The staff were exceptionally profreeional and hospitable. All conveniences were met. However bottled water is limited to the first night only which was odd for a hotel of this calibre. Supermarkets were not within walking distance however there were convenience stores nearby. The hotel was exceptionally clean unlike all of the surrounding areas including the train station which seems to be neglected by way of sanitation.

Amazing location! Just steps away from the Sloterdijk train station and easy access to Grand Central Amsterdam with 1 stop and 2 stops away from Schipol airport. The staff were very friendly and helpful with assisting me to plan my days. The beds are super comfy! The breakfast is a full buffet, no a la carte menu items. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is in a great location, conveniently close to the train station, and it is clean and well-maintained. The young lady who checked me in was very pleasant and helpful, though I unfortunately didn’t catch her name. However, my experience at checkout was disappointing. The staff member assisting me, Aycha, was unprofessional and seemed bothered by even basic questions, coming across as condescending. This negative interaction significantly impacted my overall experience, leading me to give a lower rating.

Better to stay inside the city

The checkin staff was excellent. The room was difficult to get warm. The shower squealed horribly, presumably from pipe issues, the whole time you were using it. The refrigerator tirned off when you removed the key card from the power slot by the door so nothing stayed cold. While the hotel is near a train station, the Amsterdam public transport system is overly complicated with multiple, separate systems, difficulty getting tickets and inconsistent trains. Stay in the city if you can while vacationing in Amsterdam.

Where do I start...dark, poorly lit corridors. Sticky, stained carpets in bedroom. Shower floods bathroom floor. Everything in room felt sticky. Rooms too hot (air con lowest is 18) AC VERY noisy. Wallpaper peeling, lampshade broken, window would not open. Nespresso machine but off brand capsules, no decaf. Staff did not act on enquiries. Room keys failed twice. I could go on...Will never stay here again, glad only one night or would have went elsewhere. Overall, absolutely awful hotel, avoid!

Family Trip to Amsterdam

We wanted a hotel close to public transportation and reasonable in terms of price. We were absolutely delighted with this hotel's proximity to the train station. It was five minutes away from Amsterdam Central. The hotel was lovely. The room was nice. The beds were extremely comfortable and the shower was fantastic. There was also a Spar across the road in case you needed anything during your stay that the hotel couldn't provide.

Bad air but beautiful inside!

Was awaked by the strong smell of sewage-it sickened me and I requested another room. The one the showed me was smaller and the smell permeated that space too. I had to open the bathroom door to try and get some fresh air in the space because having the a/c air on only seemed to make it worse and opening the windows brought in bugs and the same smell. Sad, cause it’s a beautiful Hotel inside. Difficult to get to though through VERY narrow roads with pedestrians everywhere. No views except the surrounding buildings. Breathing sewage is bad for your health.

When checking-in I did not receive the correct change. I was charged 87 euros for property taxes. I paid 100 euros, but receive 3 as change. After inquiring on this matter, the hotels manager realized I was robbed. I ended up receiving 20 euros (one as compensation). Watch out for this. Besides this minor incident, the hotel is just fantastic !

- The hallways to the rooms are very dark with dim lighting. When you enter the room you have to insert the card into the slot to get electricity - it's impossible to see the slot if it's dark out and there's no light coming in through the windows.

Just returned from my stay here and I had the best time. The hotel was comfortable, clean and in a convenient location from getting around Amsterdam as it’s very close to the station. The staff were so helpful they really went the extra mile to make me feel welcome and catered for. We had a great stay at this hotel. We were in Amsterdam for 4 days, 3 nights and I could not recommend a better hotel. The hotel is just outside Sloterdijk train station, which is one stop away from Schipol airport, which is so convenient when you have baggage with you ! Check in was very fast, and all of the staff were well mannered and always eager to offer advise to us. This was very helpful considering this was out first time in the city. The room was just about the right size for two people, with a very nice bathroom. Breakfast is great too, we got it with our package and definitely recommend as there is a very large range of foods and drinks. I would recommend getting the three day pass on transport as we saved loads of money getting around the city. Thank you Mercure Sloterdijk!

The property has many amenities, including a laundry. The only downside is the distance from the main area's of Amsterdam. By UBER it's about a 30min drive. If you're planning on using public transportation and don't know Dutch it can really be challenging.

We were satisfied with the room, but the garbage cans were not always emptied. The windows could not be opened and even with the windows closed you could hear the noise from outside as if the window was open. This hotel is right next to Sloterdijk station which means getting to/from airport and Centraal by train is fast and easy. But getting to other locations within Amsterdam using train, bus or tram is trickier - so rented bike or Uber is recommended.
We found it much cheaper than four star hotels in the centre of town.
I found the cleanliness less than I would expect from a Mercure hotel with (for example) thick dust on some parts of the carpet.
When we arrived in the room there was a fault with the lighting which resulted in several days of asking for a fix, including miscommunications. After three days of failing to fix the lights we were given a new room.
Restaurants near the hotel close early, and they aren’t great. Don’t rely on getting a decent meal near the hotel, much better choices elsewhere in Amsterdam.

I had $1000 AUD and two gold earrings stolen by housekeeping. BE CAREFUL!!!

You have been warned. Always carry your valuable items on you. I had the worst experience with this hotel.

The housekeeping boy came to \"clean\" my room when I went to breakfast, I saw him leave my room when I came back. After getting back to my room I noticed my items missing.

Later that day, my room was entered. When I had left for the day, I put a glass behind the door and took a picture, then displayed the 'Do Not Disturb' option on the door. When I came back, the glass was out of its place, meaning someone entered my room. It was very uneasy to think of what was done in my room. Hotel management didn't look at CCTV, or check who entered my room.

The manager, Mitzy, didn't help the situation at all. I was told that there was \"nothing they could do\", and to \"cut my losses\".

The location is ideal if you want to stay in one place and see Amsterdam as well as surrounding cities. You can get anywhere conveniently from Sloterdijk station across the street. The only amenity that is missing is a microwave.

Barely Amsterdam

The hotel is fine, but if you are traveling here on a European vacation this is barely Amsterdam. We chose it because all the reviews said \"it's one easy train stop away from Amsterdam Central Station,\" which is true... but then it's a 30-40 minute walk from there to anything you want to see. If you only have two days and want to spend one visiting the windmills and another visiting Amsterdam then this is a convenient location between the two. But if you want to be able to walk easily around the Amsterdam that you imagined this is not where you want to stay. It's a 30 minute trip every time you want to go anywhere in town. We also booked a family room for 4 and it was not as pictured on the site. There was barely space to walk or put anything. Otherwise the hotel was fine, just not what we were hoping for. But on the bright side it did have nice staff, a decent gym, a few good cafes nearby and air conditioning!

Large and sunny room

The room was large and sunny. The only soap in the bathroom was in the shower-I have never seen it before. There is no USB ports for charging. The front desk sells the USB plugs. The nice breakfast was on the top floor with open views. The hotel was strict not to let us into the room until the check-in time...

Comfortable place to stay

Pros… really comfortable beds, crisp white linens… large bathroom… really helpful and friendly people at the front desk… 5-10 minute train ride into Centraal
Cons… hallways a bit dark, rooms a bit small but we were only there to sleep… out of Ams city so when the train system went down for about 16 hrs last night and this am… $45 euro ride… but not the hotels fault.
Laundry machines/ dryers handy but really hard to work with the app but the desk was very helpful to us… thanks!!

3-5 mins away from Sloterdijk Station, Reception desk always friendly, Roof top bar and restaurant recommended on a rainy day Or one could visit Cafes, Pubs and restaurants near by or at the Rail/bus Station:
Starbucks, Albert Heijns, Smullers, Julias, Doner Shop, And a lot more around, not far from either Central Station Amsterdam and Schiphol Airport.
Breakfast was fine, specially the mini bakery goods were just amazing (danish, croissants, chocolatine etc)

This was our first trip to Europe and it was a lovely stay. Fadoua was the sweetest and most helpful person upstairs in the restaurant and really made a connection with everyone who came in, including me. by the end of our trip, we had become friends! The rest of the staff was extremely accommodating and helpful. Would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling, especially due to the close proximity to the train station and tram/bus stops. We will be back!

Fantastic location

The hotel was very comfortable and in a terrific location for travel. The restaurant upstairs was only open for breakfast so an evening drink was not possible. I really liked the shower and controls. Wish I had that in my house.

Cant believe the high charge for car parking at the hotel. had to walk two blocks for better parking. The shower glass leaked form the back side to under the vanity and got my last pair of clothes clothes soaked that i was going to wear. Had to try and dry them with the hair dryer.
Room service came and made up our room and we came back late from a full day out. Got up in the middle of the night to use the washroom. Very little toilet paper on the roll with no back up roll to use.
Room was paid in full before we got there, upon arrival we were told we had to pay the taxes and fees before check in. We did so, and was told good to go. On check out we was notified we didn't pay it all and had to pay more. This made me feel like i was nickel and dimed to death for the whole stay with your place.

Mercure made our stay in Amsterdam comfortable. It is accessible to Central station .
You can easily access a bus, tram and train as its very near sloterdjik station. Staff were friendly and rooms were cleaned
daily. Removed 1 star as their staff knocked on our door to check the windows and to give us blanket which we never asked. Otherwise, it is a good place to stay after a day’s activity outside.
