We stayed here two years ago (and it was wonderful) and decided to return for just one night. We stayed in the other building this time. I feel like they are trying really hard, but having a hard time with the general maintenance and upkeep of the hotel. Everything worked, and it was a pleasant experience. The staff was very helpful and kind.

This hotel was very dirty, the first initial room we walked into had a lighter on the chair in the room and was not what I had booked and at first glance it was dirty the floor wasn’t vacuumed the chair arms were black from grime build up. They did accommodate us to a bigger room. However it wasn’t any better very dirty pillows were stained yellow and you could see through the pillow cases bathroom shower walls had grime build up in the tile grout and around the sink on walls was toothpaste and different things on the walls the smoke detectors were tapped off hallways were messy and the doors leading outside were broken so it wasn’t secure in any way towels were not completely dry either

Overall our stay was okay, but we were unable to control the temperature in the room and the TV signal was intermittent even though there were no storms in the area. The breakfast was good expect for the last day of our stay when they had run out of food with an hour left of service to go.

Me & my family stayed here for a weekend and was so terrible our room smelled like smoke & was a nonsmoking room was dirty, luckily there was a Walmart nearby we bought our own cleaning supplies and cleaned ourselves. The satellite TV had no working channels buffering all the time, including internet. This stay was a bad experience.

Horrible experience. Both A/C units barely worked. Had to buy a fan from Walmart to even get the air moving. Both TV's didnt work, wouldn't turn on or coonect to the dish. Couldn't find an employee or get through to the front desk by phone. Neither phone in our room worked, and when I tried calling by cell phone, all I got was the line busy tone. Multiple phone calls by myself and my wife. Couldn't find the WIFI password, and guess what... Couldn't ask the front desk for the WIFI password, cause no one was around. Stay at your own risk. The ONLY good thing about this hotel was the restaurants and Walmart literally being in walking distance.

After an impromptu decision to visit our youngest at Tech, we booked a room at The Ashmore Inn and Suites in Lubbock for the holiday weekend. We’ve stayed there, as well as many other Lubbock hotels over the last 30 years. Ashmore has never been anything fancy or fantastic, but clean, safe and reliable.

This visit was horrible. The hotel is under construction, with various parts of the hotel littered with random trash and projects. The halls and stairways are filthy. Check in wasn’t friendly & welcoming, just matter of fact. The key box to enter the hotel doesn’t work very well, so you have to scan your key numerous times in order for the door to open )sign next to the box even says so). However the other external door was left completely unlocked because it was “broken”, or easy access for construction workers.
Got to our room and had the same issue with scanning both keys.

Room was relatively clean and air conditioner was working great. Bed was not comfortable and the sheets were stained. The tv had no remote, and the cable box remote wouldn’t work on the tv. We were tired so we went to sleep immediately.

The next day we let the front desk know the tv and phone did not work (as we tried to call the front desk). After several calls from my cell, the receptionist came to the room and confirmed, the remote did not work, nor did the other 2 he brought with him. The tv controls weren’t working either other than to power on and off. He offered to switch

Unfortunately, my stay was disappointing overall. The first room we were given had a very strong smell of cigarette smoke and what also smelled like marijuana, so I asked to be moved. The second room was better, but it still had several issues. The bed was comfortable, but the fitted sheet was too small for the mattress and kept coming off every time someone sat or laid on the bed.
The room was also missing several basic items. There was no toilet paper, only two towels for our group, no tissues, and none of the usual complimentary toiletries like soap or shampoo. We also needed sheets for the sofa bed. When I called the front desk to request these items, I was told to come pick them up myself instead of having them delivered to the room, which was disappointing and not the level of customer service I expected.
Even though our room was in a designated non-smoking section, the hallways and elevator area smelled strongly of cigarette smoke the entire time.
The one thing this hotel has going for it is its location. It's conveniently located right off the freeway and close to shopping centers and plenty of restaurants. The location is definitely a 10/10. Unfortunately, the room condition and customer service did not match the great location, so I would not choose to stay here again.

This place is disgusting. Room was never cleaned before I checked in. The bed was made to make it look clean. But the sheets, and pillows, had fresh stains everywhere on them. Sofa was covered in glitter and stains. Fridge didn't work. Carpet was sticky. Toothpaste and snot in the sink from previous renter. Hair everywhere. Broken toilet seat. Cigarette butts on floors in hallways. Staff was no help, and refused a refund for my booking. Expedia was no help either. And said they won't refund it because of their policies. Will never use Expedia again, and would recommend this hotel gets closed down

We have stayed at Ashmore Inn for several years. Each time we have stayed, we have had issues, such as the TV not working, the key card not working, etc. Usually the issues were resolved during our stay.

This time the key card once again did not work and we had to go to the front desk every day of our 3 day stay to get it reset.

The TV wouldn't work with the remote. We couldn't get it to turn off so we had to unplug it. Then it wouldn't come back on. They finally resolved the issue the second day (the remote still didn't work but there were small buttons on the TV we could manually turn on/off).

The carpet from the door to the edge of the bathroom wall was VERY sticky. We asked them to clean it, but they never did.

Entire hotel smells bad and the rooms were particularly bad. The bed was okay but it felt like the carpet had some kind of filth. The air conditioner did not look like it had been cleaned out in a long time so it smelled musty.

The amenities were not great either as their hot tub was cold and developed a thick foam on the surface and many bugs were contained in the foam.. this is due to open windows and no bug screens. I felt gross sitting in it.

Before I went to the hot tub in the morning, I saw a worker going room to room before checkout time. Since I was still in my room, I asked he not go in to grab linens (no do not disturb sign available) and he said he wouldn't. I was briefly in the \"hot\" tub only long enough to get disgusted and then left. I was in my room drying off and soon after got a knock on the door from the same guy who said he would not enter my room!! My wallet was in the room and I am very glad I returned as he should not have been going room to room prior to check out time.

All in all, my stay was horrible and was not offered any kind of refund or anything to make it right. I do NOT recommend this hotel AT ALL!!!

My room was given away, even though I had already booked and prepaid. When I told the night person they were not concerned at all and just told me to do the pullout couch in the room.
When I was in the bathroom, I was locked in. I could not get out and my mother had to come and open the door for me.
I was able to get the room I had booked, the next day but only because I said I would wanted a refund and would go to another hotel. There was one towel in the room, no hand towels, no washcloths when we asked for more. We got two pool towels, which were like drying off with sandpaper. I will never stay there again.

The first room had an abundance of dead bugs all over the restroom floor. We were given another room, the refrigerator was not working, frozen ice dripping and not cooling and we asked for maintenance. The air conditioner unit ran loudly and continually, could not turn it off, and grew frost on the front panel while not cooling the room the entire time we stayed, (I took pictures as proof) and again, asked for maintenance. The room keys needed to be recoded several times each day. No working ice machines anywhere on site. No room service, we had to get our own towels. Trash was not removed from our room during the 4 days we stayed. We reported all to the manager, requested a refund, and were told we would not qualify since we didn't leave. We couldn't leave nor afford another hotel because we had already paid for the Ashmore! HORRIBLE experience!

A little disappointed in this stay. The staff person who checked us in was very professional and personable. The bed and sheets were clean as well as the bathroom. However, the room had not been vacuumed and there were goldfish crackers, a piece of meat and crumbs on the carpet. Something white was smeared on the curtains. Behind the nightstand between the beds was trash, q-tip, and overall very dusty/filthy. There was a heavy layer of dust beside the refrigerator and more trash and dust behind the shelving in the room. While the bathroom was clean the wall paper was coming off the wall. I have stayed at this place before and the rooms were much cleaner.

Our room was not clean. There was hair on the sheets, dog hair all over the furniture, and the floor was not clean. My mom and I were traveling together with my 4 year old and a man pulled into the parking lot, watched us unload and then backed out and drove by very slowly still watching. Then when we were walking down the hall another man peeked out of his room and watched us walk down the hall to our room. The lock on the door to go outside by our room was completely ripped off the door and it did not lock. It was so bad we decided to leave and not stay there. Two women traveling alone, we did not feel safe.

Building is a non smoking establishment but the room smelled terrible of cigarette smoke. As we were leaving, I noticed the smoke detector was covered with a plastic bag so it wouldn't go off. Very dangerous.
The pictures of the rooms & facility were much better online than what we found upon arrival. The bed was ok for sleeping. The A/C was incredibly loud when it kicked on. Outside temps were around 100, so was necessary to use.
Breakfast was just OK. Ice machine was out of order. No remote for the TV. No daily cleaning or towel replacement like other hotels I have stayed at.
Scariest part was the outside entry door to the hallway had no latch, so key access wasn't secure. 2 of the 3 nights we were there, someone knocked on our door around midnight. Saw thru the peephole a guy one night just standing there. Asked what he wanted but couldn't understand him & he walked away. Called the front desk, not sure what they did. Wondering if they are pushing drugs or prostitution. Saw one woman entering the unsecured door late at night with no luggage & scantily dressed.
I would never stay there again.

The air conditioner was leaking water all over the carpet in my room.Told the staff the first day I was there and didn't even offer me another room. Then the key card wasn't working. When I did get into the room, packed my bags and left. Spend the rest of my stay in another hotel.

Everything was absolutely disgusting there. The locks on the windows were broken and there were no screens on the windows and we were on the first floor. The pool was dirty. There were cigarette butts on the window sill. We left right after we checked in and requested our money back! But low and behold \"management couldn't be contacted\" to approve the refund. First room they had to change me rooms there was toe nails all over the floor they did not vacuum, the bed sheets were not changed and were dirty it smelled like smoke and pee on the floor and hair and shower was black and dirty also curtains were brown stained. Second room smelled good and felt cleaner but was not vacuumed and the toilet had pee all over it and looked like dry blood on my bed sheets and floor towels were dirty. Also curtains looked stained and it was very dusty in there. And saw a man cleaning the room next to us and he said all the staff went home for the day and nobody could help me with the room until a couple of days.

The building itself is outdated but clean for the most part. Things just didn’t work. Tv connections were no good, always trying to connect. My remote wouldn’t work. The front desk clerk was somewhat helpful but didn’t really do what she said she would do. And none of the ice machines worked in the whole building. The continental breakfast was sparse at best with little effort in putting it together for its guests.

Horrible stay! It was a last minute booking and unfortunately I didn’t take the time to research reviews. Being woken up at 5am because the neighbors were fighting wasn’t cool. They were fighting in the room next door & it lead out into the hallway. They had no regard for others. The staff was notified & nothing happened. They fought for about 2 hours before they either passed out or one of them left. The vibe of the hotel was weird to say the least. It seemed off & not safe.

First at check-in the original room they gave was dirty. Filthy stains on the couch requested another room. The second room they gave me bathroom was dirty. Toilet was dirty. Covers on the bed where dingy couches disgusting stain, venom dirty I did ask my second nightmare for the room to be cleaned again because the bathroom was dirty and the toilet was dirty and I wanted fresh sheets. I did not receive any of it so when I did return to the room I cleaned my bathroom, my toilet, stripped the sheets off the bed and use sheets from a family member that was local …. I just wish the staff there are mindful that people are paying for clean rooms and making sure the rooms are cleaned and up to par.

The young man running the giro t desk was no where to be found when I went to check in and when I saw my room and was leaving because it smelt like cigarettes smoke and was not very clean, he was no where to be found once again. The place was nasty. First room they gave me had no towels somebody had slept in the bed. Look like beds weren’t properly made food on the floor puke in the trashcan that had never been cleaned up. It was just downright nasty gave me another room. it looked OK, but there was food particles on the floor. There was a pizza box in the trashcan that had pizza in it, and the bed are very poorly made. I also got my windows broken outside by somebody but they have no security cameras throughout the whole premises on the outside not sure about the inside on the cameras.

Our stay at this hotel was incredibly frustrating. The front desk was completely disorganized and failed to charge the rooms to the correct credit cards as instructed, creating a financial mess for us.To make matters worse, we booked multiple rooms, but the room rate for one was randomly $20 more per night than the others. Ironically, this more expensive room had no working toilet for the first 24 hours of our stay. Management never offered to move us to a different room. Instead, our family had to constantly walk downstairs just to use a public restroom. Navigating this with young kids was an absolute nightmare and completely unacceptable. We paid more money for terrible logistics and fewer basic amenities. I do not recommend this hotel. The hotel also looks like it's a renovation nightmare.

I understand you get what you pay for, but this is ridiculous. The rooms were dirty. My child got locked in the bathroom for hours overnight because the bathroom door did not unlock from the inside. I told the staff immediately when it happened the first time they said they would get somebody to the room to fix it because they could not move me by the next morning. No one still came. I had to go two more times. The staff refused to move me, the staff refused to fix any of the other situations. They’re only reply. I’m sorry there’s nothing we can do! When you open fold out beds, there was used Q-tips in them. There was disgusting feminine products left from previous people. The staff seemed unconcern and unwilling to try to fix anything in a timely manner. The pool had so much chlorine in it. You could not even see the bottom. It looked like toxic chemical water

The restroom was bad holes on the wall and found a roach in the bathroom, air worked but had to mess with it a lot, the tv kept freezing, there was homeless guy just laying on the floor outside. The hallways the paper was coming off the walls, the room we got was bad it needed a lot of work. They need to fix up the hotel it was nice last time we stayed so though it would be the same but it’s like falling apart. The guy in the front check in was little rude. But beds were good and air was good after you figured a way to keep the room cold and the button on the air conditioner were broken so you had to mess with it. And then the shower was bad the tile was broken. O er all needs a lot of work. But beds were good

The air conditioning in the reception area and breakfast area was not working so it was very HOT!! The whole hotel needs to be refreshed and updated. Upon arriving to our room we discovered one of the beds was broken, we had no shower curtain or smoke detectors. All items were brought to the attention of the front desk staff, the items were not fixed during our stay. We were given a shower curtain which we had to replace ourselves. Direct TV was not functioning properly and there was delay every 13 seconds which made it impossible to watch anything. This was also brought to the attention of the front desk staff who told me “there was nothing she could do and it was due to weather.” There was no bad weather in the area it was beautiful day. We had requested that housekeeping not enter our room and the request was ingnored during our stay!

Checked in to the room and it was absolutely disgusting. There was urine on the toilet seat, dirty toilet paper on the back of the toilet rim, food packages under the table, hair on the table and it was obvious were someone had been on the bed. The lobby and the area that hosted the breakfast were not air conditioned. It was miserable waiting to talk to staff. We did not stay! In fact we decided not to even stay in Lubbock! We drove that very night to Denton. Ashmore did not refund me ANYTHING for my reservations even though I had provided them with pictures to show the unsanitary and inexcusable condition of the room. I have requested a refund through Hotels.com. I am hoping they will do the right thing and refund the reservation. I would never recommend this property to anyone.

The door had a half inch gap on the top because the staff told me a hatch has been replaced and then covered with black tape. This place was atrocious! Walking in a we noticed a stench then subsequently discovered the room had not been cleaned. No vacuuming , smeared mirrors, dirty, hairy floor in bathroom, toilet paper that was sopping wet like it had fell in the toilet. So we demanded another room, and found out quickly that it was worse. There was a dirty brown rag lying conspicuously in the middle of the bathroom floor like whoever was supposed to clean the room was totally indifferent if the room appeared clean or not. The deadbolt wouldn’t work so we ended having to go back to the old room so we at least felt safe overnight knowing we were locked in. Neither one of the rooms had a working coffee pot. Both of them were defective even after I squeezed behind the TV stand to plug them in. I will NEVER EVER stay at this place again! No one should.

It is a budget stay and for the price it was good. More attention to cleaning and upkeep suggested, but the bed was comfy and a good sleep was what we needed. Shower was hot even though the shower head needs replaced. Some wallpaper damage was unsightly in the bathroom. But the room was large.

This hotel is definitely old and dated, but nevertheless was clean and comfortable. Even though my room was right near an outside door and vending machine, it was still very quiet. The bed was comfortable and I was able to get good sleep. If you’re on a tight budget and need a decent place to stay, I think Ashmore is a good option.

The property was so dirty and stinky. Bathroom floor was sticky and looked like it had pee all over the floor. Pillowcases were dirty had stains and they were stinky. There were beer cans in the trash can so you could tell the room had obviously not been cleaned before we got there. I told front staff several times and they said someone would go shortly to clean and no one ever went. Decided to leave early and book a different hotel I asked for a discount but they would not give discount. Also side door was being held propped open with a rock which I felt was very unsafe.

I loved the fact that they had breakfast and their price was great. The part about this trip that sucked the most is that my debit card info was stolen on this trip and I am pretty sure this is wheee it happened. It was literally the only place that my card was physically presented on my whole 10 day trip. I hope that what appeared to be 2 days in a row worth of Panda Express for someone’s lunch was worth the bad rating!

This is a old motel style facility and I mean old. If you don't mind sheetrock exposed and peeling away from the ceiling from water damage or wallpaper screwed into the wall to keep it up, this motel is for you. When we walked into the room, it was evident the carpet hadn't been vacuumed and room cleaned. The next morning I talked to the manager about the condition of the room and asked if our room could be cleaned that day. The manager seemed to not care very much about my request and it was obvious because the room was in the same condition as it was when we left 12 hours earlier. The hairdryer was attracted to the wall at eye level and you could see the dirt and hair accumulated on top and not cleaned. The previous guests left a child's clothing in the bathtub. The wallpaper was dirty and discolored. Wallpaper in the hallways were taped at the seems and painted trying to match the color and done poorly. Only one ice machine working. The good aspects of the room was good cold a/c and hot water. If you believe all hotels are the same when the lights are turned off, this hotel is for you. As I was leaving another guests told me it was the same for his room. We had stayed at this motel a couple of years ago and it wasn't in this terrible condition. We won't be staying in the future.

The evening/night staff was condescending and unhelpful with television and forgotten toiletries.

My first two rooms had broken TVs. My third room had a poorly running AC unit. The TVs went out during the TTU softball game and I was unable to watch. Wallpaper peeling off in the bathroom. No pool chairs, just a couple of regular chairs around a single table.

We stayed here last August and it was decent enough to book again for this trip to Lubbock. I wish we would have stayed elsewhere. The room we stayed in was “under construction” the bathroom was disgusting with half finished walls and shower surround. We found old razors still in the shower, other people’s hair in the bathroom and on the bed. I even went as far as to go and buy a special UV light to check for bed bugs and other foreign contaminants and luckily there were no other issues. For the price we paid ($72 a night) we could have probably gotten a better room elsewhere. But in the future we probably will not be staying at the Ashmore again.

DO not stay at this property. The room was unacceptable when we arrived. The AC was not working properly, the shower was broken, the TV wouldn’t work, and there was a bag of trash in our room. The staff was not helpful at all. The hotel manager did promise us a refund on May 15th, but we still haven’t received it as of May 31st. Expedia has not been helpful in assisting us with the refund. My bank is involved now.

I dont like that they omitted the fact that they charge 35 dollar a day pet fee
That wasn’t clear at the time of the reservation online and they charged me 70 dollars later on

This was a bad experience for me 35 dollars a day is a lot of cash for a pet fee and they were not transparent on that will not be staying there eny more
It honestly felt like a shake down when the guy at the counter saw my dog he sprung this fee on me like he had a pretense to find something to charge me for . Nowear did i see a sign online or on the premises that they charged for a pet let alone 35 a day
I could have stayed at a better place for 85 dollars a night plus a pet fee or 35 dollars a night
Dishonest practices
At best its just irresponsible to not state the pet fee clearly on the website or at the front desk u

Upon checking into the hotel, we drove around to find our room. The room was on the second floor so we decided to just use the stairs. Upon exiting the stairwell there was a bag of trash lying on the floor and pizza boxes on top of the trash can. This was understandable as it was 4:00 pm. We entered our room and it had an odor. Noticed that the tv rotating base was mounted and broken so that the tv leaned backward. Then I grabbed the remote to the tv to see if the tv even worked. There was not a back on the remote. Tried to use the remote to turn on the tv to no avail. Finally used the power button on the tv itself to turn it on. After a few seconds, Family Feud popped up on the tv and the channel could not be changed. Called the front desk to inform them about the tv and the remote. They told me that they would try to come check it if they found time to. In the meantime, noticed that there was makeup on one of the pillows. Pulled back the sheets to inspect them and they did appear to be clean. We had a graduation to go to so we left to attend. After the graduation ceremony, we went to Walmart and purchased Lysol. Entered the room and sprayed everything to disinfect and help make the smell not so noticeable. Pulled sheets off and sprayed everything, including the bathroom. As I was spraying the bathroom, I noticed a few small insects around the tub and sprayed them directly. Returning later, the smell was better. Would never stay here again.

The rooms on the extended side are disgusting. Toilets with poop left in them, roaches, stains everywhere, gross ac units, people tried to get into our room at 10pm, our door latch didn’t work, ac stopped working, hostile loiters in the lobby, key cards stopped working at 11pm, I could go on. The only consolation was the staff was pretty accommodating and we were able to switch rooms twice (but all were gross). We were able to get a refund for the night we didn’t stay which was nice (it was non refundable)

I’m sad because we’ve stayed here 3 times prior and have never had issues till now. When we arrived the guy gave us one key (room 177) and didn’t give us directions on where to go so we assumed we were on the 1st floor of the main building. After wondering around with no luck I asked the front desk guy for directions on where to go. He didn’t hear me at first because he was on his phone, but after I repeated myself he directed us to the other building. Our room smelled like mildew, there was a nerd gummy cluster stuck in the peep hole, the bed frame seemed broken because the bed was unusually low to the ground, and there was a slimy substance on our comforter. The custodian was very nice and got us a new comforter!

Pool is beautiful, love the balconies, excellent staff, large indoor jacuzzi. If you have any issues the manager Samantha will definitely make sure you’re well taken care of. Great for when you want a break from the “chain hotels” quiet, and there is also a seperate extended stay with ovens, full size fridge, etc.
