The Fontaine is in our rotation when traveling to KC. It continues to be very suitable for its location, cleanliness, comfort and value. Are the rooms in need of updating? maybe, but not to extent of calling them tired. We love visiting the bar on the 7th floor off the pool deck, though pool was not open for the season yet on this stay. Some of the best happy hour drinks you'll find anywhere! On matter of bathroom towel racks, none except one in the shower, not sure why there aren't any on the bathroom walls. Regardless, we'll be back,

1. The value was terrible (cost vs worth)
2. The quality of the hotel was poor and many things in the room did not meet basic standards like the shower door on able to close for several inches
3. The area did not feel safe
4. Noise isolation was very poor ... could easy hear conversations outside the room, outside the hotel, next room over , etc
5. I'd never stay there again even for $50
6. Just felt like an old construction with a few makeovers.

since it was winter the pool was closed
there is a weird smell in the lobby and in the hallways that was offputting
I like the overall design of the room and lobby have a clean modern feel but the sheets and bedding felt cheap and uncomfortable and there wasnt a warm comforter so i was cold at night.
when i arrived the AC was blasting at 62 degrees and it was 25 degrees outside so the room was freezing. I had to put the thermostat up to 78 but it never really got all the way warm.
no one is at the front door to help you with your bags going in or out of cars. they just ignore you.

Sadly, we won’t stay here again. We chose The Fontaine because we had a good experience several years ago. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case last night. The room directly beside ours was extremely loud- think screaming at the top of your lungs loud. For hours on end. Blaring explicit music, slamming doors, talking so loud we could hear complete conversations, etc. I called the front desk 3 times over the course of several hours. While sympathetic, they did nothing to support us. My daughter had a gymnastics meet at 8 am so we had to be up super early. At one point I looked over at her trying to sleep and she legitimately had her hands over her ears. We asked if the front desk even had a sound machine we could borrow- they didn’t. We couldn’t move rooms because they were sold out, and ultimately no one got any sleep despite downloading a white noise app and sharing ear plugs. 1. The guests in the room beside us were complete jerks. 2. The hotel did nothing to ensure our room was even remotely quiet. Won’t return.

We stayed at The Fontaine in Kansas City for a quick staycation to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary on Valentine’s Day as part of our “20 awesome things” celebration.

First, the positives: the hotel’s interior design truly rivals many properties in the city. The suite itself was beautiful, well-appointed, and very comfortable. The rainfall shower was a standout feature and gave the stay a luxury feel. The surrounding area also offers plenty to do, which made it a great location for a romantic getaway.

However, the service did not match the luxury presentation — especially given the holiday and milestone occasion.

One of the main reasons I selected this hotel was because robes were advertised. I actually searched specifically for hotels that offered robes and chose this property for that reason. Unfortunately, we never received robes during our stay.

Our reservation included a complimentary drink, but I had to ask twice before finally receiving it the following morning. I also inquired about upgrading to a champagne package, and there seemed to be confusion because I booked through Expedia, which required staff to “research” how to proceed.
On checkout morning, I requested a late checkout and was unable to secure one. At one point, I called the front desk and the call was disconnected before assistance was provided.

My wife and I came for a weekend stay to celebrate her birthday as well as my granddaughter's first. Check in was smooth and efficient courtesy of Tashae. She assisted us throughout our stay leaving a lounge gift card and arranging the hotel's shuttle service for dinner later that even which is a real plus for me serving the Plaza neighborhood.

We were pleased with our room on the sixth floor and had positive interactions with everyone we interacted with. Did not make it to the gym or the rooftop but we will have this property high on our list on our next visit to KC.

Our only issues were worn out pillows which detracted from the nice bed and the confusing signage in the underground parking lot.

We have stayed at and enjoyed this hotel numerous times over the last few years. This was the first stay with multiple concerns. Experienced two Elevator malfunctions, had to request hangers for closet and a trash can twice before they arrived. Had to request body wash for shower 3 times. Sink in bathroom was backed up and had to be unstopped. Keycard to room failed and had to have battery replaced by maintenance. Mattress was horribly stained. Coffee? Pee? Another body fluid?
All this in room 221.
I will likely look elsewhere for next trip to KC.

Had to switch rooms three times. First room smelled like a sewer. We prepaid for a jr suite and no others were available so we were forced h to a downgrade. Second room had a giant brown stain on the mattress. Third try was the charm. All of the rooms feel tired. Every piece of trim in the rooms needs a coat of paint. Carpets look tired. If not for the rooftop igloos, I don’t really see a reason to return.

This hotel looks so nice, but the main reason for one's stay at a hotel is to sleep and the whole sleeping area needs a major overhaul.

First and foremost, the bed is like sleeping on cardboard. I literally could barely walk after getting out of bed in the morning. Every bone in my body hurt.

The worst of all was the pillows. Why on earth are they using very flat, awful, smelly down pillows? Why not hypoallergenic down alternative pillows that are fluffier and can be washed and sanitized? I woke up with a migraine, snot literally running out of my nose, and a rash on the side of my face I was sleeping on. And they were so flat I had to sleep on three of them.

Lastly, the flooring in the entryway is not extended into the sleeping area. The carpeting is dirty, ugly, and not allergy friendly.

Additionally, even though our room was \"refreshed\" after our first night's stay, we did not get more coffee, tea, sugar, or cream refilled and were only provided enough for one morning. Same for bottled water. Stays at other comparable hotels refilled these items daily.

I had such high hopes for this \"luxury\" hotel that is not luxury at all. This is the closest hotel to our son who lives in the KC area but we will not be staying again until upgrades are made.

The room did have a slight bad smell when we first checked in, I did happen to have my own air fresheners, so I got that under control myself. I was not happy the way our breakfast was handled, other people were getting waited on and getting their food that sat down after we got there, I don’t understand what the problem was, got handed off to another waitress while still trying to get coffee and get our food ordered, only had one place setting of silverware on the table, and no sugar on the table, after I got my coffee cups, I have to get those items off another table after the customers left, and as I looked around, others had their own coffee craft, but one was given to us, I still don’t understand why????, saw other couples get their food and get done before us, we were there an hour, I did complain to the check in desk when we checked out, was not happy with that experience, that made me not wanting to ever return , I did like the room and the shower was very nice

Yes and no. The check in clerks/front desk had little to no knowledge about public transportation options when asked about a local location, that I was traveling to, only suggesting Uber. When I inquired about a local newspaper, again the check in clerks/front desks clerks had no response other than \"I have no idea where you can get a newspaper.\" This may seem minor to someone who doesn't enjoy a certain spirit, but I noticed that you do not have any gin products for sale in your small kiosk

We did not have hot water last night or tonight. We called the front desk for help with this last night and someone came up to fix it. We had hot water this morning. Today at 5pm we didn't have hot water again. We asked someone to take a look. At 9:30pm we still didn't have hot water. This is disappointing.

Also, you ask us to hang up our towels and go green..so as not to use housekeeping and use more towels. However, there are no hooks or towel bars to hang the towels.

I was looking forward to staying at The Fontaine, especially given its reputation as a top upscale hotel in KC but unfortunately, my experience fell far short of that standard.

The room itself was surprisingly cramped, which was disappointing for a property marketed as upscale. Even worse, the cleaning service was unreliable. One day housekeeping showed up at 8am and I asked them to come back later - they did not return that day. The next day when housekeeping actually showed up, all they did was make the bed. I requested a full service that day. They didn’t replace the trash liners, replenish the in-room coffee, or remove the dirty towels I’d intentionally placed on the floor for replacement. The floors and counters were never cleaned during my six-night stay. For a hotel in this price range, that level of service is unacceptable.

I also had issues with billing: the hotel attempted to charge me for overnight parking every night, even though I only parked overnight twice. It felt careless and added an unnecessary layer of frustration to the stay.

The bathroom wasn’t in great shape either—there was splattered paint in the corners and several areas clearly in need of repair. Overall, the room and upkeep didn’t reflect anything close to a luxury experience.

In the end, The Fontaine was not a comfortable place to stay and did nothing to make guests feel like they were in a high-end hotel. I expected much better and would not choose to stay here again.

We always stay at The Fontaine when in Kansas City because we love it.
This time the front desk and housekeeping fell far short of expectations.
We checked in to Room 307 Friday and noticed less than half a roll of toilet paper and an almost empty Kleenex box.
On our way to dinner, I stopped at the front desk and ask that both be delivered to our room.
They never were.
The next morning, housekeeping refilled the Kleenex but still not the toilet paper. We had to track down a housekeeping cart to get one.
Why aren’t there extra toilet paper rolls in every room, all the time?
No one likes toilet paper anxiety.

They told me my room had a pipe problem and they had nowhere there for me to stay but would put me in another hotel that was not very nice .. they refused to move my sister who also had a room there so we’d be staying together but it would cost them more and we’d have to pay the extra price… very rude .. I had to find us a new room at a better hotel and pay more because it was last minute .. will never book a reservation there again

Sides of tub unusually high. Floor of tub very slick. Slip and fall potential is high while stepping into tub. Second problem was with bed. Mattress sheet too small for mattress; could not be tucked in and secured. Worse, one side of mattress had 5 inch depression versus other side. Mattress needed replacement years ago. Fitted sheets also necessary. Shared sheet issue with front desk after first night. Issue noted, but never fixed. Was only disappointment encountered with any member of hotel staff.

Horrible stay at a place that chose to prioritize dog yoga over hotel guests. They sent a text welcoming you for coffee in the cafe from 7-9 am. Then closed the cafe at those times for a dog yoga class. Went to the restaurant 7 floors up for coffee, stood around waiting for service, then back and forth to the lobby searching for service. Finally found someone who served coffee from a Thermos in a paper cup with packet creamer for which they charged $5. Pretty certain it was from the cart going to service the dog yoga class. They need to understand and appreciate their core business and customers, which one would presume is not dog yoga enthusiasts. But who knows? They certainly received priority treatment over paying guests. The place also sent out various conflicting messages re: the dog class and which services would be cancelled and guests inconvenienced to support the dogs. I received 3-4 conflicting text messages and other communications re: what they were limiting for the hotel guests so that the dogs could hold their yoga class. I love dogs. I have 3 of them. I don’t appreciate paying $300-$400 per night for a hotel to have it overrun by dogs and their yoga class such that basic breakfast, lunch, and even coffee services are eliminated for paying hotel guests. I travel often to KC for family and business and have stayed here many times. I won’t be back. At least at a $100/night Holiday Inn one can obtain coffee. For FREE, albeit in a paper cup.

The restaurant breakfast was the best that I have ever eaten. Tender biscuits. Gravy better than home. Fluffy scrambled eggs. Keep that cook!
Warm enough to swim in the roof top pool.
