The hotel was in a neighborhood but very close to walk to food. The food hall, a block away, was 10x better than the usual US food courts. We enjoyed the friendly staff. We stayed here at the beginning of our trip and came back at the end.

Interesting hotel, particularly the building it's in, given it's a former tram depot.

We did have a bit of a confusing moment when I thought I had booked a twin for my friend and me, and we were given a double. We made do for the first night but got moved to twins for the second.

Decor is modern and hotel is clean. The Food-mart next to the hotel is a great place to eat. Bathroom in superior room is big and beautiful however the saloon style door did not provide much privacy.

I will admit, we were somewhat hesitant about staying here after reading the reviews of the weird bathroom configuration. I am so glad we decided to take the chance. We loved this hotel. It was incredibly quiet and comfortable, and we did not have any issues with the bathroom. It is an easy walk to the city center, and there are tons of food options and a large grocery store near by. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Amsterdam.

Hotel De Hallen was hands down the best hotel we stayed at while on our Europe trip! We loved the unique charm of it being built in a former tram station and loved the interior design. The hotel itself was beautiful, rooms were kept clean and were very comfortable, and the location was fantastic for exploring Amsterdam. In addition, they also rented out bikes so you can explore the town in true Amsterdam fashion! Can’t recommend it enough!!

Positives – staff was friendly, room was dark, shower pressure was solid. Location is a short tram ride or 25 minute walk into the city. Spaces were nicely done. Location next to the food hall gave plenty of dining options.
Negitives. This place is pretty much a dorm room. Never stayed at a hotel with concrete floors and zero windows. One pillow on each bed. Wi-Fi in room was not existent. Beds are foam with big body impressions. Looking back, over 90% of the pictures on the app are the community Spaces and very little pictures of the actual rooms themselves.
Feels like a college dorm room. Asked the front desk about nearby breakfast recommendations, and he didn’t know of any.

Very nice place. For the price we paid, I think they could’ve offered continental breakfast. Location was what we needed to walk to brkfst, trams and trains.. People at the desk were helpful. Shower & bathroom layout w/window into bedrm was awkward. The 6 inches of space on either side of sink was a bit tight. Room & closet were spacious. No drawers though. Electrical outlets met our needs for adapter & USA plug ins. On line directions to hotel were exact for train, trams and walking but it took a few minutes to locate the sign for the hotel. Lovely location in a safe pleasant square. Enjoyed taking the tram in and out. Good food hall around the corner where we enjoyed some spicy margaritas in the evening. Room was in decent size and very clean. Staffs are friendly and helpful. 4-6 min walk to tram. Neighborhood is quiet. Only problem for us is: there is no elevator for the floor 2 (floor start from 0). And there is no porter to help you with the heavy luggages. On-duty staff maybe a young woman that can’t help you much.

Hotel De Hallen is amazing. Its an old tram depot that has been renovated into a really cool hotel. The rooms are well provided with really good en-suites. The hotel is so quiet and the surrounding neighbourhood felt realltly safe, with lots of families about in the morning. Next door is Foodhallen which is a really cool place with lots of food vendors & bars & music.

Brilliant hotel and reasonable price

First impressions were a modern and quirky hotel, built within the old tram repair building. It’s a compact hotel by has all you need. A bar, breakfast, vending machine lots of seating around and fantastic stylish rooms. It’s about a 20min walk into the centre, great on nice says, but as it rained all the time we were there we caught the tram. Would definitely go to this hotel again!

Lovely hotel and amazingly friendly staff. Breakfast was good, recommend ordering from the menu.

Rooms and neat and tidy, plenty of space with a well equipped bathroom - both a large bath and separate large shower.

Only a few minor issues such as two single beds pushed together which caused some discomfort for a couple. Some lamps in room not working - neither caused any real issues and would come back!

The only positive thing I can say about this property is that it is in a convenient location to get to public transit and restaurants. The staff (for the most part) were incredibly rude and the hotel policies are ridiculous. On the first night, we went to the front desk to request an extra pillow. There were 2 small pillows on our bed at check in. We were told by the front desk person, “We don’t do that here.” The next day, we were trying to get take out and bring it back to the hotel so we could put our baby down for a nap. One of the staff stopped us as we walked in and told us that the hotel does not allow food inside so we would have to take our food and eat outside. If this is truly a policy, why is it not written anywhere? Why do you not tell guests this information during checkin? The room itself had these thick glass doors to the bathroom that pop and creak when you open and close them, so it sounds like they are going to fall off and break every time they move. There was also black mold growing on the ceiling in the shower. Our room door also had to be slammed every time to close it. Overall, I would not stay here again, and I would not advise others to stay here.

Beautiful, stylish hotel in a really cool part of the city. Attached to a food hall. Plenty of bars, cafes, restaurants nearby.
The room was comfortable.
Only downside was the outside room wasn’t really an outside room, it looked onto a corridor. I always like a room with a window that can be opened for fresh air. I would have liked to have known that.

The location of the hotel was great and the lobby area was quite nice. While the room was fine, I was disappointed that they had made up my double bed with individual bedding although I wanted it made for a couple. When I asked them for a larger blanket they said they were unable to fix that until the next day. Unfortunately my stay was only one night. Also, while I knew it was atrium still I expected something that had a window that looked down on a lobby. Our window opened right into a meeting room. The shades were closed the entire time for privacy.
