Staff answered all questions. One BIG problem… I booked it through Expedia in February…. It was on my Credit card statement which I paid. I was billed again at the hotel and now I have pending charges in my bill substantially greater than what I already paid following the booking.

The hotel was excellent. The room was comfortable for 3 adults. Only negative was in the hotel were 2 elevator but one was out of order and our room was on level 5!! It was quite busy and waiting was disappointing.

We loved the hotel, it had everything we needed, and the kids absolute loved the pool. We used the pool twice, once as we arrived and once in the morning before we left. The beds were comfy and we had a balcony. Loved it. Walking distance to the centre, but we drove as our kids were tired.

We have waited fir 1:15 minutes for our food. They didnt even ask us if we are okay we jyst waited and waited but they forgot our order.
Its not nice . But then it arrived after 1:15 minutes at least they can say to you a free drinks or something for a long wait.

Nice stay but service can be improved

The hotel was very comfortable and the rooms were large and were quite nice. Due to Covid, we needed to schedule use of the pool area. The pool and saunas were a plus to our stay. The gym however was not cleaned regularly so the machines looked dirty and the room was hot. If there was air conditioning it did not work.

Breakfast was excellent and overall the food was good. However, service was not very good and food service was not coordinated. For example, our children's food was served after ours, which is unusual and something we have not really experienced ever.... and that says something because we travel a lot and have lived on a couple of different continents.

Room service messed up our order (\"lost\" it) and of course those with children can imagine the types of fallout from late dinners due to mistakes in room service. Again, that made for an unpleasant experience.

However despite those gaffes, we would stay here again.

The design of the hotel is a bit kitsch but likeable. The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms are very nice with comfortable baths (in the deluxe room at least). The spa and pool are very nice with views outdoors from the sauna and pool.
On the downside the pillows on the beds are too high (for me). I found another pillow in the cupboard and it was also too high. There are numerous decorative cushions but no selection of sleeping pillows. I had to roll up a towel instead of the high pillow in order to get some comfort.

The property is right of the motorway, not really walkable to the city center because of the major roads. The hotel does offer a shuttle into the city, but it only runs during the day. The hotel is currently under renovation. Renovated rooms are nice and clean, but sections under construction are exposed. The hotel bills itself as a spa, but the spa services are very limited. Additionally, the spa area has glass walls that are not fully sealed, and it’s quite noisy. Spa staff was young and generally lacked experience. When large groups were load in the pool or spa areas, no staff addressed this, making my treatments less than relaxing. Additionally, rooms are not quiet. There was A LOT of noise in the hallway through the night. Again, no staff addressed this. One night people were running down one hall knocking on doors and yelling. Rooms over the hotel entrance are loud. I would not recommend this hotel for a peaceful weekend getaway.

Everyone from Reception through to Restaurant and Bar were really nice, Professional and helpful.
The only downside was that the builders were in reconstructing a number of rooms, but they were quite. This is absolutely necessary to keep the hotel in great shape.
Not all staff had English, but that’s my problem for not having Dutch, not theirs

Old style hotel with one single redeeming quality: it is in the middle of town. No AC, no parking, noisy, lousy/old bathroom with not enough towels. Street/tourist noise is horrendous and with the windows open (no ac remember) forget about catching some sleep.

I have stayed in this hotel multiple times for business, and I highly recommend it.

This hotel offers great features at a very good value, this hotel has it all, you cannot go wrong by staying at Van der Valk Hotel in Maastricht.

Free parking, free internet (fast), great indoor pool, good spa and gym, very good restaurant and bar.

This hotel offers a free shuttle service for the city center of Maastricht during the weekends only, this hotel is located about 10 minutes away by car from Maastricht’s downtown area.

There are restaurants and super markets in the vicinity of the hotel.

Overall, once again, a very good stay at this hotel.

A very good hotel in the Maastricht area

I used this hotel for business purposes, I needed two things out of this location (parking for a big vehicle and fast internet - both are free of charge) this hotel provided both and it didn’t disappoint, it made my job much easier. The hotel has two options for food (their restaurant and bar) the two places have good food, the breakfast is good, the hotel offers everything one could hope for and more, during the weekends they offer a free shuttle service to the city of Maastricht (13 minutes drive by car), this hotel is located 11 minutes away from Margraten cemetery, overall this hotel is very clean and safe, the area around the hotel is safe too, the location is excellent. Their indoor pool is very good, their sauna as well and their gym are good too, overall I am very satisfied with my stay at this hotel (several days due to my job assignment) I would recommend this hotel to friends and family without a doubt. If you are in Maastricht for business or trying to visit Margraten cemetery this is probably the best location based on distance to both places, I would recommend this hotel to do three things to improve, get rid of the doubles beds and add a king size bed instead like the Van der Valk Eindhoven, please include the tiramisu dessert from the Eindhoven or Schiphol locations and please bring ketchup with french fries! You have everything you need to be a great Hotel not a good one, use of what you have to become better.

Nice hotel near a highway in a residential area.

Nice hotel in a residential area, but also near a highway with some traffic noise. Window could therefore not be opened. Hotel is rather far from city center and one has to travel with bus or taxi to get there. Room is spacious, large bathroom with bath and shower facilities, but only one washbasin.
Hotel has also a swimming pool and a spa center.
Breakfast buffet was great and enough to choose from. Parking on the premises.

Everything you need for a visit to Maastricht is available. Good place to spent the night, spacy clean room and an
more than an excellent breakfast. (surcharge)
As the hotel is not really close to the city center you have to take care for your own transportation. There are some parking garage near and in the city center but the are not cheap.

The only good thing about this hotel is the friendly staff. This hotel is in the middle of nowhere. It is far from the train station and far from the city center. There is a shuttle to take you to the city center, but not back. And it does not run Sun morning before 11 am, and it does not run Sun evening at all. And the buses run once an hour! The mattress was terribly uncomfortable. The worst part: my room stank of cigarette smoke even though this is a non-smoking hotel. Housekeeping had opened the windows to get rid of the smell. When I checked in at 11 pm, the room was freezing cold (-1 C outside) and the room stank of cigarette smoke!

Hotel a little out the way but if you do your research the local bus stops outside. Sometimes hotel does courtesy bus and they sell taxi vouchers.
The staff are all very helpful.
I didn't try any food.
The pool area looked nice but I didn't have time to use it. One night in Maastricht isn't enough.

I went there for a business trip. I enjoyed my stay pretty much. Delicious food in the restaurant, great breakfast, clean room and hotel in general, helpful and polite personel. High tech gym, great spa center with wonderful indoor swimming pool. Nothing negative to mention except the quite noisy neighborhood because of the constructions taking place nearby.

Nice hotel w/ a snazzy indoor pool/sauna/fireplace

While the hotel was great and we´d go back there again, we think the Dutch need to re-evaluate some of their concepts and understand that kids are NOT pets. They charge €7 per day for the use of a crib. In our case, we booked a deluxe room as we wanted more space and comfort. When we arrived, there was a sofa bed already open and made up as a bed, which we thought was great, but when we checked-out, they charged us €15 extra per day for that sofa bed that was part of the room. So we complained and they removed the charges, but the “having to complain” part of it always leaves a bitter taste to the experience.
They also have an amazing spa area with a nice indoor pool, sauna, fire place. But no bath robes available (unless you want to pay €5). Let me make it clear that I do not mind paying for things, but I like it to be fair. The extra bed was not brought in to the room, it was part of the room and we already paid a lot more for that \"deluxe\" room, so we do not think we should have to pay €15 extra per day for a 2.5 yr old to use it. We stayed in a 4 star spa hotel in Portugal 1 month before this and the bath robes were available at no extra cost and the same with the crib. Why? Because they were smart enough to build-in those costs in the room price. Maybe the Dutch can learn something from this. Overall experience was very pleasant.

Just a short taxi ride to visit the Christmas market in maastricht.
Great hotel with very friendly and pleasant staff.

Very nice room spacious and well appointed.Good size beds and comfortable. Big bathroom with bath and shower. Had a drink and a bite to eat in the bar where the service was very good and the food was also good.Very good choice of breakfast with a choice of fruit, cereals, meats, cheese you could also ask the chef for omelette, fried eggs or poached along with bacon and sausage.It is about 10 minutes from the centre of Maastricht but the hotel did have a shuttle bus that took you there.All in all very happy with the hotel.

Fantastic hotel would certainly use again. Visited for the Andre Reiu concert - excellent shuttle and taxi service for the concert. Travelled with my sister and father ( aged 79) and we had a triple room. Large extremely comfortable room.

the room was not ready on time for our 2pm check in. And we had to wait an hour and ask twice to the reception for them to address the issue and sendtl the cleaners over. When they did come, they \"cleaned\" the room so fast that I cant call it ib all conscience \"cleaned\". They did not even hoover the room. In the evening, loud music could be heard from downstairs in the bathroom (gladly not from the room itself). and there was nowhere for towels to be hung to dry. Lots of misdesign if you ask me. The breakfast is also, to my opinion, much more expensive than its worth. The cook couldnt even bother to properly manage the cooking plate where he was dping the omelettes. So for a vegetarian like me I couldnt even ask.for one since it would have taste of meat anyway... poor experience in general though it was very convenient to get to TEFAF. Also, I was looking forward to a relaxing time in the welness center. but the jacuzzi is in the pool ans as such way too cold to actually enjoy it. And the saunas, especially the wet room,were not to the right temperature at all.

a little dissapointing stay!

We stayed before many times in this hotel and always enjoyed it but this time it was diferrent the rooms was not clean we found long black hears in the bathroom and also in the bed.
we had lunch in the brasserie but my husband get a completly burned omelet i dont know how a chef can serve something like this!!!

We chose this hotel for the free parking so were happy to stay out of the centre, however the hotel is next to the motorway so it isn't the easiest hotel to get to on foot. That said it is only a 30 minute walk so we still thought it was worth it. The hotel also provides a free shuttle into the centre which is really useful.

The room was a really good size with a lot of space. The beds were comfy and the room was quiet. We didn't try the restaurant or bar but they looked very busy.

We spent four nights at the Maastricht Van der Valk in one of their refurbished standard rooms, alongside the new Wellbeing Centre - which looked very nice but we had no time to enjoy. We had a concern about the bedroom door not shutting and locking properly on one occasion - found it left slightly open presumably by housekeeping, but once reported, the staff were on to it very fast.

Ẁe picked the hotel for the free parking and this was excellent. It was a little isolated and quite a hike into town, but the number 4 bus stop was only 200 yards away with a half-hourly service taking you to the main points in town - station, Markt and Vrijhof for 2.50 Euro. The website mentions a free shuttle service, but this only runs at weekends and has to be pre-booked. Parking in town is Euro1.60 -2.60 PER HOUR! Taxis are expensive.

The room was very warm and it wasn't until I learned to press the door pass card very firmly into the socket next to the air conditioning control unit that it worked properly. Apparently this shouldn't have been necessary, as there should have been a separate card in place fitted by room service.

The Hotel is very modern, recently refurbished and very smart. The roadworks outside our window where they are completing a new underpass were unsightly, but didn't really trouble us.

We wanted a snack at 10pm at night and Fish & Chips and Chef kept Kitchen open to make us this meal. The bar was relaxed and comfortable. The choice of beers were very wide. The Reception staff were comfortably multilingual. In the morning, treated ourselves to Breakfast in our room. It was a real treat for our Wedding Anniversary. The table on wheels bought into our room gave us a sumptuous choice for our Breakfast.

Nice hotel

Very nice hotel, but was charged a room premium for the Andre Rieu concert. As well, it's not close to the city center, so you have to take a bus to get there.

Great hotel for anyone

Staff were very polite and helpful would highly recommend. Only negative was a little out of the way from town but there is a bus that takes you to the train station/Maastricht. Would stay there again if we went back to Netherlands. They even put a mini bus for the Andre Rieu concert to take us there and back for 4 euros each Bargain.

Very satisfying!

Off from downtown so you may find trouble finding restaurants around though there is a restaurant inside the hotel. It's not too far from downtown. Waling distance (15mins) to the conference center along residential area. Grocery store is available 10 min walk. Very nice and clean. Kind staff. We really enjoyed the stay!

Free parking but dated rooms and poor reception.

I stayed at this hotel because I had previously stayed at the sister hotel near Dusseldorf airport, which I found very comfortable indeed, and because it provided free parking for my rental car and was within walking distance of both the town centre and the MECC. However, this hotel was more dated in its facilities, the rooms were smaller than in Dusseldorf and the worst part was that reception was understaffed so that even when I had only a brief enquiry to make, such as how to get into town on foot, I had to wait 5 minutes for any assistance.

Great Hotel, Spacious Comfortable Rooms

We stayed here in May for 1 night before travelling on to Germany for a trip with friends. The hotel was of an extremely high standard and the room & bathroom (we had a standard room) exceptionally spacious and comfortable. We booked on a room only basis so paid extra for breakfast, I think EUR14.50 per person. There was plenty of choice including a hot food selection as well. The night we stayed our plans had been to go in to Maastricht but the weather was awful so decided to eat at the hotel and chose The Brasserie rather than the formal restaurant. There was ample choice of \"bar\" food which suited us and the portions and quality of food were very good. Overall very happy with our stay and if we were travelling to that area again would definitely stay at the Van der Valk again.

Perfect for Diamond District and Jewish quarter

We stayed in the Business Class room of the hotel. Good size and a fantastic view over the Antwerp train station. Location was great and breakfasts top of the line. They ordered kosher food for Shabbat for us and it was superb.
Only criticism I can think of was that the steps up to the hotel were steep and many. As a result they were hard to handle with heavy luggage. And there is no one looking out for the less than young and fit trying to register.

Not happy

Heating on in August

Nicely decorated, spacious room. Tea and coffee facilities repleniched some days, chambermaid service could be better. Airconditioning very poor and all though the windows did open the noise from the staff after hours was awfull making it impossible to sleep. Parking was a nightmare. We were asked if we required disabled parking but anyone could park in the 4 disabled spaces and the staff refused to do anything about it and the car park was always full.
