The villas are located on Cerritos Beach in an area called New Mazatlan. Mazatlan and the Golden Zone are both 500 m away.
This charming, family friendly complex is a quiet and relaxing boutique resort and comprises a total of only 28 individual villas. The villas are clustered into 3 groups: the first group are the beachfront villas which offer direct access to the beach on a level that no other resort in Mazatlan can match; the second group are the poolside villas which encircle the pool area and offer direct access to the pool and its tropical gardens, as well as the poolside hot tub.
Since the pool area is only 27 m from the beach, the beach is also easily accessible from these villas. The third group are the garden view villas, nestled within the verdant gardens just behind the pool area.
Facilities on offer to guests include a lobby area with a 24-hour reception and check-out service a hotel safe, a currency exchange facility, a cloakroom and a newspaper stand. It also offers a hairdressing salon, a TV lounge, a children's playground and a kids' club as well as a café, a bar, a pub and a restaurant.
Guests may also take advantage of the WLAN Internet access, room and laundry services and the bicycle hire station. There is a car park and covered garage parking available for those arriving by car.

This property is truly unique in the area in that it remains one of the only hotels in the area that has a distinctly Mexican decor and flavor. The units are spacious. The accouterments for cooking or cleaning are not so great. The staff in the restaurant and bar are very helpful and pleasnt. Access to the gorgeous beach in front of the property needs to be replaced. Access is not possible at high tide.

The stay was overall ok. Not going to say perfect but rather good. The check in could of been better. One of the receptionist was very rude and could definitely used a lot more customer service help. I would recommend this resort only thing i’d have to say don’t forget your blow dryer & iron. I didn’t like the fact that reception desk closes at night. Other than that staff is great & the place is very relaxing

Just very tired place. Power out for an hour or so, furniture dirty, blinds did not work well. Right on beach which was nice. Crashing waves hypnotic. Sunsets beautiful. Lush gardens and, nice swimming pool but, hot tub closed down at 9 so no night time leisure soaks.

We enjoyed the small size of the resort. The villas were probably beautiful when they were new. This resort needs some money put into it, but has the potential to be wonderful. The mattresses were quite hard. The pool was constantly being filled with a hose. Service was pretty good and staff were agreeable. there was a limited variety of menu items, but we enjoyed what meals we had there. We chose Villas El Rancho in order to be close to family who were staying in their more upscale private condo. We spent a lot of time visiting over there as it was more comfortable. With money put into upkeep and a bit nicer amenities, this place would be great because it’s not like all the other places to stay on Cerritos.

The staff was friendly and spoke enough English to work with our bits of Spanish. The hot tub wasn't hot, but it was a fun clean, hidden side pool. The beach was immediately outside the back of the hotel, which was fun and offered a stunning view. The restaurant was so-so, except the tortillas which were awesome, the ambiance which was fun, and the waiter who was fantastic.
The bedrooms all have doors with open slats, so there is no sound privacy in any of the rooms. What was set up to be the master was actually a loft situation, completely open to the living room.

It was okay. Ants were present in kitchen. There has not been any unkeep, like rusty shower pipes, old couch that dips deep when you sit on it. THe cleaniing lady was great everyday with new towels and sweeping. THe beach was not good this year.

Hotel was ok but they shouldn't advertise services or amenities they don't have. They don't have a hair dryer as advertised. They don't have 24 hour reception as advertised. They don't have an iron and ironing board as advertised. I had to go ask for an iron and that's how I finally got one. Also, wifi was only available in the pool area and not inside our villa. The water you shower with is salty, I guess thats part of being a green resort. Overall It was ok but would not return.

Staff were very freindly and helpful. Better than a hotel or regular condo, had charm and character (mecixan decor, but not overdone), cozy. We don't like fancy condos, hotels or all-inclusives because they lack character and you never feel quite at home it them. Felt at home here. Right on the beach in cerritos, which is the most beautiful beach in Mazatlan. short bus ride to Zona dorado and shopping. Cleanliness of room was good, but not excellent (just fine for us, depends on your standards). The place is rustic so there are some tiles needing to be replaced, a little rust here and there, a few things that didn't work in the room,but the staff fixed them right away with out hassel. I thought the price was a bit high and so you would think they would keep the place running a little better and that they wouldn't charge you to have water in your room (little things like that are a bit annoying, but the charm of this place wins me over). The pool was clean and an excellent option for kids and if the surf happend to be a little stronger than usual. We would definitely return to El Rancho. Had a great time, loved the staff.

The hotel was just right for us; away from the crowds, no need to take the elevator down because it's one level. We had a great time the beach is the closest to villas then any other hotel in the area. The villas are very roomy and peaceful, towels are BIG, you get extra towels for the beach as well. Two full bathrooms. People are nice and helpful. The best we've ever taken.

I suspect they post their own good reviews given the complaints constantly shared around the pool and environs by guests. The staff is nice, the location is nice but the units are moldy and bug ridden. They screwed up our reservation and charged so much more than expected, then demanded all our identification: passport, driver's license, and then they wanted credit card information. They wouldn't check us out until all the dishes and silverware were counted, after we had put up with the ants and cockroaches. Horrible place.
