The staff was super friendly and helpful! I liked that guests were encouraged to leave things they cannot take for use of other guests.

The fridge could be cleaned out more often since there was no space and it would be amazing!!! If there was some space to sit down or put down stuff in the women's shower room.

This hostel was not in any condition to be asking users to pay over $60-$70 CAD a night — the location of the hostel is in the west side of Amsterdam, near Sloterdjik, far away from all central action happening in the city of Amsterdam. Not only that, but the group of goons who hang out near the area are a sketchy bunch of individuals — they seem to be on first name basis with the staff, but it made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe how they openly let them roam around the hostel and bug residents for their leftovers in the ashtrays outside. The hostel just attracts a bad group of characters overall; if you don't care for cleanliness, good amenities & facilities, loud until late into the night and the bizarre crowd it generates, then book this hostel.

Also worth noting, the place is super humid, there are mold growths a bit everywhere in the showers/bathroom. The rooms are very simple lay-out & small, but it does the trick!

One positive note is that there are nice communal spaces, the kitchen is well-equipped and the reception can hook you up with food for a low price & other last-minute things you may need (toothpaste, flip-flops, toothbrush, etc.), and the hostel is right next to a cheap grocery store as well as a number of nice parks :)

I had a good time at the Dutchies Hostel. Everyone working there were friendly and helpful. I was there for 3 days and they cooked some snacks for supper every night offered people drinks and the night I was leaving they were going to have a beer pong tournament.
Super friendly atmosphere with a kitchen to cook and store food and a eating area with a TV room off to the side. The mattress was very comfortable and everything seemed clean.
I would stay here again for sure!

the decor was over and above normal. all you want in kitchen: pots, pans ,dishes, storage containers, fridge storage, .U can get everything to increase your comfort needs: bikes, copies, towels, shampoo, bath gel ,free locks for lockers, towels, lugguage storage, hair dryers, laundry services, 24 ?7 hot coffee or tea. AMAZING!!1This property is super clean. THANK YOU Brenda and Carlo for our rooms.The front desk team work steadily to keep the kitchen in order with supplies.Did I tell you we are about 8 car lenghts from well stocked groceries store?

The staff and other guests treated me very warmly and made me feel as though I could ask for help if needed. The resident feline added the extra cosy touch, and having a Lidl on the doorstep is a very convenient and inexpensive alternative to city restaurants.

Dutchies had everything I needed for my stay - there were always staff available, the shared kitchen and bathrooms and foyer area were cleaned regularly, and my bed ‘pod’ option was great for privacy. I also really appreciated the fast wifi and the free filter coffee!

No para todos solo los que tienen ojos abiertos.

Siempre tienen café de cortesía es genial y me encanta que en la cocina todos cocinamos y vemos diferentes platillos olores y se conocen buena gente.
Es como estar en cocina de la Abuela con gente del todo el mundo y aprendes algunos sabores., Eso es un plus en estés hotel, está lejos de lo turismo sin embargo conoces y estás muy cerca sin pagará tantos km en la tarjeta o boleto.. Así que si quieres ir al lado turístico y nada original o local de Ámsterdam no te quedes acá.
Por otro lado estamos cerca de una estación que es más cerca de las playas , del central station y del aeropuerto sin ir al Central Station ya que pierdes dinero y tiempo...
Y si es un lugar de Transfer o de una noche , Pero sigue siendo un buen lugar..
Aún por una semana.

My honest opinion is this place is outdated, low in overall comfort and overpriced for a hostel. I booked away from city centre as I was traveling home overseas the next day and needed my rest. I got anything BUT rest here. The walls are so thin and no one respects quiet hours here.

I have stayed in many hostels, but this was the first I ever experienced being bunked with loud and disrespectful bunkmates. I was asleep before they barged into the room at 22:30 and carried on for almost 45 minutes before heading out to party. The front desk was pitiful. They told me only if they were loud after quiet hours (which apparently is 23:00 when I have only ever experienced 22:00) that could they do anything. They tried to hand me ear buds and then word for word said to me, \"what do you expect, people come here to party.\" I took this as, \"Deal with it.\"

That does NOT make it OK for people to be disrespectful of those who are clearly trying to rest. It IS possible to get ready late and respect others trying to rest! The same bunkmates came back at 4am from being out all night and made a bunch of noise for at least 15 minutes before it quieted down.

To worsen my experience, I discovered the showers turned off every 20 seconds. It was cold in the washroom and there was no way to adjust the temperature of the water. It was so hot that I could not even enjoy my shower after the little rest before traveling.

Sad to say, I will not be returning to stay here.

If you are desperate for a hostel in Amsterdam I wouldn't suggest staying here.
Its located in the sloterdijk area. Its probably one of the roughest and dirtiest areas of Amsterdam. To get to the city from the hostel you'll need to spend 9 euro for a 24hr ticket for the trams and buses. Its definitely not convenient. Especially at night time. The hostel building is divided between students accommodation and government housing.
The hostel is over priced for what you get and that isn't much.
I'd say that most of the staff want to be american gangstas. With gangsta music being played over the sound system.
The tall Croatian front of house staff member has a serious attitude problem. I think that he is on a power trip. Definitely not the kind of person you want working at a hostel. I'm sure that his friend is living in the common room. You see his friend sleeping in there.
The cleaning staff do a good job though trying to keep the place clean.
If you like staff with attitude, gangsta vibes, weed smoke in the air 24/7, traveling a distance every time you want to visit the city then this might be the hostel you are looking for in the suburbs of Amsterdam. I know that I wont be staying there again.

Don't stay here

I had misgivings as soon as I walked through the door, as there were quite a few shady looking characters hanging around. I don't know what the place used to be like but nowadays it seems like a place for itinerant workers, not for backpackers.

The staff on reception were friendly and let me store my bag when I arrived early. When I returned and was able to access my room though, things got worse. The room stank and there were piles of clothes everywhere - clearly long term residents. The tin hat on it was when I'd only just walked in the room and the almost naked guy lying on one of the beds asked me to get in it with him.

I picked up my bag and was out of there like a shot. Seriously, I advise you to stay somewhere else.

Overall, it's a great place, especially for its price. However, if you aren't a cannabis smoker, you may not enjoy that smell/smoke coming into the building from the crowd gathering at the entrance.
Maybe I've been unlucky at that particular time.

A great social hostel not too far away

So I stayed at this hostel as it was the a bit cheaper than the ones available in the city center. However, this hostel ended up being one of the best ones for the price as their kitchen was easy accessible, loved that they had a bar, and multiple common areas to hangout and meet other hostel members. Would most likely stay here in the summer as the winter it is quite far (to walk at least) but not too far from public transport. If it was summer I'd gladly take a bike as it's not that from bike wise. I'd like to add that the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Would stay here again in the summer.

Very comfortable to stay due to its cleanliness and helpful staff. Only the bad experience was that my bag i left in the luggage room was stolen!! I hope they know that there is a bad guy who doesn't mind snatching someone else's bag where nobody is checking the bag's owner.

Clean hostel, helpful and friendly staff, they will hold your luggage and there is a grocery next to the hostel for all your food supplies.
They provide a lock for your luggage, however the locker was not big enough to fit a luggage bag. The rooms are small so luggage space is limited.
The location is about a 6min walk from the tram.
Overall a pleasant stay.

This hostel is clean, new, it's been around since April 2016 they said, and the staff is super friendly.

Facilities: they have a kitchen, 3 male showers (probably the same for females), have other stuff you may need, wifi

They helped me by having a US to EU electrical adapter, since I forgot mine. They had towels for purchase, or rent. Waters, and other beverages for purchase. I rented a bicycle. The bikes were in great condition.

In particular, just being able to talk to the staff, and them not being to busy to talk and hang out with you. Also, other people in the hostel were nice. Say good morning to you. There's a hang out area inside and outside with seating.

My elderly mother and I needed somewhere to sleep after an all night flight, and we couldn't check in to our \"real\" hotel until after 3 p.m. I booked two bunks at Dutchies for the two nights, to cover us for the day. It was totally worth it. We were helped with our luggage (despite comments on hotels.com, there was no place to lock up our large luggage), and the staff was kind and understanding. The rooms/ bunks were comfortable and clean. For the purpose we booked the bunks for, it was perfect, and if I were 30 years younger, this would be the perfect place to stay for an inexpensive Amsterdam pad. The hotel is difficult to find, though. It was NOT where google placed it. It is on the other end of the street, on the back of the only tall building.

Firstly, the room was really small. I stayed in an 8-bed room and the room wasn't even big enough for two people, let alone 8. The place was far away from the city centre, not really clean and not great facilities. All this added to the price for the room makes it the worst hostel I've ever been in. The only good thing I can say about it is that all the staff were really nice and helpful and there's a supermarket right in front of the hostel {although that's not of their own making :)}

Clean hostel with friendly staff; rooms too small

The hostel is on the first floor of a dormitory-type building in what appears as a school/kindergarten district. It is very close to a highway but that is not a problem, the noise never bothers since there is a treeline between.

I stayed for 7 nights in a 6-bed room (the most expensive option) and we had 3 double beds and a small table with enough room to store luggage. The lockers are not too big but you can still stick two backpacks in there no problem. Each bed has two electrical sockets, one is occupied by a small LED lamp.

The noise-insulation from the corridor is lacking and rooms are close to the showers and toilets so expect about 100 door-bumps an hour at any time during the morning. The locks to the rooms are pretty noisy and if you're a light sleeper you're going to get woken each time.

The problem with any hostel is personal hygiene of the occupants and unfortunately I had an issue with that, but the staff was very friendly and they kindly moved me to another room for the remaining night. Bear in mind that can be in a larger dormitory with 8 beds, in which you don't have a table, and no place to store your extra luggage (a separate room for that exists but I never used it).

People can check-in at any time after 3PM and several nights you can have people coming in at 2-3AM and turning the light on, etc.

A huge puddle forms in front of the hotel when it's raining and you have no way of going around it.

Very helpful receptionists. The room is okay, but not very clean, although that depends on others that stayed with you (the table in my room has full of stuff on it that I couldn't use it). Certainly a better experience for me rather than my friend who stayed at another hostel in Amsterdam. Also they can do the laundry for you for just 5 euro I think, which is convenient. Overall, good experience, recommend this place.

All in all is a good experience, except from the guy that makes the cleaning, he gets angry if you are where he has to clean, he can't even ask properly to bounce out of where you are to allow him to clean, he's just rude and tells you to get out of there.

The place was good. I like they have great rules for not letting anyone do drugs or smoke inside the building. They have bikes that you can rent and they also provide you with dryer, ironing etc for free.

Bueno según precio/calidad

Personal muy amable. Lugar cómodo y sencillo. Te prestan un candado para guardar tu cosas debajo de las camas, mi carry on no entró pero lo dejé con mi propio candado en la habitación y no tuve ningún problema.
Llegué mucho antes del horario de check in e igualmente pude usar las instalaciones y las duchas. Guardaron mis valijas luego del check out durante casi todo el día.
Queda muy cerca de la estación de trenes y buses y a 15/20 minutos del aeropuerto en auto (25 euros en Uber). Justo enfrente hay un supermercado.
No está tan cerca del centro peor es muy facil llegar en tram o bus y en el hostel tienen tickets de transporte público para vender.

全体的にサービスはホステルにしてはかなり良かった。宿泊費の高さだけが不満だが、アムステルダムは全体的に高いのでしょうがない。

Top no atendimento

Muito bom atendimento e atenção. Cheguei cedo e já falaram q poderia tomar banho, descansar nos sofás e guardar as makas. Não tive q pedir . Parabéns. Box de banho maior q os normais mas ainda pequeno. Sempre problema tomar banho e se trocar nos hosteis.
