Excellent hotel in great location

I stayed in the Oceania with my husband. We had a deluxe double room which was very spacious and comfortable, with coffee machine, robes, slippers, plenty of wardrobe/cupboard space.
Breakfast was varied and very nice indeed, something for everyone, you could have cereals, fruits, pastries, cooked breastfast, cold meats, cheeses and best of all, smoked salmon.
The staff were were wonderful, and extremely helpful. We dealt with a lady called Manon or similar, she was so nice and helpful.
The location of this hotel is perfect, and probably in the prettiest part of Nantes, right on Graslin.
We ate in Chez Franklin as recommended by the hotel staff, and had snails for the first time, very nice restaurant & very popular.
I'd highly recommend this hotel.

Location: couldn’t be more central. Perfect for discovering Nantes,( Passage Pommeraie) for shopping on Rue Crebillon, enjoying the views at place Graslin at the terrasse of a café.

Hotel Room: clean , quiet, comfortable and spacious.

Hotel staff: extremely customer friendly, and attentive to making our stay perfect.

Hidden Gem. Lovely stay. Reception staff lovely and very helpful. Husband loved the breakfast. Room had a view onto the square with a Juliet balcony. Comfy bed. Great location. One very small criticism would be our tea/coffee were not replenished but the night porter sorted it out for us. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend.

Pro and Cons

The hotel is right smack in the middle of the shopping district in Nantes which is very convenient. It has a rich history which I like. Since mine is a business trip, the lack of a proper work space is a hindrance but it does help me to rest more since I am from South East Asia.

The room is spacious and clean. The coffee machine has 6 coffee pods and 2 tea bags which is a god send but these is no electric pot to boil water.

The thing I most dislike is 2 flat square pillows. These did not offer any kind of support that my neck needs.
The 2nd is the breakfast buffet which is not fantatstic for 20 euros.
Otherwise, it is really a cool hotel.

Perfect location and staff

This is a beautiful hotel in a perfect location. Right in the centre but bedrooms were quiet. Staff were so friendly and helpful, especially Simon on reception. We had a lovely stay here and I would highly recommend it.

They each helped us with dining, transportation and Simon actually walked us to the Commerce to ensure we got on the right tram for the Olympic event we were going to. Perfect location and super friendly staff

Really helpful staff at the hotel and very willing to speak perfect English where in fact my son and I were hoping to improve our French. They quickly realised and were patient and spoke more slowly and clearly to help us.

The room was spotless, air conditioned and comfortable. We were always greeted with a smile and the locaction, next to the opera house was perfect in every way. Not noisy like the centre but just a stroll away and yet surrounded by great shopping and restaurants.

We loved Nantes and the Hotel helped to make our stay extra special.

There were no bar staff and the bar was manned by the receptionist who had to do 2 jobs. Often there was no one at reception. Also, we were not told we needed a code to get into the inner city.so we had to walk in and ask the staff. Hotel is well situated, beautiful property and very clean.

Like most big cities in France this downtown hotel is in a traffic restricted zone. Hotel and the booking applications won't tell you that. Good luck accessing the hotel by car. Call the hotel first if you can. It's a OK place but rooms are pretty small and taking Covid as an excuse they offer a very cheap breakfast unworthy of a 3-star hotel.

A Gem in Nantes!

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights for a little get away. We absolutely loved it. I am from America and my husband from the UK and neither of us had ever been to Nantes. We actually had never even heard of Nantes and I booked the trip on a whim. So glad we did! The staff at the hotel were so accommodating, friendly and thankfully spoke English (my husband and i are English speaking heathens!). The location could not have been better. Located right in Place Graslin next to the cannot miss La Cigale restaurant. This is essentially a pedestrian only area of town but if you take a taxi or uber they are allowed to drive through to drop you. So perfectly walkable and also just a few steps away from excellent shopping at Passage Pommeray. The room was super clean, comfortable, and save for a few late night party people on the street in a Friday night, it was quiet and peaceful. When we come to Nantes again this will be the place we stay!

Doesn't stand up to 4-star hotel standards

Pros:
1. Location - right on the corner of the Opera House on Place Graslin, right on the yellow/green line.
2. Great design.

Cons:
1. If you are not a soft pillow person you are in trouble as these are the only ones they have. Worst sleep I had in a long while.
2. Asked for a baby crib when reserving. When arrived at around midnight there was no baby crib in the room and the reception said there is no available one for tonight?! to make the long story short, he found a crib but it was broken and unsafe and he asked if it's ok for tonight?! then found another one. There's much more to it but I have limited space. Ended the saga after 1 a.m.
3. No fridge and minibar
4. No coffee machine - although it appears in all the photos.
5. Limited amenities - 2 bags of tea, paper cups, 1 super small conditioner, and soap
6. Breakfast - for 16 Euro per person the variety was very limited, in our opinion, it wasn't worth the money.

Overall, in my opinion, it doesn't stand up to 4-star hotel standards.

Conclusion: I wouldn't stay there again.

We selected the Oceania mainly because their internet site said they have parking available. When we arrived in Nantes we followed our GPS to the hotel, only to find it's in a pedestrian only zone. After trying for 30 minutes to find a access to their advertised hotel parking, we pulled over and called. They said their carpark was full and gave us directions to a nearby parking garage. Having no other options, we parked in the garage and walked to the hotel. We asked the hotel to pay for the overnight parking. They said, \"no\".

The room was nice, albiet small, the internet strong and the location wonderful.

Use this hotel for a great location, but only if you are not driving

A very good hotel right in the centre of Nantes. The only difficulty was negotiating the pedestrian area on a Saturday evening for the taxi driver and we didn't see as many people the rest of our three day stay. The room was large and very well equipped. The bathroom was also large and the towels were beautiful.

A very modern style hotel that has been cleverly built into an old, distinguished building near the centre of Nantes with easy access to areas of interest, entertainment, shops, bars, restaurants.
The downside is the treatment of existing, loyal customers by Hotels.com - make sure you follow their procedures absolutely precisely. It is more important to Hotels.com than their customers and service.

Great hotel fantastic service and help from everyone there. Unfortunately couldn't sample breakfast(our choice as we were in a hurry) as had to be very early at airport. Shall definitely come back there

Excellent city hotel in very good location.

Spent x 3 days as part of tour of north west France. Very busy city and parking can be problematic.Staff were very helpful and directed us to underground parking.We left the car there for 2 days which cost us 26 euros.Modern efficient hotel.

Warm, welcoming, centrally located hotel in Nantes

A very centrally located hotel with wonderful, friendly staff. A most enjoyable three day stay. Large, comfortable bedroom, multi channel tv, no bath but ample shower unit which was more than adequate. Tea/coffee making facilities, which are always welcome. One slight quibble - the cups were small, disposable cardboard cups: the hotel might want to consider replacing them with better quality cups/mugs for those, like me, who go through a lot of tea... But this is only a small issue. One of the nicest stays on a long time. Thanks to all the staff for a job well done!

A good well-run hotel

A good location near Place Graslin so handy for shops and restaurants and the number 11 bus route. All staff were very friendly and efficient - reception, house-keeping, bar staff. Room was large with a comfortable bed. Nicely appointed bathroom. I didn't have breakfast so could not comment on that.

Won’t go again.

The hotel looks nice and the room is a good sized. Front of house Staff were excellent. However there was an issue with flies in my room and I didn’t find that sanitary. Unfortunately due to a late working night I only noticed in the morning. I was also disappointed that all the coffee in the room was decafe and the breakfast bar had an issue with a malfunctioning egg cooker. As such I paid for a breakfast that consisted of toast and coffee as I don’t eat pork meats that were on offer.

Fantastic hotel in superb location.

We enjoyed our stay at Oceania Hotel de France in Nantes very much - it was perfect in every respect. Superb location, brilliant staff, great breakfast. Our room was perfect - spacious, beautifully decorated, clean, wonderful view of Place Graslin. Close to shops and restaurants.

Someone should have told us how to reach the hotel

Nice hotel, but very difficult to reach in a car. The location in the City Centre is in a restricted area that can only be entered with a special code.

Honestly, I would be rating this hotel more highly if I hadn't been overcharged for my room tax by the female employee at check-out. I was supposed to be charged 4.40 euros for 4 people for a 1-night stay, however I got charged between 8-9 euros. Disappointing. I was in a hurry to leave for the train station and was suffering from morning #1 jet lag so I didn't want to argue. The room was comfortable and had a view of Place Graslin. Probably slept the best at the hotel out of this trip. Another thing to note: The door to the bathroom is made of frosted glass for those who prefer substance over style.

A centrally located hotel that is ideally located for exploring the city. Our room was comfortable and well presented but perhaps the hotel's greatest asset was its staff. All staff members whom we met throughout our stay were welcoming, friendly and helpful and were very patient as we practised our French. For us, that real commitment to customer service is always a winning feature.

Great staff. Clean hotel. Next to the Opera House. The hotel is located in the pedestrian area of the town, so you need to call ahead for a CODE to get into the area. The GPS takes you right to the hotel.

This is a lovely hotel, recently refurbished, in a very central location. Staff were very friendly, breakfast was good, and our room was unusually quiet. Highly recommended.
