Reasonable price but booking problems.

Although I was in an 8 bed dorm with a youth group aged 11 to 14 I was not as surprised as they were when I moved in. As retired teacher I was used to children like them but they went quiet when I walked into the dorm. The youth leader tried to get me moved out but this was the only bottom bunk in the massive modern Generator Hostel.
As a parent I would be horrified to know that my children were in a hostel dorm with a stranger.

The hostel was close to the Landerburg Allee train, tram and bus stops.
I could even see the train station from the window but could not hear the trains

Rooms aren’t bad, good size and our a had a sink which was great. Bedding is limited and the pillows aren’t great. I would say it’s a pretty loud place. The train is right beside the building (although a plus side of being able to get downtown quick) The doors for all the rooms slam when closed so you hear that all day and night. I was hearing bangs and bumps above and below me as wall. Bring earplugs for sure.
Washrooms are clean and have lots of room, but they are oddly sized. You literally have to open the door to get up from the toilet. The showers have good pressure but are small as well.

The staff were atrocious. I was fined $500 for 'Smoking' - if smoking is classed as a drag of a vape pen and worth that amount then well.... I'm unsure what to say. The toilets and showers were a long walk. The noise at night from all the doors slamming shut was unbearable. In the end I got 'Banned' from the property, whilst very poorly and I feel they neglected their duty of care.

Big hotel & nice staff, whiling to help with their mess. Had to switch rooms 3 times because #1 was dirty with other people stuff still in there. #2 had hair on the bed, no curtains to block sun hitting us & floor was dirty but we could manage but the bathrooms on the floor had mold on shower curtains and floor and reeked of urine. Everything can be heard, ppl talking, in the hallway, playing music. They charge for everything towels, soap, shampoo etc. If u stay here get a private room with private bathroom!

good location

still undergoing construction. long lines during check-in. i got double charge—my stay was already paid-for, but i got charged again. cold—there was no heat even though the weather had turned cold. the showers and toilet stalls are too small. one elevator was broken the entire week of my stay. the other elevator was incredibly slow. not only did housekeeping use the single elevator, but so did tue construction crew, which constantly moved equipment in and out. 3 of the 4 vending machines were broken. good location, though.

The Generator Hostels all across Europe are super good but beware of this one! The staff is super rude and doesn't listen to you, they are so racist and always finding a way to make your stay more and more uncomfortable, they always overbook the hostel, and then they keep you waiting for 12 12 hours!

Good price and location, but very loud

Overall it was okay. Very good price for 3 nights in Berlin. We loved the free parking spot in front of the hostel. It was also very convenient to have the S-Bahn so close. We liked ensuite bathroom.
But it was very loud at night because the room faced the side where the bar is. Also the doors are so heavy that you hear people entering and leaving their rooms. This woke us up very early and kept us up for the following hours.

Clean and convenient

Basic rooms but very clean and the staff were helpful. It's right next to a tram stop and metro stop so easy access into the centre of town. We stayed in a twin room which was very small but otherwise fine. Be warned that although the website says towels are provided in private room when we arrived staff at the desk informed us that they were only provided in some of the private rooms (?)

OK but not the best Generator.

I had to make the beds as the linens were not even put under the mattresses in properly.
Hand soap in the shower, normally special \"all around\" in Hamburg Generator.
No soap at all for the hands (unless you reached for it in the shower)
Other than that it was all good, the lobby was like Generator in Hamburg but did not get a chance to eat here sadly. Food looked good though.
A little annoying with only 1 working elevator but thats what happens sometimes. Thanks.

Very nice for the price!

I stayed at a single room with 2 beds and own bathroom.
For the price it is a very nice place, everything you need, nothing more, but at a very low rate as well.
The lounge area is nice and you can meet some great people while travelling.
The rooms are very basic and quite small, but for a place to keep your stuff and have a bed to sleep in, it's perfect.

This hostel was worst hostel in my life. They didn’t change my bed sheets before I check in.
Bed was so dirty. My bed had a lot of garbage, blood and knife. I couldn’t believe this experience.
I asked another tourist “what is your bed condition? “ Everybody say “Dirty “
I canceled next day and I rebooked another hostel.
If someone read my reviews, you should book another hostel.

The location was quite convenient, located near by one S train staion and one tram station. Overall, the whole facility looks old. The elevator functioned only one of them! For 6-7 floors building, this was quite an issue! We booked the quadruple room, two bunk beds. The room was ooay in general. The cleanliness was kind of an issue though. The bed and floor were clean, but the wall and shelf were dusty. The sink in the room had problem with drainage. The bathroom and shower room were below par if compare with other Generator Hostel we’ve been before.

The staffs were nice as always with Generators. They were kind and helpful.

Avoid this hotel

An early arrival saw us ignored by a member of staff who couldn’t be bothered even looking up from his computer to acknowledge us. Returning later, our room was not unclean but facilities were less than impressive. A not so pleasant surprise was that we had to pay for towels (€5 each) and basic toiletries. I’ve never experienced this, and a warning when booking would have been nice.
Our first evening was spent laying awake as fellow guests slammed doors, running between rooms screaming, fighting and shifting furniture. Management did nothing to ensure the comfort of all paying guests. Out of desperation we searched for nearby alternative accomodation mid way through our stay.
Unless you plan on getting blackout drunk or enjoy participating in 4am brawls, I advise to avoid considering this “hotel” option at all cost.

It took an hour and a half to check in. By the time I got to my room, housekeeping hadn't gone to it yet. It was disgusting. They also seemed to only have one semi operating elevator and being on the 7th floor, I was able to take the elevator maybe 25% of the time. The second night, my card stopped working and then my friends in a different room had their room given to another group. This hostel is incredibly unorganized and inefficient. The water also smelled like sulfur.

The property is good in location and is as described. But on one. Of the nights (4 September) some 50-75 young school kids checked in and turned the hostel into a fish market. They started howling, drinking and playing. Loud music suddenly at around 10 pm, for a couple of. Hours the. Hostel. Staff was clueless or didn't want to react. After they got. Into. Control. Those young kids went outside the hostel howling again. All. This went till around 2am in the morning.

It’s exactly like camping and its (camping’s) facilities. Was a little disappointed by the cleanliness as the rooms were covered in dust and the floor and walls need a good clean. Also we had a bunk bed instead of two seperate beds, which I was quite disappointed with. Overall, it was a good stay.

The place is a mess, theres like 10 employees for 300 guests.they never clean my room (and I stayed 4 nights). The showers as well, they are always dirty and stinvk sk bad.in adition no AC or fan so the heat is so stron, pkus the smell of sweet, pis, poo, ugh.Worst part wifi does not work all the time, and neither elevators or laundry machines.

Good place to stay on a budget

This was my first time staying at a hostel. I chose a single room instead of shared room which I think was best for me. My one and only complaint about this place was that the guests are very loud and obnoxious throughout the night. If you are young and enjoy partying then this place is probably great. One room down the hall from me was throwing a party with the door open despite there being a bar downstairs. I came to Berlin to enjoy the city (which I did!) but had trouble sleeping a couple nights because of the noise throughout the hostel. I would likely consider staying here again because it's very affordable and fulfilled the rest of my basic needs.

The hostel is good, the room was cleaned.
Just had a problem as we booked a double room with private bathroom but when we got there we found a room with just a sink in it. The guy at the reception tried to find another room for us but they were fully booked. He said he couldn’t do a refund as we booked through Expedia and not directly with them so he offered us free breakfast for the morning after which was good!
Good for a short stay!
Shared bathroom are cleaned.

Disappointing for a Generator

My experiences with Generator have always been pleasant eg in Paris & Hamburg. This establishment however was terrible. Hundreds of children running down the corridor outside our room screaming, they had no ear defenders to help combat this, blood stains on the bedding and uncomfortable beds to say the least. Possibly try the other Generator situated more central.

4 Nights in Berlin

We had a twin room with shower on the first floor. Changing sheets daily was an extra charge, but we knew that in advance. Breakfast options were reasonable, and bar prices (including food) were low by hotel standards.

The location is excellent for public transport - next to the Ring S-bahn and trams to Alexanderplatz and the Hauptbahnhof.

This place is aimed at young people and school/college groups. However, as retired people we found it an excellent low cost location for a 4 night stay.

i reserved a private room, It is really below expectations and you do not receive any thing for money. only a bed with dirty sheets. coffee and drinks vending machines are expensive. very basic breakfast will cost 6 euro. there is a burger king in the other side of the street. a train station. it will take you around 30 mins to reach any destination.

Value is really poor. Our private room was small and narrow, dirty and no toiletries/hair dryer provided. You can get better prices and way better accommodation in Berlin than this. In the morning they were rushing for checkout time (which is supposed to be at 10) for a 60 Euro shabby room.

Others' nails on bed and hairs on floor.

I really like the interior design, and the shower water was nice, everything was good until I found nails on bed, how disgusting that was! I was sure the nails were not mine or my friend's, we didn't bring a nail clipper. Later my friend told me he found hairs on floor which obviously belong to others because of the colour. So there were no doubt they even didn't clean the room . And the reception staff were not friendly.

This is the worst generator hostel I have ever seen and one of the worst hostels I've stayed at period. The place is very dirty! The maids are rude, but the front desk staff is friendly but clueless sometimes. The neighborhood is boring and run down. The mattresses are very hard and I woke up sore every morning. If the place had been clean the other stuff wouldn't have been too big of a deal. But this place is seriously dirty. The only cleaning done in the bathrooms is a restock of the toilet paper. Nothing was actually cleaned the entire time I was there. There are signs saying they care about cleanliness and to let them know if something needs cleaned. Best I can figure, the signs are some kind of satirical art installation and not actual notices. Bring flip flops and if something touches the floor anywhere in this place, just consider it trashed and move on. If I ever stay here again I will get two beds; one for me and one for the guy holding a gun to my head.

Amazing staff and location- grubby rooms

Ratio of girls and boys in room was off. I was the only girl at one point in a room with 7 MEN. Floor was dirty and looks like the cleaning staff were never in our room except to make the beds up for the next person coming to stay. Only one light source so if people wanted to sleep and you wanted to read or sort out your case/bag, you couldnt put on an individual light to not disturb those sleeping.

Apart from this the hostel had great staff (absolutely fantastic staff in bar and front desk! So helpful and lovely to chat to!) , great bar, lounge area and more. I've stayed in my generator hostels and this one to me is the one that would have even more potential if it had a revamp in the rooms. it would really match the quality in the rest of the hostel .

But if you are like me and when you travel you only use the bed at night and the shower in the morning this hotel is for you.

Great place to get to and from the airport and to hit all the interesting and beautiful spots of Berlin without the loud tourists!

For the price we paid it was really good hostel, I wasn't expecting much from it if I'm honest but it was very nice. The food was very good too and a cheap price along with cheap drinks to go with it. Would definitely recommend!

Keep in mind this is a Hostel. That being said the facilities are rather nice and up to date. The shared bathrooms were clean and up to date. The rooms have a small sink in them and lockers. Since all the facilities are in order the biggest factor in your stay is who you stay with. The bigger your group the more the odds of a good stay are in your favor. If you're by yourself than the odds of you getting stuck with a group bad group is higher lol.

Only 1 night, but it was a nice one

I arrived in Berlin before my partner, so I stayed the night in this hostel before meeting him the next day at our hotel. It was easy to get to from the airport, very clean and great people in the room (although, technically, the hostel didn't have any control over the roommates...!). The others had stayed in Generator hostels in other cities and said they were all as good. I hope to try them out later!

Ideal base for exploring Berlin. Great value.

3 night stay in the hotel. We found it a great base for exploring with its location adjacent to Landsberger Allee train station. We opted for a twin room with en suite facilities. It was clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful on our arrival. There are fast food outlets and cafe's all within a short walk. We didn't use the hotel catering facilities so can't comment. The prices displayed seemed very reasonable. During our stay the one drawback was the noise coming from building work on adjacent premises. There was no air-con in the room so in the warm weather we had the window open which obviously didn't help, but overall not a big issue. The room was ideal for our purposes and we would recommend it to the traveller on a budget.

We got a room for 4 people with a private bathroom. The only nice thing was that the staff at the desk was friendly. The bathroom was the tiniest thing I've ever seen. You could barely fit one person in the shower. I would hit my elbows and such while washing myself and I had to place my products outside the shower on the sink because there was nowhere to place them. The cleaning lady only asked to clean twice out of the four days we stayed. Once, a friend accidentally told the lady no to cleaning and I went outside to ask her for a broom at least and she rudely said no, they only had a vacuum and she was not going to go back to our room although she had barely began on the next one. The breakfast they offer is not worth the money! It is unbearably bland and cheap. You'd be better off paying the same thing out in the city. The worst part of the place was that they put the address of the hostel on their keys, this enabled people that found our key to go to the hostel and somehow find which room we stayed in and we were robbed of many high priced items.

The staff spoke good english and they were really nice to us, the check-in and check-out was smooth.
The hostel has a bar, restaurant, and it is really close to the subway.
The room was not big, but it was clean and had everything we needed for a two night stay.
We were glad we paid extra for the breakfast because it was delicious and had a variety of foods.

Get what you pay for and more

I wasn't expecting much from staying in a hostel but was pleasantly surprised. For starters it is right next to the S Bahn station so easy to get to. Staff were very friendly, especially in the bar and spoke English well which was a bonus. The bedroom was simple, I was in an 8 bed dorm. They were bunk beds but were surprisingly comfortable. There was a locker there for each bed but your own padlock is required (which you can pick up cheap from reception). What really blew me away was the onsite bar. Complete was pool table, boxing machine, table football and xbox 360 with kinect for sports games it has plenty you can do of an evening before heading out into the city. Drinks and food are very reasonably priced too especially during the 5pm-7pm happy hour.

The only complaint I have of the place is out of the 7 showers on my floor, only one was working. The rest all had bits of the shower missing. Wasn't a big deal though as I just went to the next floor down where they were all working. No attachments though to fit the shower in so you have to hold it which is a bit fumbly.

It is a hostel and that is what you get

Stayed here for a gig that was happening in Velodrom. Pretty convenient location for that and is super cheap to stay so I was mostly happy. However the capsule bathroom resembled the one of airplains' and had a single serving bar of soap and nothing else (no cups, no hair dryer) and cleanliness was not the best I've seen. The building is not new and despite trying to look \"hip\" it is very much a typical backpackers' hostel, even if you stay in non-dormitory room. People partying till early hrs of the day and that alcohol not allowed in the room etc. was a bit too much for me who have done those things at least 15 yrs ago.

Generator Hostel Prenzlauer

I had a great time, everything went smoothly and the staff were very helpful.

My room was clean and exactly as described, with great views of the TV tower.

It was also very easy to get to the hostel from the public transport, which is always great

Three nights in private room

Quite far from the city centre
Expensive room rates
€6 for the towels
€1 deposit for the glass in the bar.
Unable to check in from 14pm. We had to wait almost until 15pm.
Liked the atmosphere and music at the bar. Maybe because New Year was coming.

Wonderful Hotel for budget travellers

Friendly staffs, nice location, cheap price, best choice for budget travellers. Although the room and toilets are not as clean as I expected, I'm sure that its worth recommending for others .

Good for a Hostel

I'm starting to get too old for hostel, personally. But as far as hostels go, this one is pretty good. It's clean, the rooms are fairly large, and it's located right near a tram and a train stop.

Very typical hostel.

45 min. wait in line to check in. Nice staff member. Huge hostel geared towards partyers. Single occupancy room was cheap, clean, and comfortable. Wifi barely reached room with poor signal. Had to close windows to sleep despite summer heat due to noise in courtyard, although this was not very loud. Brits in hallways were VERY loud--woke me up with earplugs multiple times--from 1 am to 3 am. Very typical hostel experience in big city. Not bad at all, but with a plane flight early the next morning and just wanting a place to sleep, not very satisfying even with the private room.

Cheap and cheerful hostel

Akin to basic university halls but with bunk beds (and cleaner). Hotel staff were excellent, happy to provide directions and generally cheerful.
Take a towel or pay €6 to borrow one (€2 rebate on return of the towel). Bar was well-stocked and reasonably priced as nothing nearby stays open late.
Didn't try the food but it smelt good! Showers are a bit cranky so make sure you set the temp before getting in.
My dorm was mixed so bear that in mind. Take a small padlock for the room lockers and save €3 by not buying one!
Make sure you go to the right Generator Berlin hostel because there are several in the city. I was at \"East\" and saw some people roll up who had booked for \"Central\".

Great place for short stays and travels

Really good little hotel/hostel, good atmosphere, stylish and the staff were friendly and very helpful to me when navigating the city. Would recommend this to anybody travelling.

All this place needs is decent wifi!

Comfy bed, decent showers, great bar with excellent food and on two main stations with excellent access to the whole city. All that is missing is reliable wifi - the only place you can get it is in the foyer or bar, and it's painfully slow. Apart from that, it's a great place to stay!

great place to stay close to s-bahn station, tram - very good connection with downtown, or even walk. you can rent bikes and ride the whole city. nice rooms and very helpful, friendly staff

The staff is friendly and will help you with any information you need. Right next to the S bahn, can't get any better than this in Berlin!
