This is a really sweet little hotel. with a lot of character and individually appointed rooms. It is extremely central, just a block or so away from the Zocalo but overall very peaceful and quiet.(there was some club music that was noticeable, but my room that was deep inside enough that it didn’t bother me). I didn’t not use the spa, but it looked nice. The restaurant was good, breakfast was great but coffee a little weak. The restaurant does not belong to the hotel and is paid separately. The only thing that was not great was the Wi-Fi. It was in and out at best, and nonexistent for most of my stay. I understand that colonial mansions’ thick walls can be problematic with Wi-Fi, but this seemed to be beyond that. Yet everything else, the kind staff as well, made up for that.

The price of the room does not reflect the value offered. The property appears dated and is not very well maintained. While the hotel overall is pleasant, the valet parking staff was not particularly courteous, and no assistance with luggage was offered upon arrival. Considering the rate, there are better accommodation options available in Cuernavaca.

The hotel was perfectly reasonable and our room (junior suite) was on the roof so was quiet for most of the stay. The stairs to the room were unlit and we couldn’t find the switch. We asked the staff on the first night to switch it on but it wasn’t switched on on the second night, so not ideal. We had to ask for our free drink and when it was given we weren’t allowed - it seemed - to drink it at the bar but instead had to have it in our room. The room itself was spacious and clean, with very good access to the local sights.

We really enjoyed our stay. Very clean and comfortable with modern amenities. The staff was very friendly and a lot of them spoke English. They also helped us with our Spanish! The spa was very relaxing and everything was very reasonably priced. Great internet in the common areas; just not in our room itself. The pool is small, but very clean and nice. Delicious food at the restaurant and at breakfast. Wonderful place!

A hidden gem

This is a hidden gem in Puebla. In the heart of Zocalo, the centre of Puebla history. We’ve stayed at El Sueño twice now and it has been our favourite place to stay. The rooms are comfortable, clean, the breakfast is warm and delicious. Service is impeccable! Everyone is so accommodating and willing to help and answer any questions or make suggestions. We love the history, architecture and comfort of the hotel.

The property is Beautiful. They used the original building from the 1400.
But sadly you have to call or schedule if you want to used the pool , the laundry service took 4 days and not 24 hours, parking is small and
the Communication between employees is not great. It took 18 e-mail and multiple phones call to set up a room for a event and I end up serving my guest do to only having one stuff in a event for 25 people.

If we go back will be just to appreciate the building

We had a delightful stay. The service from the front desk to the wait staff was outstanding and prompt. The hotel is very charming and quiet. As we stayed under covid rules, the sauna and the steam room were not open but the pool was. The pool is is small but just perfect for hotel such as this one. It was a great location for all the historical sites of Puebla.

When we checked in we found that the hotel had pre authorised the entire stay on our credit card ! We then paid for our stay but they didn’t use the pre authorisation but raised a new charge ? When we checked out they would not use the open authorisation to settle a small meal we had but again raised a new charge ? It ment that we had two charges on our card and the entire stay blocked off as well! I asked them to cancel the pre authorisation and they said they couldn’t ( which is nonsense ) , they then got very rude , ignored us and didn’t say thank you or goodbye . Our room was very good , the breakfast is fine and the building is lovely . Be careful when you lock your door , we had another guest walk into our room twice at 7am and then 8.30 apparently thinking it was an exit ( when we complained to the front desk the guy said no problem ? We said it was a problem because my wife was undressed at the time ! ) the communication at this hotel is terrible !

This must be a hidden gem. The room was large, comfortable, clean and had great character. We stayed in the “Alfonsina” room.

Exceptional service from the moment we dropped our car-off to the valet, check-in was simple and housekeeping and restaurant staff were very friendly, professional and accommodating.

The hotel is a couple of blocks near the town centre, convenient and within walking distance.

We definitely are booking at this hotel again and will try another room as they said, each room has their unique character.

We loved El Sueño! Prior to check-in, Nayeli was so helpful with arranging spa appointments for us and helping with general questions. At check-in, she greeted us and remembered our conversations from months earlier.
From the exterior, the hotel is pretty non-descript, but is nicely situated a couple of blocks from the Catedral de Puebla and the Zócalo. Upon entering, the interior is very comfortably artistic. The rooms are located in a renovated colonial-period property. The room was nicely styled and very comfortable.
As mentioned, we had spa appointments. The massage we received was outstanding, and we would have requested another if we had the time.
The staff at the hotel were all super accommodating, going so far as to help order pizza for a late dinner (Thanks Juan!!). Additionally, breakfast was served with a smile and was delicious!
We were only in Puebla for one night, but wished that we had the time to stay an extra few days. When we come back, we will absolutely be staying at El Sueño!

The hotel grounds and facilities were definitely charming, but it was a very hands off type of hospitality. We had to go hunting for someone if we needed to order drinks, food or get some help. We also did not get the VIP benefits Hotels.com advertised for this hotel.
It was a pleasant stay, but I don’t believe it warrants 4 stars or was worth the price paid.

El Sueno es magnifico - areas comunes y recamaras muy bonitos y acogedoras, ubicacion perfecta, y los servicios del spa fueron convenientes y ayudadores despues de los dias largos caminando. El sueno is truly a dream - full of beautiful plants, skylights, fountains, and cool breezes, it is a calming, quiet oasis nestled inside a busy part of town (the center). Great location, service, rooms, food options - everything is gorgeous and delicious. The massage packages are delightful too - I did reflexology (foot massage and nerve work), hot stones, and head massage. They also have a jacuzzi, pool, heated wigwam, and everything else you need to be at peace after a day of walking around this booming area and seeing the sights. Highly recommended!

Puebla Earthquake during our tourist visit\n

This is the most amazing jewel hidden in downtown historic Puebla. The room was cozy and very private,
Staff was very cordial and friendly. They made us feel welcomed despite the catastrophic circumstances of an earthquake, the food is a plus. We preferred staying in the hotel and eat dinner under a cozy intimate setting.
Breakfast was superb with a cornucopia of culinary delight. The coffee is freshly brewed every morning.
El Sueno is perfect for the visitor who wants to step back into old Mexico in modern comforts and privacy. It is conveniently located a few blocks from zocalo and the main church.
El Sueno is a boutique hotel to pamper the traveler that prefers a unique and intimate experience instead of staying at a chain brand hotel.
It is a memorable experience!

This location is great - just a couple of blocks from the main square. The room was very large, with lots of architectural interest. One drawback was the lack of an exterior window in the room, but there was a skylight that let in a little bit of sun. When we were there (late January), it got cold at night, and there was no heat in the room, but when we asked, we were given a space heater which solved the problem. The lobbies and common areas are beautiful, and there is a rooftop deck, which is great when the sun is out, and provides some nice views.

Hotel is conveniently located to zocalo and most interesting places to visit in Puebla. At the sacrifice of room size (at least our room), there is much too much space devoted to the patio (covered), restaurant/bar, eating areas, spa, small swimming pool and rooftop. The dozen or so rooms are dark and, if located to close to the front desk or beginning of the covered patio, noise is the order of the day. The staff, however, is courteous and helpful and the location is right. Just ask for a room away from the beginning of the indoor patio and the front desk.

Low Key Elegance

We didn't know what to expect so we were pleasantly surprised by how lovely El Sueno was. It was a small hotel but did not feel claustrophobic. We loved having the Jacuzzi and the steam room on the same floor as our room. And the staff was genuinely friendly. We would stay here again were we to revisit Puebla.
