Rude morning waiter at breakfast. He said there was no menu and told us there was omelettes only and no price. When we were shocked to find out the total, he demanded a 15-20 percent tip. The rooms were nice but not as expected. We booked a partial ocean view and had no view at all of the ocean

No 24 hour shuttle as advertised. Instead get charged double the going rate for airport transfers. No front of staff available after 5pm which is extremely unhelpful and only person on site after this time cannot understand English nor speak it.

I had a solo beach birthday trip at Kai and it was such a wonderful experience. The beach bungalow is beautiful and I booked the beach front option which was amazing. The service was great and I really enjoyed my meals at the nearby beach restaurant. Highly recommended!

Beautiful rooms, beautiful property with kind staff, especially Dennis. Gorgeous, but the hotel’s amenities i found were significantly pricier than surrounding hotels, for example a bike rentak here would by $850 mxd conpared to next door where it was $350, their restaurant was gorgeous and loved the food quality, but again significantly higher prices than neighboring spots. I loved my stay here, and loved the convenience- please beware before booking there’s a $450 mxd one time fee to enter the national park and then a daily $120 something fee, which is pretty annoying but part of thr deal for this whole area.

I love how this location is very private. It has its private entrance to the jaguar park area. You also have access to golf carts that take you around the area where you can visit the light house, the Mayan ruins and other beaches like Santa Fe. We had the ocean front villa #1. Right in front the beach and near their restaurant Bokoba. Staff was extremely friendly. The waiter Jose went above and beyond for us. He brought us breakfast to our patio a few times. Was very attentive to our needs whether we were in our room. The pool or the beach.

Very nice, clean boutique hotel. It felt very quiet—almost like we were the only guests staying there, which made for a peaceful, if somewhat slow, atmosphere. The staff was friendly and easily accessible throughout our stay.

A couple of small surprises: they didn’t have a regular cappuccino or Corona beer available. That said, the food was excellent—definitely a step above the neighboring hotels. Overall, a pleasant stay with great service and quality dining. Would recommend it for my family and friends.

I Loved the cottages! They were very comfortable! We had everything we needed, and the extra items for the beach were appreciated (after-Sun lotion and bug spray)!
We rented an electric bike to take to a Cenote, and back to Tulum for shopping and lunch … that was so much fun! The only thing was the beach restaurant was very expensive … BUT … the food was great! It truly was a good stay.

We love Kai Tulum. The staff is always amazing and super friendly. The suites are so perfect- it’s like your own little oceanside cottage. Location inside the National Park is ideal for safety. Only negative this trip was the amount of seaweed but that is outside the control of any hotel. We can’t wait to return in the future.

We have a nice stay at Kai Hotel. Good place to stay, but we have lots o Dust allergy. After frist night we woke-up and I don’t know why we have many allergy. Another night and same lots of allergy. We decided to look where is coming this allergy and BIG Surprise on top of closest lotsssss of Dust. OMG we don’t know when it was the last time that place was clean. Very bad the hotel is nice but now we taking pilules for allergy. Look the photos that we made.

Two things stand out: 1, Romana, the yoga instructor and sound healer, is amazing. I took Yin/Tibetan sound bowls, slow flow, and abs/glutes and each session was amazing. She gives you all of herself, and her physical and spiritual approach is amazing. You do not come across people with her special energetic qualities often. On top of this, the yoga and massage hut is intimate, beautiful and magic. The other thing I loved was the rooms - comfy beds, great little decks, indoor and outdoor showers. I loved the feeling of the rooms. The food is very good too though the music can be a bit counter to the peaceful vibe. - it is nice that this resort and Ikal are right next to each other, to compliment each other.

The government started a new program to limit plastic- cans etc.. so on the road to the hotel everyone was stopped by the military and car screened. Massive backups- also we had water bottles and beer for our trip removed from our car.

Staying within the national park was neat, but you could not bring even a water bottle to the resort. Federal police check your car and trunk every time you travel from town to the resort. The property is beautiful and well kept but the tourist boats are everywhere on the beach in front of the hotel.

Great peaceful spot in Tulum

We loved Kai. It was a perfect option for my husband and I. I loved the privacy of the individual rooms. And it was a great spot right by the beach. It felt safe, comfortable, beautiful and peaceful/quiet. We ate in the restaurant one night of our stay and the food was good. We would definitely return to stay there again if we are back in Tulum.

El hotel está muy bonito y limpio. Muy cerca de las Ruinas de tulum. Los precios de la comida y bebidas está un poco elevados comparados con otros destinos turísticos pero igual que todo Tulúm.

El único pero en mi opinión es la playa. Tenía algo de sargazo y unas lanchas estacionadas en la playa que dañaban la hermosa vista al mar que tiene el hotel.

Se los recomiendo. Volvería a hospedarme ahí.

Lo que más disfrutamos fue andar en bicicleta en toda la zona arqueológica.

Nota: El hotel está en retirado de la zona hotelera donde están los restaurantes y beach clubs famosos.
Esperen gastar $600 pesos de ida a los restaurantes y $700/$800 para regresar a tu hotel.

The property is right on the beach and in close proximity to a handful of other hotels. My room was extremely clean and housekeeping came everyday. The restaurant had a very good, but small menu. All staff were kind and helpful. The property itself was the perfect calm, quiet getaway.

The resort is quiet, clean and a great place to relax. We really loved the hotel but it fell short in service and amenities.

PROS:
-Very clean
-Quiet and relaxing atmosphere
-Tasty food and drinks
-Decorated room for wifes birthday

CONS:
-At check in the front desk walked us to our suite, when we got there, someones empty drink cups were left on our patio set, to my surprise staff member just left them there, nobody collected them until the next day.
-Very poor wifi.
-First 24 hours our hot water did not work
-Front desk is supposed to be open until 11pm but good luck finding someone to help you after 9pm.
-Restaurant closes at 10:00pm but stops serving at 9:30pm even though the hotel claims they serve until 10:00pm.
-No phone or tv in the room
-Since there is no phone to call the front desk, they ask you to use whatsapp to communicate with the hotel, sometimes we did not receive a response for as long as 10 hours.
-Restaurant service slow
-Hotel offers complimentary coffee delivered to room in morning at requested time. Consistently delivered at wrong time by over 40 mins.
-One night we were heading out to dinner and discovered their maintenance person who was varnishing the fence in the parking lot had dripped varnish all over our rental vehicle. When I brought it to his attention, no apology was offered, he just handed me wet rag to clean it. I am lucky I got there while it was wet.
-Our patio daybed is covered in palm tree debris every morning, nobody cleans it.

Kai is stunning! This is a this is a great hotel, if you would like a peaceful place to rest and reflect, swim and enjoy the Playa Paraiso. This is not the right hotel if you want to go to different bars and restaurants every night. You can take a cab into town, but it is not that close and not worth it in my opinion. We enjoyed our stay at Kai so much, especially the beautiful room. Their bungalows are as beautiful as the pictures show. The restaurant is slightly overpriced as far as food, but their two for one margaritas can’t be beat. The massage therapist at Kai is excellent, and will give you a great price if you can pay in pesos. Having pesos would have been the only improvement on my stay as I found it a little tricky at times to use a card. Kai is next-door to IKAL Hotel and IKAL’s restaurant is so good and very affordable. Our room was quiet and safe, and we felt so well cared for. They have filtered water in every room so you don’t have to worry about finding bottled water, which can be a big stress at times in Mexico.
I would come back here in instant! What a beautiful place.

My stay here was perfection!! We had basically our own bungalow on the beach with our own patio area. The staff left coffee at our door daily and were very accommodating. Security was tight upon entering so we felt very safe. Can’t beat the price for a 10 second walk to the ocean. We’d definitely come back!

My wife and I had a wonderful time at Kai Tulum! I'd like to give a big shout out to Andy at the restaurant for being so friendly, attentive, and just all around helpful. Besides excellent service in the restaurant, Andy gave us good advice for local activities. As for the rest of the stay, our room was so comfortable and so close to the shore! The hotel was beautiful whether seen from the shore, the garden, or the cabin. I loved the beach club and would return in a heartbeat! I couldn't believe it when I went swimming and looked up the shore to see the ruins. What an amazing view! The restaurant was excellent and always delicious. Abram and Jeff were also great at the restaurant.

The communication regarding the entrance to the property was bad. I was not informed until I messaged the hotel. Every time we needed to enter the hotel, there was security which bothered us to buy tickets. The hotel couldn't arrange anything for us when we complained.

Other than that, the stay was nice and peaceful. The restaurant at the hotel had very few options. The hotel is located far away from all local restaurants, so it was inconvenient given how the exit and entrance was. There was also some construction work happening which was noisy

I stayed at Kai Tulum for a brief 4 day stay and overall the stay was good. The hotel is terrible with communication, i had a few questions i had before we travelled to Mexico and their whatsapp account were never replied to my questions, their hotel phone never answered any of my calls, i finally received an email on the morning of my flight which was not very convenient.
The road leading to the hotel was closed due to construction and a back winding dirt road had to be used, It was inconvenient.
The check-in was simple, the hotel provided free parking for guests. The ocean view was partially blocked by the restaurant but regardless it was a phenomenal view every morning. It actually did an accurate job of representing the room and the beach distance from the room. It was ocean view and a wonderful beach style cabin/room. The bed faced the view and the shower was very nice. The grounds are nice and very tropical feel wherever you are on the hotel grounds. The pool area is small but the hotel only has about 16 rooms. The beach has plenty of seating with a great view. The restaurant was over-priced in my opinion and better meals were had at different locations. The restaurant does have a clean modern look but there was no attempts to have live music or any type of bar area to make it inviting. The beach sand everywhere got a little old because it was very dusty and got everywhere but that isn't the hotels fault. The hotel needed to do a better clean up the sargasso seaweed

The staff was amazing. They reached out before our arrival to setup transportation and see if we need anything :) great recommendations while we were there. The location was great. So close to beach, nice room, always finding beach chairs, can go on walks on the beach which is public in Tulum. You can walk to the Tulum ruins. You can rent bikes from the hotel to go on a bike ride. I just wished I could make coffee in the room since I like it hot and earlier than 8am when they bring it to your deck. We had a fabulous time. Small hotel, no extra fees like some big resorts, great service, walkable to other restaurants on the beach. They also cleaned the washed up plants coming from the sea every morning, to my surprise some hotels didn't! but they did it every morning though the beach is public :)

Quiet Escape in Tulum

Stayed at the Kai Tulum for 4 nights/3 days. The hotel property is really gorgeous: the bungalows are all set behind the hotel restaurant and beachfront. The rooms/bungalows are really lovely:very calming colors (some may find dull or boring) though perhaps some may find the spacing between bungalows a bit close. The bungalow I had was very comfortable: spacious deck with outdoor shower, very comfortable bed, nice very clean bathroom and shower area. The whole area was very relaxing and chill: we managed to visit hotels in the main hotel zone towards the south and the vibe at the Kai was so much more chill and relaxed. The hotel staff was very helpful and kind, though there were some minor service hiccups that were unfortunate (issues with the included breakfast, timing of the morning coffee/tea sevice) but nothing major.

Overall a lovely stay, I would definitely stay again!

A Holiday Inn AirPort Express has better amenities. This hotel didn’t provide a pen, a usb outlet, a warm blanket, a telephone, a concierge, no management were present for the first 3 days, food was inedible at dinner and we had to pay $100 per day in taxis due to the lack of dinner options. None were within walking distance. Very poor communication from staff due to language disparity which would have been fine if we were expecting a mom and pop place. This place charged luxury prices and was a total joke.

Kai Tulum was absolutely gorgeous. The staff was super friendly and helpful. My room was perfect for my daughter and I. I liked that we had bathrobes but would have been better if they were softer and more plush. We only had dinner there one night as there weren't that many options. The plate of pasta that we had was delicious but small. I highly recommend Kai Tulum!

The cabins are clean and spacious, and nicely appointed.

The chilled out vibe of the cabins contrasts a little with the beach club atmosphere of the restaurant and bar. Food good but not outstanding. Our cabin was at the rear of the property and basically had unusable wi-fi.

Beach loungers had good availability and well spaced out, with different options for seeking shade

The room was wonderful, much better than I expected. The location is perfect. Right on the beach and just a short walk away from the Tulum Ruins. The water was so nice and we enjoyed swimming.

Food options: there is the hotel restaurant and the hotel restaurant next door. We had a car so we were able to drive into town. (I recommend going to Antojitos La Chiapaneca and getting the tacos al pastor.) Otherwise you can rent a bike or get a taxi.

There was no coffee available until 7 or 7:30. I wish that coffee could have been available earlier.

We drove and were very happy with the very large, private, and guarded parking lot.

We were so happy! Worth the price.

Beautiful cabanas, quiet and natural atmosphere, wonderful staff, excellent food.
Visit Kai Tulum if you want a vacation that is relaxing and away from the crowds. The cabanas are beautifully constructed of natural materials, in shade of sand and white washed wood. Gorgeous palm trees snd the ocean at your feet. But most importantly the staff are gracious, friendly, helpful and professional.
I would go back as soon as possible!

This hotel was amazing! We spent 6 days there last week and it was incredible! Right on the beach, but not too busy at all. Our bungalow was so cute and clean. Air conditioning worked great and we had no issues with bugs and other critters in our bungalow. Not safety concerns at all. Lock box in room that worked great and there is security on site. Anna and Monica that work reception were so kind and helpful with our needs. I would recommend Kai Tulum to anyone! We are already dying to go back!

This property was horrible there was no reception , seaweeds piled up everywhere that smelled awful. The food was gross. There was big roaches in the room. No access to anything close by , we felt stranded. We left the next morning and we weren’t able to get a refund. Our lock box was broken. We didn’t feel safe at all.

The hotel overall was nice until Monday morning when there was construction going on, on top of my room. No one told me about it when I checked in. I wish they would have said something instead of me finding out on my own. I had a garden view room. The restaurant service was great but the construction ruined my stay.
Also the hotel is secluded from all the restaurants and shops. You have to take a taxi to get to that part of Tulum. If you’re looking to relax and be away from everything then Kai is the place to be except for the construction.
