I had a very comfortable stay at this hotel. The linen, bathroom and room were clean and the room very spacious. The reception staff were friendly, helpful and informative. The carpets in my room and hallway and the bathroom need an upgrade. It was also unfortunate that I had noisy neighbours to the side and above me, so I think there isn’t much soundproofing.

We checked in around 9pm all was fine the lady on reception was lovely and even told us where the local shop was across the road and what time it was open to. About 10.40pm kids were in bed and I took a shower. All of a sudden there was poo and toilet roll coming up the shower waste and onto my feet. I screamed and jumped out the shower and washed my feet in the sink and wiped with tissue the toilet and flushed which then made the issue worse as all the toilet started coming up the shower. I got dressed and went to reception which I got another room at 11pm at night I had to get the kids up and pack up everything up and go up 2 floors. The next morning this room the sink was backing up when brushing teeth and took about 20mins to drain. There is clearly a plumbing issue at the hotel. I didn't have a wash after that as was scared to with the sink backing up incase the same thing happened. I asked for a refund and they said a refund of breakfast was the best they could do this was after multiple back and forth. I have taken videos of the state of the bathroom

The hotel was nice. The breakfast was good. The staff was courteous and helpful.
Just be aware if you stay here that Lichtenberg isn’t a particularly nice part of Berlin. If you drive a car here, be prepared to have a challenge finding parking nearby. Also, one of the nights in May that we were there was a Saturday and it was warm in spite of the rain, so we had to keep the window open. Our room faced the street and every 20-30 minutes there were first responders’ sirens all night long. There were also people making a lot of noise and smoking under our window. One other thing is that there wasn’t anyplace for my daughter and I to put our clothes for our three nights, so we had to keep everything in our suitcase. It was kind of inconvenient for us Americans, but that’s the German in hotels.
The hotel is a few blocks from the Stasi Museum, which is a cool place to visit if you like history, and one block further is an U-Bahn station, and the brown line goes right to the Brandenburg Gate. It’s about a 20-minute ride. There are also a couple of supermarkets close by, including one across the street from the hotel.

Don't bother! Worse than a hostel, NO wifi, angry staff. I've stayed in a lot of low budget accomodations before and thought this would be find at $120/night. It's a bit more than some of the studio rooms in the nearby area. First of all, this hotel is DIRTY. The carpets are stained. Entire hotel is very noisy. When I arrived about 150 high schoolers drinking whiskey in the main lobby had arrived, were noisy way past midnight hours. NO WIFI. Staff will tell you wifi is slow, but let's say its NON EXISTENT. Such a far walk from any sort of a metro-- at least 18 minutes to get to the U5. Don't even bother staying here. Would never recommend.

The lounge area was very nice but when arriving to the double room we found it was two single beds pushed together with two single deveuts, it wouldve been okay had there been a double fitted sheet and double deveuts. The room was very clean and the bathroom was also very clean, which was nice. There was a huge deal of staining on the carpets in the room and through the halls. Overall it was fine, not ideal for a couple but the location was good ~15 mins from Alexander platz and the price was right.
There's an AMAZING Greek restaurant across the road!

I enjoyed my stay at Berlin City East. Pleasant staff with 24hr check in, which was handy as my arrival was at 1am. I had a room on the 7th floor. The room itself was basic but spacious. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well. Not a hotel for a first timer in Berlin I'd say. It took a day to workout the best way to travel into Berlin. But there was a tram and bus stop within a 3 minute walk that would get you to the nearest S-Bahn and U-Bahn.

Overall a great hotel that was very good value. I'd definitely stay here again.

Check in was quick, but when I was assigned a room it was a smoking room (smell) and room faced noisy traffic. Front desk took awhile, but assigned me a non smoking room opposite side of traffic. Heather did not work in room making it a bit chilly to sleep. Shower did not drain well and bottom of feet covered in water (unsanitary). Bed was comfortable and nice down bedding. Traffic is a bit crazy and hectic and challenging to get to in a car. Recommend if you are going to sight see, but not if it's just an overnight just to go to airport. Not the greatest dinner, but hit the spot considering not much conveniently close to walk. Walls are paper thin and you can hear neighbors talking. Drapes do not blackout. All in all, good for the money.

This hotel is a bit out of the way and it's a bit of a walk (10 minutes or so) to trams or U/S-bahn stations, but there are buses closer. It didn't take more than 35 minutes or so to get to the city center using public transportation, which isn't too bad. However, I would recommend using a car or taxi if you are not able to walk at least 10 minutes or if the weather is very cold. Especially since there doesn't seem to be a whole lot nearby. The hallways had stained carpet, but inside the room it was perfectly clean. It seems silly that they don't replace the carpet in the hallways, which would make the hotel look/feel much cleaner. At least in the room was clean. The decor was a little dated, and it was frustrating that there weren't more electrical sockets. However, for the price, this was a perfectly acceptable hotel.

The room was comfortable enough but enough is how I would describe most things about the hotel. No kettle, which always surprises me even though it's common in much of Europe. The staff seemed somehow unfriendly although they always dealt with our enquiries. Surley is the word I would suggest describes them best. Not very close to a tram stop or U and S barn though the bus was closer. Seemed to be two changes at least wherever you were going.

Just right for East Berlin

Got a fantastic deal through Expedia (flights/Hotel). The TRYP is a little way out 30mins from central (East Berlin), easily reachable from Alexanderplatz etc by tram/Ubahn/Sbahn. This isn't a 5* hotel but is a good, comfortable hotel, there is a certain charm in its Communist era exterior. Well situated for everything (shops etc), the Stasimuseum & Triptower Soviet war memorial are just down the road. No complaints but the lack of air con might annoy some, usual continental breakfast & pleasant cheap bar! I know Being quite well if you spend most of your time in the former East (like me) this is ideal BUT I think I would be inclined to stay in the west if most of your activity is going to be centred in that area (as you will spend about 50mins- an hour traveling otherwise), if you don't know Berlin the former East is by far the most interesting! I would stay at the TRYP again tomorrow just don't expect 5* facilities in this 3* establishment. All the staff were lovely, attentive & 'warm'.

Good hotel, but some distance from the centre.

As someone who is interested in the history of the cold war, I found it interesting to stay in this hotel, which is in a building seemingly built during the GDR times.

In general, I enjoyed my stay. There are three supermarkets within a few minutes walk.

Although the hotel is some distance away from any of the main tourist areas of Berlin, a tram stop is around 10 minutes walk (and this is only a few stops from the Frankfurter Allee S and U Bahn stations). The Magdalanen Strasse U Bahn station (near the former Stasi headquarters) is around 15 minutes walk away. There is also a bus stop just around the corner from the Netto supermarket which is across from the hotel: bus number 240 from this stop takes around 35 minutes to get to the Ostbahnhof, and I found it interesting to take the bus a few times to tour some of the ordinary areas of the former East Berlin, and look at the Stalinist-style Konsum building while I was waiting for the bus.

One minor point is that the corridors of the hotel can be rather noisy: there is quite a lot of noise from people locking and unlocking their doors and people can be heard talking in the corridors. But I did not consider this to be a major problem.

Obviously this hotel is in the former communist East Berlin but it seems like they are still stuck in that time period. Definitely not a up to the standards of Wyndham hotels. They should be ashamed. I had a great trip. Hotel staff was very friendly and showed us how to get to the metro. Provided maps and answered all of our questions. Breakfast was free with our reservations and was very good with plenty of options. Breakfast can have lots of people early but we found that there was adequate room when we went in. Beautiful flowers throughout the hotel and souvenirs available.

The hotel is made from a converted block of soviet era flats. The decor is a bit tired and dated -eg the The TVs are old from the 1990s and there were no kettles in the room or fridge/ minibar. Basic accommodation at a basic price. Staff are friendly and helpful. The location is a bit out of the way. Once you get to know the bus, tram and train routes nearby then it becomes more convenient to get into and out of the centre of town. The greek restaurant across the road is good. and there are local Aldi and Lidl shops

I booked this hotel after seeing some pretty good reviews for the price and we needed a one night stay so we gave it a try. The best part about this hotel is that they offer free parking which is something I did not find at any other hotel during our trip of Europe. The room itself was average size; however, the carpeting was stained in multiple places and the room had a peculiar odor. The beds were not very comfortable. Overall I would say that the low price that I paid for the room was acceptable but I would not stay here again. Pay a little more and get a nicer room without stains all over the carpet.

Not the Wyndham you expect

I picked this hotel because it was a Wyndham and the Wyndhams I know in the US are really nice. I supposedly got a deal but it was still expensive compared to other less known alternatives, I decided to get it considering hotels in downtown were expensive and seemed too old. Wrong decision. I also wanted parking but this parking is very limited and gets full early, so by the time we arrived there was no parking. And it has no air conditioning!! You have to leave the window open and it is very noisy. I honestly don't understand how a Wyndham does not have A/C, in addition this hotel is very old, carpets are dirty and front desk personnel are not friendly at all. Breakfast is great though ;) it was the best breakfast in my trip. I got better pricing buying it directly at arrival than the rate I was quoted on the website.
I honestly won't stay there again. Not for tourism or work. This hotel need a complete update and training to the unfriendly front desk staff. People at the restaurant helped us more.

Nice hotel in quiet part of East Berlin.

I really enjoyed my stay at TRYP by Wyndham Berlin City East. The staff was attentive to my needs. My room was minimalistic but comfortable. The hotel is in a great location. It's located in a quiet part of East Berlin. It's walking distance from the Frankfurter Alle U Bahn station. The hotel is also close to the quirky Friedrichshain neighborhood. I would definitely use this hotel again

Stayed here for eve holiday on december 2015. The room is very comfortable and neighborhood is quiet. The breakfast buffet is very nice. The only negatice point is the distance from touristic attractions but there is a tram station at 400m and bus station at 200m. The nearest metro station is at 1km.

The reception of the hotel is very nice and must've recently been refurbished. The rest of the hotel is less nice. The room looked like it needs properly cleaning as there were stains on both the walls and carpets. There was also a stain on the bedding which stayed for the 4 nights we were there so clearly we weren't getting fresh bedding. The only upside was the location as it was very close to supermarkets and public transport going into the centre.

I survived another Wyndham catastrophe!

I was very much excited when first booking this hotel 'Tryp by Wyndham' but upon arrival I discovered the neighborhood was very run-down with nothing of interest within 15 minutes walking! Then, upon entering I approached the front desk staff (man and woman) to register and they were quite 'stoic'. No greeting. No eye contact. No information. I guess it's the 'German way'. The room was 'nice' but as the day warmed up so did my non-air conditioned room. When I opened the window I was subject to a considerable amount of street noice...which I put up with as it was the lesser of two evils. Hotels.com had it listed on my reservation that the room included WiFi. Fortunately I printed that out as the front desk staff were unwilling to give me the WiFi code until I produced the reservation. They reluctantly said it wasn't correct but they would honor it this time...lol! Really? How generous! It was quite a comical 4 day stay as the hotel was buzzing with school kids and there were messes all over the place all the time. In the end...it was not a bad place to stay for the money I paid (less than a Youth Hostel) but I definitely will not stay there again.

Berlin is Nice and that is about it. For a major city it is very quiet and does not have the excitement or buzz that others have. I would recommend A walking tour and make sure you visit the Belin wall as is quite moving. A trip up the TV tower is worth ago as well as it gives you a great view over the city.

Closest Metro train station to hotel approx 1-1.5 miles away. Rooms w/o air conditioning and no window curtain shades. Very limited amenities. Rude restaurant staff. Reception area staff w little or no English language skills. I have stayed in Tryp and SolMelia hotels in Spain and Italy with very good prior experiences, but this one was very dissapointing. My wife got sick and there where no drug stores within a perimeter of several miles.

Nice Affordable Hotel

It could be disappointed that they are charging for wireless internet in the room but I had my local German line, so it wasn't a big deal for me. The pricing was good and i needed just a place to sleep for the night.

Very good place to stay on a budget, taxi's and trains all easily available, the staff were all very pleasant and the breakfast was brilliant!

Would have scored better if the thugs listed to be improved were standard but in general I would return.

Rummet var rent. Wifi funkade inte så bra. Personal var trött på kvällen som checkade in. Fick inte korrekt information om frukost på receptionen därför hoppade vi över frukosten. Personalen på morgonen var bra.
