Nice independent hotel

Great small independent hotel in the eastern suburbs. Very good public transport links from hotel to key attractions across Berlin and the Airport. Some nice eating choices near by. The Karlshorst Museum is also close to hotel which is worth a visit in its own right.

Nice sized room with a comfortable bed. Not much in the way of storage. No air con so it was very humid at times as Berlin had a heatwave at the time of our stay. Karlshorst S-Bahn was a five minute walk away and there were a number restaurants on the main drag that the hotel was situated on. Unfortunately, the main road was extremely busy with traffic, trams and emergency vehicles. The trams in Karlshorst run 24 hours a day. With no air con the window had to stay open. I had ear plugs so it wasn’t the end of the world but I’d recommend taking some. In summary, for the price it was a good place and the young chap on reception was very helpful and pleasant.

Okayish hotel - you get what you pay for I guess.

Room was decent size with a nice desk and chair for working.

The shower was confusing initially - shower head on one wall but the controls were on the opposite wall, not something I am familiar with so it took some playing around but was fine. The shower head was very dirty for a hotel (completely covered in limescale) and put me off showering to be honest.

The view was good and lots of nice shops nearby, walking distance to bus/trains. Lots of happening in the area so very good location.

All good, just didn't like the bathroom much - could do with an upgrade.

First of all they didn't have my reservation. I booked comfort twin room but they gave me single bed room saying that they don't have my reservation even though I showed them reservation on Expedia. They charged for 2 Croissants even though I ordered 1. There was mistake in the final bill and took 105 Euros extra from me and I don't know when will I get it back. The only good thing - the room was okay compared to the price.

It took 3 attempts to get me a room (first one wasn’t ready, second one looked like the door kicked in so I didn’t feel safe, third room was the first room now ready) which was spotlessly clean though very sparse. Flat screen tv, comfortable bed, wardrobe, table and chairs, large bathroom with a balcony and the bed was made and room cleaned every day. Good room temperature too. If you’re looking for a budget stay, purely to sleep this is for you. There are no tea/coffee making facilities and although it says you can buy breakfast in the restaurant below this wasn’t available during my stay. Staff were friendly but didn’t offer information freely. I found out through other guests you could pay to have WiFi though I didn’t do this.

SLEPT ON A PARK BENCH THANKS TO MANAGEMENT! They changed the lock on the late night entrance without informing guests. I had to sleep on a park bench at 3am on the 2nd night. All they needed to do was inform guests and issue them with an old key and a new key. Was the most dreadful experience of my life when staying at a hotel. Also, the room entrances have rotten door frames and so you can enter locked rooms. For this reason the hotel needs to be shut down. The location is not good either if you really want to experience the city.

OK if on a strict budget.

Walk in and the receptionist was having an argument with a women and then rolled her eyes at me. Put in a disabled person's room with toilet about 3ft off the ground with rails and walk in shower, stained leaking ceilings, broken blinds in bathroom so people can see in, old towels, stained toilet paper, no soap and loud couples every night. If backpacking on a budget fine, if not avoid. Didn't say a word or make eye contact when checking out.

Abysmal room, the lock was broken, shower broken, WiFi didn’t work that you had to pay for. The staff were not very helpful. And when we had to check out at 3:30am, they key to the night door didn’t work and we had to scale a 10ft fence to get out of the hotel! Luckily we managed to get out a fire escape to the back of the hotel court and the taxi driver had to help us get over this fence. Luckily we’re both agile enough to get up and over but anyone older wouldn’t have been able to have gotten out and wouldn’t be able to get out the hotel until 8am when the staff are back and we’d have missed our flight! Would not recommend this place at all.

I did not pay a lot for my 3 night stay and only used the hotel for washing and sleeping.

The bedroom and bathroom were very basic, the towels were rough, some items were not attached to the wall properly. The blind on the window was broken, the carpet had stains and the door was paper thin, meaning noise carried easily.

Having said all of that, I knew I was opting for pretty much the cheapest hotel in the area, so none of this was really an unpleasant surprise. The location is very handy (for me at least) being a short walk to the train station and with nearby supermarket / cafe etc.

Staff were friendly and the room seemed pretty clean. As far as I'm concerned I got what I paid for.

Worst Hotel i have ever been to.
When I first entered the room, the garbage can was not emptied. They do not clean the room everyday, just fold the blanket. Soap dispenser and shower head stand were broken.the staff is really badly trained. Never Again

Hotel furiture is very outdated, bamboo beds were squeaking, there was unbearable smell on the staircase and the elevator wasn't working. Walls are thin, we could hear guests talking in other rooms. WiFi is not free, but very expensive!

On the third floor the shower lacked sufficient water pressure.
The showerhose leaked most of the waterpressure away before entering the head.
TV did not work,
Pull down window blinds did not stay down.

They sold me a parking spot for 4 days and it was a daily nuissance to actually use it because staff or restaurant guests would block the entrance or the spots themselves. This lead to management knocking on doors to find the owner of a car in the early morning even though my numberplate and phonenumber was registered. Finding the owner of a car ( usually it was staff or a restaurant guest blocking the exit ) took sometimes up to 20 minutes. This happened again and again, they did not learn. Dissapointing. Staff came across as unable to come up with something to fix this issue.

Suite war nicht wie gebucht. Keine 65m², keine 2 Bäder, ein Schlafzimmer gleich Wohnzimmer, vermutlich notdürftig eingerichtet, da wir auch keine Nachttischlampen hatten. Man konnte das Licht nur im Flur an der Eingangstür betätigen, schlecht wenn man nachts mal zur Toilette muss. Eine verschlossenen Tür hinter der sich angeblich ein zweites Bad mit Wasserschaden befindet. Hier vermuten wir auch ein zweites Schlafzimmer, was die m² dann passend machen könnte. Keines der beiden TV-Geräte funktionierte, erst nach vielem Beschweren (insgesamt zwei Tage lang) wurde an einem der beiden Geräte ein Kabel angeschlossen. Kein Mineralwasser im Zimmer. Auf Nachfrage weiß man davon nichts. ACHTUNG ABZOCKE beim W-LAN, Kosten 4,-€ pro Gerät. Bei dem Preis erwartet man natürlich kein Nobelhotel aber hier gibt es nicht einmal die gebuchten Leistungen. Sauberkeit war in Ordnung, insgesamt sehr abgewohntes Hotel, alle Halterungen für Seifen-, Duschspender sowie WC-Papier defekt. Absolut katastrophaler Service an der Rezeption. Man hat keinerlei Handhabe bei Beschwerden und wird an ein angebliches Beschwerdemanagement verwiesen. Keinerlei Entgegenkommen und sogar frech gegenüber den Gästen.

Our room was quite nice and bigger than we expected, with a partitioned sitting area. Room was very good value for money. Only problem was the room was not cleaned properly every day. Only bathroom was cleaned. Towels were replaced when we left ours on the floor and the rubbish bin was emptied everyday. The table tops could have done with a wipe down and maybe the room vacuumed at least once during our 6 night stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel is in a nice suburb with a supermarket only a short walk away, as well as a s bahn stop a 5 minute walk away which gets you very easily into the city. Was a lovely experience and will definitely stay there again.

Good location supermarket restaurant etc all near by handy to tram and train . Not the ritz but clean albeit it a bit dated and nice area .the staff are friendly and helpful .was working around Berlin and this was great location to access the motorways /main trunk roads for getting around the city.

I've stayed in a lot of hotels, but this is hands down the worst. We got back to our room on the second day of our stay at around 11pm. It was then that we found our room key-card didn't work so we were locked out. There was no hotel staff to help at all. We managed to catch the bar staff just as they were leaving the building. They managed to get a hold of someone to come and help us. After a 30 minute wait in the 1st floor lobby someone finally turned up and got our key working. We were told at this point that room keys need to be activated everyday. Well this is the first time I have ever heard of anything like that and no-one at the hotel told us that when we checked in. When you add to this the fact that the room was stinking of cigarettes it adds up to a very disappointing stay. I would recommend that people avoid this hotel and stay elsewhere, like the street as that would be more comfortable and less smelly.
Also, we found note that seemed to state that we were staying at a different hotel, just what exactly is the name of Hotel Karlshorst (this is the name of where we booked!!!)

Customer service was next to non existent, there was multiple times when I was standing at reception watching the man behind the bar file papers or talk on the phone without any acknowledgement at all. In general it's nice hotel, very clean, friendly staff. However there are a lot things to improve.
My room was very dark - only one light bulb (from required three in a chandelier) was there.
While showering, the water didn't come out to a drain fast enough and a bath tab was kinda flooded with a water. Three big nails were remaining in the cabinet. The elevator didn't work at all.

Clean room, friendly staff, in a good neighbourhood near several food options + late night grocery store, as well as transit options at your doorstep. Only downside is you pay extra for WiFi, 4 euro a day or 12 for a week. All things considered still a decent place to stay for a good price.

The friendly female staff made me feel very welcome.
Not great having to pay 4e for wifi use, never experienced that in any hotel before. Room not cleaned second night.
But for what your paying it's ok. Expect a commute into city centre (20mins). but the S-Bahn karlshorst station is only a 5 min walk.

The hotel was comfortable and clean. The area had many restaurants, bars, and stores. Within 2 blocks of the S Bahn and a tram station was within 100 foot of the hotel. It is about a 30 minute S Bahn ride to the Berlin main station but still easy to get to everything. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again. Room 204.

Very very far from the city centre, returning late is not an option.
The carpet in the room was so dirty and so smelly but other than that the room was clean.
There was no window in the room only the one in the bathroom.
The man at the reception very-very unfriendly and obviusly trying to make things difficult. Does he think he can afford doing this with a hotel like this?

We stayed here in March 2018. We arrived early but room ws free and checked in. When you look at the room it looks like it is old, but i guess this is because of the design. The cleanless perfect, heater and shower perfect! Train station is in 5 minutes walk and easy to get in the center. There is very nice Italian restaurant down the street, highly recomended.

We arrived 1 hour before check-in time and our room was not ready, thought I've made request for a bit earlier check-in during booking. And they couldn't change our room for some other room because none was ready! So I was given a key and then had to find cleaning lady to ask her to prepare my room sooner than others. The manager shoud have done this! I was shocked with such attitude. Finally we got in our room 10 minuts earlier check-in time. I'm sure if we had arrived at 14:00 and hadn't rush them - our room wouldn't have been ready.
Cleaning starts at 8-9 AM with carrying out all the trash from the rooms to the hall where is it placed till afternoon, so you'll be able to see what your neighbours had eaten and drinken.
No fridge, kettle, AC in the room.
Neighbourhood was good.

The Hotel Mardin, Karlshorst was a great place to stay although it was quite a way from the centre of Berlin it was close to Berlin Schonefeld Airport. The staff were friendly and polite, the room clean and comfortable and although there was a little noise from the road the trams seemed to stop running around 11.00pm. Things you need to know, breakfast is not included in the price but paid for daily. It is a buffet but has meat, cheese, eggs, sausage, fruit, bread, cereal, yoghurt etc and you can request an omelette if you wish. There is a surcharge for late arrivals which is not clear on the hotels.com website. There is a train station 300m down the street which will take you into Berlin, but a change of station is required. We would stay here again if we visit Berlin again.

Clean, budget hotel, close to transport links

At first we looked for AirBnB, but they were quite expensive, so we found this hotel at an excellent rate. The rooms were very clean and warm (it was winter). The hotel interior design is rather strange, since bamboo is used for decoration and furnishing, that's why we called it our bamboo hotel. Staff is very helpful.

On average, me and my friends was somewhat dissapointed about our stay at Entree Hotel Karlshorst.

The layout was somewhat clumsy, forcing us through the restauraunt, but that was fine. The young man at the desk was very polite, and very helpfull, giving us a good first impression overall. The people at the reception was overall very polite, kind and respectfull, this pulls the rating up a bit.

Pros:
- Nice bathroom/decent shower.
- Friendly hotel management. (in most cases, did their best to accomodate our wishes!)
- Location was very close to the train station, making it easy to get back and forward to the city.
- Location had plenty of colonial stores + apothecaries nearby.

Cons:
- The key system was OLD huge keys, who worked at more than one door at the same time, which we believe resulted in one of our wallets going missing..
- One of the doors had a busty lock that couldn't open from the inside. It was also hardly fastened, so during our stay it losened. We where told we had to pay for the door by one of the receptionists, while one said we didn't have to. Quite confusing overall.
- The cleaners hardly did anything when cleaning, never got new/clean glasses, nor much else.
- The day we where going to leave one of the cleaners was preparing a room for new guests. He smacked the walls so hard I had to give up on further sleep (at around 7-8 am).

If you are going to stay here, don't expect much, and protect your wallet!

Wouldn't recommend at all.

Now called Hotel Mardin.

On check in was told room booked was not available as the lock on the door had been broken. Manager & Receptionist then had a giggle with each other, a talk in German / other language mentioned Penthouse in English and Manager said Do It to receptionist, as though they were saying wasn't good enough for their penthouse room. Their attitude put me off, completely.

Rooms look lovely in pictures, bamboo all over the place, but beds were terrible. Every night one of the slats on the beds would break - 6 slats went on one of the beds one night photos below - was offered another room, but beds same in other room. Not worth moving.
Hotel right next to tram line - it never stops - noisy all night.
No fridges / kettles in rooms.
Housekeeping was brilliant, but just not enough to make stay enjoyable

Nice accommodation in Karlshorst, Berlin

The hotel is now renamed as Hotel Mardin Karlshorst.
Location was in Karlshorst, a bit outside of city, with tram connection to suburban train (S-Bahn).
Room was clean and had Asian ambience.
Hotel staff members were friendly and talkative.
Breakfast was 8 EUR per person and was acceptable.

Ich landete als Alleinreisender in ein Dachkammer. Die Dachfenster waren zugeklebt. Die Beleuchtung schummrig. Das Holztreppenhaus war dreckig, die automatische Beleuchtung funktionierte im oberen Teil nicht nicht. - Stolperfallen überall.
Ich fragte mich, wer das als Hotel zugelassen hat und wie ein zweiter Fluchtweg funktioniert, falls das Treppenhaus brennen sollte. Aus den schmalen Dachfenstern kommt man jedenfalls nicht.
Nachts wurde ich von einem lauten Streit außerhalb geweckt. - In zwei Nächten ging - wie von Geisterhand der Fernseher nachts an und das Zimmer war taghell erleuchtet. - Meinen Schrecken können Sie sich vorstellen.
An einem Tag funktionierte morgens die Wasserversorgung nicht.
Leider unterlief mir ein Buchungsfehler: Ich hatte versehentlich statt gedacht nur drei statt vier Nächte gebucht. - Eindeutig mein Verschulden. - Dann war ich in der Stadt und kam nach der offiziellen Auscheckzeit zurück. Das Zimmer war geräumt. Alle Sachen von Fremden eingepackt. - Es war eine Zwngsräumung und jemand räumte alles ein.
Was ich mir gewünscht hätte: Telefonische oder Kontaktaufnahme. - Dann hätte man die Angelegenheit schnell klären können. Das Hotel hat doch die Mail Daten.
Ich war geschockt, beschämt und völlig fertig.
Niemals wieder wird mir so ein Fehler passieren, Sie glauben gar nicht, was es mit einem macht, wenn man sein Zimmer zwangsgeräumt vorfindet.
Schrecklich - schrecklich - Der Schock saß sehr tief.
Das Hotel werde ich nie wieder betreten!!!
