The hotel seems dark and dingy but is clean and the rooms are serviced daily. The front desk staff is friendly and excellent and was able to readily answer all of our questions. The breakfast provided at the hotel is excellent and filling - better than most I have had in Italy. The location is very convenient to public transportation around Florence as well as to and from the airport and central train station (the tram is one block away). There is a convenient supermarket and pharmacy at the corner with an extremely helpful, English speaking staff. (They immediately spoke to me in English when I attempted to converse in Italian.) There is a restaurant next door run by a guy from Naples that was top notch - good food and service.

Nice hotel further from the centre than we expected. Used taxis as it was too far for my disabled husband to walk. Made it really expensive. Tried their bus direction which were poor and confusing.Room was okay but very cold. Couldn’t sleep because there was only a sheet and one blanket on the bed. Receptionist came to look at hearing but didn’t do anything. Advertised as having a restaurant but they don’t.

Is a really good spot , near to the center, and buses stop. There´s not a lot of options of food near, so, i recomend to eat something before to arrive in night.

We lucked out and found free parking in front of the building on the street for the car, but they do have a private gated lot behind the building if needed which can be accessed easily. Outside the ztl and easy to find. Good walking distance to the centre of the city. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby.

The Hotel Meridiana is clean and has comfortable beds. The staff were friendly and helpful, particularly at breakfast. The furnishings and bathroom were a little tired, but clean. And the Hotel is in a pleasant part of Florence about 25 mins walk from the centre or a 5 mins bus ride.
All in all a great little place for those on a budget.

The hotel was small but centrally situated. There was a bus stop within walking distance and you can purchase bus tickets in the hotel. The staff were very courteous and very friendly.

Our room included buffet breakfast. The various items were delicious.

I would recommend this hotel and I would definitely stay there again.

the location of this property is excellent, there is a bus stop less than two minutes away and it takes around 15 minutes of walking to the city center. The room is a little outdated but it is very clean, the staff are super friendly and each room is provided with a map that includes Florence’s best attractions and where you can book them. Only downside was that the walls are too thin and we had extremely noisy people in the room next door. Oh and the breakfast buffet was not good, limited.

Our stay at Hotel Meridiana was very quaint and made our stay in Florence quite enjoyable. The rooms are simple, but clean. Bus stops are close by, and near a few restaurants. Perseus is a restaurant within walking distance that we definitely recommend! Get steak.
The reception at the hotel is incredible. They greeted us every time we left and returned. They also answered any questions we had about directions and we were able to purchase bus tickets from them instead of having to go to a tobacco store! Overall a simple hotel, but the customer service makes it worth it.

Like your typical 3 star hotel, adequate to just spend the night really, maybe the room i got was not as great but the sink had cracks (broken) the room had a distinctive smell like old but the room was clean though. The bed was a double twin and one side was firm the other one was too over used you would sink down on the bed. Also, as i was in the room twice the cleaning ladies walked in the room, they knocked, i responded and they still went in while i was in the room, i think the hotel should have signs of do not disturb or do not clean yet because as far as i know i could had been naked and they would had walked in on me....i did like their continental breakfast and little outside entrance.

Great clean room. Good vibe. Friendly staff. Location is perfect, 15min walk from the train station and 10min walk to where all the restaurants are. Only problem was fridge and tv weren't working. We asked for staff to sort it out but nothing happened, however this wasn't a big issue to us.
Overall we had a great experience!

The hotel is situated at a walking distance to the historical centre. The price was not bad. The staff was firendly. The room was not bad either, although it lacked some essential facilities (e.g. safe). Its main problem was the complete lack of sound isolation between the rooms. When our neighbours were talking in their rooms, we could hear them. Doors were slamming until early in the morning. Breakfast was poor.

Basic & Convenient!!

A very simple basic hotel which is about 20mins walk into the city centre. Taxi fare from Pretola Airport is approx 30 Euros. Breakfast is provided but it's nothing exciting. Shop bought pastries and one type of cereal, toast, coffee and juice. Rooms are quite small - we had a double room but was a very tight squeeze. TV channels all in Italian. WIFI worked ok. Shower very slow. However, if you need somewhere basic, cheap, clean & close to the city centre - this hotel will suit you. We spent our days out exploring and back late at night - so it suited us very well. Hotel staff are very friendly and they helped us sort out our sightseeing experiences.

The Meridiana hotel was a wonderful hotel for my wife and me. Our small room was in the back of the hotel and away from the street so it was very quiet. It looked over a picturesque view of charming older buildings with the Forence hills in the background.
The free breakfast was beautifully served in a large, cheerful, bright room. I looked forward to it each day. It consisted of hot drinks, juice, assorted breads, eggs, a variety of meats, cereals, croissants, fruit, and milk.
The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and very welcoming. All the ones we met spoke excellent English.
The lobby was comfortable, with ample seating and a tv. It had a computer in a small adjoining room. Documents that needed to be printed could easily be arranged on the hotel reception's printer.
The hotel was a ftfteen to twenty minute walk to the edge of most of the historic sights. it would have been nice if it were a little closer for us. Howerver, there is a city bus we used less than five minutes from the hotel that goes to most of the tourist sights and comes every twenty minutes. The cost was only 1.20 Euros. Within 20 minutes it will pass close to the vast majority of tourist places of interests. It also has a stop across from the Santa Maria Novella train station.

The hotel offered free wifi. It worked only some of the time from my room on the fourth floor. However, it worked perfectly in the Lobby.

Had a great visit staying here!

Wonderful staff at the front desk who were very accommodating and helpful. The room was small but very clean and comfortable. There was a balcony with a beautiful view overlooking the city. There is a great place to eat right down the street from the hotel (Alfredo). The food was better here than what I found in the more touristy sections of the city. It is a comfortable 10 minute walk or so to the city center. I really enjoyed being away from the crowds and in a more residential area of the city.

clean enough...unfortunately we had a problem with the shower drain leaking and flooding the floor- but reception were quick to get it rectified and left us a complimentary bottle of wine to apologise.
However if you asked a particular receptionist anything he was most unhelpful. When asked where to eat, he advised one of the most expensive places to eat....when asked about the bus to the airport he said it was not possible only taxi- when we pointed out we knew there was a bus he said it didn't run daily so would be no good! It does in fact run daily every 30 minutes at a fraction of the cost of a taxi, but we had to walk to the tourist information office for details!

Great value and friendly staff

This was our first time to mainland Europe and really had no idea what to expect but this hotel was a nice, cozy experience that made our time in Florence so enjoyable. First off, the staff here was fabulous! We got to the hotel before noon and our room was already ready which was nice to drop our bags off and get cleaned up after traveling 5,000 miles with no sleep. The lady at the front desk gave us a map and clearly marked where the important bus stations and routes were and how to walk to the main historical part of Florence (about 15 minute walk south). The room was a good size for Europe and pricewise was reasonable. The bathroom was a bit small (though larger than ones I've been to in the UK) but clean. TV with local stations in Italian and maybe two in English were included and the tall windows opened to give a nice view of the busy street below (also very sound proof, could barely hear city noise outside with them shut). Breakfast was included and is located on the bottom floor with a nice selection of pastries, fruit, juices, and very friendly staff to make you a coffee. There are a couple restaurants about 5 minutes away and then increasing in frequency as you continue south down Via Cavour towards the Duomo. I felt very safe here and would absolutely come here again whenever I can get back to such an amazing city!

On the whole our stay had been good, but it would be better if the air condition is more efficient & has a kettle facility. The location can be considered good as we were able to walk into Florence city centre, about 20 mins. There is a bus stop near by where you can catch the bus to the railway station. It is a short ride .

Nice place for the four of us to stay.

Room worked perfectly for my wive and I and our two almost-adult children. Nice area of Florence just a bit out of center but walkable everywhere. Breakfast was good, ac worked perfectly and there is a great pastry store just down the street. Only rubbing point with my kids was the fact that they were charging a bit heavily for the wi-fi. Highly recommended for its purpose.

Overall, I my 20 year old daughter and I had a good experience at the hotel. I booked the room the morning we arrived - it was the cheapest available online in all of Zurich. The highlight was the morning staff! We arrived at 1000 and our room was not ready yet (their check in policy is I think 14 or 1500). The young lady who spoke perfect English took time to give us detailed recommendations and instructions on places to visit, and stored our bags in the front office while we toured old-town Zurich. I am an airline pilot and I stay in hotels hundreds of times a year. I pay close attention to details. Our room was on the second floor. There is a SMALL elevator, but it delivers you to the base of the six steps up to the room (you must carry your bags up steps, regardless of the elevator). The room itself was small (about 4mx4m). There are no chairs in the room, but instead two stools. There is no closet, but instead large hanging rods with hangars available. The view from the window is of a neighborhood and parking lot. The walls are painted white, but one was a vivid purple. There are overhead lights (not common in American hotels) and wall lamps. There was a large mirror situated next to a small flat screen TV on the wall (the remote did not work (we operated it manually). The twin sized beds utilize a memory foam mattress which both my daughter and I found comfortable. They have a computer in the lobby for internet and free wifi available. There is no air conditioning, but we did not need it in mid-September. The hotel is located in somewhat of a sketchy part of town, but that also lent to lower costs for food. There is a bar around the corner next to the bus stop, and a \"take-away\" fast food place across the street. I expected to find homeless people or grifters in the neighborhood, but there were none. The hotel is located four stops from the main rail station; it's a walk-able distance, but not with baggage. Public transportation in Zurich is amazing, and the hotel is well situated to take advantage of it.

Overall, I would not hesitate to stay there again, but don't expect American resort amenities.

The double room was small, with a tiny shower stall (typical in Italy).

The hotel is not within easy walking distance of the historic center, although it is a short taxi ride from the train station.

It's close to a good supermarket with a large selection of wines and an interesting delicatessen section for takeout.

Worst Hotel I have ever stayed at on four continents

I have traveled four continents and stayed in a large array of hotels varying from 3 to 5 star hotels. This is the absolute worst experience I have ever had. The ad said free internet, when we got here they insisted we had to pay illogical amounts for a simple amenity such as access to Wi-Fi. The room and beds were a lot smaller than most, the breakfast was decent but they have something strange going on with the restaurant. I asked in three language about the possibility of dinner in the hotel restaurant and got a very confusing reply about only groups. I also found this location very far from major attractions and usually required a bus. The rooms are extremely noisy and you can hear neighbors, traffic and TVs quite easily. There are no restaurants in the immediate vicinity. I was extremely disappointing with this hotel and I will never stay here again and I highly recommend one fellow traveler to another that you do not either.

Wonderful staff, good breakfast, clean bright room. Noisy traffic but great location, right on a bus route and close to train station and historic district. Would definitely choose this hotel again. Great experience, wonderful value. Short taxi ride to airport (only about twenty minutes). Close to great restaurants in a nice neighborhood.

A little less than expected

First, I must say the hotel was very clean & the staff was very nice & accommodating. Also, the bathroom was very large by European hotel standards (even a ledge to put toiletries!).

However, I've stayed in hotels in Florence almost a dozen times, & this definitely had less amenities than others--such as a mini fridge & lock box. The fridge is a must for convenient refreshments after a long day touring, & a lock box is a nice, secure place to leave passports & jewelry.

This hotel is also quite a jaunt from both the train station (SMN) & historic center across some very busy streets--even though it's supposedly in the historic center. I would recommend paying a little more to stay a little closer. Just keep in mind that Florence hotel prices will be high regardless.

Very pleasant hotel with helpful multilingual staff. Breakfast disaster on first day due to mass group departure but thereafter good. Nice clean rooms. Walkable into Florence for the sights.

Nice, a little far from center of town

This hotel was comfortable, affordable and friendly. The breakfast which came with the room was pleasant. The elevator was a big point as most of our hotel stays in Europe did not have that.

Meridiana--affordable, suitable for all

The Meridiana was easy to find, easy to walk to and from for all major tourist sights in Florence (you must be a good and cheerful walker, however--it takes about 20 minutes to the city centre through safe streets), clean, and managed by friendly and helpful staff. Since it is just outside the really busy central section of the city it was also quiet. I would recommend this hotel for travellers of all ages and interests.

The hotel was within walking distance of the city centre and attractions. The staff were excellent and extremely helpful. The hotel restaurant was a hidden treasure with well presented and very tasty meals.

Good Location, but Kind of Loud

I thought the hotel was good and the staff was really great, however it was a bit noisy. We were toward the back and there must have been a patio or something under our window because it was quite loud. Also, the Internet was SUPER slow. However, I mentioned it and hopefully they will try to fix it moving forward. All in all, a good hotel for the money. Very clean, free breakfast. Stay here if you don't mind a 15 min walk into town and try to get a front room!

good value for money

Overall, the Meridiana was a good hotel. It was clean and the location was very good (close to several bus routes, quiet area, a great restaurant just opposite). However, I would not necessarily recommend the hotel because of the following reasons: It was very badly isolated. So we woke up every morning around 7 when the first people went for breakfast. The breakfest itself was not that great. I all looked/tasted quite cheap. Our bathroom was a bathroom for disabled people which was quite akward (very high toilet, shower on the same level as the floor). However, if you want to stay in a clean hotel, close to the center, in a quiet area AND not pay a fortune, this hotel is the correct one.

Meridiana good choice for budget-conscience people

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast nothing too exciting. Hotel room was clean and served it's purpose (we only were there to sleep). Location a bit far away from \"centre\", but for walkers it's no problem. Took us about 15-20 minutes on foot and you could see a few cool buildings on the way. But I think there is also a bus you can take. Would absolutely recommend the hotel for those who don't want to spend alot of money.
