Decent for the money, but it’s across the street from a nightclub that even from the farthest away hut you could hear the loud music all the way till 2:00 AM the next morning. Therefore in general I’d probably wouldn’t stay there again even as pretty of a beach view with lake it has.

Such a cute hotel, less than 20 rooms and the grounds were beautiful and maintained. The room was great, A/C worked great and you can’t beat being right on the lagoon. Staff was friendly. They arranged to have our laundry picked up and delivered the following day. By the way it was only about $7 for 25 items!
Breakfast was very very limited, but there was a restaurant next door if you wanted something more substantial.
They have bikes, kayaks and the water was beautiful. We would stay there again.

I would not recommend this hotel. We left midway through our stay due to the rooms being dirty, mold in showers, very limited selection for breakfast, and location not as listed. you barely have anything close. This is not a hotel to stay at with kids. Small stinky rooms.

It was ok - exactly as posted, however the hot water in the shower lasted less than 10 minutes regardless of the time of day. Lots of water pressure and the mattress was very good to sleep on. Pictures made room and bathroom appear much larger than they actually were.

Walls are so thin you hear everything loudly. Dock is so short you would be swimming among the reeds if you got into the water. Only 2 restaurants nearby for dinner; the main part of town is a 25 min walk away.

The photos they show are very altered, the conditions of the hotel are bad, the staff has no training to make you feel welcome, the breakfast is very poor, as well as the service is terrible... you never feel so welcome, we chose to leave early and lose a night. The pool is terrible... what a shame not to feel good and welcome.

The entire property needs repairs, renovations, etc.The bridge planks are broken in some places and nail heads are sticking out. It is dangerous to walk barefoot.

Access was tough. The entry way was through what seemes to bw the back. With no signage no directions. The room was modest but less than what i expected and paid for. It was off to the side of the main building. The \"hotel\" was more of a private home where rooms were rented as hotels rooms.

Clean, quiet place to sleep at a good price.

Free parking on site, but you have to ring the bell at the main gate. Staff was friendly, but spoke little English. The property is large. Our room had a (shared) walk-out balcony with view of trees and lake. Free breakfast was simple, but nice.

Location is only ~6 blocks to the fort and the main town square, which has lovely dining options. The square itself is alive with townsfolk in the evening. Feels more like a real Mexican town than most tourist destinations along the coast. Lovely.

We arrived at 14:45. The person who opened the door immediately said, the check-in is at 15:00! No greetings or anything.

It was the same during the breakfast. It started at 8 AM and the same person told us at 7:50, the breakfast starts at 8!

She also wanted to sell a tour more expensive than what the official prices were.

We booked a standard room, but they gave us a tiny service room \"used\" as a regular room outside of the house (literally beside the service room).

No really happy with our stay there.

The place is beautiful and the hotel is just like in the pictures. It's a very peaceful place with an incredible environment. Additionally, in the center, there are very good restaurants and games for the kids in the square. The only thing I would improve is the breakfast. There were only eggs (scrambled or omelet) and coffee. I would add some toast, butter, cereals, yogurt, etc.

The property is older so keep that in mind. But for me and my wife we were just using this place for a place to sleep and the location being away from the center but close enough to walk to. So per the cost and the location it is well worth it. If you are looking for an actual hotel room feel, then this is not for you. Service was wonderful. But be advised that speaking Spanish will be very helpful not only for hotel communication but also around town.

This property was magnificent, I had the bungalow on the water. The birds the cranes in the morning with the beautiful trees surrounding me hanging over the waters edge was like paradise. It was peaceful, tranquil, and very relaxing, the nice music from the next-door bar was not a bother as it stopped early in the evening, the convenience of walking out onto the beautiful dock, and jumping in the beautiful lagoon was breath taking, the staff were so delightful, and the free breakfast in the morning was excellent, I think it was the most peaceful, relaxing place. I’ve stayed in a long time if you’re a nature lover, and you love to swim this is the best place.

The location of this property cannot be beat. You’re right on the water, and a short walk to anything and everything. The staff was super friendly, and the breakfast was good. Parking is very limited and a tight squeeze, but you don’t want to park on the road or your car will likely be dinged in the night. My main complaint about this property is the mold/mildew in the cabana we stayed in. The smell was so strong, it hits you as soon as the door is open. It was so bad that my throat and eyes were burning by morning. I think one of the big issues is that they need screens on their doors and windows, so air can get in. The mosquitos are so bad that you have to keep everything closed. I think screens would really help, and you wouldn’t have to constantly run the AC. We only stayed for two nights, but I wouldn’t have been able to stay any longer. After leaving my bags and clothes all smelled horribly of mildew.

I can share photos of the unit. There were hand prints above the beds headboard. Not very pleasant to see. Shoe prints on the wall. The room had an unbearable odour. 2 lights not working. Wifi didn’t work at all in the room. The gardens were maintained well. Overall would not recommend at all.

Beautiful property directly on the lagoon with a private pier. The lagoon is heavenly. The most breathtaking sunset and sunrise. The property is nestled in nature. Imagine being in nature camping, but in a nice bungalow.
Breakfast is included and it was delicious. Authentic. Cooked fresh for each family. Walking distance to restaurants.
We booked our boat tour with the hotel. The tours pick you up directly at the hotel’s pier. Hotel pier is nice with a swing where you can swing out into the water. Pier is beautiful and safe at nights too; they have multi-colored lights along the pirate night.
They have 2 bungalows by the lagoon; we stayed in one. It's literally in nature so there are bugs and the sounds of nature all night long. This is perfection if you love nature. If you are scared of lizards or army ants (they are all over Bacalar), dont stay in the bungalow. Internet isnt strong in the bungalow either, but if you want to unplug, its perfect. The bathroom and shower are basic. Beds were ok. Towel and toiletries service were good. There is a TV, but we didnt turn it on because we were too caught up in the beauty of outside.
Manager and staff are welcoming and helpful. We loved this place.

This property has a number of plusses, like its lakefront location and proximity to town, but it has a number of issues that must be attended to. We stayed in a lagoon front casita that was quite nice and private. However, it rains a lot, and every time we left or returned, our shoes were covered in mud. This could easily be alleviated by bringing in more gravel. The biggest problem we had was with the electrical system. I brought a small personal fan with me that burned out in the plug next to my bed. And the hotel had a small fire while we were there and they no fire extinguishers on site. They had to gather buckets of water from the pool to help put out fire. Also, the dock leading to the lake was rigged up with a series of plugs that hung down toward the water. Everyone knows that water and electricity don't mix! I hope the owners are willing to put some money into this place. Then I might consider returning, but not in its current condition.

Beautiful location right on the lagoon. The private pier let’s you have full access to the lagoon which was nice to have as all the public access areas were closed. The pier has a cute swing where I spent hours just swinging over the crystal clear waters. Can just literally step out of your room and go straight for a swim. Right in the centre to all the nice restaurants. Will definitely recommend it.

My room was somewhat small and the bed a bit firmer than I would prefer, but it was clean and secure and the AC worked splendidly. The hotel grounds are garden like with a pier extending out into the lagoon. All in all, a very tranquil setting.

I also enjoyed the breakfast consisting of a fruit plate, juice, coffee, frijoles and eggs prepared to order. It was much better than I was expecting. Definitely would stay here again.

We decided to pay a little extra to be on the lake side & I’m glad we did. We started the adventure with a bit of a problem when I booked the wrong dates. The hotel was very helpful. I had more difficulty dealing with Hotels.com but we eventually got it all sorted. The hotel was a little bit hard to find because the AAKUL part of the sign is faded. I’m not gonna lie, I had some low expectations based on a few of the Google reviews that I can now discount. The hotel does exist. Our room above the breakfast area was quite comfortable. The shower had good water pressure & hot water, the a/c worked very well, could have used a blanket 😬 The Internet wasn’t great, but come on, we didn’t come here to be on our devices! Breakfast was lovely. They provided ☕️ coffee & juice, fresh fruit & eggs & beans, it was plenty to get the day started. The location is very walkable, so we generally left the car parked there & walked into town. The property is quite lovely & natural. Yes you’re going to need bug spray, it’s the Mexican jungle on a body of water. You can’t really see the lake from the main part of the hotel, which makes walking down the path & onto the pier that much more spectacular! The pier is a great place to sun ☀️ & swim or look at the stars ✨ with a cocktail 🍸 I really cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff, they were very helpful & attentive & kind. I hope we can make our way back to Bacalar in the future, we would definitely stay here again.

Super great place. We had a nice time there on a last-minute booking. Room was spacious and everything in order. I loved the bathroom and the closet was huge. Nice balcony. Only complaint of sorts is that they're lacking a bit on the TP and enough towels.

El hotel esta en buenas condiciones, pero la habitación es muy pequeña, básicamente no hay lugar donde poner ropa, en nuestro caso eramos 4 personas y fue incomodo.
El acceso a la laguna no es el mejor, porque hay mucha hierba y muchas embarcaciones grandes alrededor.
En la habitación el aire acondicionado apunta directo a una de las camas, y entonces las personas de esa cama reciben el aire directo (molesto), mientras las demás se están asando con el calor.

Quel déception… de À à Z ! Le logement le plus cher de notre séjour, nous avons voulu nous faire plaisir, 170€ pour une nuit. Bungalow en préfabriqué, matériaux cheap, gazon synthétique dehors, chaise plastique, au petit dejeuner, assiettes en plastique, produits transformés industriels uniquement. bref grosse déception pour nous ici !

El desayuno es bueno pero básico, las instalaciones están bien y tiene acceso a la laguna, sin embargo todas las amedidades que tienen te las cobran por aparte cuando hay otros lugares que te las incluyen al hospedarte. En recepción te cobran un impuesto de acuerdo al los días que te quedes y no te dan ticket I factura sobre ese pago además de que a veces no es muy amable la persona que te recibe. En general bien pero hay mejores opciones en la zona.

La habitación es muy bonita , el baño es espacioso, el personal muy amable, el lugar es muy bonito, la zona de camastros esta increíble y desde ahí se tiene una gran vista sobre todo en los amaneceres. Todo está muy limpio y lo mantienen así, el desayuno muy bien como en las especificaciones, tal vez agregar otro sabor de jugo y jitomate o Lechuga para los sándwiches. También sugeriría poner una jerga o algo especial para el agua que se sale de la regadera. Todo excelente . Gracias por la bonita estancia, volveré pronto

El desayuno bien, la verdad faltaba la opción de desayunar huevos. Aunque sean huevos duros ayudarían a completar el desayuno.
Las habitaciones bonitas y bien arregladas, a pesar de ser construcción prefabricada, todo muy lindo y moderno.
