I don't always make negative reviews. And overall, the stay met our needs. However, we did have to move rooms. The toilet seat closed when using the bathroom, the riverview was really more of a 2 sided view into the side of the hotel with a glimpse of the river. The hotel was decorated BEAUTFULLY. They charged extra fees not mentioned which cost us $100 extra dollars. They offered on site use vouchers to help with that, but they were never applied to our room.

Valet was $70/night and it was a MESS. We were unable to call to get our car pulled around, and were required to come downstairs, along with the entire rest of the hotel checking out. The lobby was packed and we had to wait 40 minutes to even get our vehicle. It wasn't what I would have expected from a hotel priced at this price point.

Hotel Contessa is absolutely amazing!! From the money we got there fransisco & fast Eddie were on it! Helping us with our luggage and helping with anything we needed.

This is by far my favorite place to stay on the riverwalk.

Valet parking was horrible we had to wait for like an hour just to receive our car, they stool a bag from my truck and no response about it.
Curtains dirty, bathroom as well, we asked for a service room to clean the room the first night, they just made the bed, no even new towels or paper

I travel a lot and I have to say this was one of the worst hotel experiences I have had in a long time. The hotel is run down. The AC was not working in the room we got and it was 89 degrees. We requested a different room, and was moved to a room without a river view but we were not reimbursed. The new room's shower head was broken; and the soap dispenser did not work. When I tried to call reception to ask for help, I discovered the phone did not work. There was a private event downstairs and with the acoustics it was very loud in the room till 11pm. I will definately not stay in the hotel again and hope that Expedia will refund the difference between river view room that we lost. It was horrible.

Room size was nice and big but this is not really a luxury hotel. Check in lines long. My car didn’t show locked until 1 hour after I gave it to valet, and gas level was much lower than what I left it.

Hotel is beautiful but the restaurant is expensive with the food bland and limited. The staff were mostly friendly but slow to respond. The valet service was excellent. Our toilet overflowed one morning and the coffee maker in the room only spit out grounds in the coffee. It took several hours and several phone calls to get the toilet looked after and the bathroom floor mopped. The maid was rude and blamed us for putting toilet paper in the toilet instead of in the one small trash can in the suite. We have stayed here before multiple times. This had not happened. I did not appreciate this and her reluctance to clean it up. If this is the case why were we not told about this before and why is there only one small trash receptacle in the suite. Most importantly why is the expensive price charged for this type of facility. The TV cable is very limited and doesn’t always work. The bottles of hand soap, lotion, shampoo and conditioner maybe in boutique looking bottles but the quality of product was very poor. Good thing we had brought some along with us. We have loved this hotel and the location but will not select it again after this.

All the staff were very friendly. Stay was for a birthday and a complimentary charcuterie board and bottle of wine was left in our room that day. Room overlooked the riverwalk and the bed was very comfortable. Ambler restaurant had great food and cocktails. Rooftop pool area could use a good refresh though. Many of the cushions had stains on them. Overall a great experience.

Overall, good experience. Wonderful and walkable location. Room was very spacious and nice. Friendly, helpful staff. Two areas for improvement: 1. The pool set up on the roof was great but could really use more attention to cleanliness. There weren't always clean towels out, and trash (including a bandaid and gum) was left out on the deck for multiple days. Water appeared cloudy and not the cleanest - I removed two giant floating hairballs. 2. Why don't you use fitted sheets on the beds? They kept getting untucked when we slept and feet were touching bare mattress. Unpleasant. Despite these problems, would still recommend. Fix those two areas, and it's basically perfect.

The staff was amaxing. Fast Eddie made our stay feel special. He was so helpful and always offered a smile and a happy gesture. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The bar was a great place to grabe a drink and listen to some music and even a Mariachi band that was fantastic. I would highly recommend this hotel will stay there again if we ever return to the San Antonio Riverwalk.

Every interaction from beginning to end was amazing! I took my girlfriend out to San Antonio for her birthday and we thoroughly enjoyed the location (right on the Riverwalk!), the restaurants breakfast was amazing, the staff was professional and kind.. The esthetic was to our liking! Wel loved it! I just booked another trip for the family in July! See you all soon!

I only stayed overnight. I did order room service and it arrived quickly and was really good.
I was given a credit for on of the meals and used it for a smoothie the following morning.
Location was good and staff were nice.

The room was spacious and quiet and the temperature was comfortable. The building is showing its age with some peeling paint and scuffs. Lighting in the room a bit awkward with inconveniently placed light switches in the sitting area that led to several run ins with a knee-level coffee table. The fitness center is small and in need of maintenance. Both peloton bikes were malfunctioning and the water dispenser was out of order. The pool is nice but very small and best visited early in the morning if you intend to use it to relax. In hotel restaurant was fine food wise. The servers were very friendly and attentive. Location is excellent.

Was probably nice 20 years ago but is run down and not worth the price point with so many better options nearby.

This hotel consistently delivers an amazing experience. Everything is always spotless—the cleanliness throughout the property really stands out. The front desk staff are always friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you arrive.

The hotel itself smells incredible, which adds to the overall fresh and comfortable atmosphere. The rooms offer great views, and everything is always clean and well-maintained.

The restaurant is also fantastic, especially the outdoor dining area, which is absolutely beautiful. Francisco, the waiter, always provides great service and truly enhances the dining experience.

Overall, an amazing stay every time—I highly recommend it!

They didn’t say anything about our service dog, fast Eddie was cool, but they didn’t provide coffee if you’re an early riser not until 7am, and not more than 2 week coffee pods.
Not even a coffee bar down in the lobby you would think a high end hotel would have that because a motel 6 would!
They charge a premium for parking a vehicle at 65 a night and charge mandatory tipping for everything they can think of along with a tax on your tips that they don’t tell you are going to be charged to your card. A mandatory charge that could have paid for a third night.
We would have normally let a tip for room service but decided not to after seeing it was mandatory to do that and they never entered to even make the bed.
My Husband and I went to use the hot tub that and the pool was filled entirely with unsupervised minor children to the point where you could not get into the pool or hot tub. They were diving splashing other guests trying to enjoy the sun, and there were no cameras.
The beds are extremely hard and not comfortable making for a poor nights sleep!

Booked the room and realized there are a lot of extra random charges that don’t make sense. The room had a chocolate drink all over the wall. Broken door knobs to the bathroom. The front door lock was barely hanging on. So expensive for such a poorly maintained place. This place dropped down so much from the last time I stayed here 10 years ago. It is a great place close to everything but that’s about it. Room 718 I hope management goes and spends money to fix that room!

Fantastic location right on the Riverwalk. No steps or elevator, just step out the back doors of the hotel directly onto the Riverwalk. The Ambler restaurant at the hotel has outdoor tables to watch the other tourists go by.

I booked two rooms side by side for our family and one of them wasn’t ready until 630pm when dinner was at 7 so half of us didn’t have enough time to get ready All but one elevator was operational, this made for consistently not being able to get a ride up or down as they were full, my room had shredded toilet paper in the bath tub, both of my booked rooms had missing hardware, I.e. knobs(room 815), the silver plate to cover the drain pipe n the tub (room 815) when we finally were able to catch a spot at the elevator we got all the way up there to realize the cards were programmed to another room. Room 815s cards consistently did not work so you can imagine having to wait forever to catch the one elevator to go down then wait forever to get back up each time this happened to us. The pillows were lumpy and hard like they were filled with stuffed animals. When they came to “clean” each day they didn’t even make the beds, only brought new towels and emptied the trash can.

The staffs customer service was excellent but did not help how horrible of a stay this was. We would’ve loved compensation to make us reconsider another stay and reassurance they would take this feedback to rectify their issues

We will definitely choose to stay here again for a longer visit. Every staff member was personable and helpful. The valets are incredible and helped us navigate self-parking very kindly. Loved that we could walk right out to the Riverwalk. Our room was on of the nicest we have ever stayed in.

I don’t think we will come back to this hotel. I believe it is a little overpriced. The room and amenities could use some update. The bathtub drainage was clogged, and there were some stains in the bathtub and on the bathroom ceiling. Even though our room was on a high floor, it was very noisy. We could hear the cars passing by at night, and could also hear people talking in the hallway. The beds were comfortable but the bedding was very thin, there was no comforter or blanket. Be also aware that there is no option for self parking, only valet parking is available.

Absolutley the worst hotel ever. Stole my money, overcharged me for rooms, double charged me at the bar and restraunt. Then when we complained, we were escorted out of hotel by police. They then kicked my mother out of the overcharged room. Who is 69 year old cancer patient. The most horrible experience. I have contacted attorney to sue foe theft.
