We had two rooms—the more expensive room had a sweeping view of the city and the sea. North Americans will notice that the rooms don’t have much additional seating but this is Europe. Rooms were very clean and I did not notice a lot of dust or any bad smells.
The neighborhood is residential and quieter than many in the city. It is also on a fairly steep hill. We are in our early 60’s and in good shape and enjoyed the walking.
We used the private parking, which is limited. We were initially told there was no availability but when we checked in they told us they had a spot. We were there in October and saw occasional spots on the street as well. I assume availability will depend on the season.

I just returned from a week’s stay at this beautiful boutique hotel and it exceeded my expectations! The hotel is lovely, exuding charm around every corner. From the moment I arrived, the staff were extremely attentive and went above and beyond. A big thank you to Philippe, Kevin, Daniel and all the staff at the hotel, who not only provided amazing recommendations, but happily made arrangements for us. I very much enjoyed the amazing breakfast spread every morning and the torte of the day! Delicious! On the Friday night before we left, the hotel arranged a fantastic jazz duo for the guests, with champagne on the terrace and it was just magical. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and highly recommend!

This is a lovely “petit” hotel - very well maintained and presented, friendly service, well managed, good breakfast. The deluxe room with sea view/balcony is very tight (e.g. towels hung on towel rail virtually touch the toilet, open door virtually touches the bed, no mirror over dressing table/desk as no room). It has a standing room-only balcony and very distant glimpse of a sea view. During our 5 night stay, complimentary water, tea/coffee and toiletries were not replenished after use (they were provided when requested.) Unfortunately its location is not convenient for tourists. It is a long, steep walk to the town centre and not well served by public transport. Ubers to return from the main restaurant areas averaged €14 during our stay. This may be cheap for EU/US visitors but not for us from the UK. Overall, I wish I had booked a less pretty room in a better location as the compromise wasn’t worth it on this occasion. (Note to all readers: I review for the benefit of other travellers, not the establishments, which I hope is helpful - the staff here were all worthy of a very good rating but I have written the review ai wish I’d have read before booking.)

We had a room with a marvellous view across Nice to the sea. The room lacked storage for clothes - only a problem if staying for longer than a couple of nights (we had booked for a week). We pointed this out and some furniture was found for our use. Very helpful staff, excellent breakfast, quiet hotel situated on high ground in a residential area, so be prepared for walking to find nearest restaurant, supermarket etc.

Great hotel in a quiet but accessible location. Easy to walk everywhere from the hotel. Throughly enjoyed my stay and was impressed with the quality of the room and the service. The only minor thing is that room service food wasn’t enjoyable at all and blackout curtains in the room weren’t wide enough to fully block out the light.

Beautiful boutique hotel. Very friendly staff. Amazing buffet breakfast ….would go back just for the breakfast!! We arrived late after a very long travel day. Felt immediately relaxed, had a good nights sleep and enjoyed a walk around the beautiful neighborhood. Highly recommend this hotel.

Phillipe met our car and checked us in. He offered us a lovely upgrade for a minimal charge. He ace us suggestions for walking and for restaurants. The hotel is quietly stylish and comfortable in a residential area only 10-15 minute walk to the hustle bustle of Nice’s downtown. Our room was well equipped and we enjoy a small balcony with a view of Nice and the ocean. On our last night Phillipe made us a reservation at a wonderful Michelin rated restaurant. It was outstanding! I will stay here again.

What a great place! My wife and I checked in for 3 days. Right in heart of Nice in the hill. Granted it’s a hike walking up the hill but less than 10 min to flat part of town. The hotel is a hidden gem with private gardens and pool area. The staff were amazing and served us drinks and snacks at the pool. Could have stayed at pool for weeks. It was our own private oasis surrounded by chirping birds palms and pines. We stayed for dinner two nights and food was decent. We would go again. Luxury stay.

This was my fourth year staying at Petit Palais, I love it. But this time my room air conditioner wasn’t working and no one except for the gentleman at night, Joseph, would assist me. The engineer didn’t come to check it, they said they’d take care of it when I went for dinner. I came back to the room closed up and extremely hot. Then they promised me a fan to put in the open window (it was 82f that day) and it never came. Joseph, the night manager made a call and followed the directions but the AC was broken. It was a miserable stay. But I love the hotel and will give it another chance.

-The swimming pool is a plunge pool at best and mosquito bites are a major problem among the greenery which surrounds the pool

We enjoyed a wonderful time at Le Petit Palais, the owner and staff members were all delightful, charming and welcoming. The garden and swimming pool area are delightful. Early evening cocktails and morning breakfast were enjoyed in this wonderful garden setting which was perfect.

Nice location (pun intended) in a quiet residential area. Room had a great view over the town towards the sea. It is a bit of a walk to the town facilities though. The room was clean, although a little small for a triple. The wi-fi works well. We did not try the breakfast - we suggest to take your own kettle if possible, if you want tea/coffee. The sound insulation from neighbouring rooms is poor and we did not sleep well some nights

The exterior of the hotel is beautiful but the interior is very cramped starting with the elevator and also our room. We could barely walk around. The hotel is located in the Cimiez area of Nice and not conducive to walking to the Old Town or to restaurants. We parked our car and took Uber throughout the city. Driving was a nightmare as the hotel was extremely hard to find and a distance from everything. I wish I had chosen another hotel for my stay in Nice. It seemed very unoccupied and the restaurant served only breakfast. The staff seemed puzzled that we had such difficulty driving in Nice almost to the point of being insulting. The hotel is very quiet and is a good place to rest. That isn't why I travel. I like restaurants and shopping and staying here made all this very difficult. I was disappointed in this hotel.

Warm, genuine welcome. Room if just on the small side had a balcony and spectacular view across the city to the sea. A villa set amongst all the other villas in Cimiez; the area has a calm, wealthy neighbourhood feeling. The walk to Old Town is medium length which on warm September evenings is perfect.

Small, quaint hotel that is elegant and very tastefully decorated. We had a ground floor room with french doors that opened to a small private garden with table and chairs. The room was a good size for two people. The bed and pillows very comfortable and the bed linen was of good quality. The buffet breakfast was not included in our room, it cost 20 euro per person. A coffee 5 euro. There are no cafes, restaurants at the doorstep or within close proximity, it is at least a 20 minute walk up and down a very steep and winding hill to get from the hotel to the road below. A taxi cost between 10 and 15 euros to get from town to the hotel. We booked and stayed for 10 days at this hotel and overall enjoyed our stay. On the negative side, there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room nor any bottled water supplied. Our feedback to the hotel would be, if a guest has booked and paid to stay at the hotel for 7 nights or more, then breakfast should be complimentary. If not the buffet breakfast then a continental breakfast. We are from Australia and it was our first trip to France. I would recommend this hotel for couples wanting a short break.

A Very Friendly Family run Hotel
Above all this is a very quiet and friendly family run hotel within easy walking distance of Nice. We had a very pleasant stay with our family using the hotel as a base to visit the local area. The rooms are simple and clean with great air conditioning ( this hotel is well air conditioned too). We benefitted from a terrace with table and chairs so we could all have a night cap after a days excursions. The menu for lunch is simple and well prepared with some good wines. The girls loved sun bathing by the pool in between excursions.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was very comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is on a hill overlooking Nice and it is a beautiful view. It is a walk up and down the hill but we enjoyed the walk and it is much quieter in this location of Nice. Taxis and ride share services are readily available for those who don't want to make the walk. We enjoyed the World Cup final the first night we were in Nice and the staff was kind enough to prepare room service after the game as most restaurants in Nice were closed. The breakfast was excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel!

We stayed for 4 nights at approximately EU 180 per night with no breakfast. We had a standard double but with private outdoor space. The outdoor space was nice to have. The hotel is nicely appointed and clean. It is situate in a nice residential area and the junior staff are friendly and helpful. Impressions of the personnel were marred by one somewhat pretentious and aloof official who provided a cool if not unwelcoming impression.
There is no restaurant in close proximity and while the 10 to 15 minute walk down to La Chaise Bleu is not bad, the climb back up after dinner is not pleasant on a frequent basis. This creates a captive market especially for breakfast and at EU 20 breakfast here is unacceptable. There is no coffee maker in the room or in any common area which speaks to a particular attitude by management. Bacon pieces are left to marinate in fat, waffles and pancakes get leathery and scrambled eggs are not kept fresh. A guest can have a continental breakfast for EU 12 but is then confined to the room to consume it. The pre-made dinners available are not good dining.
The safe is too small to even accommodate a tablet.

This was a trip we had wanted to take for a while to take in the tennis at the Monte Carlo open. The hotel is in the residential area of Cimiez which is very quiet. However there are no bars or restaurants nearby so you have a ten minute walk down the hill to the old town. This would not put us off returning as we got the best ever welcome to any hotel we have been to!

This is a wonderful hotel but don't stay here if you want to be in the midst of all the hive of activity in the center of Nice. The center of town and restaurants are a good 15 minute walk downhill, so come prepared. The hotel does offer a wonderful buffet breakfast with tons of hot and cold choice, but at 20 Euros a head it's not cheap. Having a simple breakfast in your room of coffee, juice and a croissant for 12 Euros is another option. The bar at this hotel is open most of the day and there is a lovely outdoor area to enjoy a few drinks. The outdoor pool here is more of a giant hot tub. The proximity to the Chagall museum is great and there is some parking in front of the hotel which is very helpful if you need to park in Nice.

Phillipe met me st the door and helped me settle my bill with the taxi driver who he scolded for overcharging me. I got checked right in to a lovely room with a good size patio and a view of the hills leading to the ocean. Breakfast was lovely. Had a beautiful tour of the Matisse and Chagall museums that are both an easy walk. The old city is also a nice walk but you may want to uber back as it is uphill from there. Overall really enjoyed it and I would go back!

The breakfast, service and view from our room were wonderful.The beds were fabulous my sister and I slept very well it’s a very quiet area.
The rooms though older have character and are very cosy, and comfortable.
It is located away from the main town but a short cut makes a 20 minute walk to hit the top of the town.
