Great breakfast options. Even some American-specific options. Parking was all automated and gated. Very convenient which is not always the case in this part of the world. HVAC was quiet and efficient. Some older hotels have no A/C so this was nice. Great bed and bedding.

Nice family hotel

A nice hotel quietly situated just outside the city but only a 25-30 minute stroll to the centre. Rooms are clean, well equipped, and comfortable. The reception area is welcoming and the staff are very friendly and efficient. The bar area and restaurant are very good and there is a nice childrens play area. Outside is a lovely terrace area and pool. All in all a very nice family hotel. Couple of gripes. Firstly the car used to be free but now 13 euros per night. Considering the out of town location I cannot see the reason for this other than money making. Secondly, as with all hotels worldwide, check your bill before leaving. I had 121 euros added to my bill for laundry, which I did not use. In fairness this was immediately refunded buutttt !

Die Empfangsdame war sehr freundlich. Der Aufzug war ausser Betrieb, daher mussten wir über einen dunklen, verschmutzten Treppenaufgang in die 3.Etage. Zimmer war sauber und gut ausgestattet, das Frühstück überschaubar.
Den Parkplatz haben wir nicht genutzt da in Hotelnähe noch kostenlose Parkplätze vorhanden waren.

Great stop over

Great short stay on our way home from holiday. Staff were very welcoming and the room was clean. A little out from the center which is great for driving through, not much for restaurants near by and kitchens close early. We were able to get delivery to hotwl whichwas perfectly fine!

a 4 story hotel with one elevator is not very convenient. wait times to get to your room are long.
the location is in a suburb of the city, thus public transportation is very limited.

For the relatively cheap price this was an excellent one night stay in a superior double room. Bed was comfy, plenty of pillows, good seating, easy car parking (should be free), friendly and efficient service.

We had a meal in the restaurant - the drinks and food came super quick and dinner was very tasty (fish n chips). The waiter / chef was awesome - friendly, efficient, professional, quick, multi tasker and well presented.

Issues with our stay - we had to run the shower for about 5 or more minutes before it got to the right temperature - pressure wasn’t that great. The other issue was the pool being shut just because it was raining. Really? Would we get wet or something?

During low tourism, and low occupancy, I would have expected more. We left 1 day early, due to changed travel plans, I accept that the fee was non-refundable. However additional charge for car parking / when the car park was empty and charging for coffee on final morning, when we were not using the extra paid night is simply poor. Good gesture of free coffee and free parking would have encouraged my return. Next time I'll stay somewhere else...

the hotel offers everything which is needed either for a stay for business or for leissure with a family. Good breakfast, clean rooms (a bit small for families), a nice lobby and bar, a good restaurant with fresh food, bikes to rent, an outdoor swimming pool, table soccer and table tennis etc.

Very comfortable stay, 20 mins walk to the town through a perfectly reasonable residential area then through some shops and over the station bridge to end up directly in the old town. No problems for us booking the shuttle bus. Hotel provided plenty of outdoor games for the kids as it was warm including basketball, football, table tennis, patanque, a small swimming pool and swim and slide, plus indoor play area with bricks and an xbox360 connect. Restaurant looked very nice too, very relaxed atmosphere, all perfect for our needs.

Hotel ok. A bit out from centre but we knew that however nothing much around, need to walk 30 mins. Courtesy bus was a great bonus. Not impressed that you only get 1 coffee pod per person for the 2 night stay if you want more it’s a Euro each!! Also one small milk each per day, I had to beg to the maid for 1 milk to have a cup of tea!! Otherwise all good and we were there for Andre Rieu so it was a fabulous trip.

Nice room. Friendly staff. The games room and arcade were not as advertised. The games room had a fuzeball table that you needed to pay for and a ping pong table with one set of rackets and one broken ball. The arcade had one Xbox with only one controller.

Perfect place if you're going to the art fair

I thought it was the perfect place if you're going to the Tefaf art fair. I walked to the fair both days. Hotel shuttle will take you. It's not very near the old town but for me it was fine. Staff was so nice, all so helpful. I forgot my sweater in my hotel room in Brussels, when I stayed before Maastricht, and they called the hotel and tracked it down for me. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful

Having previously stayed in several Novotels in Europe and America the Novotel Maastricht let’s the chain down badly. Surly staff, (with 3 exceptions - Mitchell, Josh the English waiter and another male receptionist). Poor food with breakfast (extra charge and not included) practically non existent. Hot breakfast was one two sectioned container with mini sausages and cremated streaky bacon and another with solid rubber scrambled egg. Ask the female in charge for fresh or for a fried egg at your peril. A really old looking toaster which only took one slice of bread was totally inadequate for guests’ needs. I was tempted to purchase a new one for them given how little toasters cost. Refusal to replenish cheese, yogurt and even bread was normal. The room maid FORBADE me entry to the washbasin to wash my hands having just used the separate poky toilet which has no washbasin as she wanted to vacuum the floor! Not carpet but vinyl covering. The courtesy bus is a joke as it only takes clients into Maastricht, stops 6.00pm weekdays and doesn't do return journey to hotel meaning taxis or buses. It stops at 1.00pm on Sundays which is early at the weekend. The one saving grace of this place is the nice pool and it’s surrounding area. As regular visitors to Maastricht this is one hotel we definitely will not return to.

Nicely situated hotel for an easy cycle in to town

Chose this hotel predominantly for ease of parking and other reviewers experiences of how easy it is to get to the centre. We were using cycles but it could easily be done on foot in 15-20 mins. The pool facility was also very welcome. The reception staff were excellent.

Nice hotel, but...

Generally the hotel was nice, clean, and we had a nice stay. However, the staff was not so friendly. For instance, when I told the guy at check out \"Happy Easter\", he literally scoffed at me. Scoffed! Nothing else. Even if you don't want to work on Easter Sunday, you're supposed to pretend like you want to. Come on. Also, when I received an upgrade to two connecting rooms, because the room I booked had a sofa bed that only fit one person (although they said it would comfortably fit two people), the said the upgrade would cost 40 Euros extra per night. So I agreed. Once we moved our room, got settled, I came to give back the old keys. The lady then said that her manager said she made a mistake and the upgrade would now cost 65 Euros extra per night. And although this was HER mistake, they expected me to pay it. I don't quite find that ok.
Also, my daughter ordered Ceasar Salad and asked for it without the chicken (she's vegetarian). The waiter looked at her funny, took the order, and then walked to over to the cook to and said loud enough for us to hear, \"One CEASAR SALAD\".. while putting his hands in quotation marks. Very sarcastic.

So, besides the staff some of whom seemed quite sarcastic and not so generally glad to be there, the hotel was nice. One day the cleaning people did not clean our room. They just tucked in the toilet paper. I made the beds myself. But it was obvious that no actual cleaning had been done. Oh well. Maybe this was a bad weekend for the hotel.

New Years visit to Maastricht

Nice hotel within easy reach of the city centre. If you don’t want to walk the 20 minutes to the centre, the hotel provides a shuttle service every hour but you need to book this in advance.

There is no return shuttle, but they suggest using a local taxi with a special rate of €8.50 which we did on a few occasions. The one time we really needed the return taxi, we couldn’t get through on the phone so we picked up a local taxi from outside the main station and it only cost €7.50 on New Years Eve, go figure.

Overall, it was a nice stay.

There was fecal matter on the wall in the bathroom! The bed wasn’t comfortable and the air conditioning didn’t cool the room properly. The hotel isn’t located conveniently either so do yourself a favor and book another hotel. The one ok part was the bar area. Had a few beers in the bar/lounge area.

Great hotel especially in the summer for families

Came to do Ironman and brought my family with me. This hotel was perfect. The garden with the swimming pool, grass, table tennis, and seating provided a perfect oasis and my children loved it. A bit of a walk into the city centre, but bikes were available to hire and there was a free shuttle service which we used on our first day. I was allowed to keep my bike in my room as were all other Ironman people and my kids bikes were safely locked in a general room on the ground floor. Food in the restaurant was the best we had in any restaurants in Maastricht. Staff were excellent. Couldn't fault the hotel. Would definitely stay here again.

We were happy with our room, but the check-in process was a bit of a nightmare, took a long time (we were there for an Andre Rieu concert as were others checking in at the same time as us) but the hotel clearly hadn't allowed for the peak demand. Also we were not informed of a 50 euros deposit that would be taken from the credit card, so ended up with an unexpected charge on the account so room for improvement on the communications front!

Quiet location, great service

Overall we had a very positive experience. The rooms and public areas were very well appointed and bright. The service was great -- the rooms were cleaned promptly every morning, the pool was well maintained, the desk staff were very helpful with several problems we had with local transportation, and the breakfast was well prepared. The local area was quiet, and although the location was further from the city center than most local hotels, it was still within reasonable walking distance, and we also used the hotel's shuttle (although it didn't offer as many departures as we would have liked.) Also, like all of the Netherlands, Maastricht is very bicycle-friendly and the hotels has bikes available for rent. Our only complaints were that the elevator was out of order for a day, and the stairwells have very stinky old carpeting.

The hotel was comfortable with good facilities. It was some way out from the centre and the free shuttle only takes 8 people on an hourly service and it is one way only. Thus taxis at 8.5 euro minimum are required to get back even if you can get a free trip in. Breakfast was fine, there is a small pool. Staff excellent, a nice stay.

Great family hotel for weekend break

Weather prevented us form taking advantage of the outdoor pool which would have been an additional bonus, but was still a great hotel for a family with small kids to spend a weekend break in Maastricht, with good outdoor and indoor play areas. Staff were very friendly and understanding in dealing with a broken glass, food thrown on the floor and general trail of destruction left by our two little ones. Food at dinner was very good and reasonably priced, and breakfast was also fine. Hotel is 25 mins walk to the town centre, from which it used to be separated by the motorway running through the city, but the opening of the tunnel now means that it's a quiet and unpolluted promenade. There's also an hourly shuttle bus provided by the hotel if the walk is too far for you.

Nicer than NH hotel

Comfortable bed. Small room but layout is well-designed. WiFi is fast enough for basic activities like emails cruising on the internet and even watching Netflix movies. For an international oriented hotel it's disappointing that Novotel doesn't offer CNN and parking is not free. Other than that it was a comfortable stay and I recommend it.

This is a great hotel. It's on the edge of town but the hotel has a shuttle into the city centre or it's about 25 minute walk. There is lots for kids to do. There is a small pool but it is quite deep. The food is very good but breakfast is expensive, especially if you are also paying for children. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
