Very clean room and bathroom/showers were lovely. Cleaning staff were prompt and friendly. Restaurant and concierge staff were very friendly and the food at the Mereva restaurant was above average.

Especially loved the fish and shrimp tacos. Pizza was great too.

We paid extra to have a private pool, but the water looked dirty so we didn't get in. Also we couldn't get in the beach how how bad the sea wheed was. The smell was unbearable and they wouldn't clean it. It really was a waste of money. Food and drinks in yhe restaurants SUPER EXPENSIVE and not worth it. Transportation extremely expensive, the wanted to charge us 1000 pesos each time we tried to go out to yhe city. Will NEVER go back to Tulum

Beach front property has great views.

Service at Mereva was excellent, from Lalo at the front, to the restaurant’s food, the drinks, servers, and local spa service. On a day without smelly sargassum, the pier massage was so nice. They treated us well and we almost wanted to stay longer.

I recommend swimming in the pools or at the cenote across the road. There’s a crocodile resident; everyone assures he has never attacked humans and only eats birds. His name is Panchito, I didn’t see him.
The water is clear, and you can bring or rent snorkel gear. Many scuba here as well, tiny fish. If Panchito is a deal breaker, the region has thousands of other sacred cenotes for swimming. Have a car, transport is exp.

Tulum’s coast is being affected by sargassum. The staff seemed overwhelmed by it as the manual clean up crew made a tiny dent each morning.

I wish the rooms were more sound proof. We only had hot water one day.

Also, the pier and beach area didn’t feel private. We couldn’t relax or keep our eyes closed with random non hotel guests coming and going through the small pier, past the hotel beach, and past our room’s sliding door. Unfriendly foreigners come and went every day for scuba tours.

The hammocks: 1 per room patio. Those shown on the beach weren’t there. Several at the pier were cool, but a female French instructor likes changing out of scuba gear there and seems more annoyed with us in her way there than concerned about hitting me while trying to relax.

Beautiful location and very pleasant staff. Unfortunately our room did not have air conditioning - and they would fix it and fill it up with coolant, and then it would leak and then by the middle of the night it was a torture chamber of heat and humidity (78 degrees f). There is no where else to cool off in the hotel - everything is open air and honestly the pools were filthy like someone else said in the reviews. Outside there are nosee’ems. When we finally had enough at 3am on the 4th night, they did put us in another room for a few hours after Google Translate, staff visits/photos and chats with the manager. So we only had 2 hours in a cool room before our excursion for the day and very little sleep.

I had to insist on moving rooms before leaving on our excursion, which was added stress. They did move us to the Nerea which was a much nicer hotel and better cared for by far. However the new room had no tv, the futon was a bit banged up, and a broken window looking into the construction. At this point we did not complain.

They offered us dinner to make up for this but when inquiring on it before our last evening there, they weren’t aware of it but were willing to uphold it.

The most upsetting part was realizing the ac issue and room flooding, wasn’t new. They just tried to pass this crappy and unworkable room onto us. My friends staying (from our recommendation) in the same hotel, room below and said there was water damage and signs of mold on the same wall.

The rooftop patio room we got was amazing, eating breakfast up there every day watching the sunrise over the ocean was the best I’ve had out of anywhere I’ve gone down south. And then me and my girlfriend would set up an iPad to watch Netflix on the rooftop while we drink wine and ate cheese watching the sun go down over the ocean.

This hotel was a beautiful, quiet oasis. The staff was wonderful, our bed was super comfortable and it felt more like a private condo than a hotel. If the big, all-inclusive hotels are too touristy for you, this could be a great choice.

We felt very safe here, the hotel is on a private road with a guard shack so limited traffic and easy to walk along daily. There's a beautiful cenote just a few minutes walk away. Keep in mind, being outside the main hotel zone food options are limited to a few hotels unless you have a car to drive into town or to the hotel zone - so we recommend renting a car or scooter. We would also highly recommend finding the Mexican cooking from scratch class in a private Tulum home - it was a great experience.

The rooms were very spacious and comfortable- it was tough at times to contact the resort via hotels.com, so when I switched to direct communication it was better. The restaurant was good, and the spa was on their nearby sister property that was amazing. It would have been nice to get details on the neighborhood Cenote before visiting to be prepared.

We didn’t get to swim as the beach was rocky and it was windy. The hotel shouldn’t be advertised as boutique luxury- they tried but it’s moldy, dirty and half of the time we didn’t get our room cleaned or had to ask to towels if we were gone the whole day- nobody would come in. They are low on staff- there were days when no chef at the restaurant and no food items available. The area outside is dirty and unpaved. If we had to go anywhere it cost us $35 one way. It is a rip off on all levels. We went to Nerea the beinorinv property to have lunches and hang out at their pools as our pool was super dirty- god knows when was the last time they cleaned it.

They did not want toilet paper to be flushed. The mini fridge was tiny and did not work. The pools were too dirty to use. The restaurant was adequate and catered mostly to non local dishes.
On the other hand the staff were very nice and the beach view was beautiful.

Absolutely awful. I asked for a partial refund and was denied - so I'm leaving this review to warn others. I paid for THE nicest room (5 star hotel prices) and our room had mold, bugs, cracks in the wall and tattered towels. I wish they would have been kind and just given me a discount but perhaps this review will save someone else an awful stay. Go spend your hard earned dollars somewhere else.

We were moved to Nerea (Mereva's sister hotel) down the block before our arrival due to the abundance of seaweed in the water. It wasn't much better at Nerea but we still swam and took advantage of the outdoor lounges/hammocks.
The best thing about our experience was the staff. They were all very kind and professional. If I recommended this hotel for anything, it would be the staff. Phillipe, the spa masseur, was also amazing. He gave my friend and I the best massages we've ever had.
However, the hotel itself was limited. The dining options were very limited and it often ran out of food (fish for fish tacos, bread at breakfast, etc.) We booked Mereva due to the description of the restaurant and its menu and unfortunately didn't have an experience anywhere near what we were expecting.
The hotel is pretty remote if you don't have a car, so the absence of food was pretty unfortunate. We ended up having to rent a car so we could head out of the area for dinner.

The Mereva was closed and had to change to the Nerea Hotel. It was much nicer because it was actually open. I had rented a room for 6 nights for two adults and one child and the rooms were all for couples only. They added a sofa bed, and it worked but no privacy. The restaurant was not fully stocked, the workers tried their best with what they have, but it’s not fare for them and the customers. Extremely expensive food, and location not easily accessible if you don’t have a car good luck. The workers at the Nerea try the best to provide you with a good experience but with out the right tools it fails.

Espectacular lugar, “instagrameable” en cada rincón. Muy cómodo y con una ubicación envidiable. Lo único negativo fue el exceso de sargasso que aunque es un fenómeno natural y no es culpa del hotel, si podrían limpiar un poco, como lo hace el hotel vecino. El personal muy amable pero la comida definitivamente puede mejorar y el menú muy limitado.

The property is located outside the city center so you will always need a taxi or a rental vehicle. The street that leads from the main road to the hotel is unpaved. Otherwise, the property is lush and pretty, quiet and secure. The staff is friendly although a bit slow. The food is pretty good.

I would highly advise against going in July. The mosquitos are a nightmare and so is the sargassum problem. This is out of the control of the hotel, so not using it for my rating. Only to advise future travelers.

My girlfriend (friend/colleague/travel buddy) and I stayed at Hotel Mereva during the off-season and absolutely loved it. The hospitality was next level—Erik and Dalia at the front desk were always kind, helpful, and made getting around super easy. The staff, including Felipe, Aaron, Luis, Santos, and Gabriel, were so genuine and warm—it felt like being among friends.

The food was unreal. Shrimp tacos, forest pizza, and the heirloom tomato with burrata were top tier. Happy hour had the best 2-for-1 margaritas of the trip. We did the breakfast package too—great options and a perfect start to each day.

The property itself is peaceful and beautifully maintained. Two pools, hammocks on the dock, ocean nets to lounge on, plus a plunge pool in our room. Everything worked well—AC, water, all of it. Housekeeping was thoughtful with creative towel animals left daily.

We wished we had two more days just to slow down, explore the small nearby town, and take advantage of the kayaks, paddle boards, and bikes included in the stay.

Taxis are pricey, but the collectivo bus is easy and cheap if you’re up for a little adventure. Even with off-season rain, it never took away from the experience. Highly recommend for anyone wanting great service, good food, and total relaxation.

If you like quiet, this is the perfect place. Staff was amazing. Our room was always cleaned up. Our experience was the best, I can actually say I rested. Minutes away from cenotes Casa Tortuga the ruins and not to mention a Cenote literally in front of the hotel. Highly recommend.

Tucked away on a beach between Playa del Carmen and Tulum - this is a lovely spot to get away. Very well staffed, nice restaurant and lovely setting on the beach. We went in the \"off season\" but still had a lovely time. The best times to go are Nov -April - if you go outside of this time the beaches may have seaweed instead of sand - this is very normal for ALL beaches in Yucatan Peninsula. The restaurant is perfectly lovely with excellent CHEFS - open for breakfast, lunch and dinner even LATE. Two pools, plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas as well as a pier to sit on all day if you like. I would stay again.

DO NOT GO HERE! Sadly, the seaweed makes it impossible to have a good beach holiday. Can’t go into the sea from the beach. Can’t sit on the beach due to the dreadful smell of the seaweed. Can’t sit on terrace, open room doors or use plunge pool. Other hotels use machinery to remove it. Here is just piles up. Really sad

We love Mereva, this was our second stay here and it was just as special as the first.

Tankah bay is so nice. Away from the hipster Cabo-vibes of loud beach area Tulum but also right on the beach in a quiet bay. Yet only about a 10 minute drive into Tulum (downtown) to get food, etc. We always rent a car. (Free and easy, shady parking too.)

Mereva feels very safe which is nice. It’s gate and security guard protected as well as locked up every night.

The service at Mereva is always wonderful. The food is good and the fact that they provide breakfast (a beautiful 3-course meal you get to choose from options) is such a great value! It’s enough food to eat all day and then only have to dine out once per day - that’s what my kids and I do. They are incredibly accommodating and also have a great supply of gear for rent (kayaks, snorkels, etc.)

It’s so stunningly beautiful as well both inside the rooms and all the grounds. We love it here!

I spent a week with my daughter who is 15 years old. Critical things like dining options, quality of the beds, quality of the air conditioning, cleanliness and attention to the customer are top notch 10/10.

All staff are great, In particular, Mr Aaron and Mr Norberto in the restaurant and bar of Mereva are the very best top notch superb---!!!

the only thing I did not like which is not MEREVAs fault, is that the snorkeling in the hotel beach is not the best, and the beach itself has a lot of rocks in it and does not have big waves which my daughter and I enjoyed very much. That being said, there is a beautiful Cenote where you can snorkel and scuba dive at walking distance from the hotel, and1 can take a taxi and go many places that are not far away from MEREVA.

My husband and I just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary at Mereva. It was absolutely incredible! We stayed March 1st-March 8th. The property was simply gorgeous, very relaxing and complete perfection. The restaurant was delicious, we enjoyed all of our meals. Norberto and Erik were our favorite waiters, very personable and friendly. The property is very quiet, it’s exactly what we were looking for in a vacation. We had a wonderful experience fishing with Kiki and his mates. We caught and released a beautiful 90 lb sailfish. We also caught a large mahi and a Spanish grouper which the chef at the resort prepared and cooked for us. It was absolutely delicious! On our last full day we booked a couples massage right on the dock and it was the best hour of my life! This resort is a 10/10 if you are looking for a very laid back, super chill, peaceful vacay. If you’re looking for a party scene with loud music and late nights, this is not the resort for you. We can’t not wait to return!!! My husband and I both agree this was hands down our favorite destination spot!!!

I read through many of the very good reviews in general but that was not our experience. Family reunion booked 6-9 months ahead of time. A group of 13 probably dropping in excess of $12K over 5 nights. Its a beach hotel so unless you have a car its a challenge and a decent expense to go to the closest town of Tulum. No ATM although they will exchange at the front desk for an unfavorable rate. The dock that was on the beach had a very dangerous thin rope stretching across the two posts of a massage gazebo creating a risk of tripping and being injured. The entry stairs to the water had treacherous algae on the lower two steps and exposed metal from rotted wood.One of the two side rails was loose and not secure.One of the kayaks that was used took on water as the fiberglass was significantly cracked and the family members ended up swimming it back from the reef which was a considerable distance. I have never spent this much on a hotel room(one bed and a toilet that does not allow toilet paper to be flushed)...$600/nite including taxes. .The dirt oad that leads from the main highway is severely in need of repair due to local hydrology issues I was told. The section in front of the hotel is usually filled with puddles, some of large size so transit is not trivial. During our 5 night stay there were several food items that became unavailable for several reasons.So, bottom line its a mediocre to occasionally poor hotel with severely overpriced rooms between xmas and new years.

I was in Tulum alone for a few days as I needed to catch a later flight than my friends. This hotel was exactly what I was looking for. Clean and comfortable room that was pleasantly decorated and a great view of the sea. They even provide paddle boards and canoes. I felt very safe and the WiFi was great for me to get work done. The staff were so so wonderful. The only reason four and not five stars is because the food was just ok - definitely not bad. I did come during low season though.

This hotel is a gem amongst the many types of accommodations along the coast. It’s close enough to the main drag of Tulum proper that the drive is doable multiple times a day but is far enough away that you don’t hear or deal with any of the commotion of Tulum.

The highlights for us were:
- the pier and private beachfront- this part of the bay/ cove had the most fish activity and the pelicans would land on the pier multiple times a days, along with many other types of sea birds
- the snorkel gear- you can borrow snorkel gear to take with you to the cenotes so you won’t have to rent gear
- there were 2 kayaks which we used to to take out as much as possible to sea the coral reefs
- the complimentary breakfast was an asset, the hotel is far enough away that you won’t want to get up and drive into town each morning- we lived on the fruit bowls, fresh juices and huevos rancheros.

The property/ rooms and pools are very well maintained and the staff were really lovely and very helpful.

We’ve been down to the Tulum area before and would highly recommend Mereva for a quiet and relaxing hotel stay. We don’t have kids but think this place is great for kids. The amount of wildlife (fish/ birds) to interact with there would keep any kid very busy.

I heard the road to the hotel was bumpy. It was more like a bad goat path x 10. When I arrived there was no power, maybe because of the hurricane. The refrigerator didn’t work. The pools were filthy. The staff was non attentive except the the guy at the reception desk. No hot water. The pier was in bad shape, no maintenance done. Boards missing and some partially damaged. The broken boards were weathered. Hasn’t been painted recently, not from the hurricane. The room itself was ok. The bed was comfortable.

The property is absolutely beautiful right on the beach where you can see beautiful blue waters. I must say the rooms are very comfortable, the bed and pillows were perfect.
The food wasn’t the best and a bit overpriced for the portions, prices are higher than miami in the restaurant even the water is almost $10 dollars which is outrageous considering my husband and I travel a lot to other countries in the Caribbean.
The customer service was great and the staff was super friendly and accommodating.
The road to get to the hotel is full of holes which it can take up to 20 minutes from the highway to the hotel. Overall it was a nice and beautiful peaceful views.

This absolutely the best, amazing place. Food is great, staff are extremely kind and ocean is heavenly. The only reason I left 3 stars for this is that you have to drive a very long unpaved road. We saw one car bumped their bottom of the car really badly. It seems its not a very big deal to local people but it was a learning curve for us. But other than that, nothing could be more perfect.

Te facilitan zapatillas acuáticas para entrar al mar o a que es un poco rocoso, tienen kayac y tableros para remar los solicitas en la recepción sin costo alguno.

Los desayunos están muy buenos y bien servidos

Los meseros en especial muy atentos y amigables!

Cons.: para llegar al hotel hay que transitar una calle empedrada en malas condiciones debido a los últimas tormentas que han azotado la zona además de eso como toda región en apogeo económico hay muchas zonas/ edificios en construcción en los alrededores del hotel.

No tuvimos ningún problema en nuestra estancia la cual fue del 27 junio al 2 de julio 2024

Regresamos de nuevo sin pensarlo !

The hotel has great views, but it is poorly maintained. We had no electricity for 2 nights. The staff lied about that they are fixing the problem, but it was never resolved. Without electricity, there was no AC at night, making it impossible to sleep and ruining our entire day and vacation. If you want to suffer during your vacation and spend your money on sleeping without AC or electricity, this is the place to go.

Hotel Mereva was beyond amazing. Our room was steps from the sea and beach loungers. We had access to two amazing pools and a cenote across the street. Food and drinks were a 10 out of 10. The service and staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. King size comfy bed with cold AC. We can't wait to go back.

Beautiful secluded property with amazing food and amenities. Most of the staff was extremely kind and attentive. I have two downsizes however that stopped me from giving 5 stars. The power went in and out and we had no A/C 2 out of 3 nights stay and even though it wasn't the resorts fault I think they could have offered something for inconvenience of having two nights of uncomfortable sleep (ie partial room refund, free menu item etc). Also some of the dinner staff just stays on their phones constantly without paying attention and then reminding you after bad service that tips are not included, it comes off way too aggressive like your being coerced to tip for every little thing. Everything else was great!! The massage was amazing on the dock and the cleaning lady was such a sweet woman as well as concierge and many of the waiters.

Awesome stay, will come back!

If looking for a small and quiet hotel, this is it!
Everyone at Mereva is on a mission to make your stay wonderful. From the moment you set foot in this Hotel you will get the best service! Aaron, Oscar, Eric and Jose Luis treated us to the best restaurant experience. Food is made from scratch and is delicious. Our Housekeeping Lady {did not get her name} did a great job keeping our room fresh and clean. She was always very nice as well.
The Hotel is 20 years old, there are 25 rooms that are very spacious with huge bathrooms with double sinks and showers!
Most rooms have balconies with ocean views, but we choose something more retreated and private. We had a pool just a few steps from our room and had a private porch where we sat in the evenings to enjoy the sounds and smells of the ocean with a pleasant breeze.
There are a few things you need to know, not to deter you but to make you aware.
This privileged location is about 1hour from the Tulum International airport and 15 minutes from downtown Tulum. Taxis are VERY expensive, so if it is an option, rent a car! If you want to visit the Cenotes, downtown or go to other beaches, you need some sort of transportation. There is really nothing nearby except a small convenient store and two other restaurants in their two sister Hotels.
This area has no white sandy beaches like Cancun, they are very rocky but still beautiful. Water shoes are a must to enjoy swimming in the ocean. There is a Cenote across the street from hotel.

I really enjoyed the entire property, beach view, common space is very beautiful. Exactly like the pictures. It was very quiet and the staff was super friendly. I will say that you need a taxi or car to get to most places and the taxis are expensive. But I felt better being driven then driving around in a car in a country I didn’t know and where parking was difficult to find. Plan your activities accordingly. Food was actually pretty good. I will be sure to visit again.

My family just returned from a week-long vacation at the Mereva and it was absolutely fabulous. The staff were super friendly, attentive and incredibly helpful. The included breakfast was heavenly and generous — from the lattes to the fruit bowls to the myriad ways to order your eggs. The property itself offers a beautiful, secluded boutique resort experience — exactly we wanted. The beds were comfortable, the view from our room was spectacular. I can’t recommend this place enough. The restaurant at the Mereva’s sister property Alea might just be my new favorite place to eat in the world.

Fantastic stay at Mereva!

Our stay at Mereva was amazing. Everything from check-in to check-out exceeded expectations. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and by the end of our trip, they felt like family. Our room was fantastic with perfect ocean view and very clean. Our fridge was stocked with water bottles every day which was super helpful in keeping us hydrated from our activities whether lounging in their two pools, to swimming in the ocean, to our excursions to the Tulum Ruins and Chichen Itza.

I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend Mereva as a must stay when visiting Tulum.

Staff was super helpful and nice. Food on the property was very tasty. The property had pretty good amenities too. It was nice that they had two sister properties nearby to explore. We had a few issues with our room (AC broke) but the service team was quick to respond. Biggest downside was the proximity to town and the beach zone. Taxis to these areas were expensive and something we didn’t expect.

We have stayed at Mereva twice now. Once in 2019 and once now in 2023. It is a great hotel and staff is always friendly and helpful, the included breakfast is great, but since 2019 the prices of cocktails and dinners have gone up greatly. Everything was great but now quite worth the price in my mind.

Did a lot of research before booking Mereva. For the price I couldn’t find another spot that was as nice. Everything about our stay was perfect, and I consider myself picky. We booked a king beachfront and originally I asked for ground level to walk our to the beach but we ended up with third floor and I’m very grateful we did. In the morning we woke up to the sun rising over the ocean and palm trees blowing in the wind. Our room was stocked with a mini nespresso, water, a few beer and pop every day. Our room was very well decorated, clean, the bed was extremely comfortable. The shower was so nice. Beachfront is a bit noisy because of the wind (if you don’t like wind don’t go to Mexico its always windy but it keeps the heat manageable). The property is extremely well kept. Beach is small but they all are now with the seaweed issue. Location is perfect if you want quiet, hotel zone is full of beach merchandisers, partying, this location is quiet private. Service is top notch. Id recommend the hotel transfer with Tucan Kin. If you’re looking for clear water and white sandy beaches Mexico is not your spot right now - seaweed is a serious issue there and this resort made a effort to clear it daily but it’s impossible. Id recommend checking out Nerea down the street for food so good and beautiful spot. Thats where I would book next time (adults only). This place was wonderful. The staff made it Amazing. Oscar at the bar, Luis Miguel and Iris were a staple in our relaxing & comfortable stay. I would return just because of them. We were blown away by both the setting and the service at Mereva! We traveled with our three girls (10, 8 and 6) and had the most wonderful sta. The hotel itself is stunning - big healthy palm trees (with an abundance of coconuts!), two pristine swimming pools, lovely sitting areas, and of course, the gorgeous beach. The rooms were clean and spacious and ours even had a plunge pool on the porch, which our kids loved in the evening. Beyond the appearance and cleanliness, though, we felt so cared for by the incredibly friendly staff. Shout out to our favorite waiters, Jose Luiz, Oscar, Aaron, Dinicioco, and Miguel. They felt like family by the end of our stay! Abigail and Angeles at the front desk could not have been more helpful. They booked our car, wrote post-it notes with all the places we should visit, ordered us extra blankets, gave us towels/snorkel gear/etc when we headed out on adventures, and even just walked by and checked on us as we played at the beach. Truly could not speak more highly of the experience at Mereva and will be back again soon!

We enjoyed our beautiful Junior Beach front suite room views, the food, the friendly services of the front desk staff, the food service/bar staff and our housekeeper.. All staff always greeted us with a smile and were excited to assist with any needs we had. Location is great for rest and relaxation with a Cenote across the street to snorkel, swim or scuba dive.
10 minutes from Mayan Ruins and 20 minutes from tourists most visited area of Tulum. 45 minutes from Playa del Carmen..
We will definitely visit Hotel again soon.😊

This secret botanical beauty will forever be apart of my wonderful Tulum experience. The front desk staff, especially Dahlia took extra care to call around places we wanted to visit to check times and fees. It was truly superb service all around. The mixed drinks were perfectly balanced. All staff maintained a joyful easy spirit that couldn’t come from anywhere but the hand of God. Wow! The place was perfectly placed between the busy downtown nightlife and the luxuries of Cancun. There are Mayan ruins just 10 miles away and a Cenotes in the neighborhood.

Mereva is an amazng botique hotel. The property is beautiful, the food is good and the rooms are nice with comfortable beds. The staff is great from the front desk to the kitchen and cleaning staff. It's a 20min drive to the hotel district and the beach clubs which we liked as it's a quiet, guarded location separated from the loudness of the hotel district and felt nice to come back to after a day at the beach. Would definitely stay here again.

At half the price I’d have no complaints but they charge for luxury and this isn’t that.

Check-in was a mess.

They billed us for a king and queen bed but the queen was a pullout on the floor that was right on the floor and, when open, takes up the whole room. The AC blows directly on that bed so sleepers on the floor are cold if the room is set cool enough for everyone else not to be hot. (Again, all of this would be ok at a Marriott.)

The restaurant is expensive, especially the drinks but the service is a mess. Food arrives haphazardly and the first night my wife’s order simply didn’t show and our waiter disappeared for so long she just gave up. The next day for breakfast we were served stale bread/ pastries and lukewarm coffee.

When I spoke to the manager he reluctantly agreed to wave our fee for dinner though upon checking out that charge was still on my bill.

The area is remote (again, a bonus of the food is decent) so we didn’t have many options. The food was marginally better the rest of the week but service continued to be a problem (the next day at lunch the menu was not what was on the online menu so we all changed our orders last minute; the waiter carefully took everyone’s order but walked away without taking mine…). At dinner we tried room service and they were inexplicably out of pasta, the food arrive very late and our server left w/ a way for us to open our bottles.

Again, all understandable if not at a very expensive rate.

Nice Hotel - Poor Customer Service

The Hotel is Lovely. Nice view, nice beach, the bedroom was comfortable with lovely views of the beachfront. The food was good, particularly the pizzas, the drinks however are expensive.

We paid a premium for the hotel, I Imagine as it was close to New Years. Unfortunately the service on many occasions didn't match the premium paid.

On two of our three days we had to ask for our rooms to be cleaned which should be a normal in a hotel. We were advised that the delay was due to a lack of staff.

Service in the restaurant can be variable. Sometimes quick, and attentive but quite often it seems they are understaffed, a few times we had to remind them to bring our drinks we had ordered. On one occasion they had lost our order (we were the only ones sat in the restaurant at the time so not sure how this was possible.)

On the last day we had an early check out as we needed to catch our flight. We were at breakfast for 7am (when it opens) with our transfer due at 7.30. The kitchen was shut and no staff were present, they eventually arrived at 7.20 and advised a breakfast wouldn't be possible. They did however prepared a breakfast croissant for us to take with us which was kind.

Unfortunately the staff had duplicated a taxi booking, we had already booked a transfer through the hotel. This meant when the taxi arrived we naturally assumed it was our transfer, only 15 minutes into the journey were we called to be made aware that the transfer was at the hotel and that a taxi had been

Beautiful property. A bit pricey but was happy to be away from the tourist crowds. Can’t beat the gorgeous view of the Caribbean Sea. Small beach but we felt like we had the place to ourselves. 10-12 minutes away from Xel-Ha, which the kids had a blast. Gorgeous cenote across the street from the hotel. Breakfast was included every day. Food & cocktails were excellent. Kayaks, life vests, snorkel gear are free. It’s a boutique hotel, eco friendly, so do not expect things u may get from a big resort. Staff were very friendly. We had rain the first couple of days, but even with the clouds, the ocean front view was gorgeous.

Totally unfriendly manager! They charged $USD600 extra more for our kids, compared with our friends who had even older kids, booked exactly the same room for exactly the same dates during the same week through Bookings.com rather than Expedia (it is pay at the hotel system and does not matter where you book). They refused to help at the hotel and the manager was extremely rude, not personal at all. Property had huge safety issues (slippery grounds and stairs when it rains, stairs not visible in the pool), and the manager acts like these issues do not exist despite serious accidents (that end up in hospitals) happening... There is street dog walking around who scratched my daughter's arm and the manager did not even visit us. There are big rocks in the very shallow ocean in front of the dock and there is even no warning on that. The manager only cares about how he can charge you more but nothing else including safety issues... The staff who were serving food in the mornings were nice but I felt so bad for them as they were only three people and working like crazy to serve everyone!

The staff were so friendly. It has more pools than the other hotels.

It also feels more private than the party zone areas. If you're looking for serene and relaxing this is the hotel.

The location was beautiful and the room was clean. The have great breakfast options and a nice bar included in the room. The staff is great and very helpful. This property was everything the reviews said and more. From the moment we walked in and were greeted by Luis, we immediately felt welcomed and at ease. The room was beautiful and clean. All of the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I had the best lobster I’ve ever had at the hotel restaurant. We also got an amazing couples massage. Highly recommend taking the paddle boards out and seeing the sunset. We saw stingrays and tons of fish by the reef which was straight out from the dock. This hotel was absolutely beautiful, relaxing and low-key and nothing but good vibes. Stay here, you won’t be disappointed!

Rooms — day 1 we got room with a beatiful view but we had several hiccups.

- We didnt have hot water in the shower. We got to the front desk and it took about 1h to finally get warm water.
- The fan was also making noise and was shaky. They came to repair it.
- The air conditionning wasn’t strong enough for the room and its light was so bright that we could see in the room during the night because of it.
- The TV needed a software update and we didn’t have the remote control to do it so we had to call front desk again. They came and updated the TV.

Day 2 we had a problem with the safety box, the batteries were dead so we couldn’t open it. Took about an hour to repair it.

They offer us a new room with a balcony on the beach and a plunge pool. This one was much better.

I have to mention though that the beds are loose and the pillows are small and very hard. The shower heads are also full of limestone (green and dark grey spots).

Beach — very nice view. Oudoor chairs were comfy. There is indeed a lot of seaweed and the sand is kind of big and hard compared to the sand in the other hotels that we went to in Tulum.

Food — it was OK and a little expensive. The restaurant staff was great though.

Location — you have to know that the property is approx. 30 minutes from dowtown Tulum (by car) and there is not much to do around this hotel. There is a cenote and a couple of other hotels but thats it.

This property is the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing vacation. This is not the place to come party. It's not overly crowded, they have multiple pools, hammocks, a beautiful private pier with hammocks, beach front sun chairs on a private beach. It was a peaceful stay, they did have paddle boards and kayaking available free of charge to guests. Room service, pool side service, a cenote in front of the resort. Discount coupons for dinning at neighboring hotels, everything was delicious. Staff were very prompt in cleaning and room service and pool side drinks, grabbing you a taxi. Would definitely stay here again

A great, quiet escape near Tulum

My husband and I had a fantastic stay at Mereva. The entire staff was wonderful and so kind! The bed was very comfortable, and the rooms are steps away from both pools and the beach! The included breakfast was delicious. All the food was excellent and there were lots of great options on the menu. It was nice to have water, coconut water, sodas, and beers included with the room, and to be able to use the gym at the sister hotel just down the road. Some other reviews mention the \"rough road\" on the way to the hotel, but we didn't think it was bad at all. The area is very quiet and relaxed around the hotel, and there's even a cool cenote very close by! We'd highly recommend staying here if you're looking to relax.
