We've been going here for years and would highly recommend. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The rooms are spotless and its a quiet street. They have snacks and cold drinks to buy if need to. Train and underground is a 5 min walk. Plenty of shops and restaurants in the area.

From the staff to the hotel and bedrooms everything was excellent. Love the incentive that if you dont need your bedroom cleaned they offer you a snack or drink. Nice touches in the bedroom like tea/coffee maker, free water, safe, fridge and bathroom toiletries. All in all it was fabulous and highly recommend

Staff were lovely and accomidating, definitely not a four star hotel though. The property being in the east of berlin makes it not ideally located if youre hoping to do touristy activites( that is on myself for not checking the location) and the building itself might be more attractive with a pool or something. We had a comfortable stay but for the price paid i expected more.

The hotel location was perfect for my needs. The staff is wonderful, especially the cleaning one. The breakfast is great, enough of options, and they're open to requests. The only bad thing about the hotel, especially in the rooms, is that the old, stained, stained carpet, including a smell of old or cigarettes, when the air is still, but I know it's a decision of the owner of the hotel or the corporation whose runs it, and not of the staff of the day. Thank you.

Good hotel , helpful staff . Have stayed in this area before , it’s a bit out of town but plenty of restaurants within a 20 minute walk and good transport connections to the centre of Berlin again probably only 20 minutes away. Area can seem bit unsafe at first glance but all is ok when you get used to it.

What a fantastic hotel! I booked through Expedia for a party of 9 people for a New Year’s Eve trip and this hotel was so reasonably priced for its location. It’s only a 5-10 minute walk from the subway which takes you to all the major attractions throughout Berlin as well as the airport which made it very easy for such a large group to travel together. Whilst we were located on separate floors, the rooms were still very comfortable and clean. This is a BED BUG FREE hotel and the bathroom was also clean. We were room only, however there is a supermarket across the road and little cafes at the shopping centre near the subway station. The best thing about this hotel though is the lovely little Italian restaurant which is attached to it! I 100% recommend trying it if you’re staying at the hotel. The staff were very friendly and I would definitely stay here again.

Convenient location near the U Bahn and along the main road into the city. Frankfurter Allee stop is near where there is a mall and lots of food options. Room was spacious and comfortable, but could have been better if there were more chairs and a small table, and if the air conditioning worked, it got quite warm in the room. Otherwise, it was a very pleasant stay

We had a superior room which was very spacious. Everything was super except the bed was a little too firm for us. Also, the shower doors leaked so thank goodness we had extra towels to put down on floor. Our room was very quiet considering we were across from elevators and on the road side. Breakfast was good. Wifi was good. There was a shopping mall in walking distance and 2 U-bahn stops. Hotel staff excellent and friendly!!!

Stayed in a superior room which is much better than the standard room I have had before. Has tea and coffee and is bigger. Building work opposite start at 7am so can be a nuisance if your room is at the front. Staff were all helpful and spoke good English. Usual bag drop off and could keep the room until 12 noon. Took note of my special request which often doesn't happen. There is a sauna.Close to the U and S lines and one change needed from Schoenfeld airport. Didn't have breakfast and local cafés near by. No proper lounge area. If you need to be in east Berlin this is fine but not close to the centre.

Not the first time we have stayed here and won't be the last, great location within the city, close to all public transport and getting in to the city is easy.

Great staff who alway do their best to cater for my disabled wife, clean rooms as always and looking forward to returning at the end of November for another visit.

Gentleman at the front desk that works during the day is fantastic. Great value for the money. The Italian restaurant downstairs is excellent A bit away from Alexanderplatz but still a great deal I would give this five stars for a 4 star hotel. Bathtubs are narrow.

Not a 4 star hotel.

The staff were not welcoming at all. Despite the fact I had called ahead and arranged an early check in (at a surcharge) I spent 4 hours waiting for a room. At no stage were the staff engaging, welcoming or courteous. The hotel restaurant was pathetic to say the least. The staff were rude, the meals were cold and even asking for the bill was a hassle. I would never recommended this hotel to a friend.

All I would say is and this is by no means a mark down but the only thing that was missing was a kettle and cups in the room instead of having to go to reception to buy tea or coffee.

Berlin is a large city, impossible to get anywhere without relying on public transport or driving, and the hotel was a bit more out of the way than I would have liked. The distance is reflected in the price however and it's only a few minutes walk from the U-bahn and S-bahn so not as bad as it could have been.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel over the festive period 2015 and loved it! Upon arrival there was a problem with our booking but the concierge made us feel at ease and arranged everything ASAP and showed us to our room. He also suggested some places for us to go on New Year's Eve and talked us through the journey to the city centre via U-Bahn. (Which is SO simple!) There's a thriving mainstreet just around the corner if you didn't want to go to Alexanderplatz every day AND about 20 minutes walk away there is a VEGAN donner kebab shop! The hotel itself looked great from the outside and was quite cosy in the rooms, although it did get a bit chilly at night. The beds were great and the covers and pillows (which are feathers, just so people are aware- I know some don't like feathers) were so soft and warm. There were also two lounge chairs by the window with foot rests that were where we spent most of our time relaxing and reading. Overall a great stay and I would recommend to a friend due to it’s convenient location and general cleanliness.

Decent hotel with one big problem

Most of the basics were fine. Courteous front desk, easy check in, clean room, AC was a nice plus. Straightforward and simple.

The big problem is this hotel's attitude about WIFI. They offer a Free WIFI connection and an Enhanced (premium?) plan. The Free WIFI is awful and time-consuming to use. I am talking about basic use (maps, websites, images), not even trying to watch streaming movies. I think the practice of giving guests the expectation of free Internet, for the guest to find out that the Internet is borderline-unusable unless they want to pay more, is a questionable and dishonest business practice. In 2015, WIFI is basic infrastructure. Much like one would not charge extra for 'enhanced lighting' or 'enhanced water cleanliness,' WIFI should be provided at a reasonable standard of quality.

If this means the hotel needs to increase their room rates to keep a healthy bottom line, then they should raise their room rates.

We've had amazing experiences (NH Florence) and less than wonderful experiences (NH Napoli) with this chain. With regard to our stay in the NH Berlin City Ost, nothing was so bad as to warrant a complaint, but the room wasn't particularly clean, there was actually paper trash and toenail trimmings on the carpet, the bed wasn't flat; the mattress needed replacement, and the air conditioning only made the room less than hot, despite the thermostat being set to the absolute coldest temperature. It was obvious that it was an older property that needed remodeling. That having been said, it was relatively inexpensive, and was a quick walk to a Ubahn station.

Nice friendly hotel in convenient location

The hotel staff was very friendly and spoke English well. Our room was clean and comfortable. The hotel restaurant is very good for breakfast and for dinner as well. It is a bit expensive for lunch since the menu is the same as the dinner menu. The location is conveniently located near the train and subway station at Frankfurter Allee. We walked with our rolling bags from the station to the hotel. It is about a 5-10 min walk.

Ideal for family visit

Stayed here whilst visiting family, who live just 2 minutes from the hotel. Marked 4/5 for Condition of hotel - would have been 5/5 but some carpets a bit stained, and shower curtain a bit grubby - otherwise all good. Didn't have breakfast this time, but did on last visit - excellent! Hotel is 5 minute walk from large shopping centre and both U-bahn and S-bahn stations. U-bahn direct to Alexanderplatz. Very satisfied with service from hotel staff. Free Wi-fi good. We will be using this hotel again, and very happy to recommend for others.

This is the second NH hotel I've stayed in. Both have been really clean and comfortable. The only grief I have is that you have to get a new wifi password every day and it times out if you use more than a certain amount of data - an amount which isn't that significant.

All fine except of overpriced breakfast

The hotel was basic but fine. Rooms are clean, staff o.k., some better, some without proper English. However, room had no kettle but after asking for one, they brought one up. They are trying to sell the breakfast for 17.50 pp or reduced by arrival for 12.50. Both is far too expensive, considering that you get a nice made-up roll around the corner plus cup of tea and cake for for 8 Euros (2 people) just down the road in the shopping center. The location is great, close to Alex and hip areas. Road a bit loud so... They also have a sauna which was great, too. About 5 to 6 people fit in... We enjoyed our stay and had no major problems with exception of pickpockets near Brandenburg gate.

The hotel was genreally fine, staff were helpful and spoke a few different languages, The two biggest issues were that the rooms were very stuffy, the fan/air conditioning wasnt working well enough to keep the room with a good temperature, so we had to keep the windows open all night. which leads to the problem of the noise on the front side of the hotel which would start at 7am and finish at 9am. This may just be a temporarey issues since a street is being repaired.
If I were not staying there is winter I might stay there again, but never again in summer.

Hotel far from city center.

I booked this hotel using the surprise offer of Expedia; I won't be doing it again, because although it is a 4 star hotel, it doesn't feel like: room is small, except for CNN and BBC, tv only in German. Breakfast is expensive at 17 euros p/person. Overnight is expensive for the service offered; I'm sure I'd get the same service fin a 3 star hotel, which would have cost me at least 20,00 euros less per day. Next time I will choose the hotel myself, instead of using the surprise feature of Expedia, which really surprised me, I was waiting to be pleased with it so that I'd try this experience more often, but I won't repeat it.

Definitely not 4-star!

Don't waste your money staying here and paying \"4-star hotel\" prices. This hotel is on-par with an Ibis hotel and below the standard of a Premier Inn.

Small rooms which are in urgent need of refurbishment. Rooms are advertised with \"complimentary in-room coffee or tea\", however no kettle in our room. Reception provided one on request with a limited number of teabags and coffee sachets etc, HOWEVER these were not replenished whatsoever during our four-night stay.

Curtains let in a lot of light, which woke us up during the early hours.

Also the bed sheets were not changed at all during the length of our stay. Not only this but housekeeping ignored our \"do not disturb\" sign and tried to gain entry into our room one morning.

The rooms are advertised to provide free WiFi, however the internet access was extremely slow to the extent it would take an absolute age to do basic things such as checking email. It was so slow we stopped bothering after a day of being there.

Rooms advertised as \"air conditioned\", however the machine only blows room-temperature air. Unable to open window throughout the night due to noise so very hot and uncomfortable sleep.

Room overlooked an office block. Extremely depressing - had to keep curtains drawn at all times (see photo).

Very disappointing indeed.

Great hotel with with some shortcomings

Good location and a reasonable price level for three days. Reception staff was very helpful and the room was always nice and clean. Could not get the safe deposit to work because instructions were only in german. Visited the restaurant very briefly - Waiter/hosts seemed very unfriendly so we found another place to enjoy our meal. Free wifi in all rooms, but at the 5th floor the signal was so poor, that we could not connect. Free parking on a nearby public parking area. But all in all, a very pleasant stay,

Perfect location!

This hotel was a complete and wonderful surprise! While it is a long way if you are coming in from Tegel airport (and the local U-station stop was temporarily down for service), it was perfect for seeing the sights of the former East Berlin. Easy walk to anywhere. Being ex-military, I've seen it all, so this recommendation doesn't come lightly.

Clean hotel, close to facilities

Very impressed with the room. We stayed 4 nights in one at the top floor, it was quite small but this made it cosy for a couple, the bathroom was perfect, the blinds were very efficient against the light in the morning, the bed very comfortable - overall very clean and cosy. Only problem was the air conditioning - very inefficient/useless, which made it get very uncomfortably warm in the room at times. The staff at reception was helpful but not particularly friendly (on the verge of unfriendly in fact). After seeing the standards of the room, I was very disappointed with the hotel restaurant - food was average (found a bit of plastic in my sauce) and service wasn't particularly friendly. Walking to the centre takes about an hour, otherwise both tubes stations are a 5 minute walk away. A big shopping centre nearby offers everything you need on a rainy day, from food and drinks to clothes and electronics. Overall I would give a big + for the room (forgetting the disfunctional air conditioning), +/- for service, and a big - for the noise coming from outside in the morning (as early as 6am until about 10h30), it woke us up every morning and was very loud. I'm guessing they were only temporary works so I don't wish anyone else to experience them so early in the morning on a romantic break for two.

I stayed for one night only during a short trip.
The room was clean an the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was very clean. The hotel is 10 minutes from Alexanderplaz via metro, so very convenient.
Staff is helpful and nice. There are some renovation works in the hotel at the moment, but this has no impact on the quality of service. Recommended.

A bit far from center but easily accessible by U-Bahn and S-Bahn. Very clean and in good condition. Free WLAN only in lobby and was slow... Low cost breakfast alternatives at nearest U-Bahn. Excellent price/quality, though.

Die automatische Zimmerreinigung ist erst ab dem vierten Tag vorgesehen sonst nur nach vorheriger Absprache möglich. Angesichts des Zimmerpreises sollte diese Leistung jedoch standardmäßig angeboten werden.

Das Frühstück ist positiv hervorzuheben.

Das Personal war durchweg nett und bemüht, dafür ein großes Lob. Leider war mein Aufenthalt trotzdem sehr enttäuschend: Das erste Zimmer roch stark nach Zigaretten, im zweiten lief mir nachts ein Insekt über das Gesicht. Ein Zimmerwechsel wurde mir verweigert. Schade, da der Service freundlich war, die Zimmerqualität aber nicht meinen Erwartungen entsprach.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, which I truly appreciated. Unfortunately, the stay itself was disappointing: the first room smelled strongly of cigarettes, and in the second an insect crawled across my face at night. A further room change was refused. Friendly service, but the room quality did not meet expectations.

Gut zum Schlafen aber nicht mehr

Das Hotel liegt ruhig in einer Nebenstraße. Im Prinzip alles OK beim Hotel und Preis-Leistung war top bei 95 Euro/Nacht. Es reicht für gutes Schlafen, ist aber nicht der Burner mit Wohlfühlcharakter.

Das Zimmer hatte eine gute Größe. Bett sehr bequem und Bad sauber. Zimmer noch altbacken eingerichtet.
