Nice property, rooms were clean. A lot of cats in the area and even in the outside dining area under your feet. We noticed that if you didn’t speak Spanish there was a delay in service. If you are fluent in Spanish you definitely will enjoy yourself.

If you enjoy swimming with stray dogs and having cats wander around your table while you eat, then this might be the place for you.

From the moment we arrived, the customer service was disappointing. The front desk staff were rude, unhelpful, and provided very little information beyond telling us that restaurant reservations were required.

One of the perks advertised with our room was a “breakfast on the beach,” but it turned out to be a sales pitch for a timeshare presentation. What was presented as a special amenity felt more like a marketing tactic than a guest benefit.

The food was another major letdown. The restaurant meals were mediocre at best, and room service was equally disappointing.

The biggest issue, however, was the customer service. Throughout our stay, staff members were unfriendly and seemed uninterested in providing a positive guest experience.

Unfortunately, this was not the relaxing vacation we expected. Between the poor service, disappointing food, and the presence of stray animals throughout the property, I would not recommend staying here. Book at your own risk.

The staff was very rude and even had an instance where staff would brush you off and never help you. Asked for multiple entrees and repeatedly got told no. I paid for all inclusive and this was definitely not it. They did not care about your stay or helping you at all. I would not recommend this resort to anyone in the DR. Heard multiple other travelers say their resort was amazing and the staff was wonderful. This was the COMPLETE OPPOSITE. Would not stay here again.

Pros- The food and drinks were great at all restaurants. Staff were helpful, very peaceful (on the adult side) and the excursions were fun.

Cons- way too many wild dogs and cats running around at restaurants while you’re trying to eat and by the pool and the beach. We knew there were a couple from previous reviews/videos but it became out of hand and a bit of a distraction in a bad way (coming from someone who likes animals). Don’t be in a rush when present room service- their eta time was completely pointless as they would give an hour eta on food arrival and wouldn’t arrive until an hour and half to an hour and 45 minutes from the time you order. Also we found a roach in our bathroom (alive) and a dead one outside our door. I’d visit the DR again and maybe another one of their partner resorts but not this particular one.

My wife and I have been visiting this resort since 2009. Especially, for our anniversary. Unfortunately, our last two visit have been a disappointment, especially on how worn down the rooms are. The room conditions are bad. Light switches not working properly, the shower head not enough pressure at all or just bad maintain, the mini fridge does not work at all, the walls have holes, worn out paint, and the peep hole on the main entrance door was missing. Absolutely!!! Disappointment. But, as always the staff is top notch, and the food ok.. I think is time me and wife visit another place

My fiancé and I recently stayed at Catalonia Royal Bavaro Adults Only. While we enjoyed many aspects of our stay, there are areas that need improvement, including room assignments, room updates, food quality at some restaurants, and the large number of cats throughout the property, which may be an issue for guests with allergies.

Upon arrival at 11:30 a.m., our room was not ready, and the first room assigned had a view of a construction site. Thankfully, Minerva and Myra at the Front Desk listened to our concerns and quickly moved us to a much better room. Their professionalism and customer service were greatly appreciated.

A special thank you to Rosalinda for keeping our room spotless every day. Daisy and Roschelyn at Thalassa and Beloved were always friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Ashly and Carlos at the pool provided excellent service and kept the atmosphere enjoyable. We would also like to recognize the Spa team for their outstanding service.

Despite a few areas needing improvement, the exceptional staff made our vacation memorable. Thank you to everyone who helped make our stay enjoyable.

First day when you walk in there is people in the lobby showing interest to help you but the only thing they want from you is to sell you a membership for “Exclusive Travelers Rewards”. The presentation takes 4 to 5 hours and the membership cost 100k for Infinity, 50k for Platinum and 20k for gold. A complete waste of time.

Terrible experiencia la verdad la habitación en la que me instalaron la ducha no funcionaba se rompió un tubo de la regadera, mucho olor a humedad, el aire no funcionaba hacía demasiada calor. La comida no es tan buena, las piscinas tienen limo (hongo) en los bordes y para completar me robaron artículos de mi habitación con lo cual no me resolvieron nada. Ni siquiera unas disculpas solo me estuvieron diciendo que estarían realizando una investigación y concluyeron diciéndome que no tenían respuesta sobre donde estaban mis artículos. Realmente no recomiendo el hotel tengan cuenta con sus artículos si se van a quedar ya que me robaron y nunca me resolvieron nada ni disculpas ni ningún tipo de compensación.

Catalonia Royal Bavaro was alright. I love the duplex suites. Those are great with the private pool. Unfortunately the last 3 nights of my stay the AC stopped working upstairs in the bedroom. I slept on a pull out couch on the main floor as the AC on that floor was working good. The food isn't the greatest. I would give the food 5/10. Not much of a selection. Everytime I went up for my 2nd plate. I would come back and my drink would be gone. My fork and knife would be gone. I would have to wait for a staff member to come over and apologize and give me another cup and utensils. The 1st night I jumped in a golf kart. The bellboy took me to the buffet. Or so I thought. He said the one place was a buffet. I get there and it wasn't a buffet. Only mornings. So I had to walk to the other location hotel to have me dinner buffet. I mostly spent most of my time to myself in my private pool and relaxed. The room service food was better than the buffet. Every night a lady would knock on my door in the evening asking if I needed any soft drinks or beer. That's where the good service would come in. It was very convenient. They also had 3 alcohol bottles left for me since day 1 in my livingroom space. I made sure to finish the Ron bottle. The beach is also bad. Too much seaweed. It didn't look like Punta Cana waters. The water was green. I only went to the beach once during my stay. If your a pool person and like to be private. Get the Duplex suite. If you prefer beach. Pick somewhere else

Beautifully designed resort and beach front however extremely difficult to get food during our 4 night stay. Reservations needed to be made via the online website (you receive access to after check in), however it seems you can only have one reservation a day as the website prevented me from booking anything else, even after our reservation was completed. Room service failed to show three times, and when they did after repeatedly calling the front desk, the hotel staff only knocked ONCE and my partner had to flag him down as he was already walking away with our food. VERY WEIRD RIGHT? There is a breakfast buffet and one non-reservation lunch spot on site which made up for this when we were hungry but either all for an all inclusive resort it shouldn’t be this difficult. Stray cats and dogs roam the property and within the outdoor restaurant. Other than that, beautiful resort beach front but won’t be returning. Food is BOMB as well. You’re better off getting your moneys worth in Mexico.

The grounds are beautiful-both family and adult only side. The restaurants are great except the cats and dogs roaming freely throughout the restaurants (outside seating). We did not like the animals were around while we were attempting to enjoy dinner. The food was good, but the animals detracted from our experience.

The room, at first was spectacular a bit dated, but still nice. By the fourth day, the old furniture began to smell like mildew and moldy. We also saw and killed several roaches.

Yulissa was awesome.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but not sure we’d return.

Other than that, the rest of the food was amazing. Massages were ok. I’m not a golfer but the golf course looked pristine. I would definitely recommend this resort to a friend.

Our stay at Catalonia Royal Bávaro was overall amazing 🌴 The resort is beautiful, clean, relaxing, and the staff service was great.

The only downside was the constant pressure from sellers and staff trying to push paid products, beach dinners, and breakfasts. Unfortunately, “no” often didn’t feel respected, and some seemed annoyed when we declined. It took away from the peaceful vacation atmosphere, which is sad because everything else was genuinely excellent.

The staff were incredibly rude. From the moment I walked in they were rude. They tried to charge me for the room even though I had already paid. The room was never below 76 degrees, the refrigerator did not work. The food is disgusting. The alcohol is definitely below the bottom shelf. They pressure you into learning about their exclusive club and promise you that it’s only an hour and you will get a free massage. Well it was two hours and no massage was given. You have to make dinner reservations for every night you cannot eat your leisure. This was the most miserable vacation I have ever taken. I would not recommend to anyone. I will never be back.

Staying at the Adults Only section was nice and quiet. Actual pools had little chlorine, which showed with the film on the water at all times. Plus, there were some guests walking in with obvious cellulitis/wounds and wading in the pools. There were people coming with their babies to the adults side who didn’t care. Security took way too long to respond.

We personally didn’t stay at duplex but our friends did and it was great. You can tell the rooms are in dire need of maintenance as the toilet broke everyday: it was together with zip ties. AC worked great and the private pool was fantastic. Our other friends got the regular privileged room, which smelt like mold and had obvious signs of water damage in the walls and ceiling. Our romance room was AMAZING. Seemed updated and clean. Our housekeeper was great.

Food was mediocre: breakfast was best meal to get. Staff kept saying it wasn’t possible to bring food back to the room. “Room Service” was a joke. Food ordered this route took almost 2 hours each time and the food was borderline cold as if it was just sitting there. You can tell they were understaffed. Bartenders were also left out to dry as there wasn’t enough to keep up with the amount of people staying. Bottom shelf liquor without any ability to upgrade. Wife had a wire brush in her fish tacos but pasta was good.

Overall, it was okay. If we didn’t have the duplex available and were with friends, would have been a terrible time. Good memories but won’t be going back.

Overall, we had a great experience at this hotel. The vibe is amazing for couples, with plenty of fun activities and enjoyable plans from day to night. The welcome experience was excellent, and our last night there was truly memorable.
The staff were amazing throughout our stay very friendly, welcoming, and always helpful, which made the experience even better.
There are only a couple of areas that could be improved. The food variety in the buffet did not really match the standards expected from a 5-star hotel. Also, the Superior Junior Suites definitely need some upgrades in every aspects , especially the ventilation system, which was not proper and made the room feel more like a 4-star experience.
Another issue was with housekeeping. For some things, like changing the bed sheets, we had to ask the cleaners directly, and it was not done automatically during our stay.

That being said, overall we had an amazing stay and it is definitely worth revisiting. I would absolutely consider coming back again just probably not booking the Superior Junior Suites next time!

This hotel was amazing, the staff were very friendly and informative. Rosa & Randy did an amazing job and made my stay welcoming & fun. The food was amazing and drinks were made very well. The Asian restaurant Tao Cat was my favorite it was very good. Don’t forget to reserve dinner as soon as you get there for all of your nights. There were multiple pools and it was super clean. We also had access to other side of the hotel and the nightclub dj played a variety of music. Overall an amazing stay and I will definitely return.

We had issues with both toilets not flushing, one was fixed the other worked intermeddling. The first day we had no cold water in the shower and the hot was way to hot for us to shower. They turned on the cold water in the shower, however the mixing valve wasn't working well so the water was burning hot or ice cold. The town house was nice expect for the water issues.

The small adults only resort was exactly what we wanted. Not overcrowded, you could always find room at one of the 2 pools or the beach. We loved the 'Privileged' beach area with comfy beds. The staff was vigilant keeping the seaweed cleaned up. They were also very pleasant and helpful when asked. Having access to the family side shops & eateries & bars was a big plus. We enjoyed all the food from breakfast buffet to room service! Oh and the resort is completely walkable!

This is a beautiful place. The food was delicious. The staff were helpful and courteous. Love this place greatly. Be sure to ask for a print out of activities and information in regards to booking the dinner reservations that are needed. We didn’t get to try any of the places we wanted due to staying completely booked. And there is a lot of additional cost. Inclusive isn’t really all inclusive. But a great stay.

We are frequent guests there. The property is well kept as well as the grounds. The staff are pleasant. Guest services (Mayra) was extremely helpful as we stayed 2 weeks as usual and 1of us is now handicapped. The bellman with the carts were so helpful taking us around and we thank them so much.
The food was good and good variety .
The pool was sparkling and clean at all times and enjoyed as well as the beach.. We highly recommend it 👌!!

Front desk staff was super rude which is why I had to rate the staff low. There were some staff members and managers that were apologetic and pleasant. We rented the deluxe with an infinity pool. Our infinity pool was low daily and seemed to be the only one, our power went out for around 3-4 hours one evening, causes us to miss dinner, but they eventually got it fixed. It did cause the room to get very hot and we had a hard time keeping the room nightly, just because it is so hot there during the day. We did not get to try Steakville, but both my husband and I could hardly find anything to eat at the other restaurants.
Best part was probably buffet breakfast, so we’d try to load up. The food was not good overall and we couldn’t wait to get back to our own cuisine. We did do couples massages on the beach (twice) and they were nothing short of amazing, both times. The room was cleaned each day and turn down service was also provided. The beach that we had access to was beautiful and the water was something straight out of a movie. We were able to walk out on a sandbar as far as you could go. We also traveled to a few of the top golf courses and had an amazing time, with the world’s best ocean hole views. Overall, unfortunately we couldn’t recommend staying here in the future and we will use another property entirely next time.

The resort is amazing- from the beautiful grounds to the super friendly and accommodating staff! Swim up pool bar(Carols, Ashley and Lionel) is always energetic, Dominga , Ana, Marta at Thalassa as well as Jose making eggs- are always so kind and generous!
The food is good and it’s a wonderful relaxing resort to unplug and unwind. 10/10- been here over 12 times and we will be back soon!

Cats and dogs roam the property and are so friendly; bartenders at the pool bar were friendly and made good drinks; hostess at Thalassa dinner time was pleasant and helpful (e.g. pointing out vegetarian options on the buffet); servers at Tao Cat were pleasant and quick; servers at Thalassa dinner were pleasant; room attendants were diligent; room was clean and well kept (no issues); pool by the lobby was warm and clean; beach was clean of seaweed and enough chairs available.

Waited 30 minutes for check in; many wait staff and bartenders were curt or unfriendly; concierge tried to sell us a time share and hung up on us; incorrect information on website and WhatsApp.

There is no vegetarian restaurant any longer - huge disappointment. No Peruvian restaurant either. Thalassa is buffet breakfast, then menu order lunch and dinner. No vegetarian option at lunch. There was a dominican buffet one night. Tao Cat is menu order and serves dinner only. Really tasty and a vegetarian options. Bloved is menu order for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We were not impressed by the food there. There's a quick serve place near Bloved - burgers, chicken, beyond burgers, french & yucca fries, nachos, wings. There's also a smaller restaurant near the pool bar. Both open 12-4ish. Pizzas and mac and cheese, along with burgers and flavored wings, salads all had meat in them. Room service had limited menu about 11pm - it was delivered much faster than it said so we missed it and had to reorder.

Food was mid, the blue pool was filled with dirty substances in the pool, the other pool is fine, room was good other than it smelled like poo, my wife was indian & she was met with a some rude offensive service from the staff but I wasnt, the drinks has no alcholo despite saying make it strong ,7 drink & not a single feeling, beach is nice. Overall this was a bday gift for my wife & I dont think it was worth it, hopefully other resorts do better next year, won't recommend

Everything to do with the resort was exactly what we expected, which is a great thing. We were looking for a relaxed vibe and this was it 100%. The only complaint that we had(and we were warned by family) has to do with the outside company vendors at the beach. At one point we literally had a line up of 5 vendors trying to sell us stuff & they literally do not take no for an answer. We had to tell the parrot man 5 times that we do not have any money and he kept saying “just tip me, just tip me” and again, we have no money.

So for the resort itself, it was so chill, so relaxed, we loved it, food was great, staff was great, just beware of those beach vendors

They need to make sure that there are no bee hives on the property before letting guess stay. My first day and night was a nightmare. Bees everywhere I got stuck and they were flying all in the room. All in the private pool and patio. We couldn’t go outside !!

We had an incredible stay at the Catalonia Resort. The staff was amazing and welcoming! The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The food at the restaurants was ok, we preferred the buffet. There is two pools and a swim up bar. There was also beach access with a cute tiki bar. Also there is a small shopping area with a cute coffee shop that serves amazing coffee. Overall loved our stay at Catalonia!

The outside property and common areas were beautiful and well maintained. The room I stayed in was worn but I did notice they were updating the rooms while we were there. The food was overall good. There is some outdated information on websites versus what is actually open or available. There are only 3 a la cartes on the adult side and no dinner or lunch buffet. You can eat at 2 of the a la cartes for lunch with no reservations but you would have to go to the family side for buffet which was extremely busy with a wait in line at times. The beach was beautiful. The majority of the staff was good with a few that didn't really appear to want to be working there. Overall good and relaxing experience.

So we arrived celebrating my fiancé‘s birthday and also got engaged a couple of days before we left that was a surprise, they did upgrade us for half off to the romance package however, we did not receive anything that was included, which was a dinner on the beach a romantic breakfast in the room a bottle of champagne and two massages which don’t be tricked. They are only 25 minutes we opted and paid for the rest of the time to have an hour. What we did figure out after having much problems making reservations online they told us to wait till the next day we did not we did that night nothing was available until nine or 930 at night. That is not true. Restaurants were empty and we were able to just walk in and get a table we finally realize this after day three also we are early risers. Roberto told us there was nothing available until 8 AM. His desk sits right next to the café that opens at 7 AM so how he did not know that I am not sure but we figured it out on our own. I would return to this resort at the beach is amazing. The grounds are beautiful and if you were in the privileged side adult adults, only you have access to the family site as well for restaurants. We had a great time at the Japanese restaurant B love, serves lunch and dinner and was fantastic and it’s right on the beach. Don’t rely on the staff for reservations just do it yourself. You have a fabulous time we did and I would absolutely go back. oh also ordered room service three times and never received it a
