They wanted to clean the rooms at 8.30am, we asked them to come back later, they never did. It happened again on the 2nd day. I went to reception to ask for a room cleaning. The receptionist said she would inform the cleaners, it it never happened. This is very disappointing.

as i have booked a king size bedroom
but on the stay i got 2 single beds joined together which was pathetic and also on complaint about this they told me they only have this thing and we cant do anything and with this problem we didnt sleep well otherwise one of there staff Imogen was so good and cooperative.

The room was spotless, the view was like a painting, we absolutely loved staying here and would stay again. Beds were comfortable, linen was quality. Only issue was the 2nd bedroom had no aircon and it was quite warm for our kids, we left the one in the lounge on to filter through but it wasn't overly effective. We were there in January which is summer but its not like it was really hot, just warmish in the rooms. Otherwise it was a perfect stay. Also the construction is happening but we didn't find it that intrusive, the reception was easy to find and the parking was convenient even if a bit tight.

The room itself was a fantastic find, a comfortable suite overlooking the lake with a fireplace and plenty of room for my family. As of my visit in December 2025, the campus is undergoing significant renovation, so the internal aesthetics aren't ideal, and it's not really easy to move around the complex, but that was only a minor inconvenience. The on-site breakfast is overpriced for what you get, but you can choose any number of other options within walking distance. The quality of the room and kindness of the service well outweighed those modest downsides.

Everything was new, clean and beautiful. We had access to a fully functional kitchen with everything we needed. The beds were super comfortable, the bathrooms were new and clean, and Victoria at the front desk was incredibly lovely and helpful. The view was stunning and proximity to all the amenities, but far away enough to enjoy the peace and quiet. Loved every minute of our stay.

The room was a great size and I loved the location. But during our stay there was construction going on to a new building which made navigating the hotel and car park a challenge. The hotel bar and restaurant was also closed for the period. Not sure if that was due to the seasonality or the construction work. TV also didn’t work for regular live to air and the iron also didn’t steam at all regardless of the setting and water levels

The accommodation was excellent. Lovely apartment and accommodating staff. However there where major building works happening. And the car parks difficult to navigate, we didn't use a car but the taxis/ubers found it difficult in the tight space and difficult parking spaces.
Also my son got locked out of his room and had to spend a night in a different apartment. The staff told us they knew that door was a problem. The hotel management apologised and sent a bottle of wine.
But it would have been better if they fixed the issue before we arrived.

Rooms have views over looking the lake and snowy mountains but because it is currently under construction, for a 4.5 star hotel it definitely lacks all the amenities of a 4.5 star hotel. Walkways, corridors, driveways, carapace, reception area etc, are all very tight. Staff and service was average depending on whose working that day. The hotel has no restaurants and bars. Uber eats would be your best room service. Need to book or reserve a car spot in advance otherwise you'll have to park somewhere else. The hotel shuttle bus into town needs to be a lot frequent considering that the hotel offers no amenities.

The hotel is currently under construction, although you won’t hear a single construction noise and the views over the lake and mountains were very nice. But…to call it a 4.5* hotel without the 4.5* service and amenities that is a bit of a far stretch. The hotel is currently under construction, meaning there’s no room service, restaurants, drinks or a proper meal or morning coffee. Uber eats would be your best option for the duration. The staff even suggested for me to go to Rees (hotel next door) for dinner and drinks. Same staff are friendly and some are not that friendly. Walkway, driveway, corridor are all very tight. Parking spots are extremely limited and you need to book a spot in advance. For a 4.5* hotel, luxury and convenience were not present.

We had the 2 bedroom penthouse with the spa. Views were unmatched which is what we wanted. Daily cleans. Comes with full kitchen and laundry. There is currently construction happening but didn’t impact our stay at all. What did impact us unfortunately was the TV reception was terrible and the chrome cast kept cutting out which was a shame as we wanted to spend most of our time in the apartment admiring our he views and enjoying movies and tv series.

The room and bathroom were spacious, clean and modern. I loved the lighting in the bathroom as well as the rain shower. Even though I didn't book a 'lake view' room, I still had a nice little view of the snowy mountains and lake with a little balcony. The heating was fabulous! Floor heating, a heatpump and a wall heater if you need it. Since I just booked a standard hotel room, I was pleasantly suprised to have a microwave, Nespresso machine, dishes and a decent fridge.
The location was great for public transport as bus stops were very close to the top of the driveway. The complimentary shuttle to and from Queenstown city was fantastic! Make sure you call in advance to book your seat on a shuttle as they can fill up.
One thing that was a bit of a downer is that you can hear noise through the interconnecting door. My room had a door that connected to a larger room next door.. I could hear their TV loudly until about 1am as well as clear conversations. I needed to put on some earbuds to be able to sleep. I can't imagine that all rooms are like this though. I would have spoken to the front desk however it was only bothering me for one night as people were very quiet the following night.

Prior to booking, I luckily went directly onto the Oaks website and read that their restaurant/bar/gym were all closed due to the current construction and the reception is in a temporary location. I am sure everything will be even more wonderful once the construction is complete!

The Oaks Shores are currently part way through a major renovation. The renovated rooms are of a high standard. The 2 bedroom lake view apartment was perfect for our stay of 4 friends. Very spacious and well equipped with incredible views. The carpark and temporary reception area is not ideal but we note this is only temporary while to rest of the renovation is completed. We will definately be back!

Booked the property through Wotif. Upon arrival, we found the property to be under construction. No restaurant, no parking and no spa.

At the time of booking, this was not reflected on the Wotif website. Upon arrival, we were informed by the manager of Oaks that they are not responsible for “4th and 5th party booking agents”.

The room itself is was lovely, no complaints. However, the room service was poor. If one or two items of clothes were left on a bed, we came back to the room to find a not saying that staff could not make the bed.

The suites were immaculate and quiet, along a beautiful walking trail by the lake. While some of the facilities are under renovation, they were transparent about this when I reserved a suite. Despite renovations, it was very quiet and clean. The only concern was a sewer smell in and around the property in the evenings.

Long waits for check in and check out and they don’t always answer if you call etc… difficulty scheduling the shuttle, cleaning was ok but not great and while the suites are wonderful, the regular rooms are just ok.

We were disappointed to find out that there was construction going on at the hotel. No noise but very inconvenient due to access to the hotel. No one informed us of this. We did receive an email asking for our bedding configuration, parking requirement and time of check in. We asked for parking spot as we had a hire car. We were told no spots available but no information was given to the accessibility of local parking to this hotel. Our room was near the fire escape and access to stair well to the front of hotel and the lake. This was inclined to be noisy. We just felt a discount could have been offered as it wasn’t a cheap hotel. We thought we were paying for a better experience.

There was no clear warning about the extent of the renovations or that I needed to book parking in advance. It is imperative that the extent of the disruption caused by the renovations needs to be clearly advertised, the fact you have to park across the main road and in a side street on a steep hill is outrageous, you then have to cross one of the busiest roads in Queenstown and the walk down a steep unprotected walkway before you enter the hotel is also terrible not to mention dangerous, if it was wet or icy it would be so dangerous, what if I was mobility impaired or worse fully disabled, the fact that this was not clearly advertised when booking is very misleading. Out of principle for the dishonesty I would never recommend anyone stay at this hotel.

The hotel has been recently refurbished to a very high standard. Apartments are spacious and comfortable. Our only gripe was that cleanliness could do with some improvement. The basics (e.g. toilets, sinks, kitchen bench etc) were all pristine, but the deeper cleaning had significant room for improvement. For example, the floors were sticky, and most of the window and mirrors had streaks, fingerprints etc.

I have regularly stayed at Oakshores in Queenstown since 2010 and it’s my No1 choice of where to stay in Queenstown . Apartments are very large and beautiful views of the lake and mountains . Our apartment was recently refurbished and it was very nice . The staff were exceptional especially with the check in . Nothing was too much trouble . There is currently some building works going on but our unit was very quiet and parking was provided on site .

This property was amazing and the staff were all so helpful. It is being renovated which was very clearly advised at the time of booking. The obly impacts of this were - less parking, no on-site restaurant and uust a bit of a less inviting entry from the road. Once you are in the carpark it is great. The room was clean, spacious and had stunning views. We stayed in a penthouse and would stay again when we are back in Queenstown. Good sized rooms, great wardrobe space, large bathrooms with heated tiles, good sized living area, coffee machine and wonderful daily house keeping. Location wise the views are amazing, driving into town is quick and easy. The path at the front allows walking in to town easy and the bus stop close by made getting to the snow (remarkables) straight forward.

Very nice property, amazing views indeed… close to city and they offer a shuttle service to and from the CBD which was an excellent option for us.
Room is very clean and equipped with everything we needed.. kitchen and bathroom are both spotless.
Nice and friendly staff.. construction is still going on but didn’t bother us at all. The only downside is Parking which is a big problem due to ongoing construction, but apart from the parking issue, we enjoyed our stay. Will be back for sure

Beautiful view but disappointing housekeeping

We booked the lake view sub Penthouse about 8 weeks prior to arrivals via Hotel.com. There was no mention about ongoing renovations. So when we arrived, half the hotel and carpark was under scaffolding so access can be hard if you don’t have a car. If you have a car, you need to pre book a carpark (quite narrow and steep to get to) otherwise you will have to park elsewhere which may be inconvenient.
The reception area is really small and chaotic if more than 4 people around for check in due to renovations.
The room itself ( 2 bed and 2 bath apt with a spectacular lake view was gorgeous and spacious. However because of the renovations - the bedroom views were all facing the construction site so the curtains were closed during our 3 night stay.

Housekeeping - this was disappointing particularly for a premium apt/ room. There were dead mosquitoes/ insects on the bathroom windowsills and also bathroom tops. The windowsills had a layer of dust. The next day we asked the reception about housekeeping and they had to check whether our room included housekeeping !!!??? - so check when u make the booking. This was included but when we returned that evening, our room / apt appeared half done eg. Dirty towels removed but not replaced, new pillow cases placed by bedside tables, dead insects still on window sills!!

The location was great and I cannot fault the quality of the room/ apt with its finishings and comfort of the beds.

Bads: Not so convenient for those who want to walk to the streets. The block 2 is all new construction but the rooms were not sound proof. The family next to our room was extremely loud. Their kids were playing and screaming throughout the day until midnight. The two separate units had a common door in between that was locked. And the neighbour's kids would try to open the door every now and then. Why would newly constructed units would have a common door in the first place? It's overpriced

It is a difficult assessment - this should be and I am sure that in 2025 it will be a great facility. For our stay the rooms are very nice, new fittings and bathrooms, however with no air conditioning. Our first room on ground level had a door we could open but we didn’t feel safe leaving it open to anyone who may come in while we slept, the second room didn’t have a door only a couple of small windows that only opened to 10 degrees with insufficient air flow to cool the room. The third room had a door and balcony and we were finally comfortable sleeping. We had expected a bar and restaurant both of which were closed for renovation.
There was nowhere we could charge an electric car.
The staff were great and did all they could to ensure we were cared for. I will ask if the renovations are complete before staying again.

Avoid this hotel if you want a relaxing stay.

A very disappointing and frustrating stay. Dishwasher not working, housekeeping does not do a good job. Room is still dirty. Bedroom lights keep switching on and off on our 4th day while I am trying to put a baby to sleep. Had to get pack up and transfer to a different room with a sleeping baby. Phone not working in new room. Despite reporting all of this no action from staff. Poor communication and staff. Construction everywhere. Dust and odour from construction as you walk to the room.

The room was great however we weren’t informed of the construction and it blocked the view. We had workers right outside the window so opening curtains felt odd. Would have appreciated notice at booking time.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in '
I wish I could give them zero. Specially for their customer service. When we booked in, there wasn't anything on the website regarding construction that is happening at the hotel which blocks the lake view. So you will not have the view that it is advertised on the website, expedia, or other booking web. Also instead of relaxing you have to put up with constrution noise.
There is nothing like house keeping. You step in the room around 5pm and you don't even have clean towel to take shower. When I called the reception , she said you have to come up to reception and pick up the towels. After we got back to the room around 8: 00PM, house keeper only made the bed, rubbish and dirty towels on the floor. Not even emptying bin. Launges and furnitures are so dirty snd old. They keep saying to everyone that our house keepers are busy. Not good enough when you charge almost $800 for two nights Read less

Great location both to the lake and to the city. Lovely friendly staff. Big rooms with nice view and with all amenities. Enjoyed my every minute on there premises

Really disappointing accommodation.
Check-in was delayed by 3.5hrs with no communication at check-in, until we asked.
The room hadn’t been cleaned properly, there was food under the couches, on the kitchen floor and there were crumbs all over the couches.
On day two there was no hot water, and during our stay they ran out of towels.
