Take the time to view the basement

This was not my first stay at the Derlon but it is my first review. The Derlon is by far my favorite stay in NL. The staff is friendly and helpful, the location is an easy walk from the train station and all about the town. The breakfast area is basically a private archeological viewing of when the city was built. Highly recommend.

We have stayed here several times in the past. Although the location is great the rooms are outdated, specially for the price and the fact it’s a 5 star hotel. 1 little bottle of shampoo and bodywash for 2 people and they were not replaced the 2nd day? 2weeks in the netherlands this was the most expensive one and the only one with no proper bodywash and shampoo provided, this is not to be expected in a 5 star hotel.
I was told 2 years ago they were in progress of updating the rooms not no sign of it?

Glad we stayed here on first Maastricht visit

Location is perfect, and because new lockdown restrictions were imposed just before our stay, we were spared the usual street noise from tourists and diners on the square outside our window. But that also, meant that we could not enjoy the restaurant or lounges in the facility. (Pilots and crew with Fedex had their own lounge area though). Breakfast was picked up in a paper bag and room service had a limited menu. The staff made us feel welcome by offering an extra kettle and tea, however, in such a situation where occupancy is likely low, one wonders why not go the extra mile and offer an upgrade so we will rave and likely come back? The bed was fine but the bathroom could use an update -- dirty tile grout and chipped tub). Water pressure not great.

A very nice stay in Maastricht

The Derlon is in a great location.- big parking garage down the street, wonderful cafes across the street and a bit removed from the busy center but all within walking distance. The hotel itself has a modern and clean interior. As you enter the hotel you walk through the bar and dining area to the reception desk. The breakfast area is downstairs where you will be surrounded by history! You will able to see the foundations of the church next door which were discovered during construction. The room was nicely decorated - blues, greens - quiet, very clean, good internet, comfortable bed, welcoming staff. All-in-all a very relaxing and enjoyable stay!

Central, friendly, nice, but...

Hotel Derlon in Maastricht is a nice hotel placed in the absolute centre of the town.
The room was very clean, the bed very comfortable and furthermore it was
well equipped with Nespresso coffee machines, pods and toiletries en masse.
The breakfast was served in the Roman Museum Cellar, making the experience very unique.
Why not a full smile then.... The room was rather outdated and could do with a refurbishment, the bathroom even more so, as the shower was placed in the bathtub.
Overall nice, but not fantastic.

Great staff but very noisy surroundings

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was also delicious. However I paid for a luxury room and although it was clean and had a few extras like a coffee machine and some toiletries I thought it was small for the huge amount of money. The bathroom was clean and pleasant but had a shower in the bath with a curtain. For that amount of money I would have expected a separate shower and spacious bathroom. The hotel is situated on a square which is festive but a local bar cracked out thumping music until 4 am which was impossible to drown out even with earplugs. Did not enjoy my stay and wouldn’t book it again.

Fabulous building with breakfast area amongst the roman remains under the Hotel. fantastic location right in the middle of the beautiful city and a newly refurbished room with views over the charming square. Hard to beat. Only downside was the expensive valet parking, but worth it after a long drive.

Warm service in heart of Maastricht.

My hotel room was very spacious and I felt at home. The desk was big and laptop can be used easily. The location was ideal for sightseeing. The most fascinating thing was that the dinning area in the basement was surrounded by old ruin at the age of Roman Empire. This was incredible and I never have seen that the basement of hotel was museum! All staff were very kind and professional. I recommend you to stay this hotel if you have a chance to stay in Maastricht.

Charming Maastricht hotel in the prime position

Walking towards the hotel through the square bubbling with cafes, bars and life on a sunny day was a perfect start. Next were the positive friendly staff in the restaurant and at reception and a clean well set out room. Make sure you visit the museum downstairs to see the archaeological history. Breakfast was fine. Sure the lift could have been a little faster and the bed not in 2 parts as I often find in Europe but a real find. I would happily stay there again

Our favorite in Maastricht

We have stayed here several times when we go to Maastricht. This time, as in the past, was a very positive experience. Our room was ready upon arrival and bigger than we had expected, since it was on the corner. This brought good and some negative, since there was more noise. Now, at the beginning of the university year, there were many noisy students on the square late into the night. But, that is the price one pays if you want a room with a view of the square! We loved it overall.

We have stayed at Derlon several times and we keep coming back. But this time was the best. The room was larger than usual, and the weather turned out to be a pleasant surprise, too! Onze Lieve Froweplein is the place to be in Maastricht! We will be back!

Hotel Derlon Maastricht

Our party of three stopped for one night. The hotel is in the old part of the city and is surrounded by traditional narrow streets with some very nice shops close by together with a number of restaurants. The hotel is relatively small and has a boutique feel to it. The basement restaurant, in which breakfast, lunch and evening meals are served, has an intimate atmosphere and includes, as a bonus, an archaeological display.

Hard to get to, But great Once you arrive

The one way streets, pedestrian zones, and bicyclists typical of the old town make this a somewhat challenging destination if arriving be car. The hotel and its environs, however are wonderful. The staff were friendly and informative. The roman ruins downstairs reflect the classic history of Maastricht and remind one that this is truly \" the old town\". Situated on an atmospheric tree filled square with numerous dining options right outside the hotel, but also close to other, larger dining/ shopping possibilities is ideal. I wouldn't consider another hotel in this city- if you can find it!

Fabulous hotel right in the Onze Lieve Frouwplein. Perfect for sitting outside with a drink and relaxing. The staff were super helpful and friendly. Some people have complained about the noise of being on the square, but honestly it wasn't bad. You are in a city. Location is ideal and easy to walk to shops. Will stay here again.

Geniet niet van het ontbijt. Het wordt niet bijgevuld. Veel is op. Je betaald 26 euro voor een kaiserbroodje.
We hebben hier geen ontbijt genuttigd aangezien alles op was en niet meer aanwezig. Ongeveer uur voor sluit ontbijt. Nu proberen we het geld voor niet genuttigd eten terug te krijgen,
Dat is nog niet zo makkelijk!

Hotel Derlon heeft te kampen met onderbezetting qua personeel en het personeel dat er loopt worden niet aangestuurd. De kamers zijn gedateerd en de badkamer is gewoon op en smerig. Het ontbijt wordt niet goed bijgehouden. Brood en beleg op en er wordt pas gehandeld na klagen. Toch vraagt men voor een overnachting en ontbijt de hoofdprijs. Voor ons nooit meer. Dan rij ik lidver door naar Bilderberg Kasteel Vaals

Prima centrale ligging. Personeel correct en vriendelijk.
Kamer klein en wel iets gehorig. Badkamer met half open en glazen wanden zijn een groot min punt. Even prive naar wc gaan is er niet bij. Bed was prima, maar als je met raam op kier (ivm frisse lucht) wilt zetten, wordt je beetje gek van de kerkklok dat naast hotel is.

In de badkamer blift de spoelbak van het toilet doorlopen en de afzuiging werkt niet, dus condens op alle spiegels in de kele kamer.
Die LED lampjes in de vloer bij het ontbijt vonden we hinderlijk.

Klant vriendelijkheid was prima echter was de prijs kwaliteit verhouding niet goed. Echt te duur wat je ervoor krijgt. Kamers hebben een opknap beurt nodig en sanitair niet meer van deze tijd en ziet er ook echt niet goed meer uit.

Goed hotel met bijzondere kenmerken.

Locatie in de stad kan niet beter. Kamer ruim voor een grote-stads-hotel en erg schoon. Geluidsisolatie aan voorgevel matig (benadrukt door bouwactiviteit even verderop), en dit geldt ook voor deur naar de gang. De ontbijtzaal rondom de romeinse opgravingsvondsten is werkelijk uniek en maakt een verblijf zeker iets bijzonders.

Wij verblijven altijd in het Derlon wanneer wij in Maastricht overnachten. We vragen ook altijd dezelfde kamer aan en voor on sis het een soort van thuiskomen. Het personeel is heel vriendelijk en servicegericht. Het ontbijt is goed verzorgd en veel keus en de locatie is top!

Er lagen nog oude sokken op de kamer van de vorige mensen. Geen werkende tv en internet deed het ook niet en dit allemaal in een suite. Hier een opmerking van gemaakt en het personeel zegt doodleuk dat ik naar een normale ‘goedkope’ kamer mag gaan om daar tv te kijken. Belachelijk! Ik betaal niet voor niets een suite prijs en doe dit niet om tv in een andere kamer te kijken. Kamer was ook heel slecht schoon gemaakt. Laatste keer Derlon voor mij....
