This was my first time staying in a hostel, and I would definitely consider staying here again. We booked a 5-bed dorm as three friends and, luckily, we were all placed in the same room, which was clean and comfortable.

I was a bit worried about the shared toilets and bathrooms, but I had no issues at all, everything was tidy and well maintained. The location was also super convenient, within walking distance of Berghain and the train stat

Awesome place to stay! I stayed to start off the weekend and attended Berghain for Friday and through Sunday for Klubknact which I stayed at through Monday. So it was a great place to come in and out without feeling like a disturbance since most visitors are have the same experience. The staff was hit or miss; some were very kind and helpful while others were not hospitable.

Great place for solo travelers or groups! I recommend and would definitely stay here again.

I stayed in a three bedroom Girls dorm with an ensuite barhroom which was rad and had the room mostly to myself, but for one late night roommate who only came to drop and pickup a bag after what I assume was some Berlin raving. Good on ya.

I only stayed one night during low season and found Sunflower had everything I needed, comfortable bed with clean linens, what looked like a sociable atmosphere downstairs, good access to transport links.

Most importantly, after a long day of travel I found the Canadian at reception to be such a wonderful, kind and helpful human.

Management take note, not all hostel receptions are this awesome, welcoming and pleasant. It was so nice to be greeted and helped like that in yet another new and foreign city. Thank you so much!

Avoid at all cost!

This would have to be the worst place to stay! It was dirty, noisy throughout the night and unsafe. Security was nonexistent as drifters from the street had access to enter the building.
I would never recommend this place!

Not once—in my 4-night stay—was my single room (not a dorm) cleaned. Bed linen was dirty with chocolate (hopefully) stains. And you must give a 10€ deposit for bedsheets and a tiny towel, which must be brought back at checkout. Worst: it’s overpriced when compared to other (better) hotels in the area. This describes SunFlower best: “Charge 'em for the lice, extra for the mice/Two percent for looking in the mirror twice/Here a little slice, there a little cut/Three percent for sleeping with the window shut”. Stay away!

Stupid system, they only have one key for the whole room, which is a dorm!!! I'm basically saying that every single person in the room will touch it and have it while they're at the same time tell us (customers) that we're not allowed to go in the building without a face mask and not allowed to have any visitors neither inside or outside the hostel. Like seriously what the hack?

Reception staff ignored me for a full five minutes at the check in desk when I arrived then dealt with a family who arrived after me which was irritating and rude but apart from that my stay was fine, room comfortable. The corridors at night were a little noisy but nothing that a pair of earplugs couldn't solve. The location was perfect for accessing all the fun parts of Freidrichshain and Kreuzberg and really convenient to Warchauer Strasser S and U Bahn.

The hostel is conveniently located nearby a train station. Staff was nice and the facility is very clean and spacious. The hostel is surrounded by abandoned buildings or buildings in construction; however, hostel has policy to only tell guest into the building if they show the hostel stay card, which is help and felt safe. Will definitely stay again!

Very friendly staff and sociable clean hostel. The kitchen is the best ive ever seen in a hostel. Really modern. Great location, especially if you're a clubber. But even if you aren't its great for exploring the whole of Berlin. The bedroom was a bit noisy in the morning due to street noise but its easily ignored. The €3 breakfast buffet is a bargain.

The dorm has a lot of space. Although the building is old, the room itselle is morden Andy comfortable. The position is near the center. However, I cannot use Wi-Fi in the room and it is a big minus. The staff explains that My room is just renovated So matbe the Wi-Fi can not reach. I hope that They fix that in the future

I was recommended Sunflower Hostel by friends who stayed here in the past. I was not disappointed, within minutes of checking in I was sitting back with some of the people who were also staying there. The place was welcoming and was close to my favourite part of Berlin.

It was a good hostel and a great area. There was a payment problem which was really annoying to deal with but the hostel was overall good. The staff was super friendly. The rooms were really cool and clean. The bathrooms were clean as well.

Good all round place....

The room was fine and as comfortable as you would expect. We had a 7 bed dorm .Staff were friendly and even gave us some boiling water for our \"pot noodle\". Every door and locker in the entire place squeaked when opened ,which was quite annoying! They need to get a can of WD40 and go round all the doors, Other than that it was a good atmosphere all round.

Don't feel there's too much point in complaining as a hostel's a hostel but there are a few things I'd like to point out.

Instead of using keycards the Sunflower hostel has a single key per room system in use which is outdated and can present issues when you need to get to the room but someone else has left with it, meaning you have to travel to reception and beg for a spare. On my first night of arrival I had to do this and this leads on to the second complaint I'd like to mention - the rude staff. Both of the men behind the bar ignored me to talk to each other for quite some time while I was trying to organise a key for my room, and this was a very off putting experience as I'd been travelling all day and just wanted to go to my bed. After telling one of the particularly difficult staff members (the bald guy, for lack of better description) several times that there was literally no way I could get into the room he finally accepted that he'd have to give me a spare but the fact that he felt the need to be so mean to me and made it seem like the whole key loss scenario was somehow my own fault was incredibly off putting as I just don't see the need for such nastiness in general. I'd also like to add that this particular complaint only really applies to the two older men (again, sorry for the lack of better description) who work there as everyone else seemed pleasant enough.

On a brighter note the €3 breakfast is a good bargain and the kitchen area/showers are excellent!

I stayed in a private double room with shower. The room was very clean, a bit on the smaller side but not too bad. The shower didn't have a curtain so water tended to get all over the place. There is a bar downstairs with cheap drinks and it stays open very late. Close walk to the train, sight seeing buses, bars, restaurants. Would stay here again.

Vielsprachiges, nettes Personal. Viele Funktionen auf kleinem Platz (Schließfächer, Waschmaschinen), Frühstück ist ordentlich.
Gebäude ist schön gestaltet, allerdings merkt man, wie die Bausubstanz gealtert ist. (Knarzende Böden etc.) Auch als großer, schwerer Mann war es kein Problem, im oberen Etagenbett zu schlafen.

The best thing i can say about this hostel is LOCATION. Located in walking distance to many nightclubs, subway, supermarket, restaurants. Especially one of the best place for Berghain visitors. Wi-Fi was really poor, almost not worked during my stay which is very annoying for me. It ruined all my experience cause i had to go to subway station when i had to have important voice calls on whatsapp every single time. I talked about this with one of the employees and she told me that other guests are also complaining about that but nothing to do with this. And using lockers after check out should not cost money… Cleaning was also not enough in toilets. Rooms and bed was ok.

Zum Glück nur eine Nacht. Das Gemeinschaftsbad war schmutzig und überall Blutflecke, die Matratzen waren komplett durchgelegen, in den Betten war die Füllung nicht richtig verteilt und die Wände zu dünn das man alles hören konnte.

Gute Übernachtungsmöglichkeit für kleines Geld

Das Sunflowerhostel befindet sich in einem Altbau in Sichtweite der Mercedes-Benz-Arena. Allerdings muss man einen Fußweg von ca. 10min in Kauf nehmen, um dort hin zu kommen. Einchecken ist ab 16Uhr möglich, allerdings gegen einen Aufpreis auch eher.
Die Bettwäsche bekommt man für einen Pfand von 5€, die es beim auschecken zurück gibt.

Ich war in einem Schlafsaal und hatte die Wahl, welches Bett ich nehme. Man nimmt das, was frei ist. Die Räume werden mit normalen Schlüsseln betreten und nicht mit Schlüsselkarten.
Es gibt pro Raum nur einen Schlüssel.
D.h. ist man im Zimmer, muss die Tür offen bleiben, damit andere den Raum betreten können. Dies bedeutet aber auch, dass jeder in das Zimmer kann. Der letzte gibt den Schlüssel an der Rezeption ab, verbleibt also im Hostel.
Im Flur befindet sich eine Gemeinschaftstoilette und ein separater Raum mit zwei Waschbecken und zwei Duschkabinen.

Die Betten sind komfortabel und Steckdosen zum laden des Smartphones o.ä. sind ebenfalls vorhanden.
Die Räume wirkten sauber und auch die Bettwäsche war sauber.

Gepäck hatte ich nicht dabei, weswegen ich keine Angaben zu Schränken o.ä. machen kann.

Das Hostel ist als günstiger Schlafplatz zu empfehlen, wenn man z.b. in der Mercedes-Benz-Arena oder Verti Music Hall zu einem Konzert oder anderen Veranstaltung ist.

Udmærket hostel til pengene

Havde 4 overnatninger i et 10-personers værelse. Generelt et velfungerende koncept. Sengen var udmærket, og der var mulighed for bad og opbevaring i aflåste kasser eller rum imod depositum for hængelås. Morgenmadsbuffet tilgængelig, men ikke nogen stor oplevelse. Der er flere lokaliteter i nærheden, som tilbyder bedre morgenmadsalternativer. Alt i alt var jeg meget tilfreds med mit ophold.

Super zentral gelegen. Man kann die U-Bahnstation, einen Rewe, DM oder die East side mall in weniger als 5 min zu Fuß erreichen. Es gibt viele Restaurants und Imbissbuden in der Nähe.
Die Zimmer sind mit allem notwendigem eingerichtet, allerdings waren die mAtratzen schon relativ durchgelegen.
Unten in der Bar lief immer laute Musik und (welche in den Zimmern nicht zu hören war) und es war eine sehr angenehme Atmosphäre.
Das Personal ist super lieb und spricht viele Sprachen.
Man kann hier viele interessante Menschen mit interessanten Geschichten kennenlernen, da unteranderem auch viele Backpacker untergebracht waren.

Unser Aufenthalt

Es war sehr entspannt, da die Lage sehr zentral ist. Trotzdem sehr leise und ruhig. Man kann alles zu Fuß erreichen, zb einen DM, Rewe oder das Astrakulturhaus.
Das Bad ist auch ok, teilweise wurde nicht gespült, aber da kann das Personal ja nichts dafür.
Die Zimmer sind mit allem Notwendigen ausgestattet, jedoch sind die Matratzen relativ durchgelegen.
Das Personal ist auch super lieb und sympathisch. Generell eine sehr angehme und lockere Atmosphäre. In der Bar sind viele Leute von überall her mit vielen Geschichten.

Dissapointing visit after previous amazing ones

This was the third time for me att Sunflower Hostel. Fantastic the other two times bit this time it was bad. Construction workers outside our window working loudly from 7am to 17pm all days except sunday. No ventilation in the room and we had a private shower which was nice but there was all kinds of water damages in the room.
The personell was really rude when they had this girl with long brown hair with dreads. It was like everybody in the personell changed personality when she was around and it was really bad.
To the notice, the other personell was really nice and the people that was rude when she was around were very nice when she wasn’t.
So I guess we were unlucky with the timing.

Clean, cheap, friendly and great commute!

I just stayed at Sunflower Hostel Berlin for one night (Sunday - Monday). The hostel itself looked like a bar from the outside (it's basically a bar and restaurant), so the atmosphere is very friendly and it's easy to socialise with people. The room I stayed in had three beds and a shower, it was clean and the bed was comfortable to sleep in. You had to give €5 in deposit for bed linen and sheets for your stay which I think is fair. You'll get back your deposit when you return the bed linen and sheets.

The personnel at the hostel were very helpful and wanted to make sure you had a great stay.
Unfortunately I broke my iphone-charger as soon as I arrived to the hostel and it was too late to actually go out and buy a new one, so the personnel at the hostel made sure to lend me their personal iphone-charger so I could charge my phone which was a small but a great gesture from their end. Thank you!

All in all, I had a pleasant stay and would recommend people to stay here if they are looking for a clean and cheap hostel in a great location and with good commute.

Sehr angenehme Personen am Empfang ... Check in war einfach und sehr sympathisch
Check in war kurz aber aufgrund der elektronischen Musik nicht schmerzfrei !
Gefrühstückt haben wir nicht, aber schien okay. Kaffee kostet ein 1 extra ...
Kann man machen ...
Muss man aber auch nicht zwingend.
Zimmer waren vollkommen ausreichend für eine Nacht

Amabilidad del personal excelente.
Las condiciones de la habitación, eran deficientes, no había agua caliente y tuve que desplazarme a las duchas comunes. Las camas son incómodas y tuve que solicitar toallas porque la habitación no disponía desde un inicio. No había secador ni ningún aparato electrónico como tv o similar, ni tampoco jabón de manos.

Praktisch, gut gelegen, günstig und angenehm.

Das Hostel ist absolut günstig gelegen und sowohl Ess-/Einkausmöglichkeiten als auch Sehenswürdigkeiten schnell zu erreichen. Das Personal war sehr, sehr freundlich und die Lobby lädt zum Verweilen und internationalen Austausch mit anderen Gästen ein. Die Zimmer sind sauber, praktisch und durch die Wandmalereien interessant gestaltet. Die Gemeinschafts-WCs und -Duschen sauber und ordentlich. Parkmöglichkeiten gibt es vor der Tür, wenn auch nicht kostenfrei.
Der Aufenthalt für mehrere Tage war wirklich angenehm, ohne viel dafür bezahlt haben zu müssen. Würde jederzeit wieder dort buchen.

Hårda sängar men allt man kan förvänta sig av ett hostel, bott här förut och kom tillbaka så ett av de bättre jag bott på i Berlin. Wifi räckte dock inte till vårat rum...

Don’t go to this hostel

My friends and me spent 4 nights in the hostel this month. It doesn’t have a kitchen, there was just a bathroom for 20 people, because there was another one but it was locked. We had a really bad time with Joseph from the staff, who was rude and disrespectful with us. We will definitely not return to this hostel.

Maximal für eine Nacht - wenn überhaupt

Von einem Hostel kann man natürlich nicht allzu viel erwarten, jedoch habe ich mich sehr unwohl gefühlt. Die Möbel und das Zimmer waren verkommen und haben gestunken, die Madratze war verschmutzt. Die allgemeine Sauberkeit der WC- und Duschräume lässt zu wünschen übrig und es war extrem hellhörig. Sowohl den Straßenlärm, als auch die anderen Gäste in ihren Zimmern, auf dem Flur und im Treppenhaus hat man sehr stark gehört.
Wir haben dort für eine Nacht geschlafen, würden jedoch nicht wiederkommen, da wir uns nicht wohl gefühlt haben. Wer damit jedoch leben kann, der kann eine Nacht dort verbringen.
