Smartments Berlin Karlshorst is for those who travel on a budget. I travel a lot and prefer to stay in apartment hotels. I think this hotel is one of the best in this category.

I was in an apartment with separate bedroom for two weeks. The kitchen was useful and had what you need, e.g. hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, Nespresso, plates, pots, pans, cutlery. You might want to take a knife sharpening block because the ('sharp') knives could barely cut butter. The living area, bedroom and bathroom are all fine. There's lots of space. There's some noise from the street outside, but it's a quiet area generally and the noise stops in the evening. There's loads of wardrobe space in the bedroom. The TVs have around 20 German terrestrial channels. To connect your own devices, you'll need a long HDMI cable. Check-in is done on a device; I never spoke to a staff member during my two weeks. There's a laundry room in the basement with washing machines and dryers. It's €2 per wash or drying cycle which can be paid by cash or card. The location is very handy, with regular S-Bahn trains to Mitte (takes 15mins) and trams to other locations.
There's a café on the ground floor. I had coffee and a pastry there several days. They also sell sandwiches, pizza and alcohol, which other customers seemed to enjoy. Opening hours were all over the place though.
There's a discount supermarket in the same building, which is open 07:00-21:00 except Sunday. It's not fancy but it has the basics. Within a five-minute walk, there are better supermarkets (Edeka), several good restaurants, a bakery and two pharmacies.

This hotel is brilliant: just steps from the train station and tram stops, two grocery stores and eating places. We stayed in a real neighbourhood of friendly people. The view of the vicinity particularly in a golden November was priceless. Communication with staff via WhatsApp was friendly and prompt. The only trouble we had was with the bed which had one side flushed against the wall, making it difficult for the one on the side of the wall to get in and out of bed.

practical as described by its name -\"smart\". Clean and fit our budget. We realized it is quite far out from all the tourist attractions but we went ahead with this place anyway as we saw that it is right by the train station. However, the commute is quite limited as there is only one train line. we were fine dealing with the transferring to different stations until there were issues with trains schedule and maintenance on some of the days, and that became inconvenient. We are from NYC so are used to public transportation (this feels like living in Elmhurst and commuting to Manhattan). The area itself is convenient in terms of getting to various grocery stores, and pharmacies.

Mostly this place was a nice place to stay. The S stain entrance is right next to the building and the tram drops off in front of it, so public transportation was great. If you plan to do laundry do so at your own risk, the dryer did not work and of course the front desk didn’t care because they are leased and do not own them. As a business you should know that if it’s in your building it reflects on you. Provide a working service or don’t provide one. That was my only issue, the coffee shop was nice to have in the morning and the access to public transportation were great. Also it was very safe with the key card system.

One of the best stays ever. I do not where to start. The room was very nicely appointed, cozy, stylish even. All little details are thought off, like sockets in convenient places. Furniture is new and convenient to store your things (I had a lot of stuff and all fit comfortably). The wi-fi signal was great. The place is exactly as shown in the photos and related information. I was initially nervous about the lack of a 24h reception desk, as I had a late flight into Berlin, but the instructions before arrival were clear and check-in was super easy. Would stay again!

The apartment had everything you could possibly need. Fully equipped kitchenette, desk space to work at and plenty storage to place all of your items. The place was very clean and service was provided a couple times a week with changing bed sheets and towels. Only thing I would have liked is having a couch in the living room instead of two chairs. The next door cafe owner is unpleasant and the cafe inventory delivery uses the elevator, takes priority over guest use of the elevator. This is not a BUSINESS hotel/apartment. It is fine as a tourist / student / youth accomodation but..... no air conditioning and alot of street noise when you open the window to cool the room. Close to Metro is about the only good thing I can say. Restaurants and businesses in area shut down by 7 pm.

Overall I enjoyed my stay at SMARTments in Karlshorst. It was easy to check-in and the facility is located right by the bus stop and train station. It was also great to have two different grocery stores within the block. Only complaints would be... a few nights were pretty hot and the facility had no AC and a tiny floor fan. There was also a TON of construction going on in the area so don't ever plan to sleep in until that is complete (but not their fault). Otherwise I appreciated the stay and the price was on point. I would stay there again.

Nice studio apartment
The room was excellent and really comfortable. They had a coffee machine and provided the nespresso which was great for starting my day. The only negative was the building was still not complete and the buildings works continue inside and out, but that did not affect the quality of my stay. The staff were friendly and also very accomdating. when I extended my checkout time from 11am to 2.30pm because of my flight was at 5pm, it wasn't an issue. I would definitely stay there again.

Check in hat nicht reibungslos funktioniert plus dort war keiner erreichbar. Das Zimmer war dreckig auf den Boden waren weiße Flecken und die Ablage war auch nicht gereinigt. Da kein Personal vorhanden war bzw. Keiner an der Rezeption konnte man auch kein neues Zimmer bekommen. Ich bin sehr enttäuscht da ich zwei Tage dort übernachten musste.

We loved the location, it’s ideal to come and go by train. The area is great, we knew it cause we once lived in the neighborhood and moved abroad. We basically visited our old home.
The things is, it’s loud, the rooms are extremely warm and that for cold nights in April.
The price is unbeatable tho compared to many other places and being able to cool or warm up some food in the small kitchen is also very nice.
All in all we will probably come back in case there is nothing cheaper that compares with the minimal standart :)

The room was quite dirty upon arrival. Ask at the desk if they could do a quick clean, and they agreed. Couldn't see a difference afterwards so I'm not sure they actually did clean. The staff were all lovely.

Communication was good. The hotel sent an email detailing what to do upon arrival. Also, the staff was nice and efficient with helping our check-in. Room was in good condition. Opening the window can be a bit noisy due to traffic, but that's expected for staying in an urban area. The S-bahn is right next to the hotel, so that's nice and convenient.

Da wir keine E-Mail mit dem Zugangscode erhalten haben blieb die Tür zum Hotel bei Ankunft zu. Für uns eine neue Erfahrung. Nur durch Gäste die das Hotel verlassen wollten bekamen wir Zutritt. Die Zimmer verfügen nicht über eine Klimatisierung, daher war es vorallem Nachts zu heiß mit ca. 25 Grad obwohl es draußen schon abgekühlt war. Für Erfrischung über geöffnete Fenster ist es in der Lage zu laut da die Bahnstation Karlshorst direkt nebenan ist. Die Betten sind etwas kleiner als gewohnt mit 160cm Breite, die Matratzen könnten bequemer sein. Nichtsdestotrotz waren die Zimmer modern, sauber und gepflegt die Größe der Zimmer für ein Businesshotel akzeptabel. Das Personal was gem. Konzept nur wenig für die Gäste verfügbar ist, war freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Ich war für 9 Nächte im Smartments business karlshorst umd bin äußerst zufrieden! Die Ausstattung ist super, es ist sauber, die Lage ist sehr gut und das Reinigungspersonal sehr freundlich. Das einzige was mich persönlich etwas gestört hat war, dass es nur Vorhänge an den Fenstern gibt und keine Rolläden. Dadurch war es morgens sehr schnell hell im Zimmer und da ich sehr Lichtempfindlich bin war das eher von Nachteil. Das ist natürlich mehr ein persönliches Problem, es wäre trotzdem praktisch wenn Rolläden angebracht werden, dann können sich die Gäste selber aussuchen wie sehr sie das Zimmer abdunkeln wollen :) Oh und die Heizung wurde nicht richtig warm auch wenn man diese auf das maximum stellte. Ansonsten alles top

Super Unterkunft! Es war sauber, in der Küche war alles vorhanden was man zum kochen benötigt und das Bett war gemütlich. Ein paar kleine negative dinge gab es trotz allem natürlich auch. Der Wasserdruck der Dusche war sehr gering, man muss selbst saugen und Boden wischen(putzkammer vorhanden), die lüftung im zimmer ließ sich nicht ausschalten was mich in der Nacht ein bisschen gestört hat und die liebe Parkpkatzsuche war nervig (großstadt halt) Aber alles in allem würd ich wieder dort Urlaub machen.
