Comfortable and Well Located

Room was spacious and comfortable with a high ceiling and big windows. I especially liked the heated towel rack in the bathroom. The location really can’t be beat - adjacent to the old city and Central Riga, with tunnel access to the Central Market and transit hubs. The pub next door got a little loud on Friday evening but wasn’t noticeable at all on weeknights.

It was a nice place to stay and comfy. Breakfast was good and a very friendly lady in the reception who gave us information about where to go or what to do. Check out time 12 - we liked that. It was also possible to check in earlier than we expected. The location is close to the old city and the markets.

The hotel is in a really handy but busy location right in the old town, minutes from the thriving market, pubs and restaurants but it's quite noisy and a bit gritty. This wasn't particularly off-putting but wouldn't suit everyone. It was noisy in the hotel as well but we slept well over the 4 nights we stayed.

Property was in a good location to access all Riga has to offer. Staff were helpful and rooms were clean and functional although could have benefitted from providing additional pillows and air con/fan as they were very well insulated - almost too much so and you couldn’t have the window open due to the street noise from the surrounding bars. All in all a pleasant stay and would recommend

The main problem was the location. Though on a map it looks convenient for transport (near the railway and coach stations and the bus to the airport) and for the old town, what the map doesn't say is that it's next door to backpackers hostel and Australian pub, which combine to cause huge amounts of noise at night. You can't sleep in a room at the front of the hotel without keeping the window tight shut - the noise goes on well into the early hours of the morning.
The (supposedly) double room was small and not in great condition. Breakfast was adequate

It was conveniently located in the old town center but is literally in front of a extremely noisy young crowd night club with
outside tables located below the hotel room windows. Does not have air conditioning and can get stuffy but opening the windows is not an alternative if you want to sleep.... besides the small
fan they offer is a joke' The room was spacious but dated and the carpeting needs changing. The reception staff is only ok and is not opened at night... they leave a gentleman that lays in the reception couch that only speaks Latvian... so unless you can communicate in the language or Russian you are out of luck. Have been in similar old dated hotels but the friendliness of the staff makes up for any faults... I would not recommend, there must be similar hotels within the cost rate and location yet hopefully with better qualities.

Very good hotel close to the old town

Spent a few days in Riga exploring the old town, museums and churches. Everything within walking distance and enjoyed a splendid canal boat trip taking you out to the river. An Aussie bar next door is a bit noisy but great fun.

- Staff wouldn't help to store bike overnight. Other hotels visited always accommodate this.
Can be noisy as there is a student bar next door; to some this would be a plus !

\"Great breakfast in a great location\"

The location is great. The hotel is very close to the bus station, close to the train station & within The Old Town. A Galleria (Shopping Centre) is located at the end of the street with a great supermarket. The hotel is a budget hotel & quite old but it had an elevator & the bed was comfortable. The room was quite small but it was clean. They advertise as having cable TV but they were having issues with the satellite so we had nothing in English. They didn't appear to be concerned about this at all. Plenty of Russian stations! The internet was pretty weak & frustrating. The highlight of this hotel is the breakfast! A great selection of both hot & cold dishes. The staff were pleasant enough but nothing extraordinary.

Do yourself a favor and stay here.

Although this hotel is fairly near to the train station, it does not carry the usual \"near the train station\" baggage. The hotel lies across a major road from the train station which effectively keeps the train station crowd to the other side of the road. This hotel was fantastic. Great location, great price, great breakfast. Highly recommended.

The location can't be beat for travellers coming from the airport - it's right next to the airport bus stop (bus 22). For the price, the services are decent. My bed was comfortable and you can order room-service breakfast free of charge from the buffet. But the bathroom in my non-smoking room reeked of cigarette smoke and there were bugs on the walls; still, for the price, it's decent. One more thing: they will charge you for any other extras, like toothpaste, which should definitely come included! Just FYI.

Well located, but with areas for improvement.

I was absolutely delighted about the location of the hotel- it couldn't have been more convenient. After arriving at RIX airport and taking city bus #22 into town, I found that the hotel was literally across the street from the city bus stop. In addition, it is long a short 2 minute walk from the long-distance bus terminal and 5 minutes from the train station. It is only a short 5 minute walk from all of the tourist attractions in the old city. The receptionists were friendly and attentive and the complimentary breakfast is excellent! On the negative side/areas for improvement, the hotel could pay a little more attention to maintenance and serviceability of the room. During my stay, I found that one of the chair's legs were prone to collapse, the shower-head was loose, and the shower drain seemed to be partially blocked. When I mentioned this to reception they told me they would mention it to manager the next day.

The hotel is practically next to every major atraction: central galeria is on the same road, old town's churches and buildings are within 4 or 5 minutes walking, freedom monument And opera house about 6 minutes walking. There is a mall with a supermarket and a movie theater across the street (stockman) and the central market and coach station are within 4 or 5 minutes walking too. Breakfast is good and the girl that serves it is the most beautiful Latvian i've seen. Free wifi, tv and a mini-fridge in ur room. Room is small but perfect for the price. Overall service was excellent. I would definitely stay again.

I really lucked out staying here. It was great. Close to everything. Can walk to market, train station and old city easily. Movie Multiplex across the avenue, if you need a break. I stayed here 7 nights over two weeks. I used it as a launch pad to visit other cities. They were able to hold my luggage as i only needs a couple days worth to visit other cities. Breakfast was solid. Bed was good for European standards. Good size rooms, with Jazcuzzis. Room 56 much better than the one is Room 55. But the toilet in Room 56 was angled weirdly, not sure how a big person would manage. Ladies behind desk were friendly and helpful. Without a doub, would stay here again. Rained alot when I was there, so bring umbrella.

Typical Three-Star Hotel Convenient to Everything

Forums is easy to find, just off the main bus #22 from/to the airport. Located at the edge of the Old Town, an easy five-minute walk to the center of Old Town and the river, and ten minutes from the main squares and restaurant areas. Hotel was small but clean and cozy, Rooms are compact, but certainly adequate for basic traveler needs. Breakfast was plentiful, adequate and tasty. Staff were courteous and helpful. I would recommend this hotel for price, convenience and cleanliness.

The Ligo festivities June 21-23 were fantastic. Music, dancing, eating &drinking, and flower wreaths on everyone. Not to be missed.

A hard sleep

The location is very convenient and a great deal for the price. Mind the parking, however -- one has to park across the street (or three) and you have to pick the right garage, or else you pay through the nose. The staff are highly competent and provide great service; the cafe is great. The room decor and the quality of the mattresses are stuck somewhere back in time, I'm not sure where. But it's all very clean.

The hotel offered what it promised. 2-3 star comfort, but nothing can beat the nearness to what we needed - coach station, train station, old square, mall, cafes/restaurants. OK, so all of this made it quite noisy to sleep at night with club music pouring in till wee hours. But we were quite exhausted and feel asleep.

Will Visit Again

Nice place in the very heart of Old Riga. Quiet and cozy accommodation. Superior mini bar. Will definitely stay stay there again. Recommended for all travelers, though finding a car parking in front of the main entrance could be a problem because of the historical pedestrian area.

A good city break

Hotel was as described in Hotels.com info. Very near train and bus stations and huge indoor market. Staff delightful especially the receptionist. Riga old town easy to explore on foot. Lots of good eateries and inexpensive indoor sights to see. Weather was fantastic. Some parts of the newer part of Riga impressive in terms of wide streets and variety of architural styles.

What's that smell?

The hotel is very nice and its location is fantastic. there were only two issues that we encountered: the first one revealed itself shortly after we checked in - the room was lovely but as soon as we closed the window and the air in the room immediately became \"funny\" - the smell originated from the bathroom - either the toilet or the pipes, but it was rather smelly. We hope it is that, our second guess is that some creature had died in there....
We kept the bathroom door closed and ventilation on.

The other thing was their staff (well, one of them) - we dialled \"0\" for reception to ask about the WiFi internet and a male staff member picked up the phone - he did not speak English but instead of transferring our call, he simply hang up on us! but the lady that checked us in was lovely, spoke English and made us feel welcome.

Nice hotel close to everuthing

If you are in for touring old Riga, then this hotel is worth a visit. Nice helpfull personell, nice rooms and 5 minutes walk to everything in old Rigaas well as a large market and railroad train station.

Unfortunately the hotel lies just across a night club and the street is well travelled during the friday and saturday night with young people coming from and going to town.

As the hotel is not sealed off from noices ecternally and internally, you are able to hear alot from the street, and almost everything happening in the rooms close by.

I would say that this hotel is nice, but the place of it dont work to a weekend tour. If it is a trip outside the weekends, this hotel is one to go to.

Pleasant Little Hotel

6 floors, about 5-7 rooms per floor. Small restaraunt and lobby
on the ground floor.

Convenient location between the Central Market and the Center
of old town. Also very convenient to the 22 bus which goes direct
to the airport.

Basic breakfast: tea/coffee, OJ, scrambled, porridge, potatoes, toast,
hard boiled eggs, deli meats.

Room was small but not cramped. Modern bathroom. TV, fridge,
desk, closet, phone, bed. Would have been nice to have a clock, though...

Both the TV and the internet had a glitch for a day--fortunately, different
days.

Staff knew more than enough English to make things easy. Found this
was true in town as well.

Excellently located at train station end of the old town-handy for day trips out as well as airport bus. Room was clean and suitably sized with bath and shower,tv and mini bar which wasn't too overpriced given what some hotels try to get away with. Rate included good breakfast buffet of meat, cheese, cereal, pancakes, eggs and toast. Also were running an offer for guests at the time of 15% off lunch and dinner in the attached restuarant. Very happy, would recommend.

all together hotel is super!!!! great location, good for couples, cause very quiet, even tho we had a room at the lift, dient here the smallest sound. staff was very helpfull at any time. breakfast included in price was great. not to big, not to small, we got all we need. Location - great, just at the bus station, central station and old city. Probably view outside the windows was not the best, but if u just stay at night there - so be it :). we can recommend to every 1.

At first you think were are we staying, but once you get past the front door into a nice pleasant. Staff were very nice and helpful, if you needed anything or guidance they were there to help. If we go back to Riga or if any of our friends go to Riga I would recommend The Forums Hotel. :) :)

Can Easily Recommend

Forums Hotel is a pretty standard hotel with the comfort and most of the amenities of a big hotel chain without the big price. The hotel is ideal for access to the train or bus station (5 minute walk at the most) and at the edge of the old town. Riga's old town is small so it is an very easy walk to anywhere in the old town.

The room was large and clean. My bathroom had a tub. Wifi (internet) was good and fast (it is provided by Latvia's countywide internet service - but you don't have to pay for it). The receptionist told me it would be best in the lobby but I had an excellent connection on the 4th floor.

The breakfast was good with lots of choices (more than just continental fare). My only slightly negative comment is that the staff wasn't particularly friendly but I was happy enough with the room and location that I never gave it another thought after check-in.

I stayed in a Novotel a few night before in a another city for about twice the price of my room at Forums and honestly, I can't see the advantage of Novotel.

FYI - There is a very nice cinema across the nearby main road that has English-language movies if you're looking for something to do at night. There is also a variety of late night fast food (McD's, pizza, kebab) down the street for people who like to eat late or cheap.

Forums - totally recommended

We arrived at 11 am, and they made an early check-in free for us, that was good. Everything as expected, clean rooms, good windows. We were in the junior double room (the smallest) - there was enough space for me and my husband.

The only drawback- the bed was really creaky.

We enjoyed our stay, very close to the Old Town and everything, totally recommended! A perfect place for a tiny budget.

Rent och fint, jättebra läge - det enda som drog ner betyget var frukosten. Den va väldigt trist med varm mjölk och varm juice, överkokta ägg och luktade skumt. Och serverades dessutom i ett litet rum i källaren utan fönster. Vi fick senare reda på att vi kunde gå upp med maten till ett finare och mysigare matsal men det var ingen som sa eller informerade om.

Centralt och mycket trevligt hotel

Trevligt hotel i gamla stan, nära till bussar, tåg och spårvagn. Lagom och god frukost, välskött hotel med bra prisläge. Trevlig och behjälplig personal rakt över. Kan rekommenderas om ni inte kräver top Mitchell.

Huone oli kuuma! Jos piti ilmalämpöpumppua päällä, sitä ei saanut säädettyä oikeaan lämpötilaan ja silloin oli taas liian kylmä.

A good experience

The staff was super nice and helpful during our whole stay. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. I also enjoyed the breakfast. My friend didn't like the coffee since it was apparently dark roast but for me it was really good.

The only issue I had with our room was with the bathroom. There was a tub and when we took a shower the water spilled easily on the bathroom floor since the shower wall covered only part of the tub. But there were two extra towels apparently meant just for the floor and the cleaners changed our towels the next day, so the whole shower wall thing wasn't really big of an issue.

Would definitely stay again!
