Expedia should seriously stop selling this place. Calling it a “hotel” is generous… let’s say aspirational. The room smelled like it had lived several lives before me. The AC technically existed, but emotionally it had given up.

The bathroom was an adventure I didn’t sign up for, the furniture looked like it survived a minor war, and the kitchen was more of a decorative suggestion than something a human could actually use.

I lasted exactly one night, and that felt heroic. This is not a hotel—this is a life lesson.

What a great place for the price. It is a ways from the resorts and downtown Punta Cana but not hard to get a taxi at all. If you want a taste of the local lifestyle this is definitely the place you should stay. Less than 5 mins to Ole supermarket (which is kind of a Walmart) with a fully equipped kitchen. Even if I was going resorting I would stay for a couple days here just to understand how middle class Dominicans are living. Don't let the people who only stay at resorts tell you how 'dangerous' it is. That is nonsense. Go here, have an open mind and cook some good meals for yourself. The manager Raquel is the best!

Not our cup of tea

We were only there for an overnight stay and needed a place to sleep and wasn't expecting much, but the pool wasn't clean, there was no airport shuttle. Plus, if you took the room key out of the holder by the door, it would turn the power off, including the air conditioner in the bedroom. But, for the price, it was ok for 1 night. We won't go back to that hotel.

We had 2 bookings. In our first booking we stayed on the first floor. The apartment was infested with roaches. I complained and they wanted to move us to the 2nd or 3rd floor, I told her that there wasn't any need because we were checking out the following day to go to a different hotel that we had reserved for 5 days and then come back and do two more days at Bavaro Green. When we come back for our 2nd stay,they could put us on the second floor. when we came back they check us in on the third floor. The issue we had was that the AC in both rooms was sto
ser at 76 degrees. The remote control could not bring down the temperature or take the temperature up. I went to the to the reception and someone came tried to fix it and it wasn't working. She took one of the remotes and promised sending a technician but no one ever came until we checked out after 2 days.

The set of the rooms was also weird. The Masters bedroom was instead that had several beds for kids and an inside bathroom, while our room is that hot and outside bathroom.

The Office/Property Manager was notified by the night security, housekeeping, and myself that a gas leak was in my unit on the third day of my stay. I asked to be moved. She called a worker to come and examine. He turned off the gas to the stove and unplugged it. I had a refrigerator full of food. This continued for five more days. She would not move me to another unit or get someone else to fix the unit. I lost all the food because technician cutoff breaker to stove and refrigerator for two days. Water was all over the floor from the freezer defrosting. I stayed away from the unit everyday to eat out and other things. She was never in the office when I return to discuss this issue. She was not in the office when I checked out. This is the worst property manager that I had ever experienced in the DR. Common courtesy would to place me in another unit. Staying in a unit with a natural gas leak is totally unsafe for the unit and units around it. Further, the Property Manager alerted none of other tenants or owner of this gas leak. This is a major liability for the property owner(s).

I book this property online and when we got there with our 5 children which includes our 6 months old baby the place was a disaster not as advertised online. First there wasn’t anyone there to check us in, I had to wait 30 mins before someone come to the gate, second there was no elevator to get to our room we had to climb like 5 flights of stairs along with our baggage’s and children, third when we got into the apartment it was filthy and smells awful, it was suppose to be a three bedroom apartment one of the rooms were close and we couldn’t get access to it the guy who brought us to the apartment had a hammer and some other tool trying to open the door… It was shady and scary as hell we couldn’t stay here we had to take the kids and leave I had to now at 8 pm rush to find somewhere else for us to stay. The kids were tired and hungry. When we file a complain they refuse to give us a refund and told us it’s a non refundable booking and they are strict with their cancellation policy. But on the other hand they couldn’t deliver the proper service and hospitality that was promised. Worst place to book your stay!!!!!

Do not book last minute!! This property stays available to book on Expedia late at midnight but when we went there, the place is dark and no reception as they were already closed. Our taxi driver had to bang the gate to wake up the care taker only to turn us away because he didn’t have our names on his list. Let’s say that’s our fault because we booked late and as it turned out, they don’t accept late check in (we were desperate), but they should at least give our money back. But NO. unfortunately, they don’t do refund even with no service provided and Expedia can’t do anything about it! Hope this helps someone.

DO NOT RESERVE THIS PROPERTY. THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY! They advertise for a certain amount a night but it actually cost more. We booked because our flight was cancelled until the next morning and needed a place to stay immediately. I booked like I normally do on Expedia and immediately called the property manager to confirm that we were on our way from the airport. She confirmed that it was ok to come and told me someone would greet us. However, upon arriving, I was asked for an additional cash deposit and my passport! Even though I showed the attendant my Expedia receipt and called the property manager again in front of him. They still wanted wanted more money and promised to return my passport in the morning! There was no way we were going to turn in our passports and pay more so we immediately left. Aside from this, we generally felt unsafe. It seemed like the attendant and taxi driver were in cahoots. The driver also overcharged us for the ride there and then to the next stop which wound up being the resort where we had stayed the previous week. I requested a refund from Expedia because we immediately left and never set foot on the property. They denied my request for a refund and I am currently disputing the charge through my bank. I REITERATE...DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE!

What we liked about this property was the pool, the view and the apartment itself, What we didn’t like was that some of the staff wasn’t friendly, Check in was a disaster, The entire building needs an upgrade, we didn’t get new towels or toilet paper each day, the batteries in the remote controls for the tv and AC were not working. The contact number on the Expedia website belongs to someone else and not the property itself. This property was not at all the way it is described on Expedia. Overall a good stay but very disappointed.

Be aware - no honesty - stealing people - worst ever experience. You go there believe you me , you will end up regretting it.
You come at night , the security will ask to leave your passport or to leave 3000 Pesos , promising you will get in the morning when office open since he cannot check if you paid, even presenting your receipt he will not let you. Then Morning comes the office telling you that your money will be used to clean even if you passed 4 or 5 hours or days, in my case 5 hours and I lost $40 US. Never have issues with Expedia but this Hotel has some workers team up to steal your money.

I like the fact that the apartment was in a quiet neighborhood and didn't get bothered by anyone. What i didn't like was the fact everytime i come something new change. I was there 12 nights and nobody cleaned room are bring clean bedding are towels. So happened i brought my own towels with me. I was charge 40 dollars said it was for cleaning nobody came to do anything. Online it says 25 cleaning fee but i was charged 40. My husband was not pleased at all. He say they charge 40 dollars and dont clean nothing. No clean lining no clean towels no toilet paper are nothing.

When you arrive at the hotel, they charge you $40 for cleaning fees (they never notify you before) and the person at the front desk is zero flexible and their only goal is to charge you the $40 fee. Additionally, when I got to my room, the first thing I found was a cockroach, old furniture and maintenance-free bathrooms.

I´m from Santo Domingo, I chose this property based in the price. I was glad that it wasn´t any hidden charges. Good treat of lady at front desk. Don´t spect luxeries every thing is just the basic, the same of the description. There is a supermarket and some fast food restaurants near.

If you need extra of something they don't care because is not available. Like in the pass the room that I staid was 4 mattress now is only 3 and if you need extra blanket please don't ask. you will not get it. Also is getting very bad with people that doesn't want to respect rule (guess ) regarding music is to much, some of the girls that clean tent to forgot to close window and you have important staff that anyone could take it.
But, I will staid if I have to. I like some of the workers.

Comfortable apartment but in a questionable area

The 2 bedroom apartment was very nice inside (spacious, clean and comfortable) but the surrounding area was bad. The roads around the apartment building were very bad, big chunks of the road missing. There was no clear signage for the front entry to the apartment building. We arrived late because we got lost finding it and when we called the hotel staff they could not give us clear directions from Punta Cana. Please note that this apartment is outside of Punta Cana about 15 to 20 minute drive. There are additional fees added to the stated nightly rate, resulting in the room actually being double the stated price. It really didn't seem like a hotel, no visible office, just one staff person sitting around a patio area. It seemed like a low to middle class apartment complex that rented out vacant apartments. Our WIFI didn't work the first night, when asked about it the staff found the equipment was missing from the room. They quickly replaced it and then my WIFI worked. Quick response by the office staff. The staff in the office were friendly and helpful but the staff you meet as you arrive in the patio just seem like they are sitting around taking up space.

I like the room but the way they managed there its not good at all. At the time to check in they don't even has any info abt my reservation was so tired had to wait one hour to find my comfirmation, I forgot my card keys in the room when got back there the only person were the has a lot many's card keys except mine, well there were some others people had to sleep in the yard too waiting for the keys beside my picture i have 4 more picture of people sleeping in the yard on the floor, at the stair i don't know somebody else but my experience was terrible.
I'm not recommended this place no even to my worse enemy

This property looks nothing like these beautiful pictures posted. It is not beach front or even in a touristic area. I do not recommend this hotel for anyone. It is more of an apartment building, with local actually living there and not a safe area. Also, there were cockroaches and mold everywhere.

There is no reception to receive the guest. We have to enter inside someone’s apartment in the middle of people cooking and then seat there with our bags for about 20 min in order to wait for the manager to register us. It is a very uncomfortable and akward situation.

Unless you are looking to stay far away from the beaches, this is not the place to stay. Their service was rude, they charged you heavily for transportation if you wanted to leave the area, and their's no check/front desk to hold your luggage while you explore. Honestly, do not stay here unless you want to be held hostage to this run down apartment. Again, this is NOT A HOTEL, it's an apartment where they split the rooms.

I stayed at Bavaro Green for 8 days (2/20/2018-2/28/2018). First impressions were that check in went smoothly enough. Don't expect English to be spoken. First impressions of the apartment was that it was roomy with a living area, kitchen, separate bedroom with AC, full bath, and a small dining area. The sofa sleeper in the living room needed to be updated. It was worn out to the point where no cushion support was available for sitting comfortably. Next came the bed or beds: They advertised a queen sized bed, but in fact I received two twins pushed together. For one person--its okay. For two people, the beds tended to slide apart. Bathroom was good, with warm water--but the hook for the shower head was broken so the shower head had to be used as a wand. Not a big deal. A small flat screen tv was attached to the wall in the living area and cable channels were adequate with around 3-4 in English. Wifi was pretty solid, although I did have to reset the router a couple of times--but that seems to be typical everywhere.
The locations is a little off the beaten path. The area has no walkability factor. To get to the beach, one must drive or seek out some type of transport. I rented a car for the entire 8 days, so that was not an issue. Covered parking in a secure parking area was provided, although the parking spot that matched my unit number was occupied by a big water tank. I parked in adjacent spots, and never received any complaints. Overall, I can recommend

We love bávaro green, we stayed their two years ago and where to happy that we went again. But this time the experince was different. I had made reversavtion for a room with two bedrooms, which I paid for. On arrival my reservation was not granted. Instead they gave me two single rooms, which put my mother in a room different to ours. We all wanted to be together, I traveled with my fiancé, my three year old and my mom. I asked them to please let us know when my reservation would come available. That never happened, & we were forced to do an early checkout. We were never accommodated to the way we wanted. We won't cross bávaro green off of our list but do hope that they keep their word when good clients like ourselves make reservations online. We were disappointed!!!

Nice place but on Boondocks avenue

Hotel in the boonies far from all and about a half mile from ghetto strip. Tourist area miles away. Hotel room was nice clean but no locks on windows forgot my key so very easy to climb through window. Hot/cold water regulator SUCKED!!! Water bugs extremely fast. Very little English speaking staff. Forced to rent car. Staff was very nice and overall nice spot just not for short stay vacationer.

I ,strongly recommande this hotel...Rooms fit my family of 6 like a suite . Quiet neigborhood , security gate with attendant, but ways off the beaches, and restaurant or shopping mall area...rooms are very clean...

Bavaro Green Hotel ok for the money

The hotel was easy to find with GPS. It was a little confusing entering the hotel because it is located within a residential area and there are two entries one for the guest and one for the residents. The security was not very good at explaining the difference and, to be honest the security seems for not since no type of verification is required to enter the area. We were no able to check in until after 3:30 PM which is ok since that is clearly stated in the reservation. The room was ok for my and I however there wee only 3 chairs at the dining table, one of which was broken. The living room furniture was very uncomfortable and should be replaced. The bathroom faucet was a challenge turning off the water, it should be replaced. The bed was comfortable and the air worked. Although the negatives were a little annoying our overall experience was positive and the room was reasonable. You can't expect perfection for a $40 per night room.

Not as advertised

Amenities were not as advertised. There was no airport shuttle, no wifi in room, no help booking excursions and no tv remote. We were accidentally checked out of our room a day early and were locked out for a bit. It's a nice apartment but not as advertised.

Good experience.

Location was ok if you have a car. Staff very helpful even if we didn't speak Spanish. Clean and in good condition. Felt safe in a secured neighborhood. A/C was good.

Gave the Hotel a Second Chance

I originally stayed here in July 2016. I decided to come back for a couple of days in August 2016 and it was better than my last stay. The room was very clean, kitchen fully stocked for cooking and the staff were very nice. They remembered my husband and I wanted our stay to be as comfortable as possible. If you are not fluent in spanish, I still don't recommend the hotel. If you're looking for a more non-tourist area, this is the spot to be immersed in the Dominican life. The bus stop is located not far from the hotel and there are many motorcycles for transportation. It's a short ride to the San Juan plaza, Veron and Higuey.
