When we arrived the staff didn’t have our room reservations, then when they found it we did all the paper work and they told us the room wasn’t ready yet until 3:30 when we came back for the key they couldn’t find out paperwork again! When we finally got into the room - The room was disgusting, there was pubic hairs on the bed sheets, the shower was gross everything was so disgusting. I would never stay in this place again, they don’t have elevator our room smelled and didn’t have any windows it was a complete nightmare.

The room was beautiful that's about it. Everything else was not great. Starting for the fact we didnt have handsoap in the bathroom. Outside the shower it was a towel being used as a mat. They told us to enjoy ourselves in the hot tub which we fill out and of course it didnt work... so it felt like a waste of water and time. I also have to say the bathroom was gross the toilet bowl was nasty around not like someone poop once. Like it was never cleaned up so maybe it was good we couldnt use the tub.

The hotel was mediocre looks nice on line but it needs alot of detailing. They have a restaurant on the first floor is is very loud. On our last night they had a huge party and the noise was crazy till 1:30am something unacceptable. I call the front desk they just told me it was almost over. I will never stay there again .. very unprofessional.. and the worst part is they never apologized the next morning. the rooms need to be updated. They didn't even bother to help us with our luggage since the rooms are upstairs. Over all a poor time there ..

The hotel feels very dated and the rooms were not clean. The pictures are NOT an accurate depiction of what you'll get. There was hair on the ground and water stains in the bathtub/sink. Overall not clean. The hotel is on top of a bar so you'll hear music until very late at night - bass blaring. The only pro was the staff. They were super kind and accommodating hence 2/5 stars. Nonetheless, I would not come back.

We loved this property! Really I can't recommend this hotel more highly. While it was a little tricky to locate, it is worth the search. The staff, especially Israel were very kind, helpful and attentive. Each room has distinct artwork and personalized touches. Though the crystal chandeliers and bathtubs made my stay feel extra luxurious. The naughty cherib motif ran throughout the hotel and the views of the volcano from the roof were spectacular. We also enjoyed the roof top bar and deck. Finally, if you have the chance please frequent the restraunt downstairs for an unforgettablely scrumptious delight. Their soups really stood out made with seasonal ingredients and unforgettably delicious. We had such a pleasant stay we tacked on an extra two nights.

Would not recommend, rooms are dirty and outdated.

Would NOT recommend. This boutique hotel is in dire need of a refresh and a thorough cleaning. I truly do not know how they have such a high rating. My room had stained sheets, make up stained pillow sheet, the bathroom area was terrible. The toilet had rings indicating it hasn’t been cleaned in some time. The shower had hard water stains throughout. Not to mention it just looks and feels damp and dirty. The dim lighting hides a lot of imperfections but with a flashlight you can see how nasty the room was. I didn’t even feel comfortable enough to use the hot tub which was the selling point of this room. We slept on top of the sheets and used the towels as blankets. It was disappointing. The bench seat in front of the bed had debris, crumbs, and hairs in it indicating it had not been vacuumed in some time. The pictures really sell you on it but it was not a clean and fresh room. I don’t know if I got unlucky and got the oldest room but it was not pleasant. The only reason we did not leave was because when we got back to the room after the quick check in, it was late, raining, and dark, and didn’t want to deal with the process of leaving.

Mariana y Marco y Raymundo were EXCELLENT. The owners should be very proud of them - and likely should give them a raise. They are a golden team.

There was no Jacuzzi and overall the property has seen better days. The location is hard to beat. And the restaurant that’s downstairs in the courtyard is quite good.

I really enjoyed Quinta Esencia. It was walkable to Zocalo and all points of interest even a fantastic restaurant on premises. The only pitfall was a very loud and popular bar directly below the hotel…music goes from about 8pm-1:30am Thursday-Saturday. This hotel is not handicap accesible, it’s an older Casona gorgeous by the way. Other than that, was a nice stay.

Property had an interesting layout.. You had to walk through the middle of restaurant located on the first floor. Access to the rooms was available to everyone, you simply had to take the stairs towards the end of the restaurant. Room was great, I enjoyed the ambience and the overall aesthetics of the room.

Terrific location for Zocalo, Museo Amparo, Catedral. The hotel occupies the second and third floors, with a pretty nice restaurant in the entrance courtyard on ground level. Beds are comfortable, most rooms include a soaking tub. For me, negatives were no elevator (getting to the third floor involves a lot of steps), the bedrooms rooms did not have much natural light, and the noise from adjoining bar on weekends was very loud. Staff was very helpful. I stayed four nights, then moved to Luma B&B about a mile away, which I highly recommend for accommodations and its fine dining breakfast.

Staff was excellent and very accommodating. The lighting in the room extremely too dark. We had a window but it was fully covered by a dense tree. Zero visibility outside. The bathroom is oddly located 2 feet from the side of the bed so the others in the lofted queen bed felt it was not accessible to them. The room sleeps 5 but they only have one actual key for us.

Room was very nice, location was excellent for walking. Very courteous and helpful staff. Be aware that there are lots of steep stairs to climb to get to some rooms. Some coffee you have to pay for. Some rooms may not have windows. Plenty of food options not far away but restaurant in hotel and bar next door available. Very minimalist but in terms of location can't beat it. We had a very nice time.

Great location in the centre of town and the room is nicely decorated and quiet. There are no windows in the standard suite which made the room very dark. Most disappointingly, there was no hot water all afternoon and evening despite reception telling us to simply run the water - it actually got colder the longer we ran it. We ended up moving hotels for the next night so we could shower.

We were pretty disappointed by our stay at Quinta Essencia. The hot water didn’t work for the shower and came out as a slow dribble for the spa/jacuzzi. Also the air conditioning didn’t work.

The staff was lovely and the location is excellent. To be fair, we got back to our room late and left early in the morning so we thought it was pointless to reach out to the staff about hot water issues and non-functional AC. It did make for a sleepless night.

Pros: The rooftop has amazing views and the hotel is centrally located to a number of great museums and historical cites.
Cons: Rooms definitely need to be cleaner and perhaps updated - I didn't even use the tub in my room because it was filthy. The sheets and towels were also very worn. There was also very little room service (two nights the restaurant said they were too busy to accommodate room service), which is an amenity I expect to have at a \"4 star\" hotel. Overall, I think this hotel is more on par with a 2 or 3 star rating, not a 4 star \"luxury\" experience.

I loved the design and decor of the place. Superkitch but mostly ingreat taste. I was so excited to see the rooms had huge bathtubs with hydro massage which I'm not crazy about I just like the bathtubs. The staff was incredibly professional and helpful the room was so incredibly comfortable I slept great there. I think my only complaint would be that they charge for certain things most places give you for free, or just don't offer them, like bath salts or sewing kits, but on the upside I suppose it's an attempt at being ecological and not providing lots of things that you've plastic packaging.

Well located in the historic downtown. Walking distance to restaurant, shops and the main plaza/church. The downtown is well kept and colorful. Roof top tub/ terrace were a wonderful add on.

Calm and relaxing during my stay. Windows only faced inwards towards the stairs from what I can tell so may be a little dark in smaller rooms.

Staff was accommodating and the breakfast to room service was a great choice.

This is an amazing, comfortable, beautiful hotel. With many added benefits.. jacuzzi tub in the room, a stocked mini fridg, housecoats, and complimantary coffee and toast brought to you in the morning. On the roof a very comfortable hot tub that you reserve for your private use, an excersise room and a shower and restrooms. The common areas are decorated elegantly.
The staff is perfect, very accomadating and friendly professionally. The area is just what you want if you enjoy museums, resturants, churches and or shopping are all within am easy walking distance.

Lovely one nighter with my wife.

The hotel is overall very good. It's original decor and architecture make for a very interesting place. A couple of minor issues, though. The bathroom is in no way compared to the rest of the room, it seems cheap and badly made. A lack of maintenance is noticeable throughout the bathroom. Also, the hot tubs, an important selling point I imagine, lacks a bit of maintenance as well. Mold came out of the jets as soon as we turned them on. Other than that, service was amazing and very attentive to our needs and special requests and the setting and location of the property are unrivaled.

Room is modern with high ceiling and wood beams. Jacuzzi in bedroom is hard to use. Jacuzzi in rooftop sometimes water is hot. Don’t use the nespresso pods in the room - there are 45 peso per capsule. Clean overall but we found hair on the shower wall.

Beautiful historic hotel with lots of charm. High vaulted ceilings, Puebla tiled bathroom, comfortable bed and even a bathtub in the bedroom! No elevator, so be prepared to walk up stairs to get to your room. Friendly staff. Lovely restaurant downstairs. Safe area to walk the surrounding neighborhood.

Stayed at the double loft, it's a nice atmosphere and refined taste. Floors are hard wood so wonderful to go around barefeet. I was even surprised by the radiant floor on the bathroom, so warm and cozy when you walk out of the shower. Wife loved the tub and the fact it's a small hotel so not a lot of noise from other guests, great to keep the kids sleeping weel through the night.

This boutique hotel is very chic and elegant with all modern amenities but doesn’t feel stuffy at all. Our room had very tall cielings which made it feel very grand. However, the restroom was tiny and had a smell to it.
The location is great. It’s within walking distance to the main square (2 blocks) and a few blocks from Callejón del Sapo and Barrio del Artista. Museums are also within walking distance.

The hotel was built in an old kind of condominium. No doubt they invested a lot in design, though in my view some aspects are kitsch. Staff was very attentive. However, the room had no window (which is always kind of awkward) and there was some noise coming from: (i) some sort of engine, located above the ceiling of the room (I had to request that it was turned off and the staff accepted, but they turned it on again by midnight for a couple of hours or so), (ii) from the jacuzzi area (they were playing music by midnight even though there was nobody there), and also from (iii) the open hall where the reception is located.

Booming roof party until 2 am

My family and I booked the hotel (a suite) for 3 nights. On the first night, there was a raging party on the roof. Our room was on the top floor, just below the roof, and when I called to ask when the booming music and dancing would stop, I was told that the party was booked until 2 am. So, the first night was a complete loss sleep-wise.
We were upgraded on the second and third nights to a nicer suite, when the hotel was completely empty. Curiously, after I complained on the second morning to the front desk attendant, the manager never actually came over to speak with us to explain the situation or apologize.
I appreciate that we were upgraded, but they knew when they booked in the party that people on the top floor would not be able to sleep and they booked it anyway.
The location was excellent, very close to the Zocalo, easy 5 minute walk. The front desk staff were very helpful and did all they could to make our stay pleasant, management was non-existent.
The breakfast was good, but if you go off the very limited included menu, it is very expensive, especially for Puebla.
All of the rooms were on either the 2nd or 3rd floor. So, if you are out of shape or cannot climb stairs easily, this is not the hotel for you.
WiFi was very slow, when it worked.

Huge modern rooms in historic building

This newly and beautifully refurbished historic building has all the modern conveniences including a deep jet tub, nespresso machine, finger print-controlled safe and thick, thick matresses. Its walking distance, 3 blocks from the zocalo area with the cathedral and reforma. The staff speak English and are very helpful, attentive and friendly.

The only problems were the rooms were dark; I think the bulbs were less than 40Watts. Also, the internet access was choppy and very weak and slow. All this said, I would still stay here and recommend this property highly.

El tapón de la tina no servía, el agua caliente no estaba a la temperatura, a un costado del la habitación tienen habilitado un espacio para bar y el ruido y la fiesta terminó hasta las 2 pm, las sabanas presentaron desgastes, una de ellas estaba rasgada, la cerradura de la puerta , no servía el doble seguro.... estas son algunas. La decoración del hotel está increíble, la atención del personal es muy grata, son muy atentos, genial el rooftop , a pesar de que nuestra habitación estaba debajo del otro bar, pues no se escuchaba tan fuerte la música, se puede dormir bien agusto, solo el agua caliente no sale tan caliente , o si sale una vez caliente después ya sale tibia casi fría, pero en general , si me volvería a quedar unas cuantas veces más ahí.

¡Terrible experiencia! La habitación estaba muy sucia, hay una tina de baño a lado de la cama que evidentemente no había sido limpiada, la cama muy dura, el ambiente lúgubre, las habitaciones están alrededor de un patio interior que es un restaurante, por lo que hay ruido todo el tiempo, hay un sonido de motor o bomba que no deja descansar y además por la mañana cuando entré a la regadera tronó algo en la regadera y el agua empezó a salir hacia el techo, haciendo que toda el agua se empezara a salir hacia el resto del cuarto de baño y escurrir hacia la habitación. Cuando mi marrido fue a pedir ayuda no había personal en recepción que le atendiera, solo encontró un señor de mantenimiento que afortunadamente nos ayudó, quién después de arreglar la regadera tomó una toalla de piso para tratar de recoger el agua y sin darse cuenta evidenció lo sucio que se encontraba el baño, ya que la toalla quedó gris de mugre. Por supuesto que tomamos nuestras cosas y fuimos a hablar con el personal de recepción, le pedimos que nos cambiaran de habitación, quienes nos dijeron que como todas las habitaciones del ese mismo nivel estaban ocupadas, que después de hablar con gerencia, solo nos podrían cambiar a una superior si pagabamos la direfencia. Con lo que no estuvimos de acuerdo. Nos fuimos inmediatamente de ahí, pese a que aún nos quedaba una noche más en ese horrible lugar. ¡NO LO RECOMENDARÍA NI A MI PEOR ENEMIGO!

Esta muy bonito el hotel pero si eres una persona que le cuesta dormir . no lo recomiendo ya que en la parte inferiro hay un restauante, y dos pisos arriba unos bares. agradables y con una vista increible por cierto. el personal super amable y atento.
