Nice premises, however it did not meet my requirements.
The net curtains in the room do not allow for any privacy as other guests can see what's happening in the room, which I discovered when walking about in my underwear! Therefore the drapes need to be drawn during the day to prevent guests from exposing themselves to passers-by.
The absence of a functional television was a major letdown as I wanted to keep up to date with what is happening owing to the situation in the Middle East. Apparently visitors can watch Netflix if they have an account or Youtube!

Sunrock Guesthouse is a little oasis close to the airport. The gardens are beautiful. The pool is warm and inviting (note that the steps are slippery). We stayed TWICE in Room 1, next to the reception and pool and loved it. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were excellent! We appreciated early check-in for morning flight arrivals and luggage storage at reception for evening flight departures. Super accommodating staff. Free airport shuttle for hotel guests. Highly recommend Sunrock Guesthouse!

Picked up from the airport by Testimony- who then saw us all the way to our room. The room was clean and spacious and perfect for our short stay. Great shower and lovely toiletries. Had the buffet dinner- not the biggest array but all very tasty especially the fried chicken- excellent. Breakfast equally lovely, with eggs made to order. Enjoyed a tour with Tumi- great guy who was fun and energetic and informative. Overall totally recommend. All staff members were friendly and natural, grounds and hotel clean tidy and clearly cared for. Would be very happy to stay again. Thank you!! 😊

Close to the airport. This is a 4 star property with a free shuttle and a beautifful property. My travel agent was trying to sell me on a 5 star hotel that was going to cost triple. I was very happy I stayed here. I would definitely stay again if I came back to Johannesburg!

They picked my family up directly from the airport because our flight got in late and they even made us sandwiches because everything was closed. The hotel staff were incredible, sent me a whats app before my arrival with clear instructions on the transfer and driver. The property is immaculately kept, with pretty gardens. The room was basic, but very confortable. The dinner (additional cost) was delicious, home cooked dishes, as well as dessert included. Breakfast was included in the rate, and as I was leaving early the staff organised take away breakfast for me, sandwiches, snacks, fruit and juice. All the food was fantastic. For the low price I paid for this one night stay, it far exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend sun rock.

Perfect pitstop pre-flight.
The staff were friendly and welcoming at all stages. The room was big, very clean and with a comfortable bed. Breakfast and dinner are buffet style., with breakfast eggs cooked freshly to order. There’s a firepit, which is nice to sit round with a beer in the evening and there is also a bar and hot drinks also available. The place feels very secure and the gardens are full of lovely flowers. The pool is a reasonable size and very clean. There is noise from the airport which is only about 2km away but there are no overnight flights so your sleep isn’t disturbed. This was a really nice place to stay before flying out of JNB. It’s possible also to arrange tours from here. The team were also really accommodating about a late checkout (this is charged according to duration of stay). Highly recommended.

Jackie, and Letty, the other receptionist couldn’t be more helpful with anything and I mean anything. They do it all and with smiles.
Today, before we checked out, we asked if they had laundry facilities, and Jackie, said, “Yes, give it to me.” They will even do laundry for you! Cheap.
Did I mention the food? Nope. Let me tell you about last night’s dinner. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten as much during a Thanksgiving feast, nor as delectable. Kudos to all the chefs and kitchen staff.

We stayed for 1 night while passing through Johannesburg. The complimentary airport shuttle is convenient and our driver was very friendly. Upon arrival, our bags were taken to our room and we got a quick tour of the property. There is a breakfast buffet and dinner buffet, both of which offered variety and good quality food. The bar was well stocked as well. All of the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and even helped us order UberEats delivery for lunch since they don’t provide lunch. We sat outside, ate lunch and had beers from the bar. The grounds are beautiful and felt safe. Our room was clean and minimal, but a nice place to stay after 24 hours of flying. The pool is heated, and while we didn’t use it, many people did and said how nice it was to have a warm pool to relax. We were incredibly happy with our stay, and would stay again if passing through Johannesburg.

We stay only one night to rest from a long trip from the US. This hotel is close to the JBN airport and it was the best option for us to have dinner since we arrived at 7pm.

From the time our shuttle driver testimony picked us up to the time. Tony dropped us back at the airport. We were 100% happy with our choice to stay at so I’m not guest house. The girls at the desk, the cleaning crew, the spotless, clean, comfy rooms. The natural beauty of the property were amazing! The breakfast buffet was unbelievable and we highly recommend you pay for the dinner buffet that they serve between seven and 8:15 in the evening. Solomon and his cooking crew prepared many delicious dishes. We highly recommend the chicken skewers. Coffee cappuccino espresso tea is available 24 hours. We have absolutely nothing bad to say about our stay here, we stay two nights, but wish we were able to stay longer. Sun is just minutes from the airport. They have a huge dining area with pool table bar exercise rooms, and a gift shop. I don’t know where they find these amazing employees but every single person contributed to our very happy stay at Sun rock guesthouse. Highly highly recommend.

Stayed 3 nights at the guesthouse after an organized tour in SA. Chose the guesthouse to stay at because of proximity to the airport, the availability of the airport shuttle, and overall prior guest reviews. Lovely property! The neighborhood outside the walls is a little rough, but inside the walls it was quite comfortable and safe. The evening dinner buffets were not gourmet, but very tasty and quite affordably priced. The cabana next to the pool has a pool table, bar and an upstairs exercise area, in addition to plenty of seating for diners. Drinks were very affordably priced. Our room was Cold the first night, but a heater was brought in at our request, which made a huge difference. The bathroom was cold, but we used the heater in there too, to make it not quite so frigid. I would definitely stay here again and would encourage everyone to seriously consider this housing option if you have a few extra nights in Johannesburg.

Beautiful small hotel near the airport with free shuttle service. The grounds are very beautiful! The staff were helpful and considerate. The dinner and breakfast were also very good and well prepared. The area outside the walls of the hotel looked pretty scary, but we felt very safe within it's walls. It is truly an oasis within the surrounding chaos.

Stylish hotel with mice in the bedrooms
On checking in we found a mouse on the bed.
We reported it and it took 20 mins to get support with removing it, with 4 members of staff present it took us to do most the work in removing it. No apologies, though they did change the bedsheets.
We found mouse droppings on the bed coverings and behind the wardrobe, so looks like it had been there a while.
We asked to be changed rooms, which was refused as apparently fully booked.
Without the mouse experience and poor customer service the hotel would have been a nice oasis in a rough part of Johannesburg. It does have a nice heated outside pool.
If I had been paying 500 Rand, i would have been disappointed but not left a poor review, but at over 2000 Rand and apparently 4 star, I found the staff response poor.

We stayed here twice before and after our flight to Mauritius. The Staff is super nice and they are great with airport pickup and drop off. It is also very close to the airport. They have a free breakfast and offer a dinner buffet in the evening. it is a very nice property, all rooms are on ground floor with nice green space around, a nice pool area, beautiful garden and bar area.
