We had a good stay. We were able to check in early which was super convenient especially with the blizzard. The room was nice and clean and the hotel is very close to the Empire State Building. The only down side is that the hotel charges you an amenities fee at the end of your stay which was dumb. The lady at the desk when I checked out was kinda rude too. Apparently the amenities are the discount the bakery next door offers however we didn’t use the discount. Also for the two water bottles and wifi… isn’t that what the room fee is for? It’s just odd and felt scammy. We didn’t have this issue at the two other hotels we stayed at near Rockefeller center. So I probably wouldn’t come back because of that.

The hotel is ok — it’s a place to sleep. If you’re placed on the second floor, ask for a higher one immediately or you’ll clearly hear the restaurant’s music next door.

I called to be moved and was told there were no rooms available and “don’t worry ma’am, the music will be off at 1am.” No paying guest should have to wait until 1am to get proper rest. For nearly $1,000, I expected better soundproofing and a more proactive solution. Guests placed on the second floor should honestly be discounted due to the noise.

On our last day there was also a power outage — no heat, elevators down, and some rooms had no water. This is a 12-floor building, so guests on higher floors had to walk the stairs. When I asked how they were accommodating guests, I was told we’d have to wait for the general manager in the morning.

Overall, not worth the price and I would not recommend.

Do not stay here based on the photos. As with so many hotels.com pictures, the hotel makes one room look amazing and the rest are absolute dumps. This was the case with our room. OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD music played until 12:30am in the morning. It was 14° outside and there was a freaking gap in the bathroom window. Every single thing about this stay, from the utter lie of the photos, to the lack of heat was AWFUL.

We absolutely loved staying at The Gregorian. This is a small hotel that is well-maintained and full of charm. The room was perfect for our short stay and the beds were super comfy. The hotel is centrally located and a good base for exploring New York. We would definitely stay here again.

I’m sad to give this hotel a bad review. I came about a year ago and had a nice stay. They really need to work on their customer service. I arrived from a late trip and waited about 20 minutes ti received my key to have the gentleman tell me they are having technical issues. So every time I had to leave my room, I had to be escorted back in. I went to my hotel and was met with an extremely loud ventilation system that would not let me sleep. When I told the lady over the phone, she laughed at my concerns. Fridge didn’t work. And an overall extremely disappointing stay. Second time there and it will definitely be the last time.

It was freezing outside with snow and sleet everywhere. When we first got in our room it had no heat. We call down stairs and they say their “engineer” was on lunch. This didn’t make much since as it was 4pm, they wouldn’t tell us when he would be back, when the heat would be turned back on and offered no suggestions. The manager was conveniently missing and not answering their phone. After going back and forth for 30 minutes and refusing to stay in this room, the finally gave us a second room directly underneath. Well the room was just as unimpressive as the other, both having stains on the wall and a large stain on both couches.

The heat was at least working, well sort of, the windows they have must have been 1 pixel wide as I could feel every gust of wind.

After a long evening walking around I went to take a shower and guess what. The water was yellow! This is more then a typical it turned on yellow and became clear, it was alternating between dark and light yellow for 10 minutes before I called it quits.


We chose the Gregorian based off of its reviews and location and we were sadly very disappointed.


Also get this,

They charge a 49.99 amenity charge per night that they try and charge you as you leave! I knew nothing of this charge and they were not upfront with it. After asking if the yellow water and paper thin windows is what they were referring to as amenities they tried to justify it with it’s a very common practice to charge these fees after checkout.

The place is great, but between Expedia and the Hotel - apparently there were some hidden fees by the hotel and this was not explained at all until check out. This needed to be explained better either by expedia or the hotel

*Staff were friendly and pleasant, always greeting us on the way in and out.
*Location is good. It was very close to the Empire State Building and close enough for us to walk to Times Square.
*Charming heritage property
Cons:
*It was excessively noisy at night with drunks yelling on the street out front. Garbage trucks could be heard at all hours of the night. We used ear plugs, but still could hear lots of noise on the 4th floor facing 35W street. It was hard to get a good nights sleep.
*the bathtub was like riding a wave as water got under the resurfaced tub structure and the faucet constantly dripped.
*The room could use a refresh.
Overall, the property was okay, but at the price we paid, we expected more.

Its clean. Staff is nice. Location is amazing. But make sure you read the fine print. Apart from a incident fee of 50 $ a night that u have to pay upfront, THEY ALSO charge a resort fee of 45 a night... i tols them i was not aware of that and they said i need to reaad the fine print. I like it qhen hotels include all charges upfront. They even messaged me about the extra fees after i booked and stil failed to mention the resort fee.

There was someone’s hair clip left from a previous guest up against the bed that I finally threw away on day 4 of our stay. Everything from the linens to the carpet really could use a refresh. From was plenty spacious for our needs but we faced 35th street and you could hear everything
in the room. That was disappointing.

Very nice one night stay with the family. The doorman and front desk were wonderful and provided a high end level of service to us during our stay. Something simple but rememberable was that he made paper airplanes for the kids and they were so excited. Sometimes it's the small things and little details like that that really stand out and make you want stay at a place again the next time. Room was clean and typical size for a hotel in this area in NYC. location is great and you are across the street from Black Tap which was a win.

The first night, we had to hot water or heat in the room. They wouldn’t move us, so next morning let allowed us to shower in the room across the hall way. Second day, we moved to a new room, but the accommodations were lacking. The hotel needs repairs and upgrades. Highly NOT RECOMMENDED!

The front desk, doormen and housekeeping staff at The Gregorian made our stay welcoming and comfortable at this charming hotel which was conveniently located in heart of midtown Manhattan. Our corner room overlooking 35th St had tall windows with a comfortable king size bed and plenty of storage. The small bathroom could use a refresh as evidenced by peeling paint, chipped vanity and \"bouncy\" tub (perhaps due to a liner over tub)- would highly recommend changing it to a tiled shower. Would I stay here again? ...definitely at a better price point.

I liked the place. It’s on a one way street in NYC during the Christmas season. The hotel cannot do a thing to stop relentless horn beeping during high traffic volume and drunks leaving the pubs 3-4am. It’s not the best place if you require quiet.
