Cause for concern. Definitely overrated. The staff are a hit an miss . Lack passion and Customer Services. The location was good. Breakfast not that good restaurant takes ages and food taste not upto scratch . There was plenty of unfinished meals overall Definitely a 3 Star . My room had cracked tile in the bathroom ( Dangerous ) no warnings at no stage . Big damage on the floor ( Dangerous ) and the jacuzzi was a no no condensation on windows not nice wouldn't use waste of money . . These things should be labelled or notified once assigned the room .Will i go back 50/50 it needs better organisation . No point Offering Services that you have to keep going down to reception not practical . A manager needs to be onsite to provide paying customer a service ! Improvement required . Manger must be email so don't expect nothing to be done in a reasonable amount of time .

If you are visiting Madrid for the first time (as we were) you will not want to stay anywhere else! In fact, if you are visiting for the 1000th time, you will probably not want to stay anywhere else :) Hotel Opera is aptly named as its across the street from THE Madrid Opera, and adjacent to the Royal Palace. As such, you will be hard pressed to find a location more suitable for walking to some of the most impressive shopping, tourism, dining, and sight seeing the city has to offer! My mom and I ate at THE Mercado 4 times in our four day stay. The hotel itself is very modern and the staff is always available and always professional, welcoming, and kind. The room itself was (for me) very high-tech, and even had motorized shades that you could lower to darken the room further. We ventured out to Toledo one day, and the hotel is helpful there as well in that it's very accessible for taxi and uber, but is near car rental (sixt) too! If you want to shop, eat, sight see, or just sleep/rest (and not kill your budget), rest assured that Hotel Opera covers it all!

I booked this hotel based on their advertised pictures and overall rating on hotels.com !
It was such a surprise to my whole family when i walked in to a motel like environment , outdated hallways that resembles scary movies and mold in their bathroom and showers !
Staff was friendly and i dont have anything bad to say about them !

We picked this property due to its location close to the Palace. Not sure why it has 4 stars. Our door had tape inside the lock and could not lock until I took it out. Staff wasn’t friendly when I address the issue. The bath tube jacuzzi had broken pieces. Front reception not as friendly or helpful as other stays we stayed while in Spain. Hotel is old and it renovated. Breakfast food was ok and not great.

the hotel location was excellent but i will warn anyone booking avoid rm 901! right next door to both the elevator shaft and the gym... which is unlocked even though they say access is after 10am... one of the roughest nights ive had travelling in years...

Especially victor who works in the Ópera cafe who looked after me & my friend on our stay.
Good choice of food in the breakfast lounge.

One of the people working at the front desk was not very friendly. Arriving at the hotel there were 5 of us, one more child who initially would not participate in the trip. That was the reason why the man made it a problem for us to check in, even though it was not a problem he kept telling us that he was doing us a favor to accept one more in the room. I found it very uncomfortable, there were beds in the room and the lady at the front desk the next day told us that it was not a problem.

There was very little natural light in the room. We were on the top floor and had just 3 very small windows you could barely see out. The air con didn't work and the room was never cool.
There were no coffee making facilities in the room which would have been nice. The hotel was very overpriced for the room we were given. Not worth the rating it has. Disappointed

Stayed 2 nights at Hotel Ópera in Madrid. It is in a very convenient location near the Royal Palace of Madrid and Opera House, along with many other tourist attractions. The first night they gave us a bigger room (room 903) on the top floor. It had a great city view and palace view. However, this room had a broken air conditioning system. I ended up opening the casement windows on the slanted roof/wall to get cool air at night. Also the shower door was too wide it couldn't open all the way if swing inward or bump the toilet when swing outward. Otherwise this room would've been a cute room for kids with 3 beds. The staff was nice enough and relocate us to a different room on the second night with complimentary breakfast. The relocated room had no problem. Due to the location, you can hear the street and crowd noise at night. It is one of the less expensive hotel around this area; but you get what you paid for.

The Opera dinner show on Saturday a must !!! Don't speak the language it still was the best !!! The food full course delicious the singers amazing!!!
My only complaint is the place needs some updates in rooms and hall ways !!!

Hotel Ópera is literally across the street from the Madrid Royal Opera and Royal Palace and is ideally located close to many of Madrid’s iconic landmarks. The hotel restaurant serves scrumptious local cuisine and has beverages for every taste. However, the BEST THING about staying at Hotel Ópera is its AMAZING weekly opera/Zarzuela dinner show with world class opera singers and musicians. You will enjoy this show even if you are not an opera buff or if you don’t speak Spanish. You will not be disappointed by this diamond of a show in this gem of a hotel in Madrid’s historic “centro” or downtown.

This hotel has a great location, close to the Madrid center. We walked everywhere from here. Great dining options nearby, even a next door Paella restaurant that was amazing. The room was comfortable, bathroom very spacious with a big jacuzzi tub. We enjoyed our stay here.

We would absolutely recommend this room type (quad) and location. There were four separate beds made up upon our arrival. Perfect for our jet-lagged family of four to get some rest! From here, it was easy to walk or catch the metro wherever we wanted to go.

From arrival to departure, the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming and always on hand to help. My room was very clean and welcoming with a spotless bathroom and room service each day. The location is amazing as the metro is a minute walk away and the hotel is pretty much part of central Madrid so you walk out of the hotel, and you've got everything within walking distance and a wide choice of bars, restaurants and shops. The hotel was quiet and peaceful even though it's so close to the centre of everything. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would happily stay here again and recommend to friends.

Outstanding opera experience over dinner.

This was our second stay at the Hotel Opera. The highlight was an excellent Saturday evening dinner to opera. We were joined by a pianist, a soprano, a contralto and a tenor who performed famous arias and some light Spanish opera.
The rooms, cafe and service were excellent.

Good location

Good location. Close to metro (Opera), theater and major attractions (Mercato San Miguel, Almudena Cathedral and Royal Palace to name a few. Best of all, the hotel is surrounded by loads of restaurants. The hotel itself is not so bad. Old but still decent. Maybe an upgrade of facilities and uptake to a more modern vibe will make the hotel more attractive.

I didn’t like that the restaurant would not set up their outdoor seating until noon. This meant that breakfast had to be taken indoors in a crowded room. Tables and chairs were piled up outside the restaurant but they wouldn’t set them up until noon.

We booked for 2 adults and 1 kid. Room layout was uncomfortable, beds to close. Almost no space to walk around. Bathroom space was to small. We were expecting something more comfortable for the price. Location and staff were good.
