The rooms were very comfortable and clean and the balcony was a decent size. The staff were superb, very helpful with any questions we had about public transport etc and also gave good recommendations for nearby cafes/bars/coffeeshops as well. The hotel is in a great location with lots of nearby amenities and only a 20 minute tram to Centraal Station. Overall a wonderful stay, will definitely be back here next time I'm in Amsterdam.

Room very clean and comfortable, bathroom clean and shower powerful with hot water. The toiletries and dental packs supplied were of good quality. Reception staff very helpful and polite. The staircase is quite narrow (which is likely standard for most houses in the city) and would likely prove difficult with a lot of luggage / heavy cases. We were only staying two nights so wasn't much to carry. Booked triple room with balcony for the three of us and couldn't really fault it. Would definitely look to book again if we come back to Amsterdam.

We stayed for two nights on the second day I got up with bug bites on my face and arms but did not know what it was. When I returned to the hotel that night I was on my computer in bed when a bed bug crawled over my shoulder I squashed it in a napkin and googled bed bugs to see what they look like it was an exact match. I took it to the night clerk in the lobby and was told they didn’t have bed bugs and could help me. I refused to go back to the room so he called his manager again and told me they would let me use another room. Their conversation repeatedly mentioned New York and he told me I could have brought it in from the plane. He never commiserated or apologized for the situation. I told him I hope they at least address the bed bug problem when I leave even though they were pretending my bites were a total mystery. I’m still suffering through the itching and discomfort from the bites on my arms and face. I did not ask for a refund on the stay. I will not be going back there.

I liked the location. It was close to the areas we wanted to explore. Walking to and from the hotel was easy.
It was extremely hot and with no air conditioning sleeping was tough. My room was small and the bathroom sink was in a difficult position. With the shelf just above the faucet. The water from the shower would wet much of the bathroom floor so using the bath mat towel is a must. At least there was a fan in the room to help move air during the night.
The stairs to get to my room on the second floor are extremely steep and the treads are narrow so carrying luggage was a challenge.
The front desk staff was great and very friendly and helpful. I was not bugged by cleaning staff on checkout day which is really nice.
Overall I was satisfied with the Alp Hotel and would recommend it to people on a budget.

We appreciated the location and convenience of Alp Hotel. The staff was cordial and knowledgeable. Our room was small but this was not a concern for us as we spent the days and evenings exploring Amsterdam. The room and bathroom were clean. Housekeeping was available for those that needed it. We would stay here again without hesitation.

Fantastic Amsterdam Experience

My girlfriend and I were only here for 1 night. Knowing that we would not be in the hotel room a lot, we wanted an authentic European experience. The rooms were quite small, but the staff and the location were excellent. The front desk recommended we take public transportation from the Schiphol airport and gave us all the information needed we needed to get there without a hitch. When we arrived, the staff provided valuable insights on where/how we could make the most of our limited time, including neighborhoods/restaurants/markets/tourist attractions. I needed to sign-in to a virtual meeting which I took in the communal back patio which was really quite nice and quiet. (Bonus points for having great Wi-Fi coverage there as well!) We will be back to Amsterdam in the near future and when we do, the Alp Hotel will definitely be on our list.

Clean, Great Location, But Extra fees

The Alp Hotel is in a great location, right next to a bus stop that takes you right to Amsterdam Centraal. There was enough room for our family. The guy at the front desk was friendly & helpful.

The only issue we had was the unexpected additional charges. Apparently there was an extra tax that hadn't been included in the original cost of the room. It was about $20.

Also, when I booked the room, I thought we could fit our family of four into a room with three beds because our youngest is small enough to share a bed with my husband and I. However, the hotel wouldn't allow us to stay without paying another $60 for the extra person. Even after paying more, we didn't receive any extra bedding, so she still ended up sleeping with us. I realize this was my error for not confirming the correct number of people, but it ended up costing more than I feel was reasonable.

Great Stay but could be improved

The Good: Location was great, not to far of a walk to major attractions, located right by a tram stop which is very convenient. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean, room was very appealing, clean, and welcoming!
Things that could be improved: Bed mattresses were not very comfortable, and the noises from each floor can be heard. I'm not sure if this is a Dutch thing or not, but there aren't bed sheets, just a comforter and mattress sheet cover. It can get pretty warm in the room even with the door open, there isn't much air movement. They did provide a small desk fan however this didn't do to much. If you have issues with stairs then this might be a pass as there is no lift and the stairs are quite steep (like many in Amsterdam).
Overall: I'd stay here again if it were in winter where I knew the heat wouldn't be an issue. The hotel overall was in great shape, welcoming, and the staff was exceptional. With a few tweaks this could be a 5/5!

There are so many positives about this hotel. It is super super clean and the staff are really friendly and helpful. The room was fitted with a new jacuzzi bath and we got free chocolates in the room every day. There's even a sink and a fridge in the room.
However, it was a bit further away from the main sites than I would have liked and was situated right by a busy tram and road junction. The trams were really noisy although they did stop running overnight. The walls of the hotel are also very thin and there is limited space in the corridor, so if guests come in chatting at normal volume, the acoustics can make it quite loud. The hotel supplies earplugs and I now know why.
It is not clear from the website if breakfast is provided or available. It is NOT. They have an arrangement with a local cafe where you can order breakfast to be delivered but this was a bagel shop and not what we wanted for breakfast. I woukd recommend the Breakfast Club which is about a 5 min walk away.
On the whole, there are so many plus points. It depends what you want in a hotel I guess.

All staff are super friendly and accommodating. They even helped us carry our bags esp there’s no elevator. It is in a corner so transportation is so much easier to access and walkable to places like Jordaan area. The room we stayed in is small, but clean and cute with a balcony. Overall, I recommend this place.

Yes the stairs are typically Dutch steep worth the 40 plus stairs to have a room at the top with a spa bath and garden view .comfortable beds it was a bijoux and comfortable room.
So easy to negotiate transport to and from central station as the no 13 tram stops outside the hotel and they send an email with the details before you arrive with details how to get to the hotel.
5 stars all round .

The location is incredible, beautiful area, safe, plenty of restaurants, close to many point of interests and a great food marker literally across the street. Staff was very attentive and helpful. Breakfast was very good and coffee/tea available around the clock. There is a beautiful patio at the back. Only caution is that there are 4 floors and there is no lift. You need to take a narrow winding staircase, so I will not recommend to those with mobility issues.

I have stayed in this hotel 3 times now and the staff never fail in the effort they put in to ensuring people enjoy their stay. The hotel is spotlessly clean. The breakfast offers a wide continental choice, there is unlimited hot drinks all day/night. You get bottled water, an apple and a chocolate in your room every day. Love it here. There is a tram stop right outside for ease of exploring the city and again staff will advise on the best teams to get you where you want to go.

Nice location. Easy to find. Worth the buck. Only thing is it does not have a lift but I've noticed this is common in Amsterdam. And again employees were nice enough to check us in early and help transport our luggages. Would deff come back here again!

Phenomenal hotel for seeing the city - great location for taking the tram system that can get you to the city's landmarks. They are also right across the street from a grocery store where you can buy bulk stroopwafel and cheese to take home as souvenirs.

Even better, the staff are super friendly and kind and happy to share information on things to see and do. Rooms are definitely small but cosy, and they don't have low ceilings.

This was a great place to stay. Stag was very helpful and accommodating. The breakfast was a huge bonus every morning. The only down side was that front rooms were noisy at night as they are on the tram stop in front of hotel. But this was also a plus to walk out of hotel to the tram stop! Omit and Tahir were great hosts!

The Hotel was very nice and the location excellent right on the tram line. This made it possible to see everything we wanted in a short timeframe. The staff did everything to make your stay comfortable and did a great job attending to details. Water every day, an apple and a chocolate. Very nice! Breakfast was very good. I can’t lie the steps to the fourth floor were difficult but they helped with the luggage in and out. WiFi did not reach the 4th floor so it that is important to you then to. have WiFi in the room it will be a problem. It is in a good location but the area is not noisy.

Brilliant hotel with super-friendly staff, excellent transport links, nice design touches and sparkling clean rooms. Be prepared for walking stairs but you are in Amsterdam so that’s normal if you want to be in a period building. You will be rewarded with a nice breakfast!

The staff were so helpful throughout our stay, the hotel was spotlessly clean and the breakfast offered a good choice of continental fare. There was a drink machine in reception which you could use all day free of charge and fresh water, an apple and a chocolate placed in your room everyday. This is the second time I’ve stayed here and will definitely come back here again.

From the moment you step into the hotel the staff look after you.

The attention to detail is breath-taking. From the beautiful fresh flowers in your room and in the dining area. Free hot drinks and fresh fruit to have in the relaxing lobby area or in your room.

This is an ideal boutique hotel for a long weekend, very well positioned near a tram and walking distance to the main areas. The staff were particularly helpful and friendly and couldn't do more to make your stay as good as possible. Breakfast was very good and the rooms were very clean - and cleaned every day. Had a nice little balcony where you could sit, drink coffee and watch the world go by. Would definitely recommend and stay here again

This property is amazing! My welcome into the property was nothing but fantastic! Sofi ( I hope I spelled her name correctly) was Excellent! She made us feel so welcome and took her time to give us all the information that was needed for our stay. Just base on her alone I would stay at this hotel! The room was nice for a three person stay and the balcony was amazing. We loved our room! The property itself is nice. The only issued we had was coming into the hotel after hanging out. I don’t really care for checking in when coming in after 11pm. It was kinda of a hassle when all we wanted to do was just go in and come back to our room. Other than that I would say our stay was excellent!!

The Alp reaches the highest peak!

The Alp was something very special. Great staff who were helpful beyond belief who seemed interested in our journey and determined to ensure that we felt at home. It meant a great deal to us. Special touches like toiletries, endless supply of fruit and coffee and great advice on where to go, how to get there and what to eat ensured a fabulous time in Amsterdam. We will never forget The Alp Hotel!

Hotel perfectly situated for easy access to major tourist sites. Staff could not be more helpful, kinder or friendlier. A real selling point for this hotel. Breakfast, buffet style, was very good with a range of bread and pastries. Rooms were clean, though small and hot water was very hot! Trams were noisy but 1. You get used to it and 2. Windows are being upgraded in November 18. Would advise anyone to book airport transfer through taxi with hotel. Excellent restaurants close by. Would thoroughly recommend the bazar situated in an old church and the meatless district across the road from the hotel. Highly recommend!

Well located City hotel

Excellent reception upon arrival, with a full explanation for customer expectation. Excellent introduction to Amsterdam and the attractions with full guidance on tram service and you can book tickets via reception for trips and day passes on travel. The rooms were compact and the stairs are not for the faint-hearted however the conditions of the rooms and the cleaning service are excellent. You can get a breakfast buffet daily (included in the booking) and free fruit and hot drinks all day. The staff are really welcoming and very knowledgeable of the area supporting their guests at all times when required in a pleasant manner. There are plenty of restaurants nearby to choose for evening meals and coffee shops everywhere that offer good quality lunches. An amazing experience made all the better from Alp hotel.

Highly reccomended!

I would highly reccomend anyone to stay at the Alp Hotel. The friendliness of the staff made such a difference in our Amsterdam experience. A+ on all aspects- including a very nice breakfast and tons if help booking tickets to almost any excursion you can think of. My only problem was that I had a leg injury and going up and down the steep steps was difficult, but almost all hotels in Amsterdam have steep steps so it was to be expected. The rooms are clean and nice with nice linens and lots of light. A great experience!

Nice clean hotel. Close to centre

Hotel rooms are lovely and clean, pleasant helpful staff. Breakfast is plentiful with a good choice. Staircase is very steep and could do with a makeover, walls need painting and carpet stained. Hot drinks are free and available at any time of the day or night. Fresh fruit and bottle water put in rooms daily. Overall a nice little hotel, tram stops right outside hotel and takes u to the centre.

Nice and friendly

Very nice place that is small but quaint. Friendly staff that are on hand to offer any queries and give complimentary hot drinks throughout your stay. Room was standard but nothing to complain about with a balcony overlooking the garden. Breakfast was a quite extensive range of cold only options. Location is out the centre a little but with a tram stop right outside the door.

This small hotel is well located for transport and Amsterdam tours. Our room was very small so I would try for the larger rooms if staying for several days, it was a little difficult to unpack our cases due to the room size. The hotel staff was great, a light breakfast was more than adequate to start the day. I would stay at this hotel again

Great hotel, very friendly

This is a very friendly hotel, stairs a bit tricky but the overall stay was excellent, the staff made up for the climb to the 3rd floor. Breakfast was excellent.

Friendly staff but poor building

To start with positive points, the staff were very helpful and the breakfast was good. The location is great if you want to attend a meeting downtown or to discover Amsterdam.
Regarding negative aspects, the room was not clean enough and it was also too small that we could barely move even for one step. There was too much noise coming from the streets the entire night. Moreover, The building is very old and the stairs are very dangerous for visitors.

Amazing stay in Amsterdam. Totally worth it!!

It was a totally worth it stay. Alp hotel is located right in front of a metro station in downtown. Everything is just 5 mins away from here.
Our room was spacious, clean & comfortable. The balcony made it all the more worth it.
Mesul was very helpful in every way. He's a great staff. We loved the stay, the service & everything. Just the breakfast menu could be a little more varied.

Great location and staff.

Only negative is the dark, steep stairs. Luckily we were on the first floor. OSHA wouldn't approve. I knew it ahead of time thro. Although this is pretty typical in Europe, it was always an adventure going up and down, especially with the luggage.

Amsterdam Budget Hotel

This is a great budget hotel (no A/C, no elevator) with fabulous service and an outstanding breakfast. This is our second time at this hotel and we will return. It is on a main tram line a few stops past Anne Frank House. Many restaurants and laundry facilities nearby. In a front room, you will hear the trams, the back rooms are quiet. The Wi-Fi works great.

Ideally located close to Vondelpark and the centre

Great location, lovely breakfast area with back garden and free fruit all day long.
The staff were fantastic and very warm.
Vondelpark, Jordaan and all central locations within 15mins walking distance, away from the noisy centre.
I booked late so I didn't get the lovely back rooms with the balcony and garden view so had to settle for a noisy small front room.
Lack of lift made it difficult to walk up 3 floors.

Good experience

The customer service was very good. We have been offered a complimentary drink on arrival and we have been given lots of information. The communal areas are well presented and clean. Decent selection for the buffet breakfast. The location of the hotel is convenient, within walking distance to most attractions.
The room was very small but clean and the beds comfy. Soap & shampoo were not replenished every day but were available on request.
We would come back as overall it was very good value for money!

The hotel is on the main road and any rooms facing the main road are very noisy. Our room was very small, just big enough for two single beds. There is no lift and the stairs are very steep and winding.
