This property is a two stars hotel trying to be five stars, and missing the mark rather badly. Bathrooms are in need of a serious update, the furniture in the rooms is just sad and worn, and the staff, while trying to be helpful, are just ill equipped. Booked the presidential suite, and it should be called the pauper suite. It smelled terribly, one bathroom had a leaky toilet that made it unusable, and decor was just generally run down. There was no trash can in the room, and the bedding smelled damp. Despite booking in advance, the room was not ready even after check-in time...I could go on, but just know to avoid this hotel!

Absolutely amazing hotel and knowledgeable. Located just a stone throw away from the lively 'Old Quarter' area of central Hanoi. The staff are most helpful, as I booked the city moped tour and Halong Bay day trip through the hotel. The rooms are clean and spacious. My room was fully fitted out with amenities such as hair dryer and safe but most importantly, a large comfortable bed. It has a stunning bar on the ground floor and a sky top roof area. They also helped arrange transportation to and frow the airport. I throughly enjoyed my stay there. Can't fault the Hotel in anyway and I strongly can recommend them. Steve.

Golden Silk has a great location in the Old Quarter, close to shopping and tourist attractions like Train Street. The hotel staff was very helpful. There are some interesting eateries nearby, including Met across the Street and Banh Mi 25, which is about a 10-minute walk away.

I only had 1 night booked and im glad, this hotel was very conveniently located but lacked the accommodating nature of many other motels I've stayed at. It was a hassel for the staff to get me some water when i asked, The staff are very pushy when asking for a tip, one even told me it wasnt enough when i did tip him and after breakfast I walked up to my room to find a male staff member walking out of my room, when i asked him what he was doing he said he was checking if i had checked out (this was at 8am)

We absolutely loved Golden Silk Boutique Hotel. It's located in such a great place near the old part of Ha Noi and the lake. The people were so welcoming and went out of their way to help all the time. The breakfast was soooo good. I highly recommend this place!

Good location but wish it was a cleaner experience. Came back to the room one night to find trash (food packaging etc) on the floor and lumps of hair on the bed. As it was late, did not call for rectifications and simply avoided the dirty areas. Trash was cleared the next day.

Our first check-in wasn't really good. Staff were not friendly, the room wasn't very nice... after 2 or 3 nights we went to Ha Long Bay... and after we booked another hotel... we received email from hotel and they informed us for upgrading the room.
When we back we met Emily (hotel manager) Emily is cuch nice lady, she was helpful and very friendly. She did apologise to us and upgrading our room, and we stayed only one night more... because we already had booked another hotel.
Before checked out we ask to buy a bath towels... Emily wasn't there and staff had to ask about... the answer was YES we can buy... and when we try to pay, the girls say, no need to pay... Emily said it be free for us... so we had nice benefit and souvenir from the hotel...thank you Emily!
P.S. If all staff were like Emily the hotel be perfect without any complaints, and we will stay for 10 nights as we booked. Hope they be better in the future.
Once again THANK YOU EMILY for every thing you did for us! ❤️

Great location in old town Hanoi. Walk out the door and leave the tranquil peace of the hotel for the chaos of busy Hanoi. We stayed 3 times over a 3 week holiday as we went out to other areas. The last time we upgraded to a street view room with balcony and loved that. Don't really like an inside room. Staff and service was excellent. Food was good.

We stayed for three nights in two rooms (2 nights - 1 night cruise Ha Long Bay - 1 night). Our first stay was fine - the hotel is a little dated but clean and tidy. The reception on the TV is bad but that didn’t really bother us.

On our second stay, we arrived at reception at 5pm to be told there was a problem with one of our rooms and the hotel only had the presidential suite available for us. As we were three guests, we had booked a standard room and a luxury suite with twin beds. We were offered the Presidential suite and agreed to take a look at it - we went up and saw that two fold out beds had been placed into the room. As we were tired from our drive back from Ha Long Bay, we begrudgingly accepted. We enquires about a refund for one of our rooms, but we’re told that we were not getting a refund as the Presidential suite is bigger - totally missing the point of the fact that we had booked two rooms in order to have some privacy.

The Presidential suite is certainly not suitable for presidents. The AC is very loud and unresponsive - the room was freezing cold regardless of the temperature set. The fold out beds were uncomfortable and of a much lower standard than the other hotel beds. The shower only had one setting - scalding hot. And in the main living area, there were some LED lights that could not be switched off, making it very difficult to get to sleep.

This hotel absolutely exceeded our expectations. The room was a little small by American standards, but more than made up for it with the gorgeous decor and ammenities.The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating, helping us with tours, transportation and places to go that were within walking distance. The breakfast buffet had something for all tastes. If we go back to Hanoi again, we will definitely stay there.

We have rented a bike on our very first day. First day we parked our bike at the hotel with no issues however upon parking on the second night, the hotel bellboy was rude that telling us they dont provide parking for guest and telling us he doesn't know anyrhing and refer us to the receptionist, the receptionist told us that we cant parked our bike and need to park s ok somewhere else, we then ask to speak to the hotel manager and he just give us a name card. I am disappointed with the service that the hotel provided and wont recommend friend to stay un this hotel in future.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at the Golden Silk, and we received an upgrade to the beautiful Presidential Suite, which is AMAZING ! When booking, the larger rooms are on the front, and the difference is price is well worth it.

Like coming home

We arrived late at night after a long and uncomfortable bus trip from Sapa to be greeted at the bus by the doorman with a big smile and assistance our bags. Checking in at reception was a seamless experience with nothing too much trouble for them. We were welcomed and made feel like special and valued clients. Due to the late hour we decided to have room service the ordering was easy and the delivery very quick and again nothing was too much trouble.

Ms Lee the manager certainly knows how to bring the best out in her staff and has the time to make each guest feel as if they are the only guest in the hotel. We emailed prior to arrival to organise an airport transfer which Ms Lee arranged so we knew that every detail was taken care of and we had no worries. Her management style and the way she runs the Golden Silk Hotel should be de-rigour for all top hotels across the world.

We will certainly be coming back and will happy recommend the Golden Silk Hotel to any traveller wishing to have a truly special Hanoi experience.

The hotel is well located in the Old Quarter. Lots of shops and restaurants around. Staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is a little old and breakfast is only okay. Spa is extremely small, I chose not to use it. Overall an average experience. There are better places in Hanoi for the same price.

Stayed here twice and the staff was extremely kind and helpful. Rooms are good and I slept better here than I do at home. In the old town area of Hanoi, it's easy walking to Hoàn Kiếm Lake and a number of other sites of interest.

I spent 3 nights recently at this hotel in Hanoi. The hotel itself is very nice. The decor and the rooms are lovely and well appointed. Breakfast was also very nice. However don't to to the Rooftop Bar - what a disappointment. I was really looking forward to seeing the advertised Old Quarter skyline. We made our way up to the bar at 6pm, - the advertised opening time - but it was not open. We had to wait about 15 minutes for someone to turn up to open up. it was very disappointing to be let into a small, smelly, almost seedy type bar - the carpet was filthy and stained. We took one look and left immediatley, and headed off to another rooftop bar close by.
I travelled for 3 weeks in SE Asia and stayed in numerous hotels, so I was used to the overwhelming friendliness, smiles and courtesy that is found everywhere in this lovely region. Don't expect it from the sour, abrupt almost rude staff at this hotel. They totally spoilt the entire stay there. Very underwhelming is probably the nicest I can say.
Won't be going back there.

Overall, the stay was present. The staff was very helpful and we manage to book a tour last minute. As our room had a balcony and it was facing the street, have to bear with the \"honking\" sound throughout the night. If you are a light sleeper, forget about this room. It was ok for us since we wanted window and natural light. The toilet was infested with fruit flies, even after killing a batch of them, they miraculously appear again the 2nd day. Spotted a lizard in the room which freak me out.

Great Hotel in the Old Quarter

Had a wonderful stay at the Golden Silk. The hotel is right in the Old Quarter and is easy walking distance to the lake and the night market. The staff were so great in organising our trip to Halong Bay and looking after our belongings until we returned. We had an early start on our last day in Hanoi and some boxed breakfasts were organised us for us to take as we left before the restaurant was open for breakfast.

We were waiting for driver of the hotel for 1 hour at the airport.
We didn't have enough time that's why we were upset.

I requested to special cake for my boyfriend's birthday.
I told them before I wanna make him surprise.
But receptionist asked to me about cake in front of my boyfriend.

I told them that if it gets to 12am, please bring it our room.
But they brought it 5.30am.
Of course we were asleep.
My boyfriend wear nothing but a underwear.
It was quite funny story though.
We had plan all day so we didn't eat it.

Thankfully we stayed here for only a day. The hotel is great if you're looking a centrally located one, but that's all that works for it.

Check-in took far too long, and while we were upgraded to a larger room, there was much lacking. The airconditioning did not work and even worse, the smell of vomit permeated the room.

The bathroom was okay but I would say the blinds are just plain illogical as they block the door, which makes coming in and out quite a chore.

Overall, an okay stay but if budget isn't that much of an issue and it's a long stay, I'd skip this one.

Elegant little hotel with a great location

Elegant, little boutique hotel. Great location in the Hanoi Old Quarter - nearby sights were all within walking distance. We also appreciated the fact that the hotel is located on a more \"upscale\" little street, which felt a little more clean and quiet than the surrounding area. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet very good. The only thing I might mention is that most of the hotels in the Old Quarter are long and narrow - we had a beautifully furnished room, however rather than a window we had an opening to an airshaft. Didn't bother us at all, as we were only there to sleep, but be aware and maybe request a front room if that is an issue.
