Wow. Truly a hidden gem perfect for a relaxing getaway. We chose the weekday trip as we heard it gets really busy in Tepotzlan over the weekends. The property is kept beautifully with tropical gardens and mountain views from the pool. The rooms have cozy patios with fireplaces and they deliver coffee and cookies every morning. The food in the restaurant was so good we ate every meal there vs taking a taxi into town. Hope to be back soon!

This property is stunning — lush, peaceful, and honestly one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed. The entire atmosphere feels like a little hidden paradise, so zen and relaxing that you instantly unwind the second you arrive.

The staff could not be more accommodating. Every single person went above and beyond and made the whole experience feel personal and special.

If you’re debating it at all, literally just book it. It’s an oasis.

Amomoxtli is, without exaggeration, one of the best experiences I’ve had in my life and I’ve traveled quite a bit. Staying here was a completely random choice; we were on our way to a wedding in Jiutepec and decided to make a pit stop in Tepoztlán. It ended up becoming the highlight of our entire trip.

From the moment you walk in, you feel an immediate sense of peace. The grounds are unbelievably beautiful, lush, serene, and thoughtfully designed. We stayed in a courtyard room, which made accessing the amenities so easy and convenient. Every morning, a little basket gets delivered to your door with coffee which quickly became my favorite part of the day. I looked forward to it every single morning!!

We stayed for four days and booked massages and treatments on three of those days. They were some of the most incredible spa experiences I’ve ever had. Totally worth every penny. The only thing to do is that there is no gym, but honestly with all the hikes around you wont miss it.

That said, they did mess up our spa requests (I was traveling with a man who is definitelyyyyy not my boyfriend and they gave us a couples massage with two women instead of separate ones with a male and female masseurs. The most intimate my male friend has ever been with a woman!) No matter. The food is good, the views are divine.

We recently stayed at the Amomoxtli as part of a wedding event. The resort is very private and has beautiful grounds and mountain vistas. It is very relaxing and has outstanding service. Laying around the pool is like being pampered in a little piece of paradise with great music, food and drinks. The rooms are charming and comfortable. The rain shower was amazing. My wife unfortunately got sick after the wedding and the manager Maria Zaballa was terrific arranging for Ernesto, the head of security, and a medic to come to our room to check on her. They also brought electrolyte drinks for her. Later she arranged for Ernesto to drive us into town to see a doctor. Ernesto stayed with us in town, helped interpret with the doctor, and brought us back to the resort. The next day as we were preparing to leave, both Maria and Ernesto were very attentive and made our stay as pleasant as possible while my wife recovered. I also had a hot stones massage at the spa which was one of the most skilled and best massages I have ever experienced. We want to especially thank Maria and Ernesto for their care, and to let others know that not only are the grounds, facility, dining, spa and service special, but the people working there really care about the experience of their guests and do everything they can to make it memorable.

Peaceful retreat in the charming town of Tepotzlan. The bedrooms and beds were extremely comfortable. Staff were especially good on the front desk, making our travel plans and our onward journey seamless.

Only one less star as we didn't get on with the food - it was a bit inconsistent and could lack flavour; one day the breakfast was amazing then the same dish (grandmas eggs) was nothing short of bland and lacked any of the herb toppings from the previous day. It may be just be our tastes as we prefer more punchy flavours and spice, but we were also not keen on the primarily seafood menu for lunch. Aside from the tuna tostadas - they were fab, albeit on the second serving the tuna was still a little frozen. Also would prefer the ability to make espresso and tea for ourselves in the room + a fridge as I like cold water - just a small detail.. overall would recommend

Too expensive for a cheap experience

I paid for an expensive massage but there was no bathroom. We only had one key to our room which I did not have do I had to get in the shower to use the bathroom. They messed up our room and forget to get us our room key. We waited 3 hours by the pool and reminded them multiple times before finally we got our key. They offered to pack up our room so we did not have to leave at check out. I got home and realized they did not pack my clothing from the bathroom.

The staff and grounds of Hotel Amomoxtli are second to none. This is one of the most fabulous hotels in the world. The spa and pool are incredible. I've been here twice and each time I've left saying that was one of the best hotel stays I've ever had. The coffee service in the morning is a huge treat too.

This is probably the single most beautiful property in the world. The free breakfasts were delicious beyond belief. The service from the entire staff was so good that it was emotionally touching. The place is absolutely beautiful, we had a massage done, Esteban did mine and he was very good. We also did the ceremony and bath which was great. The only thing that I didn’t like is that my room was so close to the restaurant that at night after they close the kitchen you could hear banging of dishes and workers trying to clean up but if my room was elsewhere it would be 5/5 stay. The food was excellent. Very fresh.

My husband and two friends stayed here for one night and we wish it was longer. The staff were great all around the property and the hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. The surrounding mountains was the perfect setting and just the details of the rooms and immaculate landscaping are to be appreciated. Of course the swimming pool and lounge areas is what attracts the clientele. We can’t wait to come back the next time we’re in Tepotzlán.

Pros: This is a stunningly beautiful hotel. The mountain views are incredible. Very charming. Spa services were top-notch. If you get a massage, ask for Joel. He has the hands of Thor. Overall, very friendly and welcoming staff--shout to Ariana at the reception who went above and beyond.
Cons: Services at spa and poolside bar are a little expensive in my opinion, so be prepared to spend some cash if you use these amenities. Also, it's a little far from the center of town (a good 10-15 minute drive because of the road conditions). Wish the hotel had bikes, so visitors could ride the into town. Walking is probably a solid 20-30 minutes.
Overall: I loved it and would consider coming back!

I will definitely return to the hotel. Everything was magnificent, the food, the spa, the service. Its a fake… beginning with the “eco friendly” amount of chlorine they use in the pool where they have constant bad Ibiza like music playing. The waiters in uniform have earphones like in a nightclub!
Then you go to eat and they have bad taste Muzak going on in the restaurant!
It’s a fake. Not even the intention is there.

The trees are gorgeous. The mountains are stunning but just the horrible constant music by the pool and fact that most sun beds face pool instead of the magical mountain. Should explain the attitude of the hotel. Apparently to them the view of a small pool full of people is more interesting than the mountains 😬
The people working are very unrelaxed and look like mossad agents or concert bouncers with earphones on one side as if they needed to control a mob….. so they barely hear you because they are listening to what is going on somewhere else.
They were rude at the entrance because it’s sooooo exclusive that they mistreated my friend who just wanted to join me for dinner…
You are ONLY allowed in the sauna if you have a massage. You are ONLY ALLOWED TO SWIM until 8 pm 🙁 anyway I was told all the prohibitions upon arrival. Some hotels give you water this one gives you the rounds of what you cannot do.
Overrated totally but the trees are gorgeous. And the nature surrounding. Attitude of people who own it must not be very gentle as there is an army like attitude among the staff.
It ruined my two day restful stay.

The property itself was breathtaking. The staff weren’t so friendly. I was probably the only dark skin person there besides the staff and I felt I was being treated differently because I showed them my Mexican passport instead of my American one. I asked for a infused water the same day I arrived, the guy in the receptionist said he will
“Try” to get it. Never came back. As if I couldn’t pay for it. I asked for the restaurant hours they responded pointing at the restaurant and saying the hours are there and took off. I didn’t feel welcome at all. I paid almost 2k for 2 nights and I was expecting more from the staff.

Amomoxtly is an outstanding spa. We celebrated my wife's birthday and it was an awesome experience. The pool is great, we got some rain and being in the pool while it rains was great. The restaurant is one of the best I've even been. Next time I go to Mexico City, for sure I'll take the trip to Tepoztlan and stay in this place again.

Únicamente sugeriría que la carta de cenas fuera un poco más amplia o con platillos más típicos de la región.

Se encuentra bien ubicado con excelentes vistas a la montaña. El lugar muy limpio. El staff muy atento. La comida se nos hizo muy regular para los precios, todo un poco insipido. El cuarto que nos tocó la puerta no tiene manija ni aire acoindicionado y en la noche estaba caliente por todo el sol del día. El spa muy bien.

It is really pricey but the ambience, SPA and Restaurant are very good. Regularly it should deserve 5 stars but the issue with the sun beds in the swiming pool generates awkward situations: There are less sun beds than the hotel capacity, so if you go for a session in the spa and you had your stuff on a sun bed, as you return you will notice that somebody else is in that sun bed and your belongins garded by the hotel. That definetively it is not a 5 star hotel
