- welcome you receive at the door (no standard check in desk- instead you give staff your passports and they do their magic while you and your family enjoy delicious drinks in a very elegant and comfortable waiting room)
- the staff anticipating your needs (we are not good planners and they booked for us both attractions and train tickets; suggested and booked great restaurants)
- easy interaction by text message - immediate responses
- very warm and patient staff
- beautiful rooms (you feel you just hired a coveted interior decorator who redid your home- that’s right - rooms do NOT feel generically hotel-y, instead it’s like you are in a ln elegant but comfortable home- plush couches and chairs.)

Upon arrival, our bags were whisked away and we were offered welcome drinks. It was mid afternoon and we were hungry, but many restaurants were closed. The staff quickly made a recommendation and called the restaurant to reserve a table for us. At night, a menu of different pillows were offered.
Overall, the location was perfect. The room itself was clean though not overly spacious. The service was top-notch. Highly recommend if you’re willing to splurge a bit.

From the moment we arrived, we were looked after and made to feel like our stay really mattered to all of the excellent staff.
After messaging the hotel in advance through the Expedia app to ask about car parking, they met us at the hotel entrance and parked the car for us in a local garage.
The hotel is situated overlooking the Ponte Vechio bridge, which is one of the finest views in Florence. The architecture is unspoilt and you feel like you are immediately transported to the Renaissance period.
Inside the hotel, the design is Sophisticated with a meticulous attention to detail. We’re here in the middle of Covid and the place is spotlessly clean. Masks are worn inside the communal places and hand sanitizers are positioned discreetly for our use.
As it’s an Expedia VIP hotel, we received both a bottle of Prosecco and also a room upgrade. The upgrade probably due to less demand during covid. ( the hotel is usually sold out in the high season. )
We’re staying with 3 children and all the staff have been excellent with them. Especially Francesco and Carolina who looked after us on arrival.
A visit to the Uffizi galllery was made easier, by the hotel, as they arranged for ‘skip the line’ tickets. Massively appreciated in the heat of the day.
The rooms overlooking the Ponte Vechio round off what has been a fantastic visit.
When we come back to Florence, we’ll be booking the Portrait hotel again for sure!

Stayed 7 nights early June. Hotel is a location for major museums with front row view of Ponte Vecchio and the Arno. This hotel easily rates as 7 stars with finest linens and beautiful fabrics used throughout, in Cafe dell Oro and bathrooms. Every inch stylishly designed with detailed, yet restrained and exuding comfort and relaxation. Kitchenette with dishwasher and microwave, Nespresso machine (no ration on capsules and water always topped up ready to go), silver cutlery, soy milk in fridge, beautiful sofas - the list goes on. Lifestyle managers organised tour guides and Florence pass, plus booked restaurants. We are greeted always as we come and go. This hotel sets a high standard for others to match! Well located in the city of Florence. Small reception area. Make sure you understand your views from the room. You might end up facing a close neighbor. on arrival, our room had a foul smell. After a quick complain I was move to a better unit with no smell. Thanks to our great concierge!

The portrait is what you would expect from a 5 star hotel: beautiful and well run. It’s central location is amazing. The stuff was friendly and supportive.
With a 5 star hotel review in context, here are my reservations:
- we had a deluxe room with a river view. It is a very expensive room but not the most expensive in the hotel. Yet, that side of the hotel is on the street. The noise isolation, despite the double glass is not sufficient and we were often awaken by shouting in th street (we were in the third floor) and scooters passing by. The hotel could have done better here. A triple glass would have helped.
- I find the bath area to be very small and crowded for a room of 50 square meters With 2 rooms.
- the breakfast wasn’t included and it’s cost was 38 euro per person. This is a very high price, probably the highest I ever paid in a hotel. We ate there once. It wasn’t worth it.

If you are looking for a grand old hotel with renaissance design, this is not the hotel for you. But if you are looking for a very stylish and tastefully designed (by Salvatore Ferragamo) hotel, look no further. Well located along Lingarno degli Acciaiuoli by the Arno river, its just on the fringe of the historical city. 1 minute walk to the popular Ponte Vecchio, 5 mins walk to Via de' Tornabuoni (shopping!), museums and under 15 mins, one can reach Piazza della Signoria, Piazza della Repubblica and even the iconic Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore at Piazza del Duomo. Enough said on the location. Now what really left an indelible impression were essentially 2 areas; very well thought out and meticulously designed rooms and its service level.
We had the family suite for 2 adults + 2 kids + 6 full sized luggage + 3 hand carry but the room was big enough to accommodate us.
I really love the idea of having 2 separate full sized bathrooms which is ideal for the family. Despite this, we had a comfortable seating area to rest and watch TV (provided the sofa bed was not laid out). Wait till you see the range of toiletries!
Last but definitely not least, the friendly & helpful staff and their service level is certainly outstanding. You feel like it's personalised butler service. Special mention, the Guest Assistant team, Francesco, Baha and Abdel, thank you for making our stay in Portrait Firenze such a memorable one.

The hotel staff made our first visit to Florence very pleasant. They were knowledgeable of restaurants and city activities. When we checked in, we found Suite not overlooking river. We asked the staff and we were given complementary upgrade to next Suite category.

The Perfect Florence Experience
Essentially the perfect place to stay! The hotel itself is beautiful and well designed. The family suite is comfortable and spacious enough for 4 people. The restaurant in the hotel is very, very good. So good in fact you will need to arrange a table early to insure a space for brunch or dinner.
The team managing the lobby are first rate. Any question, reservation, driver, things to do was handled with superb grace and efficiency. We could not have asked for better!

First, this is TRULY a 5 star luxury boutique hotel. The decor has been featured in Architectural Digest. The room was large and beautifully appointed. I had booked this hotel for my honeymoon journey through Italy. As soon as you walk in you know that this is a five star hotel and you absolutely get the five star hotel experience. STUNNING hotel, with staff who cannot do enough for you. The rooms are incredibly stylish and sophisticated and the views from the window over the River Arno and the Ponte Vecchio are to die for. We ate in the Caffe Dell'Oro which was a really special meal - the Balsamic Vinegar is the best I have ever had and made especially for the hotel. The location is great - literally 5 minutes walk from so many of Florence's most stunning buildings. It was very hot when we were there and very busy so the Portrait Firenze was like a cool escape haven - having its own small kitchen and Nespresso coffee machine was perfect.

A gem in Firenze
The visit was flawless in its execution, from the moment of showing up to our departure. The location is perfect to see everything of note in Florence, and the countryside with its very interesting small towns and wineries is easily accessible. This was one of the most authentic and respected and genuine experiences I've ever got, and I travel a lot. The word friendly and class comes shy in describing it. The Service, the staff, the design, the location, the food and oh did I mention the professional staff? They made this trip to Florence extremely memorable. I wish they had more locations in other cities so we could book them, but they only have another property in Rome which that is a win as well for us. Grazie guys.
