No AC, just a fan. Restaurant fully dinner booked for days before I arrived. Breakfast service was great. Pool area tidy. Carpet and wall paint aged. Tub was great. Housekeeping staff unnecessarily noisy and left multiple doors open while cleaning, flying bugs and brown spiders in the room after they left. WiFi constantly down. Office staff though exceptional, professional, helpful. The early and constant church bells on the weekend were unexpected and the primary reason I will not be returning.

An amazing stay run by a rop notch family owned hotel group. Staff is superb. Bedding like a cloud of comfort. Restaurant is 5 star and even produces a delicious vegan course selection on request. Grounds are beyond description. Inner formal gardens surrounded by landscapes complete with wild horses! Excellent indoor pool and spa. Great place to take a nap. Will return for sure.

The hotel was a good deal as the room was spacious and included items in the mini bar. You could also use the spa facilities.
However, if your rate doesn't include breakfast, it is 37.50€ per person! We went elsewhere.
We treated ourselves to dinner in the Salon. If you like fine dining with matched wines, you will enjoy the experience.

Set in a beautiful location, the buildings and grounds are stunning. We had a standard room which was perfect for our needs, comfortable bed, lots of room. Couldn’t fault. Valkenburg is a very pleasant 30 minute walk through the neighbouring nature reserve.

This place is beautiful. The property is immaculate and it’s just tucked away enough to seem remote while only being a five minute drive to Valkenburg. We felt like we were royalty and the staff made extra efforts to encourage that feeling. I would definitely recommend this place and if I return to the area I would stay here again.

Very beautiful grounds, large rooms. comfortable beds, friendly staff.

But, kids can't use the pool 12 to 4, so that makes it difficult to have a swim your last day. Everything on site VERY expensive, and Restaurant could not seat us. We had to go into town, and wanted to stay on the grounds the whole time, not drive into town. Breakfast was 32Euro a person. The whole experience was not worth the price.

Lovely weekend at The Château

We stayed here for the weekend and love the place! Everything is more than we expected.
After reading negative reviews about the Senior Suite room, we were surprised that the room we had is beautiful, very specious and comfortable. It’s on the ground floor and having 2 big windows over looking the beautiful garden. Friendly staff and the dinner at the Bistro is a must, it has a nice ambiance. We also tried the pool/ sauna and Turkish bath. The opportunity for the late checkout completes this perfect weekend. It’s a lovely places, recommended!

Hotel property is some of the best we’ve stayed at. Excellent location and beautifull grounds. Upon booking I requested a room upgrade as we were celebrating our 10 year anniversary. This did not happen, a little disappointing. They did leave some cake in our room. Staff was sufficient with the exception of 1 barman, he was excellent and very helpful!

Unusual Hot Weather Proved a Problem

The Hotel st. Gerlach is a jewel in the Province of Limburg. Great EVERYTHING. I have only one caveat. There was a massive unusual heatwave throughout Holland during our stay, and day temperatures reached into the mid-90's. Unfortunately, the area of the hotel where we stayed had no air conditioning at all..and our room had only a fan and windows that would barely open. It was, sadly, uncomfortably hot. The hotel was not built for this unusual weather. So if a cool room is a must, wait until the weather cools down before booking, Otherwise, everything else is FIVE STAR in this hotel.

Really enjoyed staying here, nice room, sizeable, comfortable bed, helpful staff, shuttle to town available also bikes and vespas for hire. Tried three out of four eating places, food in both excellent. Bistro staff very friendly and helpful.
The grounds were outstanding, well laid out and kept. Interesting sculptures, beautiful orchard, lovely rose gardens, great to sit in and enjoy the surroundings.

Beautiful hotel in a stunning setting that allows dogs! The hotel is such a gem of a find. I have no idea how I stumbled upon it, but I'm glad I did. It's a place we will return to when we feel like treating ourselves.

The downside of travelling with a dog from the UK is that we have to go by car the long way around as flying with our canine family member in cargo is just not a real option and Eurostar is still the only train not allowing dogs. Boring. BUT, the advantage is that we always discover something new. We would have never been in the Maastricht area if not travelling with a dog. So it is amazing when places like this allow dogs, as now we will actually come back on purpose.

The hotel setting is just stunning. Sculpture park, rose garden, orchards. It's so relaxing to just stroll around. You can hire a bike, get your lunch as a picnic, borrow wellies when the weather is a bit wet.

We didn't have a chance to try the main restaurant and went to their bistro, but we didn't feel like missing out. The food was amazing! Wonderful quality and really interesting flavour combinations. And again, our dog was very welcome to rest under the table. At the entrance of the property is also a separate cafe, which was just as lovely. A lot of the ingredients are locally sourced and we were super excited to take home an apple & pear butter made with their orchard produce and honey that was harvested 3 weeks ago from their own beehive.

My boyfriend and I were delighted in our stay at the chateau. As an interior designer, it was over the top for me to stay in a lovely historical chateau. With our inexpensive Expedia price, we were put up in a room that was a little cheaply decorated compared to the rest of the property. Although comfortable, our ceiling was plywood with a little faux finish. The main chateau where the restaurants and apartments were was incredible. We paid $254 for our night. We would stay again. Eat at the bistro to save money... the food is first rate. I had the frog legs and sweet breads, my boyfriend slow cook salmon and dorade white fish with a cheese course. All fantastic! We are glad that we stumbled upon this magnificent hotel. It is rated as Holland's #1 Chateau.

A stay that could have been better

Stayed at 2 bed/2 bath apartment, requested for apartment with terrace but was not accommodated though available. Front desk on weekdays was mostly efficient though famale receptionists on duty during weekend were cold, abrupt and unable to offer information regarding neaby towns. Housekeeping, bristro and resstaurant, on the other hand, offered excellent service.

A Delightful Taste of Luxury

We very much enjoyed staying at this castle property. The estate property is stunning. Our room was in the hotel building and it was lovely. This is also where the delicious breakfast buffet is served. The chapel attached to the castle is a magnificent structure. Don't miss seeing it! There is also a wonderful indoor pool in the castle. While the castle houses the dining room and bistro, we found their lunch and dinner menus very limited and very expensive, so we didn't eat at either place, but we did explore them and they were beautiful. We found a lovely hotel restaurant in the village, that served a huge, delicious dinner for a very reasonable price. Strolling the immaculate, extensive grounds with their well laid out gardens and statuary was so calming. We felt like aristocrats at Chateau Saint Gerlach.

Stunning Surprise Resort, will DEFINITELY go back!

We stumbled onto this gem of a hotel, because everything in Aachen was booked for the night. It is a beautiful old country chateau (and formerly a working abbey in earlier centuries), updated to modern standards and operating as a hotel. The room we had was an apartment with 2 bedrooms, excellent for families traveling with children. The grounds for the hotel include broad, beautiful lawns with sculpture throughout, as well as several different rose & formal gardens and walking paths with stunning landscaping. I think they only have 30-some rooms, so it's a very relaxed, quiet vibe even when full.

The hotel was very reasonably priced, especially considering the spacious rooms and the high-class experience that comes with a stay here. We slept with the dormer windows open, and awoke to the sound of bells tolling in the nearby town and birds chirping in the gardens. No street noise, no delivery or garbage trucks doing their business all night, just a relaxing stay at a swank resort. It was wonderfully relaxing, and easily worth twice the price. Highly recommended if you want the experience of a stay at an Old European Resort.

Great, relaxed hotel but be ready to pay!

This hotel is a wonderful experience. You are very nicely looked after and the bar, bistro and restaurant are real highlights. We also enjoyed a great day at the spa where my new wife and I enjoyed a hot stone massage. Having said all that it is worth noting that some things are more expensive than they should be, especially breakfast, so be careful as you are charging things to your room!

The hotel is a beautiful property. The only downside was when we arrived in the late afternoon, we were told there were no dinner reservations available, even though there are two restaurants in the hotel. However, when we were ready to go out around 7 in the evening we noticed many vacant tables in the restaurant and were offered seating due to \"cancellations\".

A perfect get away

We had a fantastic weekend here. The setting is beautiful and where else in the world can you literally step out of your hotel room and enter a fantastic baroque church? Both of the restaurants are fantastic, but on busy weekends be sure to book ahead. We could not get into the bistro on our second night but we found a great alternative a 10 minute walk from the hotel. There is wonderful biking,walks, runs and a lovely indoor pool area. The staff was friendly and helpful. My ONLY complaint was that there is no gym. In a hotel of this size with a spa there should be a gym and workout area. It is not a big deal in the summertime but when the weather is not ideal a gym would be appreciated.

The only hotel to stay at in Valkenburg

This hotel is fantastic...it's a beautiful former Chateau located right outside (approx. 3km) of city center Valkenburg and 15 minutes from Maastricht. The hotel provides a free shuttle to Maastricht, so you don't have to worry about traffic. Everyone there was extremely friendly, and the rooms were fantastic. I'm not sure if we'll ever return to Valkenburg, but if we do, we're staying here agian.

kwam hier alleen voor wat rust. ontzettend aardig ontvangen door een gastheer. instructies voor waar de kamer was erg duidelijk. zeer rustige en mooie omgeving. echt tot rust gekomen op deze geweldige locatie.
tot slot er achter gekomen mijn oplader vergeten te zijn. de heer aan de telefoon belde mij spoedig terug en met enkele dagen alweer thuis geleverd. kom zeker een keer terug. bedankt voor de goede zorgen!

Omdat we in de buurt wilden dineren voor Valentijn.

We zagen de foto’s. Van een kasteel. En waren gecharmeerd.

Bij aankomst inchecken was chaotisch. Lang wachten.
De kamers moet men bereiken door buiten te gaan.
Onze luxe kamer was net aan een uitgang zeer slechte geluids isolatie. Dus veel
Lawaai.
Kamer ook vrij donker zeker ter hoogte kleerkast
Bij uitchecken werd ons nog parking aangerekend.
Prijs kwaliteit is dit duur.

Wat een geweldig mooie en inspirerende plek om te mogen verblijven. Wandelen over het terrein met alle kunst, de prachtige kerk en de natuur is een genot. De kamers zijn ruim, prettig, weliswaar gedateerd. Diner in Les Salon zalig. Personeel deed uiterste best om gastvrij te zijn ondanks dat ze duidelijk onderbezet waren!

It was a wonderful stay especially because of the surrounding and restaurant Les Salons. Unfortunately the rooms are a bit outdated and ready for some renovation. Breakfast on the room was mesiochre and it was quite noisy in the room due to upstair neighbours. But the dinner at the restaurant was marvellous and so were the service and surroundings.

Goed verblijf in mooi gelegen hotel

Mooi gelegen hotel met veel faciliteiten. Op een aantal kleine zaken is verbetering mogelijk. In de ontbijtzaal zou een klein afval bakje op tafel handig zijn. In de avond is de laatste roomservice wat erg voortvarend. Je krijgt nauwelijks tijd om zelf de deur open te doen. Ontbijt is te duur voor het gebodene. Daarnaast zijn sommige plaatsen wel erg dicht op het buffet geplaatst. Klimaat beheersing op de classic room liet, net als de ventilatie in de badkamer, te wensen over.
Wij hadden een kamer boven de ingang. In de nacht geluidsoverlast door gasten die luidruchtig terug keerden van een avond stappen. Op de rust op het terrein zou beter gelet moeten worden

Ons verblijf op het chateau was een geweldige belevenis. Heel relaxt. De beeldentuin heeft daar zeker aan bijgedragen.
Het enige wat minder goed was, zijn de badschoentjes/slofjes voor bij het zwembad. De vloer is spekglad en de kans dat je uitglijdt is super groot. Antislip zooltjes zou de boel oplossen.

fijn weekend op een behoorlijk niveau

Mooi Chateau, goed onderhouden en een prima service kamers waren net gerenoveerd en zien prima uit. misschien een tip. gebruiksaanwijzing voor de diverse licht schakelaars en knoppen in de douche.
