We spent 1 night.
Appreciated: Room design is modern, smart, practical. Good lighting. Dinner in the restaurant was surprisingly good, excellent plat du jour. Front desk personnel were helpful. Water and coffee were readily available.
Proximity to the train station—1 minute-can’t be beat. And easy to walk into town (one set of stairs.)

We paid extra for better room with Canal view. Very nice: plenty of natural light and fresh air. Comfortable bed. Large bathroom with separate toilet. Great spacious shower.

All in all excellent rapport quality/price. Would go again.

Small downside. Room could have been a bit cleaner. A used towel from previous occupants was left behind in the room. Towels seemed a bit worn.

The staff was very nice and bilingual - I speak a little French and they totally helped me understand what I needed to know for my stay. The tool was compact but had everything we need and a HUGE bathroom with a really fab rain shower. It was very connected to the train station so very convenient to go to Paris , but close to the Nantes city center, we could walk everywhere.

Great hotel close to so much! Nice quiet location but close to the central town. There was a snaffu at check-in, which is why I took off a star, but she was new staff and it was rectified and cleared up after I spoke to reception. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone.

They were rude from the beginning. We left the next day with a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door. When we returned, it was clear that someone had been in our room—they had moved most of my wife’s belongings and taken a room key. When I called the receptionist, she simply said, “Oh, that’s not supposed to happen,” and then abruptly ended the conversation and hung up.

This is the perfect hotel to stay at for Hellfest. Located right next to the train station, it made going back & forth to Clisson easy. We unfortunately don’t speak French and they have several staff members that speak very good English. The rooms are adorable and spacious for Europe, with a waterfall shower and mini fridge. It’s an easy walk to bars, coffee shops, restaurants, and shops, a 5 min walk to the castle and a 10 min Uber to THE GALERIE DES MACHINES, a must see.

Very pleased & excellent stay!

This hotel was perfectly located for us since it is steps from the train station. Likewise it is very close to downtown restaurants and shopping, the castle, Tour de Lu, etc. The spacious room was very quiet (sonorisé) so no need for ear plugs and had a lot of windows. No hallway noise. Stairs are easy to find (I always use the stairs instead of the elevator except on arrival and departure. The breakfast is very good although I had to always ask for \"HOT HOT\" water for my morning tea. The restaurant, for lunch or dinner, for example, is quite expensive so I recommend go to local restaurants. Bedding was clean-smelling, towels in good shape. The drain in the shower in my room needed to be unplugged so after my shower there was quite a bit of water on the floor. The desk went the length of the wall which was so convenient.

We arrived and no one was available at reception. We had to wait for someone to show up. Staff not fry. Hard to communicate. Staff speaks a few words in English. Bathroom was pretty dirty. Lots of mold in the shower. Restaurant didn’t have a good variety of food. Coffee does not have the best flavor. It was not fresh.

I stayed in the hotel for 6 days in August 2023. I was a bit worried about the noise from the trains since the hotel is located right next to the Gare de Nantes. Fortunately, the noise was not an issue in my room that was facing the canal. However, it may be different in rooms that face the railway station or the rail tracks. The hotel is a 10 minutes' walk to the old downtown. The surrounding area (the south station) is quite well kept. The breakfast was fine with good selections. If you can add breakfast at a low price (say, $10 per person per day), I would strongly recommend it. I ask the hotel to serve hot potatoes, which are not expensive but filling.

Great stay but price of breakfast for child crazy!

Made the mistake of not checking price of breakfast, as our arrival flight was delayed and very late in..... Buffet breakfast was lovely, however €17 euro per head (same price for a child).....nearly died of shock!!! Room needs a proper hoovering around perimeter. Nice size and bathroom immaculate. Would stay again.... But not have breakfast!!!

I know and like the Mercure brand. But this is the one Mercure hotel I will not be returning to. Expensive (twice the price of the Mercure I stayed in the previous night. Small room. Didn’t like the glass shower room. Check in terrrible. There was a conference that had taken over reception and I was turned away but found a man with a pc in the bag checking in non-conference guests.
Only good point was the magnifying shaving mirror in the bathroom.
Will not return but will continue to use other Mercure hotels.

The hotel is well located for the town centre and excellent for the station. The rooms are modern and clean but a little small, OK for an overnight stay but you wouldn't want to stay much longer.
The FREE parking is excellent and is a real bonus.
All in all we could not complain.

My stay was good. The room was pleasant snd comfortable but the bathroom isn't sufficiently private with only a large glass screen and a clear but murky curtain between the bed and bathroom which means you can see a very clear outline of anyone showering. This lack of privacy would put me off a bit. The staff were very nice but the reception desk was empty a few times when I was looking for someone. They were very helpful when there. Would have liked conditioner for hair also and a bath hat. Overall the stay was very good and I was very happy. The place was clean and nicely decorated with a funky style. Breakfast was excellent.

We liked the location and the facilities on the ground floor. Staff on reception were very helpful in resolving any problems / issues.
Room was smaller than other Mercure hotels we have stayed in. Needing an \"open\" window instead of aircondition we found it a little noisy - aircraft or trains depending on wind direction - also the late night revellers on the canal restaurants opposite the hotel.

Mis-advertising notice - Main amenities lists Airport Shuttle but this really means the regular airport shuttle, that costs 9 Euros each way, drops off/picks up 50m from the hotel!
Clean, modern hotel that wins big on location - very short walk to anywhere downtown (and the train station, of course). Spacious bed/shower room as well.

Dripping shower woke me at 2am, had to tie a towel around the shower head. Tiny room, could not swing a cat, lumpy pillows, crusty sheets and tiny dry towels. In need of some TLC or just know the thing down and start again. Poor. Very poor.

Could be a nice hotel close to railway station but so much work being done at the station would not recommend at the moment.
Room fine, with window shut you hear nothing so good. Shower lovely but poor design on door means floods the floor. Air conditioning hopeless ( reported ). Good in communal areas but awful in bedroom which made for bad nights sleep.

We had picked the location as we knew our arrival would be late evening. As our train was very late (1.30 in the morning), our stay was quite short. We were however made very welcome when we did arrive. It was only a short walk from the south side of the station. Nice view of the river when we woke the next day.It was also very close to the car rental depot (3 min. walk) for collecting our hire car the next morning.

Not the Mercure I'm use to

My 1st stay in 4 days was the 18th April 2018.
I had a superior room this night, very clean, mini bar included (water, sodas, juice).
Separate toilet to bathroom (bonus!) bathroom had xlnt lighting unlike the rest of the room that had poor lighting even with all the lights on and one lamp globe not working.
Again air-conditioning not working (reading other reviews a problem for a number of years) staff look bemused when you tell them but unlike our other room 24 nights later I was able to open the window and let the room cool down.
definitely not the same Mercure standards as we have in Australia.

This was my second night at Mercure Gare in 4 days, book a standard room, way below standard to the Mercure Hotel i'm use to in Australia.
Both nights I was here no airconditioning and the look on staff members faces when you mention it doesn't work is precious, not very convincing.
This room I was in on the 23rd April 2018, I couldn't open the window to cool the room down as it was held in place with gaffer tape (heavy duty tape) I have photo which I have shown and sent to hotel, again the bemused look on staff members face when I showed the photo was precious.
The two rooms I stayed in at this hotel are extremely dark not enough lighting, only a bat would be happy with this level of lighting.
No mini bar room would have to be the smallest I have ever stayed at, the only thing that made it bearable is the cleanest and the bathroom.
Will not be using Mercure in France in future if this one is anything to go by.

NICE HOTEL IF YOU HAVE NO LUGGAGE!

Good modern chain hotel located next door to the Nantes railway station with its own entrance within the station. The rooms are very nice with a comfortable bed with good standard of finishings, fittings and a nice bathroom with shower only, The double bed bed area is a tight but reasonable space space, but they have one major design flaw, you have nowhere to put your suitcases or their contents, there is no storage space! Even more ridiculous is that the they have clearly used a standard size bathroom plan as the bathroom has space for a bath, but only a shower has been installed so they waste an area bigger than the shower itself by providing this as an access platform into the shower. I suppose their answer would be you use this shower entrance as a suitcase store! I was alone in the room for two nights so only had one suitcase, but if two people were staying in the room each with a suitcase you would have to block access in the hall, the shower or access to the bed!
The breakfast was very, good plenty of choice and reguarly reprovisioned throughout the breakfast service period.
The staff were very nice and helpful and know about the room storage problem and they could only suggest upgrading to a larger room next time.
There are no restaurants or shops around the hotel so you have to walk into Central Nantes, but this is less than 10 minutes walk.
All in all a nice hotel let down by a poor room design.

Nice hotel for a business trip.

The hotel is well located next to the train station and only a few minutes walk from the old town. It mainly caters for business travellers and has a large space for working. The bar is strange as it's rarely staffed and you have to go round to the restaurant to pay. The staff are very helpful and friendly.

Well placed for walking to all the old town sights and fronting onto a nice waterside view. Do not be put off by proximity to the railway, it is not an issue. The room we had was compact but very well designed with a lovely little, very modern bathroom, lots of glass, brightly lit, with all amenities. Left a good impression on us

Except - internet stopped working in the room and the whole building seemed to lack of hot water the second day of my two-day stay (and no hurry to fix it). We traveled to Nantes by train. Hotel was right next to the train station so that very easy to access with big & heavy suit case! Commercial centre is very close too, walking distance. Room was very clean and comfortable. I stayed with my friend in twin, we relax in the room after day of shopping. Highly recommended.

The hotel is located next to the main TGV station for Nantes, with all the convenience that brings but none of the disadvantages; the room was very quiet despite looking out over the station platforms. The hotel is located within easy reach of city centre, chateau, cathedral, and other sites of interest (do not miss the former biscuit factory nearby). The plate glass wall to the bathroom (separate enclosed toilet) took some getting used to! Iron and ironing board were of much higher quality than found in most hotels. Staff were very friendly and helpful at all times, and there was a good selection for breakfast.
