Our first time at this hotel. We enjoyed it and we will return this Summer.
The room could have been a bit cleaner. The bedside table had sticky on it and the floors around the bed had clearly not been vacuumed, however the rest of the hotel we loved. We are going to give it one more try and hope the room cleaning service just had an off day just like we all do sometimes.

Staff was very welcoming and accommodating. Location is great for Texas Tech visits as well as easy access for traveling around Lubbock. Property is a bit dated but our towels were fluffy fresh. We stayed at the Overton during spring graduation so room pricing was quite inflated. Would stay there again if visiting Lubbock.

Needs major updates / maintenance in rooms. Rusted tub, shower head completely loose from wall, dirty smell in room, a/c not cooling enough, some of the pillows were missing filling and smelled.

The hotels location is perfect and is I feel safe staying alone at this location. This was my second time staying here but when we were packing up to leave I noticed someone else's door key underneath the sink area and there was a used eye contact behind the bed, and trash behind the dresser. I mentioned this to the front desk and was told management would be notified.

Bath room was a little gross. Tubs have rust on them. Rooms were not cleaned on a daily basis.

I wasn't told until after I left that there was an additional charge for parking. A lot of college kids used the same lot so I ended up having to park close to the highway, several hundred feet away from the hotel.

The room had a lot of broken things. The lights next to the beds didn’t work. The hot water knob on the bathroom sink had water leaking from it whenever you turned it on. The toilet paper was cheap. I booked a room for 3 people with 2 beds but they only gave us 2 towels. The pool and hot tub were pretty dirty which I get West Texas winds and dirt so not sure they can help that. We had a charge to our room for breakfasts which we didn’t eat or charge to the room and have yet to get a call that it’s been corrected. Otherwise the hotel was pretty clean and staff were really nice. I just expected more from the Overton. I was going to Tech when it was being built and our family usually gets Airbnbs or we stay with friends and family when we go to Lubbock but we wanted to stay at the Overton for once and it was kind of disappointing.

The best part of the property is the lobby. The rooms themselves felt older and worn. The greatest regret of our stay was eating breakfast at the hotel restaurant. Waited 15 minutes for a staff member to even notice we were waiting to be seated. We asked for a high chair which never came, were offered water which never came, and had to physically leave the table to search for someone to ask for the bill - literally no staff member came close to our table after the food arrived. In the end, I had to go back to the room with my 1 year old and 3 year old while my husband waited for the bill to finally arrive because the kids were losing it and there was no end in sight. Food was pricey and super basic. We could have had a much better experience at half the price at any Lubbock breakfast restaurant.

We were gone all day, our room wasn’t cleaned until the evening. We were only given one bath towel for two people. We did not receive clean glasses for second day.
The day bartender had no clue what she was doing. She didn’t know how to make a proper Chilton! She messed up order after order while we sat at the bar. She had trouble ringing up orders…what a disaster. She kept blaming it on it being busy- there were maybe 16-20 people. The second night the bartenders were great and it was very busy!
The Overton used to be top notch…hopefully things will get turned around.

Moving forward we will be staying across the street at the Hyatt. Tons of dust in our room. One box of tissues and a few tv stations and big delay changing channels to boot. You also cannot close ur snack store all the tine and fir second stay in a row ur back doors are locked and had to walk all the to front. And not all of us want a ton of spice on our steaks!! After checking into the room I was washing up and noticed it was dirty behind the faucet, I looked closer and saw an old dried up contact lens. I went and told the front desk and they called house keeping. I decided I’d go for a walk. I was gone for almost 2 hours and when I got back the room still hadn’t been cleaned. I went to the front desk again and complained. One of the ladies there went up and personally cleaned it. I then went to the bar and ordered a rare ribeye and it came out well done, they sent it back and when I got it again it was closer to raw than rare. Kitchen manager came out and talked with me and he made it right. I normally don’t complain but for this price of room and steak my expectations were higher than what I received. Front desk ladies, bartenders and managers of the bar/kitchen were all super friendly and polite. If ever in Lubbock again I will give it another shot.

We have stayed at this hotel numerous times, but this might be our last. If you haven’t stayed here, this hotel has a HUGE parking lot - and they now charge you to park overnight. (It’s Lubbock, not Dallas - give me a break!)

When we checked in (after reserving a king room), we went to the room and had been given two beds. I called downstairs and was told “we’re full and have none” - reminded us of a Seinfeld episode. After going downstairs and checking again, lo and behold they had a king room. (I THINK it’s because we booked through Hotels.com…their preference is for you to book directly through them)

The hotel / rooms are looking tired. They need to inject some CapEx $$ in the property.

Upon checking out, I wasn’t asked if I’d like a copy of my receipt. I was told it would come via email. I was referring to incidentals - I had to call once home to actually GET that receipt. The front desk staff was very whatever.

All in all, this hotel has been better. I’d look elsewhere.

I believed the price was a little high. Also did not like how the parking lot was busy at night with everyone parking to go to the club across the street.

Sat down at a table in the bar area and waited 10 minutes and no one came to our table, even though they saw us sitting there. Got up and asked for a menu and got one and even after doing that, no one still did not come to the table to ask if we wanted to order anything.

The bathroom was poorly cleaned, with visible mold and mildew on the shower curtain, suggesting infrequent cleaning. It was evident that a thorough deep cleaning is required to meet hygiene standards. I had higher expectations for this hotel given its reputation. The room service was unresponsive when I called. The card reader went down at check in and weren’t able to check people in. We left to Mae our dinner reservations. Got back to property at 6:45, at that point we were told there were no rooms cleaned and ready yet. It would be another 10 minutes before we could get our room. Finally at 7:45 we were put in rooms.
