Good location. Walkable distance from station. Lots of dining option. All tourist places within walking distance. Next to a big shopping centre.
Hotel is good with nice breakfast spread. Rooms are spacious.
I think bathtub shower is not made properly. Glass partition is not enough to stop water from flowing into the bathroom. May be the partition needs to be extended. Alternatively a shower curtain can be provided

There was black mold in the shower. I reported it the next morning and they did nothing about it the next day. I told them about again when I departed and all they offered was an apology. I wouldn't stay here again because of it.

staff from front desk deserve for coaching . I would like to see improvement. Hard communications .

It wasn’t my first time in Mercury hotel but for now the last one.
Also weird that hotel is taking 50 euro deposit as they call this just in case if you will break glass 😂
I’m traveling a lot monthly probably visiting from 3-5 hotels and Iexperienced something like this for the first time. No one charged for broken glass

Short city break

Lovely modern and clean hotel a very short walk from the railway station. Next door to a huge mall with restaurants. Easily walking distance to the old town and the main city attractions. Great bed, slept extremely well, the room was super quiet even though it was overlooking the main road. Breakfast was very good.

Room ok. Breakfast awful. Overcrowded, dirty. Had to clean own table. Staff overwhelmed. 2nd day worse. Trash everywhere. Dirty dishes. Had breakfast outside. Spa with holes in floor. Freezing jacuzzi. No pool. Cold sauna. Teens showering fully dressed. Very badly managed.

Bad barman!

First, important to say I raised the points below with staff when leaving; the person at reception was apologetic and said she’d pass the points on - so that’s a good start.

Two points that niggled:
1. The music, especially at breakfast time, was too loud - I don’t imagine many people need or want loud Led Zeppelin first thing in the morning.
2. More annoyingly, there’s a barman there who was just plain rude: he didn’t greet or even acknowledge me at the bar, and barely communicated throughout; worse, he had what appeared to be friends join him, hanging around at the bar and even playing their own music - the barman was far more animated then, and the crowd at the bar didn’t make me want to order anything else. He certainly put me off using the bar the subsequent evenings.

That aside: great location; very comfortable hotel.

The hotel was situated in a great place, easy to walk places. Very clean. Complained about the curtains not being able to close, electricity in room not working and cleaner walking in room without knocking. Staff member on desk was unhelpful and blamed us for the mistakes. Staff members not approachable.

The staff were super unfriendly. At my check in they asked me to sign a form to agree that they can charge my credit card and all the information was in Latvian language!
I splited my 5 night stay to 5 bookings in Hotel.com but I informed almost every receptionist that I will stay 5 days in the same room, however my card was blocked everyday and they called me and awaked me asking when I am going to leave.

I asked about late check out on Aug. 3rd which is my last day of stay and they answred it costs 20 Euro per hour which basically means after 3 hours they charge me for the whole night and I prefer to go to airport and wait there.
I don't recommend this hotel at all!

Horrible service and stole my deposit

I stayed here for one night because it wad close to the train station and I regretted it.
The AC never worked and then I asked if I could get a late check out (till 2pm) because I had an important meeting and they said yes and then didnt record it in the system or something because they walked into my room during my meeting (even with the do not disturb sign on) and even after seeing me in my meeting they continues to knock and bother me and when I told them the guy was so rude. They also took a 50 euro deposit from me which they did not return to me on check out. I have the deposit receipt and everything

Not a great hotel at all.

The hotel's spa was out of order, which is something that was not advertised when I was booking the hotel. The hotel didn't have air conditioning, as advertised, but they have air tempretaure control, which didn't seem to work. I have witnessed many guests complaining about it to the reception staff, who were not helpful at all.

The rooms looked dated. Although they were very clean. Have never stayed in a hotel where the room was so sound proof. Could not hear next door and no ceiling noises fom the floor above. Good breakfast. Eggs cooked on the spot how you like them. A glass of fizz on arrival for breakfast.

We had a great stay at the hotel. Good facilities, big rooms. The staff was great and very friendly and helpful with our requests. They even brought us some cakes as it was my friend's birthday. The room was much too hot on my first night and the wifi didn't work, but these issues were fixed quickly when I raised them. The floors were very mucky and there were ominous stains in places. Staff were lovely and felt they deserved to be working in a nicer hotel!

Room could do with a refurbishment - good location

The hotel is well located next to Riga Central Station. Room was not up to date, door damaged and bathroom not very clean. Maintenance work (loud drilling and hammering) started on Friday and Saturday morning at exactly 9am, and a complaint meant it resumed on Sunday at 11am, so the slee0 wasn't totally ruined. Check-in staff could not believe that two men would check into a double room of a city centre hotel in 2019, so we made it clear that as a gay couple this is what we want, but another comment from check-in staff about \"I assume you need two rooms\", \"do you not want twin beds\" and the bed being \"big enough\" immediately followed. Sad to see that homophobia is still so present in Latvia, especially because the city, architecture and the vast majority of people are lovely.

Nice accommodation in central Riga

This is a centrally located hotel not far from the railway and coach stations and a short stroll away from the old town with major sights for seeing. Excellent service, friendly, personable, and helpful staff, good breakfast with a variety of food and drinks, both cold and warm. The rooms are cosy, spacious, and modern. The rooms have all necessary amenities which makes stay truly comfortable.

Just okay. Nothing Spectacular, the room we have was called \"Privileged\" which I couldnt figure out why, because the bathroom had dim light (awful for putting on makeup) and the shower flooded the floor. It did have parking and airport shuttle which cost extra, but were helpful.

The staff were all very helpful when needing information about public transport in Riga. The public bus and mini bus from the airport were convenient for the hotel.
The staff in the dining room were also very efficient, plates were cleared and tables cleaned and reset quickly. I would happily recommend this hotel.

Stayed for three nights while visiting Riga with family. I wish I booked elsewhere. There was nothing specifically wrong with the hotel, it just wasn’t good enough for a Mecure property. It is a very cheap renovation and build, and not worth the price paid. I would look for somewhere else in Riga.

Actually the hotel is nice and the staff generally are all really nice and helpful. I was however staying for 4 nights on 2nd floor and there was a party going on with very loud music going on. I asked for it to be turned down but the reception staff seemed incapable of having any authority with the noisy guest so in the end at 10.30pm at night I had to pack and move rooms to the 5th floor. I asked reception to get a manager to come and talk to me the next day but no one did. When I checked out the duty manager tried to give me 50% off my room for the disturbed night but I did not think this was enough and was not in the mood to negotiate so declined his offer and will give this review instead. There are lots of nice hotels in Riga so I will not be staying there again.

I had wanted to stay in this hotel for quite a long time due to its excellent location and elegant exterior appearance. But I'm sorry to say I was disappointed. The room was very clean but the AC did not seem to be working well. I am thankful there was a small fan in the room but after 2 attempts to call the staff to have them look at the AC I simply gave up. If I wanted to cool down I could simply leave the room and enter the hallway, where the temperature was several degrees cooler than my room. One feature I liked about the hotel is that each room has it's own wifi access with special code. Unfortunately, this seemed to work just fine in every room but mine. Once again I called the staff but they could not get it to work. Lastly, it was not the fault of the hotel but there was very noisy building construction taking place right outside my window so adding to the lack of AC made sleeping very difficult. I will say that the bar, restaurant, and spa are very nice and the massage I got was excellent. All in all I think it was just bad luck that I got a bad room but the hotel itself is quite nice.

Good experience for our second trip to Riga. Fitted in some visits to museums, plenty of walking, or used trams and buses. Public transport is cheap and reliable by tour tickets at the many Narvesen shops or kiosks where you can also get a cheap coffee or snack.

It's an average hotel with a casino and a hookah lounge.
There's no good reason for it to have 4.5 star rating, because it's barely a 4 star hotel. Radisson BLU has a 4 star rating and is way better equipped than Mercure Riga Centrum.

Breakfast was a very pleasant affair with a good choice of cereal hot food and pastries. Our side of the building was pretty quiet but there is a significant building project underway next door this didn't interfere with our stay but as work progresses it may impact in some way. The location is close enough to the centre for it to be just a short walk away but without undue noise.

I stayed at the Mercure for 1 week while in town for a conference. Good location in city center. Friendly staff. Easy access to public transportation and shopping center.

Room was quite noisy - not their fault as there was a construction project across the street. My only major issue is that the shower water pressure was bad enough to prohibit my getting to my work on time a couple of times.

Great hotel and excellent team at the reception

I am particularly thankful to the Reception team. I forgot my $1000 camera when I left the hotel. Later I contacted them by phone and discovered that it was given to them and, through smooth, prompt, and very courteous communication by email and phone, arranged for the camera to be sent to my home address. While at the end I went back to the hotel from a close by town and picked my forgotten camera myself, I am immensely thankful to Julius, Kristian and the others who were involved in my camera adventure and handled all this very profesionally. Thank you guys!

Great Vaule for money in a good location

Really enjoyed our short 3 night break in the Mercure Riga. The hotel is easily accessed from the airport using the number 222 Bus which has its final stop on the opposite side of the road to the hotel. We were able to walk to the Old Town within about 15 minutes very easily.
The hotel staff on check in were friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and comfortable and we had a very pleasant stay. The bathroom was large with a lovely big shower area. We had breakfast included in the room rate and found this also to be very good.

No problem with the hotel or location but don't bother with the casino.
Went there 2 days in a row and won both times (Just small amounts). I was always polite and well behaved whilst there and tipped the dealers after playing.
3rd day intercepted by the casino manager who told me I could not play again and refused to give a reason. The reason is obvious, they only want players who lose every time.

great but ... take note

hotel is overall good however the second floor room was noisey as it was above reception etc. the breakfast looks amazing but all hot food sausages eggs pancakes egg were all cold! the shower constantly leaks out of the door and floods the surrounding area. the staff however are fantastic and helpful. just sort out the breakfast temperature of food and avoid if visiting the second floor. rooms are small.

Its a normal hotel absolutely not a 4* hotel i have agreement to have breakfast at 4:00 on morning because i live for long flight . At 4 every one of the stuff sleep on reception i go dawn all close a boy tell me at 4:30 i will have something for breakfast . At 4:30 must come a my taxi for a airport . I live my room at 4:30 and dawn again everyone sleep NO BREKFAST I WAIT 5 MIN. and come some boy from a stuff in absolute unpleasant appearance to prepare my breakfast .I go to don't miss your flight with hungry with a opinion and carelessness . Very small room absolutely not like picture. Free WIFI its a luxury and miracle . Never again in this hotel . Its ok for a someone that never see noting in a live .

The worst Mercure hotel.

It was the worse Mercure hotel in my life. I stayed in Mercure hotels in Vilnius, Warsaw, Paris and I was always very happy with service and the hotel facilities. This time it was a big dissapointment. The staff was certainly not well trained: they were not saying \"good morning\", staff at the reception was not friendly (no \"good morning\", they didn't ask how was my stay, they were not helpful). The breakfast was as in the 2 star hotel: on the first day the bread was very hard (for sure not fresh), only one kind of marmelade, scrmabled eggs were awful (tasted like made from the powder) and there was no soya milk and no margarine which is a standard in 4 stars hotels in Europe. One person from the breakfast staff was very rude.
There was a phone number to contact the quality manager but when I tried to call this person to make a complaint, it turned out that the number doesn't work.
I will never stay at this hotel again.

Really enjoyed my 4 night stay at the hotel. Hotel very clean and staff very helpful. 10-15 minute walk from the old part of the city in an area around the main station. Varied breakfast and dined in the hotel one evening which I could not fault. Only gripe was that I complained about the shower not draining very quickly when used on the first night, this did not appear to be fixed during my stay.

Nice place but oddly situated.

Hotel was really nice. Good interiors and friendly people working there. My only beef is the location. It's off the main area you want to be by a 10 minute walk. The blocks around it are a bit sketchy in my opinion.

Room was really small hardly any space around the bed. The shower cubicle leaked and sink blocked! Right in front of hotel door guests gathered to smoke so you walk in and out inhaling smoke. Breakfast was average. Reception staff very helpful. 15-20 minutes walk to old town.

Good quality hotel in centre of Riga

I spent 4 days in Riga in October 2015 and was impressed with this hotel - it is centrally located close to all the main attractions. I honestly cannot find anything to complain about - everything was completely satisfactory. All of the staff were first class, friendly, helpful and professional. I would like to give Sofia who was one of the bar staff a very special mention. I was present when she had to handle a very difficult customer sitting at the bar - he was loud and aggressive but Sofia kept cool, calm and professional and succeeded in handling a very difficult situation. Well done Sofia!! You were an excellent host. I enjoyed our conversations.

If you are travelling into the city from the airport get the official blue and white airport transfer bus for only 2 Euros and it will stop outside the Mercure hotel. These buses are modern, frequent and inexpensive.

The breakfast buffet had a wide range of hot and cold food, fresh tea and coffee, Excellent .

I would recommend this hotel to anyone !!

The hotel was everything I expected from it, and it was reasonably priced for a three day stay, staff were very helpful and friendly and wasn't on top of you all the time, they informed me on all the facilities and breakfast times, gave a pleasing welcome and just let you enjoy your stay, Wifi was excellent as it worked on the whole grounds of the hotel.

Staff was very friendly and went above and beyond in my opinion, by far they made sure that I had transportation to and from airport, was very helpful during my stay. I have stayed in many hotels and can't say enough about how GREAT this place was for me. Breakfast buffet had very good food, Lunch and dinner was very nice, The staff was very accommodating. Rates were reasonable, actually low compared to the value I received, I had the Privilege Room with King Bed, very spacious, bed was comfortable. I was in room 406, although it did take me a few minutes to figure out how to turn the lights on, which I had never seen before. The room was very quiet, no road noise, nice view, felt very safe and overall very comfortable. I plan on returning to visit the city again and will plan on staying at this hotel again. It came highly recommended by locals that I know and they were absolutely correct in their assessment of this facility. I rate this place very high and would recommend for anyone to stay. The only thing that was a little annoying and it was a big deal, the bathtub sits rather high and I personally was not use to having to step up that high to take a shower, fixtures and everything else was top notch and everything worked without issues. I stayed 4 nights the ease of check in and checkout was a breeze. Overall, I had a great experience at this hotel, easy walking distance to shopping, sights, restaurants, bank ect.

Nice stay in a nice place

This is a nice hotel in a very nice city, I often stay in hotels in the same group, and know that the standard is generally good. However, the staff in this hotel made a good hotel much better, from reception to dinning. The reception staff were all willing to go that little bit further, and were all very friendly. I found the restaurant staff equally helpful, even when busy a breakfast time. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with nice walk in showers.

I have to give a special mention to Victor (Chef) and the Restaurant staff, who were only to happy keep the restaurant open so we could have a special Birthday meal. Victor puts on a great show preparing the meal (which was fantastic), and then made some of the best Ice Cream I have ever tasted.

Decent Hotel, 10 min walk to main square

My husband and I stayed here for one night and for a relatively inexpensive hotel, it was good enough. The room was a good size, bathroom pretty bare, no fridge, but bed pretty comfy. It's a good walking distance (about 10 minutes) to the main square with the cobblestone streets. The major problem with our room was that it happened to rain that night and there's a metal sheet outside of our window sill. So each rain drop that hit that sheet made this loud noise and it was the most annoying night ever we could not sleep through. Don't know why that metal sheet was there, never seen such a thing. In any case, if it doesn't rain for you, you'll find this acceptable for the price and a short stay.

1. Almost no air conditioner!!! wind is very small,
feel muggy ....need to open the window
ask reception and change another room.... the same!!
The reception said that it is no problem(????)

A weekend in Riga

The accommodation, service, breakfast, hygiene, wifi are all very good. Too bad we had our bathing suits not with us, the sauna and spa looked very promising.

Pleasure to stay here

Well positioned within walking distance of tourist sights.Quiet street outside at night and very comfortable bed for a change, not like a night on an ironing board! Breakfast very varied, excellent local bread with a small hot selection, usual selection cold meats and fish and quite reasonable coffee.Staff could not have been more helpful. Free wi fi and computer in lobby with printer attached for boarding passes etc.Very well run hotel. Only tiny niggle was the mirror was not close enough to a power socket which was a pain when using hair straighteners.
