The location was close to bars , parks, restaurants and the room was spacious and cosy. The hostel was a nice one also, with free coffee and tea and a kitchen and a smoking area and a hangout area aswell.
Recommend for a few nights for sure.

A wonderful hostel with extremely helpful staff thanks Juan and Guillermo and others! Staff create a wonderful atmosphere in the hostel, provide advice, look after safety and it’s easy to meet other travellers snd get advice. I had the top room which is a fairy book fantastic and a dream to stay in. Bathroom good enough. I highly recommend!

Night staff member was friendly but also sang music so could hear in my room - so also bad sound insulation. Morning staff member indifferent and seemed standoffish, better off asking Google than her. Weird-ass token system for breakfast where you go to the front desk for a token and then you give it to the breakfast server who picks out the food for you as you choose it. So he just stares at you while you're looking at the choices. Food was not good, was cold, and small portioned even though in theory you're allowed to take as much as you want. But you only get to go to the feeding trough once so you better know how hungry you are. WiFi fast. Bathroom had too much chemicals used to be cleaned, smelled bad all night. Bed was terrible, you sink in and then can't move. Area is dangerous, Uber driver warned me not to be around the area at night.

Easy to access from the metro and the staff were very helpful. We had an early flight into Santiago and they let us store our bags there until check in while we went out and explored the city. They were also able to point us in the direction of a free city tour and helped us arrange a taxi to the airport for our early flight out when it was time to leave.

A really good hostal

We enjoyed our stay here. The hostal is in a good location where you can walk to many places. It's just minutes from the metro, supermarket, restaurants and major site seeing areas. The people are really helpful and nice. Breakfast is a buffet of eggs, fruit, juice, cereal, bread, jams, butter, coffee, milk and tea. We would definately stay here again.

Overall an excellent option

Overall, this is a great place to stay hostal-wise. The shared bathrooms were always very clean, in both the AM and PM when I used them. I stayed in a single room (room 2) and was quite pleased with how comfortable the bed was and how the pillows were the perfect blend of firm and soft. Could use just one more pillow though.

Reception speaks English as well. Major props for allowing me to check in earlier after a 24-hour flight journey! Rooms are very clean and housekeeping is also offered (from an unpleasant woman, a sharp contrast from the cheery reception).

Breakfast is included and pretty simple but kept me satisfied with eggs (hard-boiled and one day scrambled offered), cereals, cheese slices and fruit. There is a fridge so you can store sundries and a big kitchen to cook. Of course, you should clean up your cutlery and plate ware after use!

This isn’t a party hostel which I was super glad about. I slept really well each night. The mini fan in the room is super helpful to block out any noise - room 2 is the closest to reception so without the fan you would hear any talking or music there. A slight warning that the room had a slight musty smell of cigarettes bc a patio is right next to it, and you can smoke on there. Still wouldn’t prevent me from booking this room again (and I HATE cigarettes).

The location of this place is ACE, within walking distance of the historic centre, as well as Bellavista.

One thing: get rid of the gross bathroom mat!

Best way to end our trip!

This was our last 'stop' for our SA backpacking adventure, and was the best hostel we stayed in. At first look you might get put off by the graffiti (which is everywhere in Santiago), but this place is great inside. Booked the private twin room (for an amazing price), and arrived at a ridiculous time (6am). The lovely receptionist
(whose name I sadly didn't get) checked us in quickly and let us have breakfast too! Our room was super clean (which was a welcome surprise after the other hostels we stayed at), spacious, had a powerful fan, beautifully decorated AND had a en-suite. We felt like we hit the jackpot! Breakfast was plentiful (the chocolate cereal is recommended), only thing I would recommend is to provide hot water and tea bags for us tea drinkers. Please give this place a chance- yes we could hear some protests from our window BUT still felt safe here. This hostel was also a short walk from the city centre/local markets. If we ever return to Santiago, we will definitely come back to this hostel. Thank you so much for allowing us to end our trip on a high (especially during the tricky times with travel bans). Also another massive thank you to the lady who checked us in- you are AMAZING and an asset to the hostel!

Decent location. Avoid if staying on Friday night.

Hotel was nice but we were there on Friday night so there were riots/protests outside until about 2:30 a.m. We stayed in a private room with private bathroom which was nice. Towels were provided. Breakfast was decent. The staff was very nice. They have games available and beverages to purchase along with nice clean shared common spaces.

Our room was not clean!!!! Don't stay here. Its been the worst place we have stayed in the whole of South America and we are not fussy travellers. We also had a private bathroom which was also dirty, so dirty in fact I did not even want to use it. We went for this hostel as it had high reviews but it definitely wasn't at a high standard. The breakfast that was included was also rubbish.

Whilst the staff were friendly I think the private room with ensuite was expensive for what it was. I ended up with a room right beside the front desk, which wasn’t the best set up for noise.
I had to ask for toilet paper and towel, and my towel was not replaced on the second day of my stay.
The bathroom was very cramped

Cute hostel in a great neighborhood

Great little hostel in a very convenient neighborhood - very well situated and within short walking distance of Bellavista and subway station. Hostel staff was very helpful and breakfast was good (lots of fruit in addition to bread and cereal). Only major downside was that it was very very loud in the evenings and hard to sleep if you weren't planning on staying out til past midnight. But it's a hostel, so expect noise and bring earplugs.

I enjoyed my stay at the Hostal Forestal very much. I stayed in a shared room with 2 bunk beds and 3 other girls. The beds were comfortable, I enoyed a good nite's sleep everytime. Each of us had a locker big enough to fit one medium-sized luggage plus a backpack maybe. I chose shared bathroom and that might be the only thing I regret because even though it was always clean I have this thing for shared bathrooms (I just found out). But the have hot and cold water and they lend you a bathroom towel for a 300 chilean pesos deposit, which is like half an american dollar. Nicest staff ever; young, international and willing to help. Nice atmosphere with good music (you can take your pick too). Breakfast is usually juice, milk, cornflakes, bread (they offer apricot jam, blueberry jam, butter and dulce de leche for your bread), eggs (which you have to cook in the kitchen yourself as you like), fruits and coffee/tea. I loved staying there, and I'd do it everytime I visit Santiago!

Very close to Bocanaritz Wine Bar, Metro and Patio Bellavista. The best part of this place is the staff! Jonathan, Michael and Carlos all look such good care of me by arranging taxis, scheduling tours, verifying pick ups, hunting down addresses I needed. Loved them. Only feedback is please put a mirror in the 2nd floor bathroom. I had to run down to the 1st floor. Wonderful place!

Wonderful stay! Friendly service and safe!

Loved the location! Easy walking distance to Bellavista and Baquedano Station - 200 meters which made travel from the airpot using Centro Peurto super inexpensive. Also was able to conveniently take the red line to Universidad Santiago to take the Tur Vista bus to Valparaiso and Vina del Mar at an inexpensive day trip. The hotel offers a modest breakfast of ham, cheese, buns, Nescafe coffee and jam. Nothing notable at all about the continental breakfast. There was plenty of shared bathrooms which were cleaned daily. The hostel offers towels for one thousand pesos. The place is full of south American travels who spoke spanish and english. Carmen was especially helpful and provided me with some excellent travel tips and safety tips when I toured Valparaiso. I do recommend this hostal. I had a single room which provided basic comforts and a bed which was satisfactory for what I needed. If you are looking to be pampered or need \"luxury\" do not stay here. The place was super for my needs, but everyone's needs are different.

Great location

While havng non smoking room, smokers congreated below our window with all smoke going inside the room. Loud parties too late at night. We had to ask them to be more considerate but then another party starts. No win, no sleep. All night fighting with noise and smoke.

Unfortunately we had a terrible night at this hotel. Although the location is good, the hotel itself is noisy and dirty. The hotel staff were partying until after 1am, the water appeared to be leaking somewhere in the hotel as a pump right outside our window was constantly starting and stopping all night, and the room itself was in rough condition with loose and rotting floor boards, no outlets, thin towels....overall- not a nice place to stay!

First nights in Santiago

The staff didnt have much English and I had no Spanish so that was a problem for a start. They couldnt advise me about what their city had to offer. One shower didnt have a rose at all and bathrooms were very cramped. There was no consideration of other hostel users at night for those who wanted to sleep and staff didnt control the noise in spite of signs everywhere. My room was particularly noisy as it was near amenities, the lounge and the stairs were behind it - not at all conducive to sleep. There was internet for PCs only in the main lounge where everyone was enjoying themselves - totally unsatisfactory. I felt very safe there with having to press the bell to get in or out and my room felt safe.

OK for the cost

Good location and ok if you are on a budget. Metro near by and a booze shop just round the corner !
Just try and ignore the grumpy lady who minds the kitchen in the morning. Everybody else at the hostal were helpful.

Perfectly located. Poorly managed. They attach a 5% fee if you pay with a credit card which is not disclosed at the Hotels.com site.
Also, they make you wash your own dishes at breakfast.
For a couple of dollars more, we stayed at another hostal nearby. If that hostal sent us a request for feedback, our rating would be a resounding five star.

El hostal en general esta bien, limpio, las camas cómodas, tienen conexiones para para cargar cel y electronicos en cada litera; pequeño en todos sus espacios pero simpático, el personal es educado, no sentí como mucha calidez, pero si son educados y tampoco hacen malas caras. Lo único es que a pesar de la ubicación geográfica buena, esta en una calle secundaria, que esta feona y en la noche creo que si me pondría algo nervioso salir o entrar

I had originally booked this hostel for a week, but changed my mind and only booked for 1 day. Not because I didn't like the place, but because my plans had changed.

I had my own room with a shared bathroom and toilet.

The room consisted of a double bed, a chest of drawers and a fan to give me some cool air in the heat.

The hostel itself was perfect, it was perfectly located and the people who worked there were super nice and helpful.

Breakfast is included in the incredibly cheap price of the night.

Hotel bem localizado, próximo do cerro sta Lúcia e SAN Cristóbal. Quarto ok, boa estadia, só não voltaria pelos inconvenientes com o café da manhã, se paguei a diária que oferecia café da manhã, acredito que eu possa tomar um café da manhã sem uma pessoa checando a quantidade que estou servindo e ainda dizer claramente que não é legal pegar mais de 1 ovo para fazer “ovos mexido”, nunca vi isso.

Espaço com muita arte e diversão.

Espaço incrivel e muita oportunidade de interação entre os hóspedes. Tudo muito identificado, organizado e limpo. As artes dão um toque todo especial ao lugar. A cama e confortável e os chuveiros são bons. Para a perfeição, só faltou um ar condicionado. Mas o ventilador deu conta. A localização é otima. Com uma boa disposicao, dá pra conhecer boa parte de Santiago a pé. Muitos restaurantes em volta e alguns mercados.

So here are the little gripes I had about this hostel:

1) the sofa in the lobby is uncomfortable it's so bad, they could really change it
2) even from inside my bedroom, the door could only be locked and unlocked with the key. So not only is this inconvenient, it's not safe in case of emergency evacuation
3) they need 2 or 3 fridges, just one is not enough for the whole hostel

Like I said, these are just minor points and I had a very pleasant stay. The staff isn't only polite, they talk to you like they're your actual friends. I would certainly go back.

Nicht wie erwartet…

Wir hatten ein Doppelzimmer mit eigenem Bad ganz oben auf einem Stockwerk. Das Zimmer war okay und das Bett gross, aber aus dem Badezimmer stank es. Das Hostel liegt an einer Strasse, jedoch nicht an der Hauptstrasse. Es war aber mega laut in der Nacht. In allen drei Nächten, konnten wir nicht gut schlafen, da wie Musik hörten, laute Autos, Geschrei und sonstiges von Draussen. Das Internet ging auch nur in den ersten beiden Stockwerken und reichte nicht bis zu uns. Wir würden diese Unterkunft nicht weiterempfehlen.

Nos gusto mucho la atencion del joven recepcionista. La multiculturalidad de las personas que se ospedan en el sitio. No nos gusto lo que se cortaba el agua caliente en el.segundo piso.

Nothing but good vibes

I can only recommend this hostel. It has a great placement and there was friendly and talkative travellers in the common rooms. And the staff was very passionate and stayed after shift for a beer and shared stories

Hostal bien ubicado con buena reception

Estuve casi una semana en el Hostal Forestal. Este hostal no se ve muy bien desde el exterior, pero es muy lindo con su patio y sus colores. La ventaja de este hostal es la recepción por parte de los recepcionistas. Ahmad y Juan, los recepcionistas diurnos, son muy acogedores, atentos y serviciales. Este hostal está muy bien ubicado cerca del Parque Forestal, entre las áreas del centro, Lasterria y Bellavista. Por otro lado, se podrían mejorar algunas infraestructuras (duchas, ventilación de las habitaciones). Yo recomiendo este hostal para los demás puntos. Buena relación calidad-precio.
