I normally try and be fair about reviews but this hotel was awful. The elevator didn’t work so we had to carry our luggage up to 3rd floor. The room was dirty and didn’t seem to have been cleaned very well. The shower tub was peeling and had a disgusting rubber mat over it to hide the peeling. The sink and toilet area was dirty and dated. The AC for the room worked poorly so we were hot or cold all night. It was truly a disgusting experience!

The hotel was fine for what we needed but it's older and need of repairs. The elevator was down when we arrived so we had to carry quite a bit of luggage upstairs. They took the sign down the second day but it was still acting sketchy. The dishwasher in our room had a \"Do Not Use\" sign. One of the pillowcases had a orange stain on it. I think it was clean, just stained but we didn't use it just in case. The bathroom floor was warped so the door didn't open all the way but we were able to work around it. Overall, the hotel was fine for just being there two days but I'm not sure I would want to stay longer.

The entire property is very dingy. Had to have the room keys reprogrammed so many times that I asked them to replace them. The biggest complaint is the doors leading to outside are broken. The key sensor is not there and hasn’t been in a long time. You have to put a rock to prop the door open IF someone can open it for you from the inside. The door going out to the pool is the same. There isn’t a note on the door so you don’t know you are locked out till you have to bang for someone to let you in. They also lock the front main door at night and WILL NOT open it so you have to walk around the building to find the one outside door that actually works. These doors have very obviously been broken for a long time. You would think this would be a priority to get fixed.

Unfortunately we had to leave, we try if they can return the money. As soon we arrived the room I checked and so some hair in the tub, decided to clean and that was my worse decision. Was so many hair and was really unsanitary, I was even concern to touch the towels, and bed that i hadn’t check yet, they offered another room but the amount of hair in the first room make me think that could be similar or if even possible worse. And it wasn’t dog hair neither They definitely didn’t inspect the room after, and the worse part was the kind of hair. Was even stuck in the soap dispenser.

The woman at the check in desk was very nice, helpful and courteous. The room was a mess. The floors hadn’t been vacuumed, there were crumbs all over the floor, and the corners looked like they’d never been touched by a vacuum. The bottom of the tub was peeling and pieces were floating in the water after we showered. When we woke up in the morning, there was a cockroach laying on its back still alive. Maybe they had just sprayed. I’m not sure? I definitely think the cleanliness was a big issue!

The room was neglected and dirty sheets in the closet. Felt dirty. Lights were barely hanging off ceiling. TV cable box was unplugged and missing 2nd remote to turn on TV. The light near the bathroom didn’t work. We were supposed to get a King bed and only got a Queen bed. Was very loud road noise next to University and 19th Street. Was not what we expected.

I could go get a chair from the dining hall. TV did not work. Had to get repair man to fix it. Bathroom fan did not work. Repair man had to order part. There was no coffee maker and staff said they did not have another one to give us. There were no linens for the sofa sleeper. Dirty dishes were in dishwasher when we arrived. Staff was not caring and made no accommodations for room issues.

Where do I start , we spend 2 nights with my husband and son . The room is terrible , old and dirty carpet , old furniture, the sofa bed is uncomfortable , the bathroom is not updated and the tub was with a yellow spots . The elevator had a scary noise like you are going to be stuck in there. My recommendation is not going there!

None of the outlets in our room worked, so we couldn't charge our phones. The dishwasher had a sign on it stating not to use it. They really need to update this hotel. There was a ton of outside noise all night and the beds weren't very comfortable.
We really appreciated how close the hotel was to Texas Tech. Staff was very friendly and nice.

It was close to TTU and I was able to walk there several times. It was also close to other events I was attending by car. I was disappointed that the pool was closed a couple of days before I arrived... No notice was given on the website. The bathroom sink was not draining well, the toilet valve in the tank was not sealing properly so it had to refill itself periodically (waste of water), the facility was dated but it was convenient and had what I needed. It was nice havng a kitchen.

Great location for Tech Game or university visit

Stayed here for a Texas Tech game and had a great experience! The front desk staff were very welcoming, and the breakfast team was super friendly. The location was perfect, saved on parking with just a pleasant 1-mile walk to the stadium, plus plenty of food and drink spots along the way. The room felt a little dated, but the bed was very comfortable, and overall the stay was excellent. Would definitely stay again!

Only a couple of negatives on my stay: The TV wouldn’t connect to cable so we had to have the front desk come help. We had to fix it like he did EVERY time we turned it off after that. Secondly, the bath tub had a low spot so we stood in a puddle during showers.

The location and friendly staff are the only reason I'm giving it 2 stars.

Our room was missing a coffee table and the room wasn't as advertised. The pictures showed a separation of rooms - bedroom and living room with a door separating the two spaces. Wrong. It was one big room.
The room was overall musty, and it never really cooled down. The wall-mounted bedside shelves and drawers were coming off the walls, so the drawers wouldn't stay closed because they drooped so much.

Also - We discovered we had little roommates - ants! We saw them near the kitchenette on the last day.

Obviously, the location can't be beat if you're visiting someone at Texas Tech. It's right across the street.

Employees were super friendly! No shade to them. Stay here only if you don't care about musty rooms or missing or broken furniture.

Great location if coming for anything TTU related - right across the street. The hotel is showing it's age for sure. Everything worked but just looked a bit aged/tired. For example, TV that was not able to stream Netflix/Prime just show the 15 channels on their little cable box (none of them premium movie channels unless you pay extra). However the price is modest so set expectations accordingly. Half the parking lot was filled with fleet trucks from construction companies on long term projects - the suites enable long term stays. Didn't cause me any issues except for finding parking around crane trucks and large box trucks. We did enjoy the included breakfast..

Pigeons nesting above entrance with a lot of pigeon poop on the ground around the entrance. Tile broken in the bathroom that kept moving when stepped on. Bathroom was dirty. Cockroach found dead inside room door on last day. They had us in the wrong room, then did not want to change us back to the intended room as I wanted.

I didn’t like that I could not block out the light from the windows. The air conditioning was extremely noisy, along with facing a busy road was awful. The room was also missing a coffee maker and a dining table and chair, like the photos. So, lunch and dinner was eaten either sitting on the couch, or the bed. One other thing, the microwave was not where it should/would normally be and was out on a low shelf near the floor; weird.

It was a place to stay while son had basketball camp and I was doing some schooling, not worth the price I paid and room I received, but was tolerable. More like a $70 room. Pool was closed entire time and was one of the reasons we chose this place and its location. It got closed the day we arrived and was closed for good.

The Staybridge Suites Lubbock University area has many unaddressed maintenance issues. The elevator made load noises and needed repair. In our room, neither TV worked, some lights didn’t work, there was no coffee maker or toilet seat, the sofa bed barely opened, and the room was dark and dingy. The staff was friendly and tried hard, but the property is sorely in need of an upgrade.

One of the worst hotels we have stepped into

Gross hotel, they are refusing to refund me 3 nights we did not stay after already being charged the cancellation policy of the first nights stay. Pool was posted to be open, it was closed the week we were staying, which was the entire reason we picked this hotel. They did not tell us about this at check in or prior to check in. They charged my card before checking ing or I never would have checked in. The lobby was in poor condition, the room was damp and smelled like mold, the floor was dirty. We communicated politely with the from desk we would not be staying and contacted expedia for a refund. Days later the manager will not refund the 3 nights we did not stay, going against their cancellation policy of first night's stay. The hotel is NOTHING like the listing photos.

This hotel was a little worn, but the location and staff’s caring attitude makes up for that. They were welcoming and we could tell they really care about this hotel. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes, condiments and cooking supplies. Free breakfast had lots of choices. the only cons were low water pressure in the bath/shower and TV in living room had no sound.
