The hotel is a little older, but the room was clean. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. In the evening there was a lot of people partying in the streets around the hotel during our stay (Friday and Saturday).

Clean and simple, comfortable bed and a good sized room.

The hotel is very centrally located for shopping, transit, and sightseeing. Very walkable. Easy to get to from the airport with two S-bahn options directly from the airport that take you only a 3 minute walk from the hotel.

Safe and secure with 24 hour desk and lift. Although the street is quite busy the room was very soundproof once the windows were closed.

I was only there for a short stay but would definitely stay again.

I would like to recognize the young lady who was at the front desk when I arrived, on 6 January 2025 around 23:00. She was extremely helpful and pleasant. She even went out of her way to iron out the wrinkles that were encountered, frankly, due to my carelessness. I do not remember her name, but she made my stay at this less-than-desirable property, a pleasant one.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone taking a short trip to Frankfurt! It is attached to a movie theater which is both cool and loud at times. There was very loud construction and a school nearby that made for quite a bit of noise during the day. Outside of that, the front desk was very accommodating, the breakfast was wonderful, and the area was very walkable. They have good wifi and can make accommodations for food allergies. No laundry service.

I had asked for help finding church service times. The front desk personnel spoke great English but told me to research it. Not realizing everything is in German so I can’t read the website information. I overheard her saying the same to other guests asking for help with the reservations… do it on the website. Didn’t come across as willing to help.

The only benefit in Scala hotel is the location.
I used to stay in Scala since a long time. But they changed a lot. No one of the staff is hospitable except for the Lady that serves breakfast. They don’t clean the bathroom. Only tidy the beds and change towels. The guy on the reception lectured me for asking for one more towel. The pillow is a duvet covered with a pillow case.

Quiet, no-frills accomodation in a great location. Lobby and breakfast area are fairly modern, but my room and the coridors could use a real update. It seems like a partial renovation was completed at some point with an eye on the budget more than anything.
Access to transit was a huge plus, and the area has a ton of great shopping and sightseeing.
Overall, would stay here again myself, but couldn't recommend to overly discerning friends.

Avoid in the summer heat

The hotel is at the edge of the tourist and shopping areas. I felt safe during the day, but it felt a bit seedier in the evening. It was a hot summer and there is no AC. Couldn’t leave the window open at night due to street noise and safety, so the room was uncomfortably warm. They did provide a desk fan. There was no phone in the room so whenever there was a problem I had to go in person to the front desk. The young guy at the front desk most of the time was extremely rude. There was an older woman that worked there and she was quite helpful. That said, I would choose another hotel next time.

Convenient to Zeil shopping area, restuarants, bars, U line that takes you directly to airport in 20 minutes.

Room was very small and lift goes to 8 floor, 9th floor you must climb a set of stairs.

This hotel is deceiving and nicer then first appears from the outside. The unfortunate issue for this hotel is broken cooling system and it appears that it has been down for some time. It is a shame as hotel is well located, cpmfortable clean rooms for the price, but I could not recommend this hotel for people looking for a location in the heat of the summer. The room temp simply could not be cpntrolled.

It’s a great location to get around, easy access to Frankfurt Airport and may of Frankfurt’s parks via the metro, there are many places to eat nearby. I stayed on the 9th floor in a single room, it was really clean except for a dusty shelf above the clothes rail, which I only noticed the night before I was checking out. I did find it a little disconcerting that the fire alarm system, only seemed to exist 3/4 of the way down the corridor on the floor I was staying on. I can’t say this for all rooms but my room had a battery operated smoke alarm, the type you would have in your own house. If this is the case for all rooms and if a fire were to happen, it could be sometime for the smoke to reach the fire alarm system in the corridors, delaying of course the rest of the guests staying there from being alerted to evacuate.

Always my first option in the city

It was my third time in Frankfurt, and it was my third time at Hotel Scala. I didn't even consider anywhere else. The staff is always extremely kind, the rooms are comfortable, very clean and cozy. And it is located in what I consider to be the best spot in Frankfurt, within walking distance to Zeil, to the Old Town, the Iron Bridge, Main Tower, among others. I highly recommend staying here.

I stayed at the hotel for 6 nights. I booked single room and expected a single bed, however, I was delighted to see that my room had a twin bed and it was bigger than I expected. Thr room was on the first floor and recently renovated. The b d was very, very comfortable. Everything was clean and neat. The bathroom is small, but it was good for me. The shower is one of the best I have ever used. When I travel in winter I am always worried that the rooms might be cold. There was a heater in the room and in the bathroom. Thus, I had really hot room and I really enjoyed spending more time indoors than I thought I will. The staff are very friendly too.
Else,the hotel is near shops, restaurants, station and just about anything you will need. It's off the main street, but also more quiet. Just opposite the hotel there was convenient shop, Aldi just around the corner if you need drinks, diner shop where you can get also pizza, and also Starbucks just 2min away. I am very happy with everything and if I go back to Frankfurt will definitely stay there again.

Dated Hotel in Excellent Location

The hotel Scala is superbly located next to the Pedestrian Zone near the Altstadt but it is showing its age. Old-fashioned florescent lighting, dated colors and an elevator that felt like it was from the Soviet Union. Awkward bathroom that is ready for new fixtures. Breakfast was adequate with fresh scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, assorted breads, cold-cuts, muesli and juices.

The beds were amazingly comfortable and well maintained. The bathroom was clean and the staff very friendly. Location was perfect. The room is only missing some toiletries (you only get one type of gel that works as soap/shampoo). As for amenities, the hotel is small and it only has a dining hall as a shared space, but you are in a great neighborhood, so no need to stay in.

We stayed at the Favored hotel during a 12 hour layover in Frankfurt, after a 2 week trip through Italy. Based on a previous trip to Germany, we were expecting more. The location is great… very close to a metro stop and an easy 20 minute ride from the airport. This was our primary reason for booking this hotel. Unfortunately, we did not get the rest we were looking for during the layover. The rooms are not air conditioned. This would be ok given the cool nights in Frankfurt, but the windows only open a couple of inches, preventing any air flow. After complaining about the heat, we were first offered a fan, and then eventually \"upgraded\" to a comfort room with AC. The AC was barely functional in the new room and provided no real benefit. It didn't help that we were told \"Hotels in many countries don't have AC.\" We had very good AC throughout our trip in both small and large cities. The room was ok otherwise… a basic room, similar to something you'd see in a nice youth hostel.

Bottom line, I wouldn't stay here again during the summer. It was way too hot to sleep. It may be ok outside the summer, but I don't think we'd stay here again given our experience.
