Really great location. You walk in and it looks much better than a three star hotel. Great staff. Offering free coffee/soft drinks and snacks. Also essential toiletries are free. Room is comfortable and very clean.

Good location

Near to train station. Is abt 15mins walk to the main Zhong Xiao East road. Abt 20mins walk to Taipei101.
Lots of eateries near the hotel.
Room is spacious.
Service staff are friendly.
Breakfast is not fantastic. Maybe is due to the renovation. So is pre packed bfast and we only ate on the first morning and decided to eat out on the subsequent mornings.

Although location was great, the property itself was old and run down. The closet had a terrible smell, and everything felt a bit dirty and grimy. The lunch buffet no longer was in service (which they don’t let you know until after you book the hotel), and instead we got pre-boxed sandwich which was mediocre and bland. I would’ve rather stayed in a nicer and newer hotel further away that is cheaper

It has as a luxurious and antique feel to it when you walk into the lobby. Very quiet and relaxing.

Deducted 1 rating because I felt like the AC was too strong. Some people say the AC is weak but I disagree. Even at the 25C and lowest fan speed I felt really chilly. Had to turn the AC completely off to let the temperature adjust to where I wanted it to be.

Overall a pleasant and affordable stay.

I only stayed there for one night, but I thought that the room was very nice and spacious, especially considering the price. The hotel is about a two minute walk from the MRT station and there are a few bars on the neighborhood and a McDonald's right down the street.

Convenient location to Taipei 101

Location was superb as we were there for countdown of 2019! We could see Taipei 101 just by walking slightly down the road without getting into the crowd. After that we just walk back to our hotel and sleep. Very convenient.
Hotel is a little old and rundown with a tinge of luxury left in it. Could tell that it used to be once glam and famous.
Cleanliness could do better as it was all dusty under the bed when we peeped down to fetch our kids' toy.

For the price the hotel was really good. The staff were really friendly, and let us check in early as soon as the rooms had been cleaned.

Well located only 15 minutes walk from Taipei 101, and close to several rail stations and decent restaurants.

The location of the hotel is the best. It is close to Xinyi-Daishui Jieyun ( red line subway). The staff at hotel are very friendly. The room in the hotel is comfy and clean. We will stay there again if we go back to Taipei next time. We highly recommend this hotel!

The only thing I liked about this hotel was the close proximity to the MRT. The hotel is old and the shower didn’t drain. I told the staff about it and there was no improvement. Also, the AC is very weak — even set at 15 Celsius. For the price, it is ok but just know, the amenities and property is very old.

Solid hotel at a good price; recommended

This is quite a nice hotel at a good price, offering a good, comfortable room in a good location within walking distance of Taipei 101 and the Xinyi-Anhe subway station (red line). I wasn’t as enamored with the room as on my last stay: this one had more modern decor whereas the last one had a really lovely old-style wood-panelled vibe, which I appreciated immensely. Perhaps that was a different room type. The food offered at breakfast, if you take it, is quite good, with the more local-flavored dishes being especially welcome.

The musty smell is real. It is especially bad when you open the closet. Otherwise the hotel is fine, it’s close to Taipei 101 (<15 min walk), metro station (<5 min), and very easy to find a cab. The bed is comfy, sheets are clean, and the shower has good water pressure. My husband and I got a 2x twin bed room and that didn’t bother him (6’2”, 187 cm) . If you can overlook the smell, it’s worth it. Definitely can’t complain given the location and price.

I stayed in Taipei for 4 days to attend a conference and I chose this hotel as its quite near the venue. The hotel looks quite small and antique but fortunately the rooms are quite big, comfortable and quiet. Unlike the other hotels, most visitors are for business thus very quite without kids or visitors yelling in the lobby or the cafeteria. The staff are really helpful.Furthermore, its only fews mins walking distance from the MTR station.This hotel would be one of my option in the future.

The hotel is very old compare to other boutique hotel in Taipei. Only advantage is that it is close to taipei 101 area. If you want low cost hotel around there it can be a choice. Only + is that there's a sauna in room, which is very rare

This hotel was exactly where we needed to be so the location couldn't have been better. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, and check in and check out were quick and easy. Nothing fancy, but we just needed a place to sleep and this place was perfect. Great shower, too!

This hotel is a mid-priced hotel. The room is quite clean and comfortable. The bathroom has shower only, no bathtub. (I liked that way anyway.) The hotel entrance is small and not very noticeable from outside. However, the room is very decent with simple layout and soft tone décor.

Pros: good location, walking distance to subway station and Taipei 101, has lots of good eateries nearby and also a few convenient stores located within walking distance.

Cons: the hotel building and room all looks old and requires refurbishment. Housekeeping was terrible: they don't replenish the toiletries unless you request for it. Also never vacuum the floor and never wash any used cups/spoons/plates for you. Hotel staffs are also quite impatient and unfriendly.

Theres little or no guest interaction at this hotel between the staff beside checking in and out. If you expect anything more, don't hold your breath. Breakfast was decent but again guest interaction is minimal and un personable.

HORRIBBLE HOTEL SERVICE

We plan to visit a private hot spring, in which we need to bring our own towel. So we asked the hotel to supply us 4 towels for the four of us, and the hotel did let us bring it out. We know that the staff need to check if we returned the towel or not; but it is quite strange to call us at 1:30 am in the morning to ask if the towels are returned!!! It is really weird as we are all tired and asleep, and they can do this next morning anyway.....
we are really disturbed by the call.
At the day we are to check out, since our flight is in the evening, we understand we have to check out by noon time, so we left our luggage at the lobby which they covered with a net. When it is time for us to take our luggage, a staff approached us asking if we are going to take our luggage? and we confirmed that yes we are leaving now. What the staff did is ... he just lifted the net and walked away, leaving us to take our luggage by ourselves.

Good choice..

Very nice hotel near a Metro station.
Breakfast is very good and has a good variety of foods, although can be a bit cold if you arrive around 8-10am.
Rooms are quite big and spacious with clean linen, complimentary water, tea, coffee, milk sugar and a comfortable bed and clean bathroom with complimentary washing/shaving items.
The staff are very nice and the girl at reception speaks very good english and was most helpful to us.

Nice hotel. Super comfy beds. location was good and breakfast was edible.

I was disappointed on a few fronts though. Firstly, the first nights our room had horrible or non~working air conditioning. We were told to turn it off and on but to no avail. When we returned a few days later and were placed in a different room air con was fine.

Secondly, the front staff had no idea about getting to the airport... he suggested a 1200 dollar taxi i.e. about 50aud when the direct bus option costs 140. Unfortunately he was clueless to this.

Great location with Great Price!

The hotel might look old from the outside, but the room is quite spacious. Although, it is not extremely clean (such as it was dusty under the table, or some corners), the bathroom is extremely clean. We love that we have the Taipei 101 view from our room. For the price we paid, it's definitely worth it.
Breakfast buffet has a big range of foods, but it is more into asian cuisine. All staff are also very friendly and helpful. Most of them speak English.
The train station is located a block away, which is great. You can also walk about 5-8minutes to 101, or it's just a station away.
Will definitely consider to stay there if we ever go back to Taipei.

Good location, a short walk from Taipei 101

The room came with a single key for the door, so don't get separated from anyone sharing your room! Plus it was a physical key rather than a keycard, so security might be less of a sure thing. The front desk staff can organise pickup via a limo to and from Taoyuan airport for an affordable price, which is great. Heating in room was not working as well as I expected, but the staff were friendly and responsive.

Bed is comfortable. Room is spacious. The design of the room n furniture old style . Bed is facing the door - while u sleep, 1 of the person body will be facing door which cause u kind of errie. Wash room is clean n big. We are given level 3 which is construction just beside us n blocking our view as we cant open the window. This makes me feel more errie of the room. Overall if don have all this, the room is stayable.

We only spent one night there. Overall we were fine with our stay. We booked two non-smoking rooms, but one room assigned to us had very strong smoking smell. We asked for a change, but was told no other room available and the hotel staff would do a cleaning for us. The smell was still horrible even after the the clean. With our strong insistence, the hotel gave us another room which was an upgrade from what we booked. I guess the hotel still had rooms available, but not in the same rate. Anyway, that's our biggest complaint and it got solved in the end. Everything else was fine. The hotel offers free breakfast with a wide range of food selections. Hotel staff were friendly overall.

Great Gem in Taipei!

Location of hotel is perfect - 200m from MRT entrance and only one stop away from Taipei 101. Neighborhood around hotel full of restaurants and shops including 24 hour supermarket. Night market 10min walk away.

Hotel rooms are a little dated but well maintained and well cleaned daily. Hotel breakfast had a good spread of typical Taiwan breakfast menu that had slight changes daily. Our family loved the good spread at breakfast daily.

Front desk staff were always helpful and cheerful in meeting our requests and queries.

Great value for money! Will definitely come back!

Great hotel , best location

I booked this hotel as it was very close to Taipei International convention center where I had conference, it is walkable and very close to MRT and also close to Lynghan night market. It was comfortable and staff very helpful. It is best for the price and in the location. They had arrange for airport drop and also provided me with free wifi in the taxi it was very helpful.

This hotel is in a great area close to MRT station and relatively close to Taipei 101. The hotel room was overall pretty clean. However, the air conditioning unit filter could use some cleaning. My dust allergy was very bad and I had to drug myself with allergy medicine every night before bed. Also I think the A/C ducts are linked because I could smell of cigarette smoke from another room (even though all rooms are suppose to be smoke free).

The room could use more outlets. There was 2 available outlets and 1 in the bathroom.

Cute hotel downtown within walking distance of convention center and 101. Great location. Rooms are cozy but functional. Staff helpful. Breakfast was fun as they had a lot of local dishes on the buffet. Try them all!

It is a nice one. Room was small and somehiw maintenanc fir the kast 4 years skipped it. Some of the furnitures was broken for years. The shower was long and thin and ther is no place to dress there. TV was poor.
But, all and all it was not so bad. Clean hotel.
Breakfast…. No way… the worst… very good for diet.

A \"charming\" hotel in the middle of Taipei

Taipei Charming City Hotel - Xinyi was indeed charming. Simple but clean and nicely furnished, it was a nice hotel to return to after a day's sight-seeing. Breakfast was good, if you like Chinese food. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Nearby was the Taipei 101, the Linjiang Street Night Market, the Tienhodian hotpot restaurant, and various lovely coffee houses. Being close to the Xinyi-Anhe Metro station meant that getting to popular destinations, like the National Palace Museum, Yangmingshan Park and the Shilin Night Market was a breeze.

Well placed for visiting Taipei 101, International Conference centre and Trade Centre; close to 2 MTR stations. On a major road with few local restaurants or food stores. Staff try to be very helpful but while room was clean and comfortable with adequate facilities it is a bit outdated. The price was very good for the location and breakfast was adequate if you are prepared to try some local dishes.

I have only good things to say about this hotel: 4-5 rating overall; except for one thing: while the breakfast was generally good the food was never hot. For some reason they never turned on the little heaters under the food containers. It was especially bad if I arrived late but even early on the food was only moderately warm.

Nice Hotel, would definitely go back!

I stayed in a 2 bed room with a friend and it was very good. Washroom was spacious, the Shower and Toilet was separate, the beds were comfortable, many draws to put clothing in, and closet to hang clothes. The room had everything needed and was very comfortable. Not to far from 101, MTRs close by, lotsa food close by, night market close by; very good location. The breakfast was good too.

Don't expect too much

It is convenient to 101 and the east side of Taipei, and the service people are nice but I had the following issues with my stay:
1) A wall is 1 meter away when I opened the window;
2) You can hear your neighbors flushing their toilet;
3) The bath room does not have any hangers;
4) I had to borrow a WIFI router from the desk to access the WIFI, they provide wired Internet access if you have a Ethernet cable;
5) The breakfast is average compared to other hotels, and some dishes were cold.

Location, location, location

Unlees you are looking to stay on Xinyi Road not far from Taipei 101, look elsewhere. This hotel is not nice. Service was not great. Even with do not disturb sign the maid entered my room while I was not there. Bathrooms are horrible and after a shower the entire floor is wet. I will not stay there again.

A great hotel! Exceptional 6 star service, great location and the most thoughtful and detailed oriented in terms of ensuring that your overall stay with them is enjoyed. The Charming City Hotel Staff at Xinyi upgraded our room at no additional cost when we asked for a larger room, gave us champagne during new year and did not even ask for an initial deposit for the extra bed we had installed. We settled our bill upon leaving with no hassle. Its a 3.5 star hotel with a 6 star service. The amenities are complete as with any usual hotel (towels, dryer, toiletries etc), has free wifi service and free use of business center. And for cleanliness.. even at the wee hours of the morning i saw staff cleaning rooms from those that were just recently vacated. Walking distance to Taipei 101, the Convention Center, Night Market.. and with great dinning establishments within its vicinity.

Perfect for business or luxe student travel

I had an overall pleasant experience at the Charming City. My first room smelled a bit moldy and was very cold on the 5th floor, but they graciously moved me to the 2nd floor which was much more agreeable to me. I wished the bed and pillows were a bit softer, but if you like a semi-hard bed and down pillows (the pillows are soft initially, yet when flattened out after seconds of resting your head it feels hard) then you will love it. Also wished there was wifi in the rooms, but there's free wi-fi in the looby, and you can connect an ethernet cord in your room to get internet access, so beggars cannot be choosers. For the price and the business trip purpose of this visit, the hotel was great. Will recommend to friends who are traveling to Taipei for business purposes are are not looking to empty out their pockets in the process.

overall the room is great, tons of tv channels, hotel is very clean and the room is big but it is very far from a subway station although there are bus stations nearby. breakfast not good

唯一の不満はスリッパが欲しかった。
ミネラルウォーター、エスプレッソマシン、ジュース、スナック菓子がサービスでよかった。
周辺は夜市や公共交通機関が近くて便利。
建物は古いが清潔感はあり、WiFiの速度も良好でした。
