I’ve stated here before bits it’s been awhile. Too much noise! The employees carry walkie talkies and are heard everywhere all the time. We got a massage and the window was positioned out to the area where again nose and people talking loud. We ordered food and the plates were not picked up until after we got back from a wedding we went too and only because we went to complain. At breakfast another guest was smoking. No one said anything. We got up and left. The hotel is a treat, healthy mindful place and big enough for the smoker to go a smoke in a designated area. Overall the hotel has lost its punch.

The energy here feels almost palpable

I’m still basking in the glow of my incredible stay at Hostal de la Luz in Tepoztlán! This enchanting retreat is truly a haven of peace and tranquility, with an energy that feels almost palpable. Even though I arrived at 2am the night manager welcomed me with open arms and made me feel safe and taken care of. During the course of my stay all the staff were really friendly and accommodating despite the fact that I don’t speak very good Spanish.

The real highlight was the Renaissance Temazcal experience - it was transformative! The ceremony was led with such care and intention, and I felt deeply connected to the earth, my breath, and my own inner wisdom.

El lugar ya pasó por sus mejores años; fui huésped unos años atrás y hoy ha decaído totalmente, se nota en el mantenimiento, la atención y la cantidad de staff que tienen es limitado. Nuestra experiencia con el personal de recepción, spa y restaurante se resume en que están saturados y se les perciben cansados e indiferentes.

No tengo ninguna razón para regresar ni para recomendarlo.

WOW! This was a wonderful transformative retreat for my 33rd birthday. We had a real shaman in the Temazcal. 3 days and 3 nights of no cell service and no wifi. We left feeling reborn with new skin and new minds. Revitalized Souls. Thank you very much to the Mountains, the land, our Shaman Andres, the vibe and environment of the resort and OF COURSE last but not least, the two cats. we named them Milo (black cat) and Sissy (the white cat).

The temazcal is super over price. The price for 1 or 2 guest is súper expensive and more for the area, tepoztlan and amatlan is famous for temazcal and the service in the hotel is the same. The hotel should consider a more fair price so guests can schedule more than 1 temazcal during stay.

I love the whole concept of this place, the amenities and the service are always on point. But this was my second time coming, I noticed. A few things weren't the same from last yr. The room I chose was smaller, which still had a great view and comfort, but the bathroom seemed rundown and there were a couple stains on the bedding. The restaurant seemed to have less options in their menu. Other than that I look forward to coming back next year again.

This place could be amazing with a little bit more attention to detail. I really do LOVE the place and will be visiting again. The staff is friendly and the service is good. They could be slightly more organized with classes. Being an English speaker is a tad difficult here because not many of the staff members speak english. Not something to complain about, but with how difficult it is to get here for non Mexican residents I totally understand why they don't have many English speaking visitors. Can't wait to come back.

Peaceful setting to unwind

Awesome views from almost anyplace in the property! You can find all sort of spaces to relax, whether by the pool or in one of the many terraces. There are fountains and music to sooth you and many interesting walks in beautiful gardens. The SPA offers massages and wraps or you can join a Temazcal! Although there is only one restaurant it offered a variety of choices. We enjoyed that we could rest by the pool without being bother to buy drinks, but you could always get a person to take your order! We had a very relaxing couple of days!!

Beautiful property with great views of the mountains. Very relaxing atmosphere. The free breakfast was not impressive but food at the restaurant otherwise was very good and inexpensive. Beds were a little too firm for my liking but rooms were very nice. Two nice temazcals on the property but they charge way too much to use them so I didn't do it. Overall a great stay and I would come back. In fact one of the most relaxing days of my entire life was spent there.

The hotel is nice but is not what they sell. The hotel ia very far from Tepoztlan the town, so there is no option to eat anywhere else or see anything else that the same view all the time. I wanted to get the most of the installations but the water in the pools is not heated as the promised, it was frezzing. There is no internet or phone recpetion at all, only on the lobby, so you have to go all the way to the top to the lobby everytime you want to use your phone. And finally and the worse, they were doing some construction and renovations, so We were just there aitting trying to enjoy the view in the middle of the hammering and noisy construction. In summary, too pricy for what they offer, if they are going through construction at least warm me pr lower your rates ... I just know that there are better places at better rates around the area.

With intention and purpose we had a very profound experience here. This is a place you can 'turn off' and tune in. Or be bored out of your mind. We did not rent a car purposely, so as to be on 'retreat'. So we were on the premises for a week and found the respite we needed. There's not much to do outside the property (nerby), it's in the middle of nowhere and the village that may be within walking distance is truly local with only shops for essentials. This place is for those who are already drawn to mystical lifestyle and spiritual practices. It's perfect for anyone on a spiritual path. I highly suggest indulging in a Temezcal ceremony. I had a wonderful massage, and supplied my own pure essential oils and instructed the therapist how to work with me, which was a bonus and truly complete for my needs. My husband asked for a deep tissue/shiatsu massage and didn't find it near par with what we are used to experiencing. You must know Spanish in a way to truly feel at home. Most of the servers do not speak English, but the front desk does. You can not enter the Ashram unless the Shaman is there (and offers a group meditation). So this is a bummer to not be able to enter this sacred space to meditate on your own. Lots of things to discover on the property that you may overlook -- like the tiny cave-like room in which a single person can sit in damp darkness to meditate... I suppose, but it's right off the kitchen and you can hear clanging of dishes constantly. We will return.

Lovely 2 days at Hostal de la Luz. Room was large with private balcony with a view and a hammock. Food in the restaurant is delicious, make sure to try the fish or shrimp tacos for lunch. Expect dogs barking and roosters crowing at dawn, but then again, you are in the mountains of Mexico in a rural area. The staff is very friendly and helpful. All in all a very dreamy place. Maybe it was the shakra cleansing bath ( which turned out to be quite lovely not hokey as you might think, even for a skeptic like me) , or just the altitude, but I felt different when I left, more relaxed, and feeling I had managed to float through time for a few days, far away from the stresses of daily life.

This was an exceptional expereince !! The gorunds are fantasctic, the mountain backdrop incredible & the atmosphere incredibly relaxing !! I am difficult giving out 5's but i was hard pressed not too here. If i have any complait/suggestion at all it would be to offer more Yoga classes. That said, the Yoga class i attended was great. It also seemed to bridge the gap between expereinced people & myself !

The food was good & the help great.

This was a beautiful place to relax for a few days. The grounds and facilities are fairly extensive and lovey, and the surrounding area is just drop-dread gorgeous. And, depending on your beliefs, special: over yonder hill is the birthplace of Quetzalcoatl of Aztec legend, and right here and here are the points with the highest magnetic and vibrational energy in all Mexico, according to the book in the room. This would be a terrific spot to engage in some serious yoga and/or meditation. They do the vast majority of their business on weekends, and were nearly empty during our stay of three weekdays, hence the Expedia rates. This may appeal or turn off; we probably would've preferred a little more life, but then we weren't seriously focused on meditation etc.

Food was actually quite good - we're both into Mexican food and food generally, and felt we didn't need to drive 20 min into Tepoztlan to eat well. Massages (two different therapists) were just OK; you can certainly get an OK massage for considerably less expense in town, especially on the road leading toward Tepozteco. But temezcal was really special, as led by Andres.

Don't expect a lot of English, and be aware that the beds cannot be moved: if two (or more, I suppose) of you want to share a bed, you cannot take the cheapest room with two twins and expect to move them together,

Mi esposa sufrio un accidente pequeño con un vidrio en un tapete , considero in aceptable que los cuartos no esten al 100 cuando sucede un accidente que es normal pasa , lo que no debe pasar es qu eno se limpie bien .
Tambien 2 incidentes mas el escusado al llegar habia un charco por un problema de manteniemiento, y un perro del pueblo cercano ladro sin para de 4 a 5.30 Am
Dificl de controlar pero deberian tratar de hacer algo al respecto:
El precio del Hotel no corrresponde a la calidad esperada.

El hotel es bueno, lo malo es que hacen diferencia de quien reserva en Expedia y de quien lo hace directamente en el hotel. Es muy notorio en la asignación de habitaciones y en el acceso a servicios. En recepción se encargan de evidenciarlo. El trato de algunos meseros y del portero a los clientes es muy déspota y prepotente.

Acudimos con motivo de un evento y no logramos aprovechar al máximo las instalaciones. El personal es sumamente amable y educado. Olvidamos algo después de hacer check-out, llamamos y lo resguardarin hasta nuestro regreso.
Las pocas peticiones que tuvimos, fueron atendidas.
El hotel no es ideal para necesidades de accesibilidad. La relación calidad precio del restaurante no me pareció adecuada.
El hotel tiene una vista esoectacular e invita a la relajación. Definitivamente regresaría para arovechar las instalaciones.

He acudido varias veces y siento que le hace falta cuidar muchos detalles, los colchones de las camas de la alberca de piedra están sucios y muy usados, me faltaron unos aretes que puede que se hallan ido a la basura, por mi descuido y de quien limpia. El hecho de que no haya una zona específica para fumadores se me hace muy incongruente con lo que es el espacio. etc.

No es la primera vez que me hospedo y ahora si prefiero escribir la reseña.

La primera habitación que me dieron estaba muy descuidada, el escusado tapado? Las cortinas no servían bien, el estractor del baño sonaba muchísimo, la cama rechinaba al moverse, las lámparas no se pudieron apagar desde la cama.
Al día siguiente me cambiaron de habitación y no servían los focos de varias lámparas, me dejaron sin tapete y toalla de manos, me prometieron batas y nunca llegaron, el escusado no jalaba bien y nunca me llevaron lo que faltaba.

Por esta app avisé que iba en viaje de luna de miel y no hubo ninguna consideración para cambio de camas a una king size.

Las camas de la piscina de piedra están ya muy usada y no están cómodas.

Creo que están descuidando mucho su hotel y es una pena.

Todo bien con las Terapias equipo muy professional, las habitationes muy basics faltan detalles de calidad por el precio, el restaurante necesita mejor servicio y la varied as de la comida si estás 4 dias te butter los alimentos
