I would highly recommend Sunrock Guesthouse for anyone needing accomodations near JNB airport. The guesthouse is located five minutes away. The rooms are very clean and modern. The bed was very comfortable. The entire property was spotlessly clean and well maintained. The property had a cozy feel to it, as the pictures suggest. The staff go above and beyond and the food was excellent. I had trouble with lost luggage which required a additional trip back to the airport and a long wait by the driver, the guesthouse was helpful in this regard l'm happy to say. I would recommend Sunrock to single travelers as well as families.

Stayed here simply as a nights stopover before air transfer and it serves that purpose as it is close to the airport, safe, and has a regular shuttle. Breakfast is good too with many selections bound to satisfy anyone. On the other hand our room was not very clean: dirt on the sheets and the bathroom was particularly bad with water leaking across the floor, cold and unappealing, and the shower was grotesquely dirty. We faced the pool too which was always packed with screaming children. I definitely would not recommend or return

The price did not match the experience. We expected peace and quiet at night, professionalism, and basic consideration and got none.

An oasis and a welcome unwind after a flight to Jo'burg. Everyone seems to be going somewhere the next day when they fly into Africa's largest airport. If looking for a quick overnight, Sunrock Guest House offers free shuttle service, a homemade breakfast, and comfortable guest quarters. As an added treat, the grounds offer beautiful water features surrounded by sculptures and tropical foliage, a relaxing way to end a long travel day.

Look, it was an incredible experience staying at Sunrock. Everything worked perfectly well from the very beginning. The check-in was smooth, even though we arrived at night, and the staff was extremely attentive at all times.
When we arrived, dinner service had already ended, but with great kindness, they prepared sandwiches for us, which made all the difference after the trip. The breakfast was excellent, and the dinner the next day was simply delicious.
It was truly a very rewarding experience to be in this place… welcoming, well-organized, and with genuine care for the guests.

Needed the airport shuttle having just arrived in S.A with kids at 11pm. Was a bit concerned about waiting in the bus terminal at that time for the shuttle. But everything was fine, quick and we felt safe. Excellent family room and fresh breakfast. Beautiful grounds, would happily come back. Staff are very friendly. Property is surprisingly funky with its outdoor decor. Rooms are basic with good quality linen, comfortable bed, lots of hot water, good shower pressure. Towels are a bit sad. No fridge. Very noisy location, particularly from within the property itself. Breakfast was ok. Did not have any other meals on the premises. Scruffy location for where it is situated but quite safe.

Clean comfortable rooms and facilities sucn as the bar, dinning area and spa. Tranfer service is a godsend and efficient with good communication. If we are near johannesburg again (likely) and need a stop over, will definatly re book.

Sunrock Guesthouse is a little oasis close to the airport. The gardens are beautiful. The pool is warm and inviting (note that the steps are slippery). We stayed TWICE in Room 1, next to the reception and pool and loved it. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were excellent! We appreciated early check-in for morning flight arrivals and luggage storage at reception for evening flight departures. Super accommodating staff. Free airport shuttle for hotel guests. Picked up from the airport by Testimony- who then saw us all the way to our room. The room was clean and spacious and perfect for our short stay. Great shower and lovely toiletries. Had the buffet dinner- not the biggest array but all very tasty especially the fried chicken- excellent. Breakfast equally lovely, with eggs made to order. Enjoyed a tour with Tumi- great guy who was fun and energetic and informative. Overall totally recommend. All staff members were friendly and natural, grounds and hotel clean tidy and clearly cared for. Would be very happy to stay again. Thank you!! 😊

They picked my family up directly from the airport because our flight got in late and they even made us sandwiches because everything was closed. The hotel staff were incredible, sent me a whats app before my arrival with clear instructions on the transfer and driver. The property is immaculately kept, with pretty gardens. The room was basic, but very confortable. The dinner (additional cost) was delicious, home cooked dishes, as well as dessert included. Breakfast was included in the rate, and as I was leaving early the staff organised take away breakfast for me, sandwiches, snacks, fruit and juice. All the food was fantastic. For the low price I paid for this one night stay, it far exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend sun rock.

Perfect pitstop pre-flight.
The staff were friendly and welcoming at all stages. The room was big, very clean and with a comfortable bed. Breakfast and dinner are buffet style., with breakfast eggs cooked freshly to order. There’s a firepit, which is nice to sit round with a beer in the evening and there is also a bar and hot drinks also available. The place feels very secure and the gardens are full of lovely flowers. The pool is a reasonable size and very clean. There is noise from the airport which is only about 2km away but there are no overnight flights so your sleep isn’t disturbed. This was a really nice place to stay before flying out of JNB. It’s possible also to arrange tours from here. The team were also really accommodating about a late checkout (this is charged according to duration of stay). Highly recommended.

Jackie, and Letty, the other receptionist couldn’t be more helpful with anything and I mean anything. They do it all and with smiles.
Today, before we checked out, we asked if they had laundry facilities, and Jackie, said, “Yes, give it to me.” They will even do laundry for you! Cheap.
Did I mention the food? Nope. Let me tell you about last night’s dinner. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten as much during a Thanksgiving feast, nor as delectable. Kudos to all the chefs and kitchen staff.

We stayed for 1 night while passing through Johannesburg. The complimentary airport shuttle is convenient and our driver was very friendly. Upon arrival, our bags were taken to our room and we got a quick tour of the property. There is a breakfast buffet and dinner buffet, both of which offered variety and good quality food. The bar was well stocked as well. All of the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and even helped us order UberEats delivery for lunch since they don’t provide lunch. We sat outside, ate lunch and had beers from the bar. The grounds are beautiful and felt safe. Our room was clean and minimal, but a nice place to stay after 24 hours of flying. The pool is heated, and while we didn’t use it, many people did and said how nice it was to have a warm pool to relax. We were incredibly happy with our stay, and would stay again if passing through Johannesburg.

A wonderful little oasis just 5 minutes from the Jburg airport. Serene environment with comfy rooms, delicious food and a lovely, accommodating spa. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

We stay only one night to rest from a long trip from the US. This hotel is close to the JBN airport and it was the best option for us to have dinner since we arrived at 7pm.

From the time our shuttle driver testimony picked us up to the time. Tony dropped us back at the airport. We were 100% happy with our choice to stay at so I’m not guest house. The girls at the desk, the cleaning crew, the spotless, clean, comfy rooms. The natural beauty of the property were amazing! The breakfast buffet was unbelievable and we highly recommend you pay for the dinner buffet that they serve between seven and 8:15 in the evening. Solomon and his cooking crew prepared many delicious dishes. We highly recommend the chicken skewers. Coffee cappuccino espresso tea is available 24 hours. We have absolutely nothing bad to say about our stay here, we stay two nights, but wish we were able to stay longer. Sun is just minutes from the airport. They have a huge dining area with pool table bar exercise rooms, and a gift shop. I don’t know where they find these amazing employees but every single person contributed to our very happy stay at Sun rock guesthouse. Highly highly recommend.

Stayed 3 nights at the guesthouse after an organized tour in SA. Chose the guesthouse to stay at because of proximity to the airport, the availability of the airport shuttle, and overall prior guest reviews. Lovely property! The neighborhood outside the walls is a little rough, but inside the walls it was quite comfortable and safe. The evening dinner buffets were not gourmet, but very tasty and quite affordably priced. The cabana next to the pool has a pool table, bar and an upstairs exercise area, in addition to plenty of seating for diners. Drinks were very affordably priced. Our room was Cold the first night, but a heater was brought in at our request, which made a huge difference. The bathroom was cold, but we used the heater in there too, to make it not quite so frigid. I would definitely stay here again and would encourage everyone to seriously consider this housing option if you have a few extra nights in Johannesburg.
