The hotel itself was great— it’s well designed and definitely a unique vibe if you’re looking for something different.

That being said, the service was not great. We had two rooms reserved for our 3-day stay. The first night my 7 year old went to turn in a light and was electrocuted, which resulted in all the lights in the room going out. The maintenance staff was gone for the day, so we had to change rooms. Not a huge deal, however we were told we had to completely remove the contents of our room first, then go get a new room key in order to access the new room. This was a huge hassle at 9:30 at night with two young kids and felt like it could have been handled a lot better.

Speaking of the new room, we were switched from a two-bed room to a single. I asked for a rate adjustment and they said that since we booked through Expedia we ‘already got a cheaper rate’. The hotel manager was out and was supposed to call to talk through this but it’s been 3 days and I still haven’t heard anything.

Because of the character limit in this review I’ll keep the rest short. Housekeeping never once came to our room during the 3-day stay. After asking at the front desk they said that sometimes their housekeeping feels weird about cleaning occupied rooms (what??).

We also paid $40/night for parking only to have someone park in our spot and have to wait 30 min for them to move.

Long story short, kid got electrocuted, no housekeeping, sub-par communication.

Clean room but with no fridge or microwave or anything for amenities, this would be best served as a one night stay. With the food options around, it works for a night. More than that is asking a lot without a fridge to store beverages or leftovers

The sliding bathroom barn doors don’t actually close, so if you’re staying with someone you’ll probably use the communal bathroom in the basement to avoid any awkward shared bathroom sounds & smells. Otherwise it was okay.

Great location- in the heart of Uptown- convenient to a lot of restaurants and theater where we were able to walk to. There is a parking lot behind T-Mobile building right across the street on Emerson. 24 hours is $18 - with no in/out privileges- but we parked and walked the neighborhood- so good deal. The room itself was small- but comfortable. The bed was comfy- although there was no fridge in the room. Enjoyed the complimentary bar drink.

We've stayed at The Moxy several times before this trip, and while overall, much was the same, it just seemed to lack a bit of the overall fun vibe it previously had. Staff was friendly, but room was missing the guitar, clock radio, etc., and the bar closes much earlier than it used to.

Stylish, social, and just a little scrappy
Stayed at Moxy Uptown Minneapolis for a weekend and it nailed the \"boutique hotel that doesn't take itself too seriously\" vibe.
- Right in Uptown, walkable to Lake of the Isles, great restaurants on Hennepin/Lake St, and the bars around LynLake. If you’re here for the scene, you’re in it.
- Room was compact but clever. Peg walls, fold-down desk, under-bed storage. You’re not supposed to hang out here all day anyway. Beds were actually super comfortable and the shower pressure was strong.
Bottom line for me: Moxy Uptown is perfect if you want a social, design-forward basecamp and don’t plan to spend much time in your room. For the price point and the energy, 4 stars feels right.

Property was very well-maintained. Room was exquisitely clean. Really liked the bathroom layout and the walk-in shower and rain head - there was plenty of room for toiletries (not sure what one of the other reviewers was going on about). Bed and pillows were comfortable. Bar area was lively; they had opened the outdoor portion and people were hanging out on the street side and there was good energy.

Also, free parking is available on the street just one block south.

Couple opportunities for improvement:
-Shower temperature range should be set a bit hotter.
-The guitars on the wall were cool, but including a working electric amplifier in every room was a WILD choice for a hotel in which guests expect to sleep. Thankfully no one decided to plug in at 3am.

Those are my only nits to pick. Thank you for the nice stay!

The room was clean overall, but every time the sink faucet was turned on there was a horrible mildew smell to the point I was concerned about the safety of using that water to brush my teeth or wash my face because I am allergic. By the time of check out, I was having a mild, but worsening, allerigic reaction.
The room had originally been booked for 2 nights, but we could only endure 1 night.
The room was advertised as sound proof yet we could hear people locking their cars from the street when we were on the fourth floor, the door to the room had a sizable gap underneath so we heard everything happening in the hallway, as well as any walking in the vicintiy, on our floor or the ones above and below.
The television seemed outdated or damaged maybe because every button click took close to a full minute before the tv responded, and Netflix was the only streaming service we could get to work.
There was noticeable water damage in and around the shower with peeling or missing caulking, and the paint on the handheld shower head was worn off the hose, around 3 inches down from where it connects to the shower head.

The complimentary drinks tokens at check in were a nice feature, but were not enough to offset the negatives that caused us to end our trip early, knowing I wouldn't get refunded for the second night.

The Moxy s a great chain for travelers. The lobby has some great amenities like games, free coffee/ tea and some entertainment at night. The rooms are smaller, but work with 2 travelers. I will say at this particular location, there is a window in the bathroom that looks right into the shower/ straight at the toilet which is a weird design choice. I would have liked a comforter or blanket with the bedding, but overall really comfortable.

We enjoyed our stay at the Uptown Moxy. The property is a good value. However, there are some issues to consider before booking such as: no refrigerator or safe in the room.
