Great place to adventure into the city of Nantes

Although it is an old building in the center of Nantes, the place have been reconditioned to match the theme of the city: Jules Verne, and it creates a cute atmosphere for the guests. The staff is super nice and helpful, always trying to make your trip special. Location wise, it cannot get any better than this... very clore to restaurants, and the cutest city center.

Pleasant, but lacks small details

The hotel is well situated for central Nantes, a short distance from Tram line 1 which runs to the train station. There are lots of good bars and restaurants in the surrounding Graslin quarter. However, this does mean the streets are noisy at night! Before arriving, we were offered the chance to 'upgrade' our room to an air-conditioned one, for an extra 10€ per night. As we live in France and are used to the climate, not using our a/c at home unless the temp is 35°+, we declined on environmental grounds. Unfortunately this meant that our 2nd floor room suffered from street noise if we opened the window or became very airless if we didn't. We had very little sleep during our 4 night stay. The hotel also lacked attention to small details - no muesli at breakfast after Day 1, no replenishment of welcome tray, tissues or spare toilet roll. However, chilled water was freely available. Staff were pleasant but overall we would choose another hotel next time we are in Nantes.

Boutique-feel hotel for a decent price

The hotel is themed after Jules Verne and so it feels very quirky and colourful, and really feels more like a boutique hotel without the price.

Room was really nice, bed was incredibly comfy (more so than at home), staff were really friendly and helpful.

Hotel is centrally located and anything else can be reached by the tram stop a few minutes walk away.

Good hotel but there is a lot to improve.

It is good located hotel that is comfortable enough but there are lot to improve. First of all WI-FI was awful. One day it didn't work at all. Two other days it worked but was very bad and it was impossible to use it. The receptionist said that WI-FI was broken and she couldn't help to us. So we were forced to use cellular internet that was expensive with our roaming option. Second thing that was no good is cleanliness of room. There was M&M's under the bed left by previous tenants and not cleared by hotel staff. Also one day the room was not tidied up properly. The bed was not made. There were only two tea cups in family room though we booked it for 3 persons. The breakfast was good except eggs. They were not eatable.
Good thinks to mention: Comfortable bed, very good lighting in the room and HDMI cable connected to TV (I didn't see such useful thing in any other hotels) so you can easily connect your media player to TV . Also there was USB charging sockets that is also very convenient. So it may be a very good hotel with not so lot and complicated improvements.

Great value for money city centre hotel

The hotel is very central and walking distance to everything. Staff speak English and are very helpful. The hotel is being refurbished and we had one of the new rooms - very clean, air conditioned with multi lingual TV channels, and comfortable beds. The road system and trams are a bit confusing so parking needs to be planned ahead as the hotel is in pretty inaccessible area for cars. There is a car park about 5 minutes down the road. However as a city centre break this is a great hotel, friendly and value for money.

We had a really nice stay (30th Dec 18). Reception and check-in was quick with the young lady being very helpful with local information.
Room whilst not large was well appointed and clean. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was spotless with large walk-in shower.
Tea/Coffee facilities on hand in room and wall mounted TV with good choice of channels including sports.
Really good location - will definitely stay there when next in Nantes.

It is no where near the standard that I associate with Best Western. The hotel is being refurbished but I cannot see how it will meet the usual BW standard. Very noisy as it was very close to a noisy bar (until 2 am) and it was necessary to keep window open as there was no air conditioning. A fan was provided. Every BW hotel I have been in previously has had a fridge. There would not be room to put one into the room we stayed in. The room was small. Not impressed and would not recommend. The only good points we’re the friendliness of the staff and location adjacent to the walking trail and a reasonable car park.

I was shocked how much I liked this hotel. It had no AC and it was 90 degrees outside. They gave us an extra fan. Our room had a balcony and two tall windows facing onto street. There were signs in elevator about how they are planning to install AC.

For the price we paid, this was a great deal.

I went for my birthday on Bastille Day and by a stroke of luck also France in the World Cup final. location of hotel was perfect and the staff were very helpfull. Breakfast better delivered free to the room rather than at La Cigale.
No Air Con in the room but a fan was provided. Hotel is being modernised. Great 4 day trip, i would stay again.

Good service, ok hotel

Stayed two nights in August. In hindsight, not checking whether the room had air condition before booking was a mistake. There was a fan, but the room was unbearably hot. Nicely renovated bathroom, the rest of the room is quite, ah, brown. No more space than needed for two people and their open suitcases.

Very friendly and helpful staff at front desk. They happily gave advice, and let us store our luggage after check-out.

Wifi was ok. But you need to log in again every time you've been away/disconnected for a few hours, and you can't use the same email address on two devices simultaneously. In other words, if you want to connect a laptop and a smartphone at the same time, you need two different email addresses.

The breakfast room was being renovated when we visited, so we were given instead vouchers for the nearby café La Cigale. We only used this the first morning – first the café staff complained that the hotel had told them the day before that only ten guests would come for breakfast, and far too many had come, therefore they were out of croissants and pain au chocolat. In the end we were seated, and the server grabbed what was apparently the last leftover croissant and pain au chocolat off a table where others had sat for breakfast. The bread seemed like it had sat sliced for a good long time before it got to us. At least the hot chocolate and orange juice were lovely, and the coffee ok. The next day we opted to find our own breakfast place, a much better choice.

Positive: hotel is very close to city center, restaurants, shopping, attractions.
Negative: Got a room on top 5th floor and tiny elevator only goes to 4th floor. Room was small. Old, old shag rug and furniture from 1970's (new bathroom though). Noise from the street. No hotel parking, not even 1 stall for check-in. There is no A/C.
Our room was way different than the pictures show.

Hotel is very conveniently located, close to the city centre and tourist attractions, including the Machine Isles which is within walking distance. Staff is very helpful. Room is of reasonable size. The only complaint is that the air-conditioning was not on, staff mentioned that this was due to city regulations, which was unfortunate, since once we opened the window the noise from the bars underneath went into the middle of the night.

Hotel being upgraded but we were not inconvenienced, room was quite small and basically brown! Otherwise the hotel was very good. Breakfast was well worth the cost and the location was very near the centre of town.
We enjoyed time in Nantes and made two trips out, using the Nantes Tourism Card was very useful and saved money over the three days we had it.

We parked in the nearby secure car park (Médiathèque), the spaces were very small and it was hard to navigate around the tight corners but it's fine for small cars. It cost approximately €10 from 6pm - 11am which seemed reasonable.

The hotel itself was great, the room was very small but big enough for two people. The bathroom was also small but the shower was fantastic and the hairdryer was fairly powerful.

The hotel was in a good area with a number of restaurants near by.

Perfect for the sites of Nantes

Lovely helpful staff especially breakfast lady. Great for getting into the centre of town and to the ile to see the elephant. Very quiet wjen windows shut but hot as no air con yet. BUT ask not to be in the room next to the lift as it woke us up. ALSO the hotel does not have its own parking which some hotel search sites would have you believe. Use the mediateche car park nearby.

Pleasant hotel in nice part of town

We (two sixty-year olds and a seventeen-year old) stayed here for 2 nights on holiday, and found it a pleasant and convenient base for exploring Nantes - well-situated in an attractive part of town, in easy reach of the obvious sites and cafes and restaurants. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable and had good space for the three of us (one double and one single). We didn't have breakfast, so can't comment on that - but generally a good hotel at a reasonable price for what we were wanting. Would be happy to stay there again.

Wrong choice

They charged me 20€ more because we had a 6 months old baby, with the false pretence it's not possible to have 3 people in the standard room, even though the baby sleeps in our bed. As a result I paid more for a bed that I did not use at all. And rooms are far from great. Also, the lift is way too small. We could fit the pushair and that's it. I had to go through the stairs with the bags or wait ages for the lift to come back down
Not offering parking is also a big negative. they advertise 3 € a night, but prices before 7pm and after 8am makes the parking bill just go up and up. I ended up paying over 11 € for the parking for a 12 ours stay in Nantes. At the end of the day, the extra 31€ I paid (20€ + 11€) I should have booked somewhere else with a better standard. Not happy at all. Only good for single visitors, with no car, whose plans are just to hang out in the city centre

Primero me gustaría agradecer la simpatía y paciencia (con mi francés) de todos los recepcionistas. Todos ellos de lo más amables. También las chicas del desayuno con sus atenciones.
No interactué con el servicio de limpieza pero todo estaba limpio.
El hotel está muy bien situado, con lo que te puedes mover a pie si te gusta andar. Sinó, hay distintos trams que pasan muy cerca.
Habitación luminosa y totalmente equipada. Puedes abastecerte de agua o te en el descansillo al lado de recepción donde también dejan las sobras del desayuno - buen pica pica como merienda si pasas por el hotel por la tarde.
El comedor es pequeño, es mejor reservar para horas menos ajetreadas si tu agenda lo permite.
Señal de wifi buena.

En revanche,
La décoration sur Jules verne est une catastrophe..
Pour le prix de la chambre c’est honteux… mur abîmés avec des motifs enfantins. tasses tachées, bouilloire entartrée , fenêtre non nettoyée avec du noir de pollution partout !
Le pire : une odeur de fosse septique dans la chambre, impossible de se laver porte fermée avec l’odeur.. nausées toute la nuit car je ne pouvait pas dormir fenêtre ouverte vu le froid …

Nous avons été « surclassé » mais déçu comme signalé à la réception … pas de réelle compensation malgré un signalement

En effet la chambre sentait horriblement les égouts, probablement un problème lié à la bonde de douche.
La propreté laisse à désirer : Cuvette des WC présentant des traces suspectes côté extérieur
De même, les portes sont bricolées et ne ferment pas bien…

View and Breakfast not meeting description

Expecting and requesting room with balcony and view, and got room with roof window and roof view. Advertised breakfast did NOT include any vegetables like tomatoes, cucumber or salads. Quite often 3/7 breakfast the scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages were run out.

Excellent rapport qualité prix

Excellent rapport qualité prix, super emplacement, literie très confortable, personnel très agréable sont les points forts de cet hôtel qui cependant mériterait d’être redécoré car tout date un peu. Mais comme les prix sont assez raisonnables cela reste un bon choix d’hôtel pour le centre de Nantes.
