Already by check in they didn't accept any cash (I lost my wallet one day before). It's not my problem - said the guy at the reception.
Furthermore the rooms look like a pig farm. The security rude and respectless as I lighted my cigarette in front of the entrance door, but themselves were smoking there - must be normal all those things in Berlin...

The hostel is good located close to Ostkreuz station. Many restaurants and markets nearby.
Rooms are simple but ok for a short stay.

I missed the \"s\" in hostel, there were mostly college aged people there. You need to call ahead to reserve the limited on-site parking or use a parking garage a couple of blocks away. There is a lot of graffiti in the surrounding area which was off-putting. There are many eating choices nearby. Despite there being signs requesting quiet after 10pm, there was a group in the courtyard into the early morning hours that was not quiet and the voices carried up the walls. The room was very basic and included 2 small bath towels, no hand towels or wash cloths. Breakfast was good and filling. The experience reminded me of college dorms and the cafeteria. Nothing wrong with it, we just weren't in that mindset when we arrived. The staff was pleasant and helpful and the room was clean. The cleaning staff knocked and immediately opened the door 3 times, starting at 9am, check out time is 11am.

This is a hostel, not a hotel. There were people in our first room- there were 4 beds, and 4 of us, so we were not intended to share. The second room had bed bugs- pulled back the sheets and they were scattering, mature bed bugs present. Staff couldn't give refund at the site, so we are going through expedia. The staff tried to be helpful and i know it was not there fault. They need to have better inspections. I have videos and pictures of the bugs. We did not stay at this accommodation.

The hotel is small place so I tried to go out and sit one chair that the hotel has it. However they say, “ you can not sit outside because this area only people who consume drink or food from the bar can. Then I tried to sit inside and I have the same answer.

Needs to do better for price

No lockers in room is a big no-no in my opinion. Also the phone chargers in my bunk-bed didnt work. Coupled with no new toilet rolls for 6 people in 4 days (yes we ran out halfway & the cleaner I stopped on the corridor just shrugged to say your room isn't on the list for change today)... it's not really enough for a £50 / night stay in a dorm room is it? Oh and they couldn't do a late check-out despite advertising the service. Good location mind

Excellent value, but not for a long stay

It's a hostel rather than a hotel, but it was clean, bathroom was ok
Staff were really friendly and the bar area was nice. Breakfast was great and tasty so all good.
I got a single room and at 6'2, it was small, but as a bed to crash, not a problem.
Definitely great value if you're travelling alone or with a couple of friends for a weekend in a great city

Couldn't wait to leave!

This would have to be the worst place we have stayed. Hallways smelled like wet dog. We were on the 4th floor so not as bad up there but still an odd smell. We didn't have all the linen we needed for our room and the pillows were just lumpy messes. We had to ask for access for the kitchen but were not told you could get pots and pans from reception. There were about 3 plates in the kitchen so we figured you needed your own gear since it was a hostel. All our food was stolen out of the fridge anyway. Our keycards continually stopped working and reception seemed annoyed we were locked out on multiple occasions. Not our fault?! Tried to do laundry, downloaded the app, loaded credit card but couldn't even get the machines to turn on. Staff had no idea and didn't seem to care anyway. Couldn't wait to leave - the pictures look nothing like the room you actually get.

Firstly, this is a hostel, not a hotel which is something that should be mentioned in the name in the listing.
Secondly, the room look nothing like the one displayed on the photo in the listing.
Thirdly, every member of staff we encountered was either bored to death, showing 0 interest in the job, or plain rude.
First foom we were assigned had bunch of hair left in the bed after not optimal cleaning. Room we got instead had a clean bed, but imprins of shoe soles on the walls and overall feel was not great.
There's no kettle at the room, but you can purchase drinks in the 'lobby' - reception area filled with vending machines of all sorts.
Everything in the hostel is done to appear nice on the photos, but in reality it's totally impersonal, cold and has no vibe whatsoever.
I'd say perfect if you wanna hang with bros drinking around east Berlin, not ideal if you book with your partner

No good. From check-in to leaving, not good.

The hotel is in the middle of a very busy area with very little parking. We didn’t reserve one of their very few parking spots, so on the last day of our trip, when we had to leave super early the next morning, I had to park almost a mile away. The check-in attendant wasn’t nice at all. She seemed to be almost perturbed that people were checking in. The beds were ok, but nothing great. Room was quite crammed and the bathroom door couldn’t be locked, which is an issue. I definitely wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Terrible staff, over charged and no refund!!

Staff aren’t friendly and couldn’t be bothered dealing with guests. We were charged for towels and bed sheets despite them being included in our room. Asked for a refund which I still not have received and had to give my bank details to staff as it “was the only way to receive a refund”. They then tried to say it was our fault that we were charged extra for bed sheets and towels we didn’t need. This place is an absolute scam with rude staff who bitched about us in German thinking we didn’t understand.

If budget is your first priority, this place is great. A room that sleeps 4 for $68 a night is hard to beat! It was clean and staff were helpful. There are a ton of reasonably priced restaurants of all kinds within walking distance, and the train station is a six minute walk, with connections to anywhere you’d want to go.

That being said, it is a hostel, so there are no shortage of twenty something’s here and enjoy themselves sometimes late into the evening. While we found the guys’ rendition of Adele’s “Someone like you” being belted out at 11pm amusing, if you are looking for a quiet retreat this is probably not the best fit for you. Overall a great place for the price.

I would not stay here again personally. It's the noisiest hotel and isn't helped by the beer garden atmosphere of the lower courtyard. People will be chatting and drinking all night long unless it rains. The rooms have no ventilation and because it's so loud outside you don't want to have the windows open. The staff is really nice and the rooms are clean and in decent condition though. So if you are not staying to sleep it should not be a problem.

In general I liked the stay at this place, especially counting low price. I liked the location, nice staff
But I may complain on early cleaning, at the time a slept so during all our stay the room haven't been cleaned.
The sheets were clean not full of some black hair... That was weird and kinda disgusting.
And the difference between check in and ckech out time is 5 hours, too much. Would be really nice if they make check in at least at 12 and check out at 14.

The rooms were newly renovated. Kids liked the new bunks. Close to shops and restaurants.
There was no parking available so took me about an your to find one in the dark on a Saturday night. It says parking available on website but apperently that was full. The place is very noise. We stayed in a family room and opposite us was a group of young people partying all night before leaving at mit night and then partying again from 4am onwards. Sleep went out the window that night. Not a good place to stay as a family.

Really good value 2 night stay in Berlin. Room was clean and beds v comfy! basic but clean bathroom facility (only downside was hot water seems to run-out a bit later in the evenings, so luke-warm shower) Very friendly and helpful staff- we paid 10€ for late check-out (2pm as opposed to 10am) but didn’t need it after all, was refunded without question. Nice on site bar, vending facilities and 24h lockers for suitcases on checkout day for just €2. In the lovely Friedrichshain district, a stones throw from lots of great bars, restaurants and trendy cafes- lots of vegan cafes around too. Only 5 min walk from Ostkreuz station too, so excellent transport links. Stayed here for the Berlin marathon and it was just perfect for our needs- would def book here again!!

The place is without elevator, so travelers with pieces of heavy luggage should prepare to carry them up to their rooms through the staircase. It would be nice if a kettle could be available in the room.

We paid extra for linen, but we weren’t even given this linen for like 8 hours after our check in. We had to put on the linen on the beds ourselves. And we couldn’t even choose not to use because they wouldn’t allow us to not use linen. Also a bag was stolen from our room. The lockers were kinda small and the little hole for the lock to go through was too small for our locks. The shower was absolutely tiny. Overall a terrible stay.

Location was fantastic. A few negatives that need some work.
1. I stayed 11 nights. I had to reactivate my room card key 8 times. I have no idea why, it just kept deactivating. The problem was, I was on the 3rd floor, so every time this happened, I had to walk all the way down and then back up again... Very frustrating.

2. When I went to do my laundry on my last evening at 9p, I was told that the laundry room was closed and that the hours were 8a-8p. There were NO SIGNS posted, no information given, or no notices regarding these hours of operation. I raised a bit of a stink and they eventually relented and let me in... Still, a hassle due to their lack of signage.

3. The rooms are tiny, and they stuff all these bunk beds into them. There were 3 bunk beds in my room. 6 people, and the rooms were very small... No place to put anything... Very, very cramped, stuffy and smelly... NOT GOOD.

4. \"Kitchen\" was a joke. It wasn't even a kitchen. It was a closet with a hot plate, a small pot and a few forks. Oh and a tiny portable fridge. The hostel itself itself is huge... many many rooms a tons of space... Why they can't construct a functioning kitchen is beyond me...

But, location was great...

The room is acceptable and is an affordable place to stay in Berlin. The only problem is that there is no air ventilation in the room. At night we want to keep the door closed, and there is no air movement so the room was miserably hot. The other times of the year are probably better.

A little too pricey for this.

We loved the big room with tall windows. The plastic matresses were uncomfortable and the doublebed was two beds put aside which moved around. We asked for cleaning twice during our 4 nights stay, it didn't happen at all.
It was quiet though and the staff at the reception was nice.

I loved the service people at the hotel. They helped me navigate the problem that Hotels.com actually forced me to pay for 2 people for two nights, even though i was a solo traveler. I explained that every time i went to try and change my reservation, the internet site operated by Hotels.com would not allow the button that said \"change reservation to work\"....they insisted I call the US phone number which was impossible for to do from Europe without any phone service. The kindenss offered by the front desk people helped diminsh the pain of having to spend so much extra money for nothing!

The are is ideal if you wanna see the alternative (bars/clubs/culture) part of Berlin. But is not that close to the city center (although is 5 mins away from a huge train station with good connections)
The hotel is separetly from the hostel, only the reception area is the same.
Recommenden even though isn't cheap.

Hotel was basic but had everything we required and the staff were friendly and helpful (and spoke very good English). It's location near to several nice cafes and small restaurant as well as a supermarket. Five minutes walk to Ostkreuz S-Bahn station with easy links to the centre of Berlin and Schonefeld airport.

We are a family of 4 with teenagers. Room was very clean. Curtains could be longer as let in a lot of street light. Street quite noisy with trams etc. Staff very efficient. Breakfast included cereals, toast, juice, tea and coffee,cold meats and cheese, fruit, boiled eggs. Five minutes walk from Ostkreuz S-bahn. Pizza/pasta place outside very cheap and good. Lidl and off-licence a few minutes away.

Good value for the room price

We spent a night here in January before getting a flight home. The location is excellent - a few stops down the S-Bahn from the Hauptbahnhof. It is very well placed for nightlife too with many restaurants and bars in the vicinity.

We opted to take single rooms rather than dorms, so I couldn't comment on the quality of those - however, the single rooms were clean, modernly furnished and generally very good. The en-suite bathroom was also clean and had toiletries etc.

The rooms were secure with both access to the rooms and accommodation block secured with RF Keys.

The reception was large and had a 24-hour bar/snack place attached to it. It did get busy when checking out though so if you are in a hurry to get somewhere be sure to get down to checkout with plenty of time to spare.

Overall for the very reasonable price, this was a good option in Berlin, which can be a pricey place to stay - and I would recommend it.
