Very nice hotel. Personally, I thought it looked a lot cuter and more updated in person than the pictures represented. Friendly staff. Room was comfortable and cozy with a balcony overlooking the views. Only issue was it was difficult to find upon first arrival, so more instruction on where to go would have made it easier. I would definitely stay again and recommend to friends!

The location is great, center to a lot of places and to metro stations. The room was clean and comfortable. The employees always at service and happy to serve. The only thing to improve is the bathroom. It is very small on the toilet space, a large person would not be able to seat. Also, it needs a place inside the shower to put the soap and shampoo.

This property is located right next to the opera metro station. It has a various options for shopping and dining well into den tonight. The hostel is located on the fifth floor with the elevator. It might be a bit difficult to find but they have a sign a little higher than the sidewalk so you should not have any problems. The room is just enough for one person with a clean bathroom, comfortable bed and clean towels. it is very quiet during the day and at night. They do not have a secure locker for your luggage, but you can leave it. Leave it in the common area. The staff doesn’t speak perfect English, but enough for you to communicate easily. Overall, I highly recommend this place to stay and I would most definitely would like to visit it again.

It was a great stay! Location was wonderful, a few minutes to the Plaza Mayor and Palacio Real. Lots of food places too. Staff was amazing. They even schedule at taxi for me with pick up at 5 am!! Very kind and helpful staff. Loved it! Fully recommended!

The hostal itself was good. However, there was construction that began at approximately 9 a.m. each morning during our two night stay, which made it impossible to sleep late.

No hay lobby en la entrada. El hostal esta en el 4to piso. Llegue 11pm y no sabia que hacer y no me explicaronantes, en el lugar hay muchos locales juntos. El aire condicionado no funcionaba y se demoraron en arreglarlo. Es muy simple y sencillo el lugar. Pagar 150 euros por una noche no lo merecen.

It may not be the most opulent of places but the Rober is clean, with all necessary facilities and housed in a magnificent old building, with huge doors, a marble entrance and dark wood. The rooms are basic but with full facilities and if you're lucky to get one facing the Calle de Arenal a balcony with nice views for people watching. It's very accessible from the airport to the Opera metro station and then a literal 1-2 minute walk. However it's all about the location and here's where the Rober stands out, 5 minute walks to the Royal Palace, Sol, Gran Via, Plaza Mayor, Mercardo De San Miguel and a host of other little alleys, plazas, with a multitude of cafes, bars, tapas, restaurants, fast food joints at every turn, with the Prado, Botanical Gardens, Retiro Park and other major attractions all within 10 minutes walk. As mentioned it's not the most opulent place but don't be put off by that, it's functional, friendly, and the location is second to none, allowing plenty of time to explore and work off those churros. Enjoy.

Little hard to find as Hostal is on fifth floor and typical European no signs at ground level. Arenal sreet is (2 km) pedestrian street between Plaza del Sol and the Opera. It is alive with people 24/7 except while raining. Open balcony door and one is in the middle (well 5 stories Up) of the action. Singing, laughter, even tap dancing, etc. goes on all the time. Doors do a great job of isolating noise and it was not a problem.

we ended up not buying a metro ticket as we walked all over downtown Madrid from Hostal about 4 to 8 Km every day making loops to sight see amin areas of Madrid including El Rastro (Sunday only about 6 km of street sales), Royal Palace, La Gran Via, Parks, Government buildings, etc. Best way to get to know a city.

we ended up not buying a metro ticket as we walked all over downtown Madrid from Hostal about 4 to 8 Km every day making loops to sight see amin areas of Madrid including El Rastro (Sunday only about 6 km of street sales), Royal Palace, La Gran Via, Parks, Government buildings, etc. Best way to get to know a city.

Very clean, basic accommodation. In perfect location very comes to Royal Palace and Opera metro station. Staff were polite and accommodation felt safe as entry only after ringing the bell, this was important to me as a solo female traveller. The rooms were cleaned daily and the bathroom although tiny was bright and spotless. The free wifi worked brilliantly. It was noisy on the Friday night, but that was to be expected given the location. If you want somewhere clean, comfortable and very reasonably priced close to lots of main attractions then this is the place

On arrival at hostal we were told our room was unavailable. No reason given. We were told to go to another hostal they work with which was satisfactory, but we were not offered transportation and it was very hot walk and took us 30 minutes to finally find it.

this was a 3 day break at the beginning of a 1 week holiday at our own apartment on the Costa Blanca. The location was perfect right between Opera and Puerta del Sol. Hotel was pleasant enough with all you would expect from a Hostel. 24 hour reception. safe in the room. clean and comfy bed. enough room for the accommodation provided. bathroom was very small (but I do expect that from a hostel). they advertise that soap and shampoo is provided but this is really sparse so would take my own stuff or buy some from the supermarket. also no facilities to have a coffee/tea on site - so your first drink of the day is when you go out for breakfast. good little cafe right next door (it looks like deli from the front but does have a little salon at the back). hostel staff were very pleasant and helpful. did originally book the transfer from the airport until I realised this is a round-trip bus for which you could be waiting up to an hour if you have just missed it. also cost was to be e23 for 2 people as opposed to e30 in a taxi so we went for the latter - a lot quicker and more convenient.

Had a lovely time in Hostel Rober. our beddings and towels are being changed daily which is very good, room smell fresh everytime we comeback after our tour in the city. Has wifi in the room but there are times that it was slow. Staff are very helpful and friendly. There is a free coffee and tea in the reception and you can just make one anytime you want. We had a late check-out in the hotel as our flight back to Uk was in the evening and they didnt charged us for it. We recommend this hotel, near to most of the attractions in barcelona.

Quaint hotel on fifth floor of a wonderful building(there is a lift!).Worth trying to ask for room at front with balcony for excellent views up and down the street but be warned can be noisy on a night time though I chose to consider it atmospheric!! So handy for everything not least the metro with Opera &Puerta Del Sol within easy reach. There is also an excellent Thai restaurant just opposite should you tire of paella &tapas.Don't miss the roof top bar in the Beaux Artes building especially for late night views of Madrid.Very good value hotel.
