It was nice having a separate hang out area and the view of the Riverwalk was so lovely! Parking is pricey but valet was pretty quick and always friendly. The hotel is in a prime location so you don’t need your car much anyway.

We had a great stay at Hotel Contessa and would definitely return. The location on the River Walk is excellent, our room was spacious and comfortable, and the staff was friendly throughout our visit.

The rooftop pool area was a highlight with great views of the city. The only minor issue was that the rooftop pool bar wasn’t staffed when we visited on a Saturday afternoon, and we couldn’t find any posted bar hours. Not a big deal, but something that could be improved.

Overall, a wonderful experience and an easy recommendation for anyone visiting San Antonio.

we booked a room that was supposed to accommodate three adults and paid the extra $40 on expedia. However, the room had one king bed and the living room area had a sofa that was not a sofa bed. This made for the third person to sleep very poorly. No extra sheets or pillows were readily available and had to be requests. Also we thought breakfast was included since in the Expedia search clicked on breakfast filter. Staff was nice and location was good. The pool and area was very small, not like the pictures show.

This is a nice hotel. It is in a great location and it has a really nice Bar, lounge, restaurant at ground level right next to the river walk. They have no parking so you have to valet or park in a parking garage which was expensive. The hotel is not new, but they have renovated and updated.

Hotel was beautiful, this is our second time there; however, the bathroom door in our room wouldn’t stay completely shut. As a family of 3 staying in the same room, privacy in the bathroom would be nice. That’s my only complaint.

Each time we tried to use the pool there were no towels. We had to let the front desk know and eventually the towels would be replenished. Also the hot tub jets come on and off at random. There's not a button to activate them. You just have to take advantage of it while they happen to be going.

Room was spacious and clean and quiet from any adjacent room noise. Beds were soft and comfortable but still supportive, felt premium. A few reviews had criticized the beds but I have a bad back and loved them. Location was very convenient on riverwalk next to Westin. Hotel Parking is only valet and expensive at $59/day with in and out privileges, there are nearby garages within 50 yards much cheaper but no in/out privileges. Staff was friendly.

The room is actually a suite with living room like sitting area and separate TV. Excellent hotel. Will only stay there when I go to San Antonio. The only con was their restaurant but, there are lots of other places to eat on the Riverwalk. I used their valet parking but there is a public garage on West Market Street across from the Contessa.

The service was terrible i never received any room service when requested and the room we originally had was gross and the toilets were clogged when we asked to move they offered us a plunger not a room they took our keys for the vehicle and the vellet cgarged us for a service we didnt ask for. When we checked out of the hotel we were charged hidden fees we asked for a refund due to the poor service they declined

Normally in the past my stay has been very good, but this time I'm disappointed. The hot water was not available for any extended period of time. Maintenence came to the room ran the water for 5 minutes before hot water became available. It was only 5 minutes after I was already running it for 5 minutes. We had to take quick showers because we never knew of the hot water was going to become cold. We had to plan our showers accordingly to make sure we didn't have to rush to be somewhere. We didn't want to change rooms because we thought we could deal with it, but it became harder to predict the hot water status. Also we didn't want a room near the elevators. They are very loud. I could hear them from my corner room. I hope this was a one off situation. The hotel is in a great location and is otherwise a good hotel to stay with.

Outdated hotel. Poorly maintained. Extremely noisy elevators (2/3) you can hear from every room and every floor. Staff is aware and did nothing. Pool is dirty as well. AC vents in the room were full with dust and mold.

The hotel was beautiful, and we had a an amazing river view. My one disappointment is that nothing special was provided to acknowledge my status with Expedia. The last hotel I stayed at provided a complimentary bottle of wine for me.

Valet personnel was amazing. Check in went smooth. We were upgraded to an executive suite which was beautiful. We were told extra bedding would be taken to our suite. 10:00 pm and still hadn’t received bedding. I called front desk and asked for it yo be brought up. An hour passed I called several times no answer. My husband went down to front desk to get himself.
Time to check out. I called front desk and requested a luggage cart be brought up. Waited for an hour called again and no answer, again my husband had to go down to get one.

We had stayed here before and had a positive experience. This time the room was musty smelling and had a lot of street noise. The property is in a great location and room was big, but the moldy musty smell and noise were off putting. When next I am in San Antonio I will stay elsewhere

Stayed at this hotel again after many years. Not well maintained. Carpet and rugs with many dirty stains all over. The bathroom appears to be in need of renovation. Toilet with calcium stains. Only 1 restaurant on property, drinks nor food very impressive for the cost. Parking is valet only, $60/day.

Fantastic location right on the river walk. Suite was gigantic and the interaction with staff was very positive. There were very minor maintenance issues that can easily be fixed….humidity warped bathroom door and shower fixture was slightly broken but worked well. We were very happy with stay.

The lady at the check in counter when we first arrive was the only staff member we encountered that was not very pleasant. The valet, concierge, restaurant and bar staff were all welcoming and friendly. The room was very spacious and had an amazing view of the river. The nachos from the bar and the pork chop from the restaurant were to die for…. amazing!

This was my 2nd time staying at Contessa. First experience was flawless with a room upgrade from the receptionist, which she was amazing and great customer service. This 2nd time was a whole other story. First, the greeting receptionist was just meh. Nothing special about her customer service and she seemed a bit bother by her job and attending other customers. The room that was given to us was old. Nothing compared to the first room that we got the first time. This one was outdated, bathtub seemed dirty but it was just old. All the furniture was old, fixtures and such as well. To be paying a high amount for a room you would expect a more modern, updated room.
Now, the second receptionist, bad customer service. No greeting, she seemed way more bothered than the first one. When I asked a question, she was on her phone and just looked up at me with an annoyed look and just nodded her head. No response, nothing.
Overall, we paid too much for an outdated room. Receptionists need some customer service training. This time I give this hotel a 2.5 out of 5.

Our stay at this hotel was extremely disappointing from start to finish. The property is clearly poorly maintained — the rooms are falling apart, the bathroom tubs are peeling, the AC vents had visible mold, the carpets were dirty, and the entire room had an awful smell. The pool area was chaotic, dirty, and far from relaxing. On top of that, the hotel staff was consistently rude, unhelpful, and seemed unwilling to assist guests with even basic concerns. The overall attitude from employees made the experience even worse. Valet parking was another nightmare. We waited approximately 45 minutes every time we needed our car, yet were still charged an outrageous $60 per day for the service. Overall, this was a horrible experience and absolutely not worth the money. I would strongly recommend staying somewhere else.

Breakfast was good. The hotel is lovely, and the server staff at the restaurant, particularly Francisco, was amazing.
Bed not the comfiest. Toilet always took at least 2 flushes. Shower did not drain well and had more than a bit of mold. Elevator intermittently went to my floor. Hot tub was nice but not so hot. Spa is not even close to a luxury spa in my experience! Extremely overpriced with mediocre massage at best and gratuity included whether you enjoy your massage or not.

Hotel is on a quite peaceful part in the river but just a 10 min walk to the heart of the action….my wife and I had a great time in SA this week…BTW the pool as a blast.

Pool was smaller than I thought it would be and bathroom was out of service outside of the pool area so had to gather belongings and take son back to our room for that. Called down for valet to bring car around and when I got down there they had no clue of me calling.

The first room had such a strong smell of mold and mildew. The second room had mold surrounding the bathtub. Stained toilet. Old dingy sheets. Housekeeping gets a C- . Parking $65/day plus over $200 in hotel resort fees. Website asserted remodeled rooms, obviously we didn't they failed to say some remodeled rooms. Very disappointed. Far from a four-star hotel.

We had to move from 2 rooms
First room was damp and smelt musty and had a definite water issue
Then had to move from the second room of our nine nights stay because of flooding issues in the bathroom from the above apartment
The hotel charge for parking at a very exuberant rate of 60 dollars per night
The restaurant was very nice and our waiter Francisco made our stay very enjoyable with his gracious personality
The hotel on the whole was very nice but I don’t think I would return

Room, staff and restaurant was fantastic. The only issue for us was that we were on the street side and the Spurs won there game and for 2 hours the yelling, horns honking woke us up and prevented us from going back to sleep. This wasn't against the hotel, but would recommend a river side or interior hotel room.

Do not listen to the porters about taxi rides back to the airport. They will tell you its $29 but the taxi driver will charge you $39. The taxi driver is trying to charge me twice by double charging my credit card. An uber or lyft will be cheaper.

Also the rooms are a little run down. The place needs an uplift.

For the price per night, I truly think it is overrated. There is nothing luxurious about it and I was very disappointed with the rooftop pool. In addition, I paid for a river view not to get a corner half street and half river. Overall, I will choose different hotel next visit.

The room was clean, the check-in process was easy, and the location was perfect! The room and the bed were very comfortable and we really enjoyed our stay. We didn't use the pool but it was heated and could've been used even in late spring weather. With the location we were also concerned it would be loud, but it was actually pretty quiet! No noise from the Riverwalk got into the room.
