Accommodation was basic but clean. Older build than some others in the area. Thought the layout of the apartment was a fire hazard due to only exit from bedrooms and bathroom is via an outside courtyard - 2 external doors to be unlocked to exit the courtyard into the living room/kichen area - each with seperate keys not clearly marked Courtyard had 8ft high wall and no door/gate. Also the bathroom needs to be updated.

Disappointing. Didn't get the room we paid for.

We paid extra for a 'plus' room which we were told by phone would put us in the block nearest the seafront. However, on check in we were placed in an entirely different and disconnected block several streets away which was as far back as their much cheaper Morromar sister hotel.

The air conditioning, which was the main reason we paid extra, kept turning itself off. In the middle of a heatwave this made sleeping very uncomfortable. The hard beds only added to that.

We were there for work so WiFi was important. It fluctuated a lot, from 8Mbps right down to 0.5Mbps. There is no excuse in 2023 for poor hotel WiFi.

The chap who guided us to the room late at night didn't offer to help us with our bags. I believe he was part if the maintenance team. The same team that were in a little office/storeroom from which came the very pungent smell of something more than tobacco.

Plus points; the cleaners do a good job, even around the lazy maintenance. And it takes around 5 minutes to walk to the promenade and 15 to get to Playa Pocillo where there are many restaurants and bars. 45 minutes walk will get you to PDC.

The area itsef is good but we wouldn't stay at this property again

We stayed in Gaviotas VIII for one week. The properly was basic, but clean. We were given fresh towels every other day and the bedding was changed. The location was great and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend this property.

Been here many times before it’s a cosy friendly place quite but close to bars and restaurants the bathrooms are looking a bit dated and as the waters heated by a small external boiler you need to be quick redline a shower but over all very present stay

The apartment plus property was really-well assembled. It wasn't clear from the Expedia description that Las Gaviotas has three clusters. Also, only seven apartments face the sea/beach, the images on Expedia are deceiving. Overall, I would give it 4 out of 5 because it was hard to get good amount of natural light from terrace glazing and ventilation from toilet opening. However, the apartment property had enough privacy which was a bonus.

the only problem is we had a late flight home and we wanted the apartment up until 4pm and they wanted to charge us for an extra night the full asking price ithink if you have a late flight home you should be able to have the room until at least 4pm.

The first room was a so called superior one but it had single glazing and was right under the flight path and also a bit grubby so they moved me to block 8 and the room had an infestation of cockroaches it was really awful!! They were jumping on me!!!! The maintenance guy who en brutally came was shocked ! so I had to move again! It was exhausting the next room had a broken phone so I couldn’t get hold of reception and no hairdryer but was much nicer ! Block 8 is a long way from reception and restaurant . I still have nightmares about all those cockroaches and the hotel never even apologised or gave me anything in way of a sorry they weren’t bothered!!

Disappointed in efficiency/courtesy of receptionist during our stay. No running water during nights/early morning. No working landline phone in bungalow which was reported but undealt with. Cleaner was very helpful and efficient. Very clean bungalow. Internet charge excessive. Safe charge excessive.

Long weekend stay

We had a lovely stay here. It's a quick journey from the Airport, 5-10 minutes by taxi or bus. The apartments are lovely and clean, a nice clean pool, a very quiet area. The breakfast buffet is of a good quality. There is the noise of the planes as the airport is close, but that's a blessing and a curse if you're after a short stay, being close to the airport reduces those travel times considerably. The windows and doors on the apartment are of a good quality so you won't hear the planes on the inside of the apartment, in fact we slept incredibly well. On the outside, you get used to the planes and it becomes a background noise you get used to, it was at no point offensive .. and I am someone prone to noise irritation. On the downside, the local area is very .. British. Lots of restaurants aimed at tourists, lots and lots of British everything .. which perhaps isn't the worst thing in the world when I'm British myself, but if you're looking for more of a Spanish experience, to indulge in Spanish culture and cuisine, then this perhaps is not the best place for you, and be prepared for smoking, smoking and more smoking. But the bus stop is nearby, and if you're brave enough to hop on and travel to pastures further afield, this really would be a great base for you. Public transport and taxis are cheap. If you're happy to stay by the pool, or on the patio of your apartment, and enjoy the sun, then I'd recommend highly.

The property is bright and clean if a little dated.Very private quiet complex,next to the promenade and shopping centre. You have to realise that the hot water supply is limited leave 20 minutes between showers! The breakfast was the only meal we took on the complex and choices of fruit,breads and pastries was very good

, also freshly cooked omelettes were excellent.The bacon was streaky so needs cooking till crisp not swimming in fat , and only German sausage available. However overall we would return to this complex without hesitation.

Suited our needs for the one nights stay, but the apartment was VERY hot. With two small children, one night was enough - they didnt sleep and noise travelled. Pool and outside were very clean, inside was clean enough. Pool was deep and not really suited to small children, so beware - it was however completely fenced so safe.

Pleasant bungalow,small pool shared by five other properties, quiet and not overlooked. Courteous and efficient cleaning staff. We were in block 6 which was some distance from the beach, restaurant and reception but as we were self catering and mobile it was fine for us.

The bungalow that we were allocated on arrival was situated close to the road and next to the commercial centre and had virtually no outdoor space. We asked to change and the reception staff were more than helpful and put us in a bungalow that was more suitable. The complex is kept neat and tidy and they provide an excellent buffet breakfast. Well situated close to the beach, bars, restaurants and supermarket. Only negative was that the \"heated\" swimming pool was too cold.

Away from the restaurant ups small hill but our apt was lovely and private. Rooms cleaned lovely beds changed once during the week and towels 3 times . English Tv free just 10€ deposit refunded when u left. Comfortable beds and safe deposit box . No air con but 3 leg fans in the room to use if wanted. Fridge with small freezer box 2 rings no oven to cook if needed. All in all a lovely apt with very friendly people. Pool was clean and has safety glass all round
We went half board breakfast was amazing g but Evening meal not so good not much choice and quite boring really.

Great family Holiday

Highly recommend Las Graciosa for a family holiday. We stayed on a half board basis and the food and service were both excellent. All Staff were friendly and professional and worthy of praise. Location very good and it was never a problem getting to and from dining area. One tiny criticism is that toiletries were advertised as being provided and indeed they were but only enough for 2 days use and were not replaced when empty. All in all very satisfied and will be returning soon.

Stayed here for five days for a wedding anniversary break it was peaceful quiet ( we were in block 7) the hotel we found was an amazing place , comfy beds , the area was clean and peaceful all the staff were really friendly and polite The Restaurant for breakfast and evening meal-had a great Assortment of foods, The area felt safe with amazing walks along the prom with a big variety of restaurants and shopping, this we found to be a little Gem And we will be going back and recommend it to a family and friends.

Not impressed at all with airport transfer, had to pay for taxis when we had already paid for transfers.
However, once we arrived at Las Gaviotas the reception staff were lovely, Driver taking us to apartment was very welcoming. Apartment was just what we needed, clean, bright with all appliances etc perfect. Maid was also friendly. Returning in November!

On arrival allocated a room in block 4, neither near the beach or the pool so we asked if there was anything else available. We were told we could have a sea view room but it would be an additional amount per day. We accepted. Got to the new room and it was just as basic as the other one, it did have a sea view though. The next morning and thereafter we woke to drilling and banging which I realise may not be the case for everyone as only one bungalow next to ours being renovated. Wish I hadn't paid the extra. I left some sealed croissants out on the kitchen side and on our arrival back at the apartment the place had ants running everywhere. Not ideal if we were planning on self catering. A few had strayed in to living area and a couple were even in our bedroom! Air conditioning only works for two hours then cuts off so if you want to stay cool in the night you have to wake up every two hours to switch it back on. The apartments are close to a beach which is rocky and no loungers, if you want a nice beach with loungers its about a 10 minute walk. Water does not stay hot for two showers, so get in there first! The pool area was ok, not all pools are heated though so search for the ones that are as it makes a big difference. All in all, this holiday venue was dissapointing. The staff were helpful but seemed surprised as to why we were asking for a room change. We were only here for a short few days which was a good thing.

Beach front hotel, ideal for a relaxing break.

We stayed at Las Gaviotas for 9 nights in July 2016, we had two apartments located in Block 2 (11,12), these rooms are classified as Superior by the hotel and benefit from Free Wifi and a prime location around the pool. Both our plots were renovated recently and were in a good state of repair.

The apartments are spacious and well equipped, with bedding changed twice per week and towels changes 4/5 times during our stay. The maid cleans the room five times per week. We opted for half board, as opposed to self catering, this gives you Breakfast and Dinner, however you can switch from Dinner to Lunch should you desire.

The breakfast selection is good, with both hot and continental options available, the lunch/dinner menu changes each day, the selection is limited but we managed to find something most days. The restaurant manager (Ismael) is very helpful and accommodating, they prepared a special meal for my dad each day due to specific dietary requirements, big thanks!

The Hotel is located close to the beach and the shopping center within Matagorda, there are a number of local bars and restaurants in the area, we'd recommend the Sportsman if you're looking a busy bar with a good atmosphere.

Minor niggles, the pool bar in the complex wasn't open during our stay and the pool could do with a bit of TLC, just a note on the pool, the sign says it's \"heated\" however I can assure you it isn't.

Overall, very happy with the hotel, will definitely be returning soon.

the standard rooms that determine a hotel rating are far below what was shown on the pictures that made us book the apartment .... the accomodation was being double booked for over two weeks and still let new guests arrive without option to change or rebook .... not secure doors , damp accomodation terrible beds, dirty pool surrounded by barriers , reception staff arguing ...guests an added extra it felt like.

Good points: Its a perfect location and beach, shops & bars are just round the corner. Staff is very friendly.

Minus points: Being three star, they didn't provide wine glasses in a self catering apartment which was disappointing.

Overall: Good place to stay and a very good price.

Lovely quiet break

We had a great stay in Las Gaviotas. It's our second year there and we were put in the apartment next to where we were last year :) It's clean, the kitchen is there, has all the essentials and it's right next to the shopping centre and the beach. I like Matagorda anyway since it's quiet and there really aren't many people about in December compared to say the main Puerto del Carmen centre. Thoroughly enjoyable and I'd highly recommend the place.

Only a couple of issues. The shower was very weak, the water was barely more than a dribble. Also if you like to watch tv you'd better understand Spanish as there are only a couple of English channels available and their content was very poor, mostly stuff like American Pickers and reality restoration shows. Having said that i would be happy to stay there again

Had a lovely holiday in the Las Gaviotas,the staff were very pleasant and helpful especially the girl in reception ***** restaurant had a very nice selection at a reasonable price,sun loungers have padded mats on them for extra comfort (Brilliant),no noise at night and generally quiet during the day,central location for nice walks cycles etc,Holiday was the first week of october 2015.

Everything about the hotel was lovely. The only comments I have is that the food in the hotel restaurant was not hot enough. The last four days of our stay we did not have English channels except news. The staff were not able the tell us why? On the date of our check out we wanted to do a late checkout and were told they would let us know and they did not.
