The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful, really nice people. The communication with the hotel prior to our trip was quick and efficient too. We had a few questions and would sometimes respond within minutes. When we got to our room, I noticed they had upgraded our room to one facing the ocean, what a pleasant surprise.
The beach was clean and well maintained. Given that it was seaweed season, there was an employee raking and clearing it every morning and going over the sand with a rake after he was done with the seaweed. It was the only hotel where this was done daily.
The restaurant staff was also very friendly, pleasant and helpful, we will miss our daily morning Spanish lesson while having breakfast 😊
Now beware, Tulum is expensive, eating out is not cheap and taxi will cost 💲 but all and all we had had a great and enjoyable time.

The power went out 2 out of 4 nights of my stay. No accommodations made are advise onwhat to do. We were in complete darkness for several hours.

Ideal quiet beach hotel. Small, personal friendly staff, lovely beach (yes, there are rocks but go to the end of the dock to avoid them), free snorkle gear and kayaks, a cenote just a 5 minute walk away for an interesting swim as well as a scenic beach bar/cafe. Restaurant in hotel next door as well as the cafe at Cielo (I recommend the coconut shrimp) especially with room service so you can eat on your beachside balcony. Be sure to get one of the 4 beachfront suites. Conviently located for viewing the ruins and cenotes either by car or taxi.

Air conditioner was broken fixed on Tues. but was not fixed had to come back Thursday, still did not functioning properly could not turn up or down or on or off. Breakfast very limited and nothing great. No juice included. Beach small but nice. But ocean water
Dark and seagasum seaweed. Love love love Mexico have been coming here for vacations for 40 years, but not so much this hotel. This is not a 9 star place!!! Must have a car!

The beach is rocky and shallow, so hard to swim. The pool is very cold.

The hotel itself is beautiful. Our room was large and pleasant. The staff are all nice. The included breakfast was fine and basic. Very good fruit, and several egg options. However, although it was included, the staff made it clear that tips were expected. One morning we left early for a tour and asked if we could have some breakfast to take with us. Yes to the fruit, which staff could approve, but no to anything else.

Since we did not have a car, I had been worried about restaurants within walking distance but that was not a problem. There are a number of hotels on the road (a dirt road that parallels the beach with forest/jungle or mangrove, not sure which, on one side and hotels and private apartments on the other). Each hotel has a restaurant, meaning that there are several restaurants within easy walking distance. There is even a popular cenote a short walk away.

Taxis to Tulum are expensive, so we took the Colectivo. We took it once to the Tulum Ruins and once downtown. This is a shared van and is very cheap and easy to use. But you have to walk to the main road to get it.

Overall, the hotel was good value for the money.

Ate at the restaurant and was disappointed with the food quality, I grudgingly paid 75.00 for a burger and a skirt steak The exchange rate was unusually low and didn’t match my converter at all!! Staff was great, had an issue with the a/c but maintenance fixed it. Also, no elevator if you don’t mind walking up steps.

Room was HUGE, and loved having a balcony. Breakfast had lots of options and was very good. Very safe area with security patrolling. Loved the private beach area with the hammock on the dock to lounge on. Although we didn’t have time to go, there is a cenote just across from the hotel. Would stay there again.

The hotel is great. People are extremely nice. The area is very safe as we have our rented car as well. The only issue is that there are a lot of speed bumps on the road to the hotel. If you rent a car, make sure it's not a low car. The road is very dark, so it's not advised to walk at night without a flashlight. A car is recommended if you stay here.
Breakfast is included but it's a la carte, so it's not all you can eat. Food is clean and well prepared. Plenty of places to sit and relax. We love the hammocks at the pier. The pool is very small and too cold, so we didn't use it.
Overall, we like the place a lot.

This was our first time in Tulum so we weren’t sure what to expect but the hotel was wonderful. Service was excellent and it was convenient to go into town, especially if you have a car if not, a taxi was a quick ride. The town was interesting. also lots of shops, and it had free Internet in town

Nice hotel, very quiet area. Good location with easy access to cenotes and other day trips. It was windy so we didn't get to snorkel or kayak in front of the hotel, but I'm guessing it's nice to do that when the weather is calmer. We did see turtles by the dock.

We absolutely loved the hotel! You walk up the entrance of the hotel and it's open to the ocean, great breeze coming off the water, beautiful hotel! Great staff, very, very comfortable king sized bed. Slept very well! Very quaint hotel that was close to a couple of restaurants, which were phenomenal. We will definitely be back.

While the hotel advertises free breakfast, the waiter at the restaurant imposes a 15% mandatory tip on the menu price of the breakfast items which are already unreasonably high.

Our room also did not have hot water and when I brought it up to the staff members, they said to let the water run for 15 minutes. We’ve tried to do that and still failed to get hot water.

The staff were very helpful and attentive. The room was just right. Breakfast included made the start of the day easier. Water and beach area was quiet and secluded; sometimes difficult to find on the Riviera Maya these days as the area has been somewhat overdeveloped. You will want a car to comfortably navigate seeing the sights as staying only at the hotel or walking around would be a little limiting for stays lasting more than a weekend (taxis available at the end of the street. pricing we heard was a little more than you might think). Hotel restaurant doesn’t compete with neighborhood restaurants, buts that’s ok as you can easily walk down the street to eat at some very good and interesting spots. Safety is very good, the road has a full time guard station who checks in every person. Definitely worth paying a visit and enjoying.
If you’re a beach person, the water in this area can be a little challenging with waves, current, rocks, and the continuing presence of sargasm, but that didn’t negatively impact the overall visit for us, as we enjoyed the beach anyway.

We loved the property and service. We ate at the restaurant the first night. I had a hamburger and fries. During the night I woke up feeling very sick and soiled the bed linens. The hotel charged us for the bed linens at checkout. This was very disappointing further considering why I was sick.

The architecture of the hotel is unique, excellent exterior design. The room is really spacious, with interesting interior design, large bathroom with both a shower and jacuzzi tub and all the necessities needed for after the shower. Plenty of towels, no need to bring your own for the beach. The restaurant food was really good and the staff very helpful. Very clean in and out of the room. The property has its own beach with chairs, bean bags and kayaks. I would gladly go there again. The only negative I have is about the area around, the road to the hotel is very narrow, bumpy and there was a construction work in the neighboring property with quite some noise during the day.

We had a great stay at Cielo Maya. Located right on the beach with a pier and some hammocks. Also has a pool and some swinging chairs. Breakfast was included and great considering all the options. Rooms are a little dated without any USB ports but otherwise clean and very comfortable for the price. We were also able to rent a car directly from the hotel which was a great benefit and helped us a lot with day trips to other Mayan ruins and a beautiful lagoon. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great stay on a reasonable budget.

Quiet, safe, beautiful beach access, free breakfast (made to order, and great options), friendly staff. This is an absolute gem.

Only concern we had was:
1. Water temperature (you may not get hot water for shower from time to time)
2. Power Outage (the Tulum infrastructure is not yet developed, this can be experienced elsewhere in Tulum)

Would definitely recommend the stay here!

My experience at this hotel & criticism hopefully helps them because it has the potential of being a 5 star hotel.
The hotel is small but has a charming rustic and peaceful environment so if you’re looking for a place to relax & get away from the craziness of city life this is perfect. I was very happy to receive a welcoming note and a bottle of bubbly to welcome us! The staff is very friendly and attentive specially Virginio & Juan they were extremely helpful along with the front desk agents which unfortunately I forgot their names.
I celebrated my wife’s birthday with a private romantic dinner at the dock which was spectacular in every way, the service from Virginio was wonderful and the food was exquisite starting from the Cielo Maya Salad, the carrot soup, the filet mignon/shrimp to the coconut flan!! Just delicious & perfect!
The only complaints I would give is for housekeeping to be more aware of the amenities that should always be replaced in the rooms such as water, coffee, cream, and or any of the bathroom essentials which could bring this hotel to a higher level. I had to be requesting many of those items on daily basis and I don’t think that it was due to lack of gratuity because I was leaving it daily.
On our last day we ordered room service & unfortunately the food arrived uncovered and cold,I ordered a ribeye & the one we got was an overcooked weird piece of meat mostly fat looked microwaved cooked so disappointed! I’ve worked in luxury hotels & restaurants

The beach was horrible. No place to walk. The whole front was packed with seawee.. steps foe pier to the water which was very slippery. The front desk staff was excellent. We felt safe throughtout the area. Overall Tulum wasnt as good as i thought. Would never come back

This place is very quiet and away from the main town which was nice.

Con: poor water pressure, repairs needed,

If you want to swim in the water, bring water shoes! The rocks underneath will hurt your feet. Also, take a taxi or rent a car from the airport. The shuttle is expensive. Overall, I would book this location again

Fantastic strip if you want to be close to Tulum but far enough away to be quiet! Staff is absolute ace! Candy at the desk is awesome as is Juan our waiter. I cant wait to return! Rental car will go a long way to help avoid taxis. The cenote within walking distance was great.

We got a great price and I quickly learnt that Tulum isn’t for the economically challenged. When the taxi turn into the road I was shocked by the massive holes created by the rain. Would should have been a 5min drive turned into 20mins. Obviously the hotel has no control over the weather, but communication could have avoided the surprise as well as being prepared for the nausea that came with the bumpy ride.

Our first morning was glorious with the sunrise over the beautiful beach.

Most of the staff were pleasant but the cleaning was merely a suggestion from their staff. They didn’t change the sheets, the bathroom wasn’t cleaned and the day before my departure, they didn’t even bother to put a pillowcase. Quite an executive decision! Maybe they knew something I didn’t. Overall I felt safe and the sound of the waves crashing into my sleep made it a decent stay.

I loved my time here. If you are looking for peace, you have found the right place. The road getting out there is tough…but that probably helps with it not being too crowded. Once your there: sound of the waves, friendly service, great breakfast, kayaks and snorkeling included, beach chairs with umbrellas in the sand, infinity pool overlooking the water, hammocks on the pier…watching the sunrise and sunset from a kayak in the water was my favorite moment. I came here to heal and being here helped soothe my heart.

MUST READ BEFORE YOU BOOK!

English: My stay at Cielo Maya was great. Staff was friendly, our room was clean however, the room we booked was supposed to have \"partial ocean view\" it definetely did not and it was on the opposite side of the beach. we had a balcony facing the jungle so false advertisememt. Additionally, if you are booking at this hotel do NOT book during raining season. It took 15-20 minutes from the main road to get to the hotel. The smaller road to get into the hotel is full of pot holes and they do not warn you about that. Tour buses will not pick you up in this hotel because of how bad the road is. They will make you meet them at the main road 15-20 minutes away from the hotel. The hotel has a nearby Taxi stop. The Taxi stop will charge you $30 USD just to get you from the hotel to the main road due to the terrible road conditions costing me more money in the long run. Hotel and service were great but if i knew about Tour buses denying to enter due to road conditions and how expensive the Taxi service is I would NOT have booked at Cielo Maya.

Spanish: Mi estadía en Cielo Maya fue genial. El personal era amable, nuestra habitación estaba limpia, sin embargo, se suponía que la habitación que reservamos tenía \"vista parcial al mar\", pero definitivamente no la tenía y estaba en el lado opuesto de la playa. Teníamos un balcón que daba al bosque, publicidad falsa. Además, si reserva en este hotel, NO reserve durante la temporada de lluvias. Tardamos entre
